In which The Curmudgeons take a big ol' dukey on that most prominent of rap-metal bands Limp Bizkit. The band is surely one of the worst hard-rock outfits to make it big since cranking up guitars real loud became a thing. Its plodding, uninspired riffage was eclipsed only by its misogynistic, corroded worldview and ultra-dumb lyrics. We dive into the rock's dregs here, analyzing the band's origins as well as its first four albums, all of which are awful. It all begs the question: How the heck did Limp Bizkit get so huge, anyway? We attempt to answer that question.    Marvel in horror at the awful music of Limp Bizkit by accessing out Spotify plylist for the episode: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5s6kczKDwbpVDYt3DoTiaD?si=f88d0b956bcf4120   Here's a handy navigation companion to this episode.   (00:52 - 06:15) - Arturo Andrade sets the parameters for our discussion of Limp Bizkit   (15:04 - 29:52) - The Parallel Universe, featuring reviews of new albums by Ty Segall and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard   (30:50 - 38:56) - We discuss the origin story behind Limp Bizkit's improbable rise from the underground of Jacksonville, Fla., to corporate rock's front burner   (40:03 - 1:18:23) - We break down why this band's first four album are, in fact, truly terrible and even offensive. Erschienen am 13. Juni 2025 bei p(doom). Unser Review. SERVICE TEAM MINI-SERIES: Theology of ArtsStu, Joel, and guest co-host Brayden (Soul Revival's Arts pastor) explore the significance of the Arts service the context of church ministry  and how it moves beyond music to a broader theological vision. They open with reflections on why communal singing has declined in modern culture, despite its historical and emotional power. Drawing from history, village life, and the COVID-era sea shanty revival, the hosts highlight the rich tradition of singing as a bonding and memory-shaping activity. They link this to the church's continued practice of communal singing, reflecting on how music has evolved from communal to individualised consumption and how this shift impacts church gatherings. The conversation critiques the reduction of “worship” to just music, asserting that worship encompasses all of life. From there, they unpack the theological and cultural reasons behind Soul Revival's use of the term “Arts” rather than just “music team.” This encompasses up-front roles like preaching and prayer, as well as behind-the-scenes elements like sound and tech—all contributing to church. They concludeswith a discussion of how songs can shape doctrine and memory, the growing trend of writing more scripturally faithful songs, and the value of including elements like confession and liturgy. Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus continues her winning streak with "End of the World," an anthemic pop masterpiece with nostalgic 80s vibes reminiscent of The Go-Go's and The Bangles.Star Wars fans have reason to celebrate with two May 4th releases that demonstrate the holiday's growing cultural significance. Labyrinth's "SWMF" and Apache's remix of John Williams' iconic "Duel of the Fates" showcase how orchestral elements can blend seamlessly with electronic production – bridging centuries of musical evolution in single tracks. The mix continues with The Jonas Brothers' "Love Me to Heaven" and Turnpike Troubadours' introspective "Heaven Passing Through," which reminds us to treasure life's fleeting moments. Amine brings summer vibes with "Vacay," while legendary artists The Doobie Brothers prove they've still got it alongside Mavis Staples on "Walk This Road."For alternative music fans, The Minus Five delivers "happy rock" with "Words and Birds," Turnstile bends genres on "Never Enough," and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard experiments with orchestral sounds on "Phantom." The collection closes with Wavves' energetic Travis Barker-produced surf rock on "Goner."Whether you're planning your summer playlist, seeking graduation anthems, or simply exploring what's new in music, this diverse collection captures artists at different points in their creative journeys, all delivering tracks worthy of repeated listening. Parmi les nouveautés, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard dévoilent "Deadstick", tandis que Sleep Token présente "Caramel", extrait de "Even In Arcadia". The fabric of the Edmonton community, impossible recreation, and top level quality. Michael Rault (Michael Rault, Pearl Charles) "The Edmonton-born, Montreal-based singer-songwriter-producer began working on its songs in earnest after winding down the tour supporting his 2015 full-length Living Daylight, but getting to the point of having an album was a process. "Musically it came out of a period of dissatisfaction, creatively and personally, as I found myself pushing against the limitations of my abilities and approaches to making music." But those delays eventually paid off. As he was working on Tonight's songwriting, Rault kept entering the orbit of Wayne Gordon, the producer / head engineer at Brooklyn's legendary Daptone studio—first through opening stints for the late firebrand Charles Bradley, then while on tour with Aussie shredders King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Sending Gordon early sketches of some songs led to Rault heading to Daptone for what was initially going to be a two-week recording stint. Midway through that Gordon approached him about signing to the Daptone Records label's fledgling rock spinoff, Wick—and becoming the first Canadian member of the Daptone family. Signing with Wick also led to Rault finishing the record at Daptone and bringing Gordon on as co-producer."
