The central work of our lives over the last 15 years or so has been as practicing integral development coaches, and as teachers of this way of guiding and supporting others. In this conversation we explore what it is to be a ‘coach' in this way, to use our humanity, intelligence, hearts and life force to grow wings and then to help other people grow wings of their own. It's such a rewarding, life-giving endeavour, and it teaches us ever more about being a person and taking care of others. Join us for an exploration of what ‘guiding people up and out' might be, with inspiration from a lovely and inspiring poem by Ellie Steel. This week's conversation is hosted, as always, by Lizzie Winn and Justin Wise of Thirdspace. “The concept that sits right at the heart of a sane and meaningful life,” writes Oliver Burkeman “is something like aliveness.” In this conversation we explore what it is to attend to aliveness, how we might come to notice its presence, and consider steps any of us can take to cultivate it. And we talk about how vital this is in an age where we may find ourselves encouraged in many places to become part of an algorithm - to act in life as if we were machines rather than creative beings who are part of a vast and inherently creative universe. This week's conversation is hosted, as always, by Lizzie Winn and Justin Wise of Thirdspace. Episode Overview 00:00 Introduction 03:03 Exploring Aliveness: A Central Theme 05:54 Navigating by Aliveness: Insights and Reflections 09:10 The Distinction Between Aliveness and Happiness 11:59 Embracing the Full Spectrum of Human Experience 14:52 Creatures of Creation: Our Relationship with Life 17:55 Intimacy with Existence: The Heart of Aliveness 20:56 The Cost of Control: Reconnecting with Aliveness 27:13 The Dance of Control and Aliveness 30:01 Curiosity as a Pathway to Freedom 33:04 The Nature of Care and Connection Here's our source for this week: The Path of Aliveness The concept that sits right at the heart of a sane and meaningful life, I'm increasingly convinced, is something like aliveness. It goes by other names, too, none of which quite nail it – but it's the one thing that, so long as you navigate by it, you'll never go too far wrong. Sometimes it feels like a subtle electrical charge behind what's happening, or a mildly heightened sense of clarity, or sometimes like nothing I can put into words at all. I freely concede it's a hopelessly unscientific idea. But I'm pretty sure it's what Joseph Campbell meant when he said that most of us aren't really seeking the meaning of life, but rather “an experience of being alive… so that we actually feel the rapture” – although personally I don't think it's always rapturous, per se – “of being alive.”In literal terms, of course, “aliveness” can't be the right word here, because technically everyone's alive all the time, whereas aliveness comes and goes. Still, I know it when I feel it. And I definitely know it when my misguided efforts to exert too much control over reality cause it to drain away. And so an excellent question to ask yourself – when you're facing a tough decision, say, or wondering if you're on the right track – is: “Does this feel like it's taking me in the direction of greater aliveness?”Crucially, aliveness isn't the same as happiness. As the Zen teacher Christian Dillo explains in his engrossing book The Path of Aliveness, you can absolutely feel alive in the midst of intense sadness. Aliveness, he writes, “isn't about feeling *better*; it's about *feeling*better.” When I feel aliveness in my work, it's not because every task is an unadulterated pleasure; and when I feel it in my close relationships, it's not because I've transcended the capacity to get annoyed by other people – because believe me, I haven't. But to whatever extent I *do* manage what Dillo refers to as fully inhabiting my experience, life is good, in a deep sense, and more vibrant, and I feel more connected to others – and overall, happiness tends to predominate… I think it might be the key to understanding how to think and feel about AI, how to respond to it, how to integrate it into our lives or not – and how to ensure, as technology marches on, that we don't lose sight of what really matters for a meaningfully productive life. Most obviously, aliveness is what generally feels absent from the written and visual outputs of ChatGPT and its ilk, even when they're otherwise of high quality… It makes you wonder if Wendell Berry had it right when he wrote: “It is easy for me to imagine that the next great division of the world will be between people who wish to live as creatures and people who wish to live as machines.”