Although this weekend's contest at The Thermal Club is not a championship points paying event, there's a lot of pride and money on the line in this special All-Star Race race that features elimination rounds culminating with a 12-car Main Event in the “Dash for Cash.” For more INDYCAR coverage, follow Bruce Martin at Twitter at @BruceMartin_500
While Josef Newgarden finally won the Indianapolis 500 at his 12th attempt in 2023, his right-hand man was just six races into his career as an IndyCar race engineer. Former Supercars engineer Luke Mason joins the KTM Summer Grill to relive that triumph and his road to IndyCar, talk what it means to work for Team Penske, and outline what he and Newgarden are focusing on in a bid for the 2024 championship.
What happens when you are a part of the team that wins the Indianapolis 500? Find out, with our very own, Luke Mason. Luke takes us behind the scenes of winning the Indy500, from the breathtaking celebrations, overwhelming post race emotions, the strategy and the secrets behind the one-lap dash that ultimately decided the fate of the 107th running of the Indy500 - including the words of wisdom before that exhilarating moment. Plus, hugs with The Captain - Roger Penske and working with legendary boss and strategist, Tim Cindric. This Aussie character's impressive track record also includes being a race-winning Supercars engineer with Erebus Motorsport, where he triumphed with Will Davison in Perth in 2015. We're going to stand by our BIG claims here and say that this week's guest is one of the PIONEERS of Digi Sports in the AFL landscape. A guy who needs little introduction, it's our honour to have the one-and-only Luke Mason on this week's show. We're diving into his near 15 years of experience working in Digi Sports landscape across the AFL, BBL, VFL and ICC (that's a lot of acronyms). Maso also opens up about his time away from sport, the warning signs for burnout and how a break is not always the worst thing. IF YOU'RE SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO WORK IN DIGI SPORTS ONE DAY, THIS IS THE CHAT TO LISTEN TO. Enjoy and remember to follow us on Twitter, Instagram and YouTube! xoxox
