A troubled youth led him to a remote ranch deep in the wilderness, a place designed to break and rebuild wayward boys. Grueling hikes and dramatic exposure to the elements. But something else lurked in those woods—something ancient, something watching. When night fell, the encounters began. A towering figure with the legs of a goat, strange eyes like embers, and a presence that felt more than just flesh and blood. Hear Jay's story of survival through his darkest days and how it lead to his own faith journey. blurrycreatures.com/members Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Prophecy Radio episode #129 brings Karen and Kristen back together again to discuss the next two chapters of Percy Jackson and the Chalice of the Gods. They also dip into a quick look at the brand new Percy Jackson cookbook, full of some truly unique recipes. New episodes of Prophecy Radio will air every other week. All discussions are PG-13. News and Updates (00:06:59) Check out this fun Reel for a better glimpse at the PJO premiere last year Check out Graci Kim's website to sign up for the Dreamslinger league. Karen got a copy of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Official Cookbook as a late Christmas present. It's a perfect gift for Percy Jackson fans, especially if they like to throw parties for premiere weeks or in celebration of new books. Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:21:21) Let's start off our Chalice of the Gods discussion with chapter 28, "It Starts Raining Toys" Gary is more than a little shell-shocked at Percy's choices. Percy takes a moment to reflect on his mom's parents, and what it would be like if they had survived. Gary wants to know why Percy offered hugs instead of muscle. We are grateful that Gary has agreed that Percy has more life to live. Gary has one more thing to ask Percy before he excuses himself in a poof! Not everyone is like the gods, and Percy gives Gary hope. Annabeth and Grover congratulate Percy on his brilliant gamble. A hula hoop falls from the sky, which means Ganymede has a message for our trio. Zeus has invited his mom over, which means, the chalice needs to find its way home... now. Our favorite lines and moments We also get to discuss Chalice of the Gods chapter 29, "I Teeter on the Precipice of Mount Brunch" Percy hates brunch. Like HATES it. What the heck do gods eat for brunch, anyway? No, Percy cannot FEDEx the chalice back to Ganymede. Major bummer. Annabeth heads to school, while Percy and Grover head to the Empire State Building. Grover knows someone who can get them into the brunch, as long as they find the side door to the Olympus kitchens. Percy tries on Annabeth's Yankees cap of invisibility. It makes him feel fuzzy and weird. We brainstorm better names for a satyr dating app. Satyr-er leave a bit to be desired. Grover shakes his woolmaker to distract the Empire State security guards so Percy can sneak onto the elevator. Percy worries the chalice may have a "one ring" thing going on. Our favorite lines and moments Feedback (00:53:35) Maria Steinmetz reached out on Instagram to let us know she signed up for a class with Roshani Chokshi. We hope its as amazing as we imagine! Check out our Spotify playlists if you're looking for certain episodes that correlate with certain chapter discussions. Thanks for listening, and tune in next time for episode 130, where we'll discuss the latest Percy Jackson news, along with Chalice of the Gods chapters 30 & 31. Greetings all - I'm excited to extend a special invitation for men who wish to dive into the cauldron of mythopoetic masculinity and eros. But before I get to that, I want to acknowledge a milestone: it's been over five years since I began The Mythic Masculine podcast. Time, as always, passes like a blink. This journey began after my previous film project, Amplify Her, which explored feminine archetypes through the lives of DJs and producers. That collaboration had me seek out writers like Marion Woodman (Dancing in the Flames) and Clarissa Pinkola Estés (Women Who Run With Wolves) and opened my path into mythopoetics. In the wake of Amplify Her, I realized I knew little about the masculine archetypal realm. When audiences asked if I'd do a similar project for men, the idea for a podcast took root. I was inspired by Iron John by Robert Bly—a book I found in my grandfather's study after his passing. That encounter was a doorway to the lineage of the mythopoetic men's movement, a movement that once sparked men's circles across the country. As I interviewed guests like storyteller Martin Shaw, Bill Kauth (Co-founder ManKind Project), and storyteller