Arturo Préstamo Elizondo, Executive Chairman and CEO of Santacruz Silver Mining Ltd. (TSXV: SCZ) (OTCQB: SCZMF), joins me to focus on the growth strategy at the development-stage Soracaya Project, as well as the exploration upside and expansion potential around the Bolivar, Porco, and Zimapan Mines. Santacruz Silver operates 5 mines, 3 mills, and an ore feed-sourcing and metals trading business in Bolivia, along with 1 mine in Mexico, as an emerging mid-tier silver and base metals producer.   We kick things off with a review of the news out October 7th which announced the initiation of development activities and the pursuit of full production permitting at their wholly-owned Soracaya Project; located in the Potosí Department, Bolivia. These activities mark a key step toward advancing the Project to a production decision. With the preliminary mine plan in place and the permitting process underway, Soracaya is emerging as a cornerstone growth project for Santacruz Silver in Bolivia.   Soracaya is a high-grade, silver-rich project, featuring mineralization along reactivated faults with replacement and brecciated sulphides, geological characteristics typical of some of the world's most productive silver deposits. Since 1999, more than 29.6 km of drilling across 90+ holes has provided extensive geological data, supporting robust resource modeling and preliminary mine planning.     Additionally, Glencore already put in the decline to access the high-grade veins, so there are some distinct brownfield site infrastructure advantages already in place. An internal study was completed by Glencore with an estimated capex of ~US$40MM for construction of a processing plant and tailings facility. Mine plan today envisions a roughly 12-year mine life with the idea to process about 850-1000 tonnes per day of material through the proposed mill.  Arturo outlined that Soracaya's high-grade resource, strategic location in Potosí, and synergies with existing operations and the teams experience as underground miners give them confidence in its ability to deliver long-term value for shareholders and stakeholders alike.   We also discuss the permitting process, along with the regional Potosí District and mining history, as well as the national election and constructive political developments inside of Bolivia.   Their team is now currently increasing exploration and development work around the Bolivar and Porco Mines in Bolivia, to expand resources and extend mine life. Arturo Prestamo, Executive Chairman and CEO of Santacruz Silver Mining joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share the company's results for the quarter ended June 30, 2025. The second quarter highlighted Santacruz's operational resilience, as strong contributions from its diversified portfolio of mines offset temporary production challenges at the Bolívar operation. The company reported steady throughput growth and increased concentrate production at Caballo Blanco and San Lucas, alongside stable performance at Porco and Zimapán. However, overall silver-equivalent output was temporarily impacted by a mid-May water inflow at Bolívar, which restricted access to higher-grade zones and reduced both mined volumes and grades. Prestamo explained that the impact was partially mitigated by San Lucas' strategic contribution, which increased material supply and sustained mill utilization. Additionally, throughput gains across other operations further supported Santacruz's ability to maintain continuity and minimize the impact on consolidated results. For the six months ended June 30, 2025, the company processed 952,637 tonnes of ore, producing a total of 7,235,184 silver-equivalent ounces, including 3,013,144 ounces of silver and 41,868 tonnes of zinc. Financially, Santacruz delivered solid revenue growth and a significant improvement in profitability, with both net income and adjusted EBITDA showing strong year-over-year gains. The company also strengthened its balance sheet, ending the quarter with nearly $58 million in liquidity, comprised of $40 million in cash and $17.8 million in investments. Importantly, this position was achieved while making a $7.5 million acceleration payment to Glencore, underscoring management's commitment to disciplined financial management. Prestamo also highlighted that the company achieved a 303% increase in working capital during the quarter, alongside notable reductions in operating costs compared to the prior year. A décima edição da Director's Factory (Fábrica de Diretores) da importante mostra paralela de Cannes, Quinzena de Realizadores, promove este ano jovens cineastas brasileiros. Batizado este ano de “Fábrica Ceará Brasil” o evento teve este ano um produtor de prestígio: o cineasta Karim Aïnouz.  