For the first of two tales, Dan takes us to the old mining city of Ballarat , Australia, to explore reports of hauntings from the 19th century, and some even stranger reports of some ghost hoaxers. Such an entertaining story! Then,  a supposedly true modern encounter tale of someone who might give you something new to worry about. When you think of deceased relatives and other spirits always being near and watching over you, do you ever wonder how much of your life they actually see? Lynze offers us three tales this week. Her first is not that scary but a super fun mystery that has paranormal elements. Then, a big sister encourages her younger sister to make friends with the person in the mirror. What could go wrong? Lastly, a creepy tale of something in the basement of a rental house. LIVE EXPERIENCES: If you'd like to see us perform live this year, visit badmagicproductions.com for our annual summer camp or crimewaveatsea.com/scared for a spoopy cruise this fall! Thank you for continuing to send in your stories, Creeps and Peepers! Please keep doing so!!Send them to mystory@scaredtodeathpodcast.comSend everything else to info@scaredtodeathpodcast.comWant to be a Patron? Sam Anderson is a master of the essay form whose work spans a huge range of human experience and culture.  As a staff writer for The New York Times Magazine, Sam has interviewed and written about Weird Al Yankovic, writer John McPhee, NBA point guard Russell Westbrook, travel guru Rick Steves, Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami and the people trying to rescue Michaelanelo's David sculpture from ruin. He has spent time with the last two white rhinos on Earth and visited the bat volcano in Calakmul, Mexico. And he wrote a book, Boom Town, about Oklahoma City which is both a profile of one Midwestern municipality and a meditation on the dueling forces of rapacious development and “place making” that are at war in every American city, including Beacon.  In each of his projects, Sam brings a trademark personal touch, situating himself in relation to his subjects with a disarming vulnerability. He weaves in his anxiety, depression, his body image, feelings of loss and fear of death through introspective asides that illuminate rather than upstage his subjects.  In our interview, Sam talks about his early ambition to be a writer, his creative process, animals, aging, drawing, strategies for overcoming depression and much more.

Despite this economic bounty, Kalundborg's schools are underperforming and entertainment opportunities are limited. Many young keen people say it's peaceful but dull and can't wait to get out to study and work in bigger cities like the capital, Copenhagen. Welcome to another episode of the Life and Listings Podcast, I welcome Mac Hill, Strategic Partnerships Manager at Open to Close. Mac shares his extensive experience in real estate technology, including his decade-long journey at Boomtown and 2 years at Sisu, before transitioning to his current role. He discusses the importance of simplifying life for real estate agents through technology, highlighting how different tech stacks can streamline operations, improve efficiency, and ultimately drive growth. Mac also talks about the need to assess tech usage in real estate businesses to ensure tools are being effectively utilized. Hear more insights about real estate tech, business growth, and a glimpse into Mac's personal life as he balances work and family. Listen in!   “Sometimes a broker-provided system may be an invisible cost to the team because they're paying some sort of split or fee to the brokerage, but they don't see it as being something that they want to use. But in reality, there could be some features or functionality in that tool that they could use to create greater efficiency and some of your operations, or lead follow up, or what have you. So, I think it's kind of taking a look at everything that they're using, and trying to create some measurement around effective use of that and the cost of it as well. So starting there, and then continuing to to look at where they view gaps in their own business”- Mac Hill   Let's talk about: Strategic Partnerships and Real Estate Technology: Mac, the Strategic Partnerships Manager at Open to Close, emphasizes the importance of building relationships with real estate businesses, coaches, and technology solutions that support agents.  Evaluating and Optimizing Tech Stacks: Mac suggests creating a spreadsheet to track all tech subscriptions, measure their effectiveness, and decide whether to keep or cut certain tools based on their impact on the business. Open to Close Transaction Management Platform: Open to Close is a robust transaction management platform designed to streamline operations for teams and brokerages.  Mac's Approach to Relationships and Problem-Solving: Mac's superpowers include being a people person, a connector, and someone who doesn't take himself too seriously.  About Mac Hill: Mac is a veteran of the Real Estate technology space, having spent 10 years at BoomTown (building the training team, community team, and advocacy programs during that stint), two years at Sisu (managing community and ambassador relations), and is now helping Open to Close grow through strategic partnerships efforts. He has a passion for SaaS, as he has seen first hand the impact that technology can have on the profitability and quality of life of one's Real Estate business.  Outside of helping RE businesses with improving their tech stack, Mac loves spending much of his free time with his young family. A father of two girls, aged 4 and 2, he spends much of his free time learning about proper hair-doing-techniques, the ins and outs of painting nails, and keeping up with the latest princesses to join the Disney universe. Mining “yellowcake” was at the center of everyday life here, where generations of kids grew up playing on the tailings of radioactive ore and residents used mine waste as garden beds and doorstops. But then, residents started getting sick. Boom Town: A Uranium Story visits a company town that grew alongside America's nuclear stockpile, then was buried (literally) underground. Through interviews with historians, health experts, environmentalists, and uranium workers past and present, local documentarian Alec Cowan explores how uranium transformed the American West. The Osage Reign of Terror - dramatized recently in the 2023 award winning Martin Scorsese film, Killers of the Flower Moon based on the 2017 book of the same name - has been described as an epidemic of murders and mysterious deaths among the people of the Osage Nation. This is a wild story of a preposterous amount of corruption, conspiracy, and cold-blooded killing. Most experts state that at least sixty murders - and quite possibly HUNDREDS - were committed between 1918 and 1931, with the majority of murders taking place between 1921 and 1926 in just one rural county in Oklahoma. Watch the Suck on YouTube: https://youtu.be/miS0DxTcqRMMerch and more: www.badmagicproductions.com Timesuck Discord! https://discord.gg/tqzH89vWant to join the Cult of the Curious PrivateFacebook Group?
