The Doctor has found his way back home to Gallifrey, and he's really really…angry. At the barn near the Citadel, The Doctor draws a literal line on all of Gallifrey. The Time Lords try to arrest him but the soldiers won't fire on a war hero. They turn on Rassilon who is quickly exiled. As ...
Top Doctor Who guest stars we'd date (The List Makers) In possibly the strangest episode of the List Makers ever committed to tape, this month we push the boat out - and then some - to answer a (modified) suggestion from a listener, plucked from Turlough's Hat of Rassilon. Who are the top Doctor Who guest stars we'd date? Why would we date them? Where would we go for said dates? What would your picks be? Why not write in and let us know? We're just diving into the bizarre world of Rhode Island cable access television of the 80s and 90s. And our special returning guest is Kevin Cafferty! Kevin was there, and remembers it all. If you were anywhere near the Ocean State back in the day, you never knew what you'd find on local cable TV, but you knew it would freak you out. Including: awkward talk shows, befuddling children's shows, ultra-low-budget sketch comedy, backyard wrestling, high school dances, karaoke direct from Woonsocket, the intense legal drama of Providence traffic court, the Star Trek fan show we loved more than Star Trek, the Kiss fan show that was parodied on Family Guy... and the legend of Daphne's Madhouse. Why would you ever look at mainstream TV again? On cable access, your own neighbors were making the weirdest shows in the world. Kevin's podcasts: Gleaming the Tube and The Best Stuff in the World! Need a break from, you know, everything? We're just hiding behind a giant stack of Dynamite magazines, and you're welcome to join us. We've pulled out a Dynamite issue from 1980 with the hosts of That's Incredible on the cover. (Cathy Lee Crosby looks lovely, while Fran Tarkenton and John Davidson are missing some teeth... our copy may have been defaced decades ago by some kid with a Bic pen.) Inside we can read about New Hampshire's Old Man of the Mountain, Gary Coleman's chihuahua, a Billy Joel album that never happened, a vampire maze, Dynamite Bummers, the Dynamite Duo... and an electronic chicken game. We don't know why they kept making magazines after 1980, when it was done to perfection. The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook! The Flopcast on Instagram! Boobs, burgers and beer! These are three things that almost everyone loves. This episode tells you all about the upcoming fashion show hosted by Amore: For Your Pleasure. On this episode of the Soul Forge Podcast, your host Shawn goes on location for a chat with Gaelyn, the owner of Amore: For Your Pleasure. For those not in the know, Amore is the premiere adult toy store in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Shawn and Gaelyn discuss the upcoming fashion show. This is the ultimate sexy lingerie fashion show. There have been four or five previous shows. Every year, the event gets bigger. Starting from humble beginnings in the store, the event has now moved to the parking lot across from Jay's Piston Broke Pub. Boobs, burgers and beer is the theme of the fashion show. The event is a twofold event. Partly to help celebrate pride week, it is also a customer appreciation event to give back to Amore's customers. The fashion show is held on Wednesday (hump day) and runs between 3 and 10pm. This event is rain or shine. The BBQ is free. There is a cash bar as per regulations. Multiple vendors will be on site. A DJ will provide music and you are free to dance. Games will be held and you can win Amore Bucks to spend in store. The Vendors will be selling jewelry, cookies, soaps and more. July 24 is the date of this amazingly fun event. Running from 3 until 10, there will be two fashion show. The first will be held at 4pm and the second starts at 7:30. This episode sees Andy make a hugely nostalgic trip back to 1983 and his memories of the events that surrounded the first broadcast of this anniversary special. Elsewhere Alex professes her love for the gold transmat device and learns all about the UNIT dating and Series 6b controversies, while Andy reveals his long-term confusion over the relationship between the Game of Rassilon and The War Games. The pair also ask and attempt to answer many big questions: - Why is Tegan so skilled at fruit platters? - What is the application of pi to the chessboard floor? - Who built the TimeScoop? - Why is the 1st Doctor so disinterested in the Master? - And couldn't Borusa have just transmatted to the Dark Tower and swiped the ring in the first place? There's also a quiz and much more besides. Enjoy! Next Time: The Space Museum