Adriana Brandão, enviada especial da RFI a CannesApós dois anos seguidos em Cannes na competição oficial pela Palma de Ouro, (em 2023 com o "Jogo da Rainha", e em 2024 com "Motel Destino") Karim Aïnouz volta a participar do festival, mas desta vez como produtor. O cineasta brasileiro produziu os quatro curtas-metragens da Fábrica de Diretores da Quinzena dos Realizadores. Todos os filmes foram rodados em Fortaleza, cidade natal de Aïnouz. O cineasta negociava com a Quinzena dos Realizadores essa participação, que mostra outras narrativas cinematográficas brasileiras nas telas de Cannes há algum tempo. “Eu falei, deixa a gente mostrar para o mundo que tem outro Brasil, porque tradicionalmente, historicamente, é sempre muito do Rio e São Paulo”, lembra, ao lado dos jovens talentos que apoia. Ele ressalta a importância da visibilidade de um “outro Brasil” exatamente nesse ano em que o país é o convidado de honra do Mercado do Filme de Cannes. “É uma espécie de abre alas. (Uma) celebração de uma cinematografia periférica e invisível. O público que estava na sala descobriu personagens e histórias que são inéditas. Tem gente ali na tela que a gente não viu no cinema ainda. É uma espécie de reparação histórica”, diz. Apoiar novos talentosA Fábrica de Diretores da Quinzena dos Realizadores visa apoiar novos talentos. Os quatro curtas-metragens desta edição estrearam em Cannes na quarta-feira (14). Cada curta foi roteirizado e realizado por um diretor do nordeste ou norte do Brasil, em parceria com um jovem cineasta de um outro país. Os oito jovens que integram o programa este ano foram selecionados em setembro do ano passado e tiveram poucos meses de produção e filmagem. Todos vieram a Cannes para participar da estreia e também poder negociar financiamentos e coproduções para a realização de seus próximos filmes. “Ponto Cego”, foi codirigido pela cearense Luciana Vieira e pelo cubano Marcel Beltrán. O filme se passa no Porto de Fortaleza e conta a história da Marta, uma engenheira de sistemas que conserta câmeras de segurança do local.  “É o filme que fala sobre o silenciamento feminino, sobre a necessidade de interromper certos ciclos de violência e sobre como isso pode se dar dentro do ambiente de trabalho”, revela Luciana.Vitória coletivaEstar em Cannes "não é só uma vitória pessoal, mas uma vitória coletiva", disse a cearense. "Espero estar honrando nosso estado, nosso país. Estar aqui representando mulheres nordestinas, mulheres que também não ocupam esse espaço com tanta frequência. Podemos agora ser exemplos e espelhos para as novas gerações que vão vir aí também”, espera Luciana. “A Vaqueira, a Dançarina e o Porco”, foi escrito e dirigido pela alagoana Stella Carneiro, em parceria com português Ary Zara. O filme é um “faroeste translésbico” e uma história de vingança, com uma estética bem diferente. “A gente quis fazer um filme bem disruptivo, trazendo protagonismo para pessoas que normalmente não ocupam esse gênero de cinema tão tradicional”, conta Stella. Como Luciana, Stella ressalta a oportunidade de estar em Cannes como nordestina. “Como alagoana e como uma mulher que vem de origem negra, eu acho que é um espaço que a gente não estava acostumada a ocupar. Trazer isso refletido no cinema que a gente está fazendo era muito importante”, afirma. “A Fera do Mangue” é codirigido pela cearense Wara e pela israelense Sivan Noam. “A nossa história é sobre um mangue encantado, dominado por um feiticeiro que abusa das mulheres. Uma ensina conhecimentos ancestrais para a outra. É um filme sobre transmissão”, resume o diretor. "Essa participação no maior festival de cinema do mundo será transformadora. Essa experiência está sendo incrível e vai significar muito para minha carreira em termos de novas experiências que eu adquiri por conta do trabalho com a Sharon e com a equipe incrível. Arturo Préstamo Elizondo, Executive Chairman and CEO of Santacruz Silver Mining Ltd. (TSXV: SCZ) (OTCQB: SCZMF), joins me to recap key financial and operational updates for the company from newsflow during the first quarter.  Santacruz Silver operates 1 mine in Mexico, and 5 mines, 3 mills, and an ore feed-sourcing and metals trading business in Bolivia, as an emerging mid-tier silver and base metals producer.   We start off on the financial side of the business, reviewing the news out on February 27th where its wholly owned subsidiary in Bolivia, San Lucas S.A., successfully completed the first offering of promissory notes, named “Pagarés Bursátiles San Lucas – Emisión 1,” under its San Lucas Promissory Notes Issuance Program. The offering was oversubscribed and sold out in a matter of 15 minutes, for gross proceeds of 70 million Bolivian Boliviano. The notes have a 6.25% interest rate, a maturity date of February 15th, 2026 and are unsecured.  It was encouraging to Arturo to see the support from in-country stakeholders in Bolivia.   Next, we reviewed the news out on March 20, that the Company has structured and implemented a plan to exercise its Acceleration Option to satisfy the Base Purchase Price owed to Glencore, by making payments on a schedule that aligns the accelerated timing whilst meeting the Company's commitment to financial discipline and a strong balance sheet. The plan's primary objective is to save the Company US$40 million.The Company successfully completed the first component of this plan, an initial payment to Glencore of USD$10 million, on March 20, 2025. Moving forward under the plan, Santacruz will make bi-monthly payments of USD$7.5 million commencing in May 2025 until reaching a total of USD$40 million, with all payments scheduled to be completed by October 31, 2025. This structured plan reflects the Company's commitment to fulfilling its obligations and achieving cost savings while maintaining financial discipline and strong cash reserves over time.   Then Arturo takes us through the Q4 2024 operational results where 4,710,013 silver equivalent ounces were produced from its Bolivar mine, Porco mine, Caballo Blanco Group of mines and the San Lucas ore sourcing business all located in Bolivia, and the Zimapan mine located in Mexico. Working Capital was $24,191 at the end of Q3 2024, improving from a deficit of $43,168 as of December 31, 2023.
