We continue our journey through all of Doctor Who, as we discuss the third serial of Season 15: Image of the Fendahl. Received fan wisdom has this as being one of the better stories of the season… however, we're in our controversial era this season – will we find gothic Who's final story be a worthy last hurrah, or will we find it to be as limp as a salt-covered leech? Listen in to find out! Join us as we discuss Benedict Cumberbatch's Mum, Big Finish's inevitable “Leaky the Dog” series (featuring Jackie Tyler), the sloppy kitchen sink approach of lazy representations of the occult, Reilly's dislike of squelching, and the Doctor's hypocrisy with Time Lords. We also ask the important questions like “why does Leela look like she's going to Coachella?” If you would like to watch along with us, you can find this story available for streaming on Britbox in the USA (http://www.britbox.com) and BBC iPlayer in the UK (https://bbc.in/48GSaCB). Jackie Tyler Music - https://www.instagram.com/jackietyler... https://linktr.ee/TheBarnMediaGroup www.betterhelp.com/TheBarn Special thanks to: The Tippy Jo Show, Deep Space Studios, The Barn, Everest Counseling, Better Help https://www.nami.org/ 9*8*8 In recent years, the importance of mental health has gained significant recognition, and societies worldwide are taking steps to address the growing need for mental health support. One significant development in this regard is the establishment of the 988 crisis line, which is poised to become a crucial lifeline for individuals facing mental health crises in the United States. The 988 crisis line is a three-digit phone number designated for individuals in need of immediate mental health assistance, akin to the well-known 911 emergency line for physical emergencies. This landmark development was signed into law in October 2020 as part of the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, recognizing the critical need for accessible mental health care in the country. The significance of the 988 crisis line lies in its potential to streamline access to mental health services, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health issues, and ultimately save lives. Mental health crises can manifest in various ways, from severe depression and anxiety to suicidal ideation, and having a dedicated crisis line can make all the difference in providing timely intervention and support. One of the key advantages of the 988 crisis line is its simplicity and ease of use. The three-digit number is easy to remember, making it more likely that individuals in distress will reach out for help. This accessibility is especially crucial for young people and those who may be hesitant to seek help through traditional channels due to fear of judgment or misunderstanding. Additionally, the 988 crisis line aims to provide a continuum of care by connecting callers to local crisis centers and mental health professionals. This ensures that individuals in crisis receive appropriate assistance tailored to their specific needs.
Nick is in Portmeirion, celebrating 50 years of The Prisoner. He incorrectly identifies the Podcast launch date as 10th October, rather than 2nd October, but we'll put that down to the influence of 'Number 2'. Benji provides edited entertainment. Guest star: Camille Coduri . Drama tease: The Time War.
Chan and Riley take a trip back into Chan's daddy issues issues with 'Father's Day.' Heat up those TARDIS keys and sit back as Jackie Tyler tells us conflicting bedtime stories and we debate the inherent terror (or lack therein) of CGI Gargoyle/Predator monsters.
@TinDogPodcast reviews This title was released in June 2017. It will be exclusively available to buy from the BF website until August 31st 2017, and on general sale after this date. If you’re a fan of either the Captain or of Russell, then this box set is an essential purchase." "A work of art...classic Guy Adams. Gruesome, barbaric and sarcastic. It’s fantastic." "‘The Lives of Captain Jack’ is a release positively dripping with fan-service and an absolute joy for any New Who aficionado." 1. The Year After I Died by Guy Adams Set in the year 200,101, on an Earth ravaged by the Daleks, Jack struggles to save humanity from its oldest enemy. 2. What a fascinating discussion this week's Doctor Who episode lends itself to. Join Deb, Erika, and Tansy as we discuss women who are allowed to fail and still be heroes, the sexual politics of Romans, the Doctor's (possible?) impatience, Bill's outlook on history and its denizens, Nardole as a "space tourist", and much more. Erika, of all people, even has a cracktastic fan theory about the next season of the show. Incredibly unlikely, but kinda fun, depending on your outlook. What did you think about this story? Was it slight? Were the stakes high? Was the monster the point? Was the doctor impatient or irritable or something else? What's up with Missy? SO MANY QUESTIONS. Please feel free to play in the comment section like it's one big happy fandom sandbox. ^E Also covered: Tansy Kickstarts a fabulous speculative fiction anthology of diverse, challenging stories about gender and AI, which we have all backed, and you should too! attends the Australian National Science Fiction Convention and won a Ditmar Award for Best Novella or Novelette for "Did We Break the End of the World?", from Defying Doomsday! Erika flashes back to #shelfwars as she and Steven prepare to move their DW materiel to a new apartment. Deb wants the epic flirty snark that James Goss wrote between Captain Jack and Jackie Tyler in the new Big Finish audio, The Lives of Captain Jack #2!