Michael Meade, the podcast became a space to weave voices from past and present, exploring shifting understandings of gender, myth, and archetypes. If you're curious about the history and insights from these five years, you can access my webinar An Introduction to Mythopoetic Masculinity here.In the last year and a half, The Mythic Masculine evolved. A pivotal moment came in the summer of 2023, when my longtime friend Deus Fortier and I hosted MXM—an event exploring masculinity, eros, and myth. We combined Deus' somatic and breathwork practices with my mythopoetic flavourings. The experience affirmed that men need spaces to explore these “forbidden” topics, reclaim vulnerability, and awaken their noble, erotic essence. This offering evolved into Awakening the Wild Erotic, which we've now held multiple times over the last year. For those unable to attend in person, we created The Deep Masculine, an online cohort blending ritual, somatics, and myth. Now, Deus and I rre thrilled to announce the next stage: an ongoing online men's circle, The Satyr's Den.Satyrs—wild, primal beings of Greek myth—embody the uninhibited joy of nature and erotic vitality. The Satyr's Den is a space for men to reclaim this energy in a way that honors life. Too often, men either misuse this power or suppress it altogether. This circle offers a path to mature, embodied Eros and relational mastery. The Satyr's Den includes:* Monthly Live Group Calls* Exclusive Podcast Conversations* Transformative practices and rituals* Webinars and community supportThis is for men with prior experience in men's work, shadow work, or similar transformational spaces. If you're new to this terrain, consider attending Awakening the Wild Erotic or Deep Masculine first.Special Offer: Join by the end of December to lock in a founding member rate of $49/monthYou'll also gain immediate access to an my conversation with Deus about his journey through the ISTA (International School of Temple Arts) series. If you feel called, apply here and see if the Satyr's Den is right for you.Thank you for walking this mythic path with me. More offerings are on the horizon—webinars, guest teachers, and courses in 2025. The journey continues, and I'm excited for what's to come.In gratitude,IM Get full access to The Mythic Masculine at themythicmasculine.substack.com/subscribe

Let's Talk About Myths, Baby! Greek & Roman Mythology Retold
Liv finishes telling the story of the only surviving Satyr play, Euripides' Cyclops and Euripides' take on Odysseus and Polyphemus...and a chorus of d*** swinging satyrs. Speedy percussion meets screwface basslines: the Parisian club maestros are in session. Trying to find one word to describe the music of Amor Satyr and Siu Mata could run you into difficulty. But if we were to try, we'd reach for amphibian: slippery, nimble and evading borders with ease. With solo and shared releases on labels like SSPB, HARDLINE, TraTraTrax and their own WAJANG, they have evident kinship with what moves contemporary dance floors. The pair are also linked to the rise of an alchemical style they like to call "speed dembow"—taking the looping rhythm of dembow before pitching it up to modern club tempos and adding muscle. Combining tribal techno, baile funk, dubstep, jungle, dancehall and beyond, their RA Podcast makes for one hell of a ride, with over two hours of romping percussion, lysergic effects, high drama and plenty of wobble. @amorsatyr @siumata Read more at ra.co/podcast/948

They come across a Satyr looking beast and the Ape man, who question Montgomery about Prendick; the animals believed him to be like them. They move off and come to find a mangled rabbit, and run immediately to inform Moreau of the issue. Moreau decides that they need to make an example of the one who broke the law. They make their way to the jungle, where in a clearing Moreau uses a ram's horn to call the beast folk to them. All bar 4 arrive, and start immediately chanting "The Law" in front of the three. After looking around, and seeing who is missing, Moreau blows the horn again prompting the remaining few to show themselves. He looks for the leopard man, and Prendick is startled by the look of guilt and fear in it's face. Coming to what Prendick believes to be a last resort, the Leopard man attacks Moreau and tries to flee from them into the jungle. A chase ensues, with the entirety of the Beast Folk and 3 men in pursuit leading to Prendick finding the beast. A wave of compassion washes over him, and realising that the beast would be better off no being tormented by Moreau, puts it out of its misery. The Directed DetectiveTwo hosts.