Another quick fill-in show? You bet! We're flipping through three old comic books that the Mayor of Chickentown actually owned as a little kid, decades before her rise to poultry-themed political bigwig. Up first is The Wizard of Oz, a giant-sized movie adaptation that was actually the first collaboration between Marvel and DC! (Only a flying monkey could bring these rival publishers together.) We also have an issue of Spidey Super Stories, which was published in conjunction with Spider-Man's segments on The Electic Company. And we even have a Casper the Friendly Ghost comic with a creepy Eddie Munster-type demon child on the cover. Plus: Spider-Man goes to the mall! Richie Rich dies! Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader! Irene Cara and Short Circus! Wendy and Spooky! Sad Sack selling Hostess Cupcakes! And more comic book ads for Grit, onion gum, Witchiepoo masks, and The Bad News Bears! Gallifrey, Vardans, AND Sontarans!? What is this madness!? Well, The Invasion of Time, apparently. Join us, the Watchers in the Fourth Dimension (of Rassilon) as we pick apart the Doctor's latest return to his ancestral homeland for run-ins with high-ranking Time Lords, the introduction of exciting Time Ladies, and goodbyes to two beloved companions. Join us as we talk about continuity errors, Tom Baker's out-of-control ego, enormous amounts of jelly babies, mistreatment of K9, the Doctor's enormous hypocrisy around time loops, the overuse of “DOC-TORRRR!” and the prospect of Borusa being played by Kenneth Williams. Naturally, Julie returns to old habits, talking about chairs, while the ending leaves Reilly devastated. We're diving back into the pages of Dynamite magazine, so we can pretend it's still 1979. (Give it a try. Set the mood with a Gloria Gaynor record.) This randomly selected issue has Erik Estrada on the cover, and inside we learn that the CHiPs star had a problem with chips. Also inside: How to ruin your lunch with weird Dynamite recipes, a bizarre sneak peek at Mrs. Doubtfire, Tony Danza back in the boxing ring, Kiss notebooks vs. Bambi notebooks, Dynamite vs. one of Charlie's Angels, the Dynamite Duo vs. themselves, a decapitated teddy bear, and much more. All we're missing is our free Bee Gees poster, which some kid must have ripped out of the magazine 45 years ago. It's a tragedy. The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook! Relationships go through predictable stages. Each stage builds upon the previous one. Are there 4 stages, five, or seven? This all depends on which particular website or expert you check with. For the purposes of this episode, we will assume there are 4 stages, or levels. The first stage is the initial meeting and attraction. A significant aspect of this stage is the role of hormones like dopamine and oxytocin. Dopamine, often dubbed the ‘feel-good hormone', creates feelings of euphoria, craving, and motivation, which are typically associated with the early stages of romantic attraction. Oxytocin, frequently referred to as the ‘love hormone', fosters feelings of attachment and deepens the emotional bond between partners, especially during intimate moments. Level 2 is the infatuation or romance stage. Infatuation is “foolish” in that we can only see our partner's light side. We're in complete denial of their dark side. Early attraction often involves the physical attributes of the potential partner, and include things like outward appearance, body type, interests and personality traits. At this stage, the attraction may not be too “deep” and each half of a couple is generally putting his or her best foot forward. Stage 3 is the enlightenment or stability level. Couples often go “deeper” in their connection. Trust is stronger and more intimacies may be shared at this next stage as couples take away some of their “best face” and allow themselves to act more naturally and relaxed. As intimacy develops between the two people, more self-disclosure emerges, both verbally and nonverbally as couples act in ways that are more like how they are in their daily life. Level 4 is the commitment stage. At this stage in a relationship, couples should have a good understanding of their partner's values, lifestyle, and goals for the future. You've learned to love each other by having to like each other. You choose each other consciously. This week's podcast promo: Watchathon of Rassilon