We watch "Love & Monsters" (Series 2, Episode 10) where the Doctor and Rose are mostly absent. Instead we get to watch Jackie Tyler get harassed by a dweeb named Elton whilst a nine year old's vision of a monster-of-the-week absorbs Elton's friends until the Doctor shows up to spice up Elton's sex life. Show notes can be found at drunktorwho.com/episodes/25
Nick and Benji, the terrible podcast duo, are back at their desks to bring you all the latest from Big Finish's audio drama and audiobook worlds. Doctor Who features heavily! Guest star: actor/author Jane Slavin. Drama tease: The Lives of Captain Jack.
As the title might imply, there's once again dissension among the ranks. Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, and Lynne as we discuss whether "The Sensorites" is long and slow and boring or one of the most gripping, interesting, thought-provoking, and best William Hartnell-era stories ever committed to video. Have you seen this story? Do you fall on the side of received fan wisdom? Or do you hasten to push play on the next episode every time you watch this fascinating story? ^E Also covered: Kat is going to London IN A MATTER OF HOURS!!!!! Erika enjoyed the cosplay at Edmonton Expo, especially the unbelievably-good The Thing! Lynne returned from the Writing Excuses workshop, cruise, and retreat! procured memberships and a hotel room for Chicago TARDIS! can now loudly squee over P-Cap in a top hat because the BBC released a set pic! Deb pre-ordered Doctor Who: Twelve Doctors of Christmas, especially for Jacqueline Raynor's story about Jackie Tyler and the 3rd Doctor! has a new hockey podcast to love, Shut Yer Five Hole Hockey Talk! We have another lovely convention interview for you this week! Join Deb and Erika ever-so-briefly as they reminisce about the fab time they had at the LI Who convention in 2015. While there, Deb did this onstage interview with Jackie Tyler herself, Camille Coduri! Do you have fond Jackie/Camille memories? Let us know in the comments! ^E
We’ve got a whole lot of ground to cover this week. We open with a brief remembrance of Star Trek actor Anton Yelchin. We discuss Steven Moffat’s recent comments on diversity, and Alasdair wonders whether the world is finally ready for a #WokeMoff hashtag, because this is some good stuff. We also sort through general updates on series 10 filming and the 10th Doctor and Donna’s return at Big Finish, before finally getting into our most anticipated discussion ever, as we look at the generally terrible episodes “Love And Monsters” and “Night Terrors.” We each mount at least a quarter-hearted defense of one of the episodes, and we both agree that Camille Coduri as Jackie Tyler is the damn MVP of this week’s selections. She’s great. Everything else? Eh…
Boisterous, outspoken, welcoming and warm, you can always tell when an actor is playing a role that comes from parts of their own persona — and Rose’s unforgettable mum is no exception. Recorded live from L.I. Who 3, the New York Doctor Who convention in November 2015, the GPR staff sits down for a few minutes (and a few laughs) with Camille Coduri, “Jackie Tyler” from the new series.

"Where's the mucus??" In our very first episode, we attempt to redeem three underrated or controversial Doctor Who adventures - the Fourth Doctor's camp Greek holiday The Horns of Nimon, the Tenth Doctor's run-in with his own appreciation society Love & Monsters, and the Sixth Doctor's genteel and understated debut The Twin Dilemma. Along the way, we speculate on the practical benefits of the Nimon modesty skirts, marvel at Jackie Tyler's taste in music, and wince at Jim's recollection of watching The Twin Dilemma with a neighbour.

The exiting thing that happens in this episode is that Gerri and Eugenia get to interview a 'New Who' companion, well, a reluctant companion! It is the one and only Jackie Tyler, Rose's mum. The wonderful, and friendly Camille Coduri. [more]