… I think it's good to stay fully, even slightly foolishly, committed to the idea that humans doing human things, with other humans, is and will remain at the vital heart of human existence. Because otherwise what on earth's the point? In episode 165, I sit down with my friend Stan Lake — author, poet, naturalist, filmmaker, and veteran — to dig into his new poetry collection, “Toad in a Glass Jar,” published by Dead Reckoning Collective. Stan and I have shared campfires, conversations about art, music, and nature, and countless stories about the weird, wild intersections of service and life after the military. His writing pulls from his deep love of nature and his lived experience as a veteran, exploring the messy integration and disintegration that comes with transition. Our discussion gets to the heart of why art and honest storytelling around combat trauma, war, and the veteran transition matter and not just for those who've served, but for anyone who cares about understanding real human experience in all its contradictions and complexity. Storytelling is more than just catharsis; it's survival. Veterans need to connect with each other and with broader audiences, to name, shape, and share their stories — including the hard and the sensitive stuff — because it's how we combat isolation, build meaning, and lower the risk of mental health challenges that can haunt our community. As a veteran, author, and creative, I believe it's absolutely necessary to claim the power in our own voices, whether through poetry, essays, music, or conversation. If this episode shows anything, it's that writing and art aren't luxuries but essential tools for processing experience, finding connection, and supporting each other through the ongoing work of transition. If you've got something to say, say it. If you need a community, build it. Your story matters. We need to hear it. Through MMHS, he offers Holistic Health Care with an emphasis on the Endo-Cannabinoid System."I really love that every day still brings fresh challenges and new knowledge," -Dr. Geoff Dr. Geoff believes in using Full Spectrum and Whole Plant preparations to optimise the Entourage effect. "Cannabis as a medicine is intensely personal and needs fine tuning to each Client. Together ,we set Goals and then work together to achieve them."

In this episode of Full Spectrum, Kelley Drye's Communications team provides a detailed “First Take” on the Federal Communications Commission's July 24, 2025 Open Meeting. Special Counsel Mike Dover is joined by partners Chip Yorkgitis and Hank Kelly, and senior associates Jennifer Wainwright and Winafred Brantl, to break down the Commission's major actions and rulemakings, including: • A multi-part Report and Order on pole attachments that introduces new application timelines, advance notice requirements, meet-and-confer obligations, and expanded self-help rights for attachers • Updates to designated entity eligibility rules ahead of the AWS-3 spectrum auction (Auction 113), including revised bidding credits for small and rural service providers • A direct final rule eliminating 11 outdated regulations—such as rules for analog TV, payphones, and telegraphs—while outlining a broader FCC strategy to streamline future rulemaking • A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) to modernize rules for network transitions, including proposals to reduce or eliminate certain network change disclosures and streamline Section 214 discontinuance processes • Another NPRM revisiting the FCC's slamming, cramming, and truth-in-billing rules, asking whether current protections are still necessary and proposing a simplified, unified framework The episode also touches on broader themes like AI-driven fraud, transparency in billing, and the agency's increased use of the Administrative Procedure Act's direct final rule mechanism. Whether you work in broadband, wireless, telecom, or policy, this recap offers a sharp, practical rundown of where FCC priorities are headed next.

Social Yet Distanced: A View with an Emotionalorphan and Friends
“Unlock the Power of Cannabinoids” Hi, Jack Varnell from the Social Yet Distanced Podcast... You may remember this from past episodes, but did you know your body has an entire system designed just to interact with cannabis? It's called the Endocannabinoid System—and it helps regulate everything from stress and sleep to pain, mood, and inflammation. We have mentioned it previously, as the keys and locks and traffic cop for balance and healing. When it's out of balance? You feel it. Fatigue, anxiety, chronic pain—it all gets worse. But here's the good news: The separate components of the cannabis provide necessary balance building by using Phytocannabinoids from hemp and cannabis—components like CBD, CBG, CBN, and CBC—can help restore that balance. They mimic your body's own cannabinoids and get your system back on track.Remember, not all CBD is the same.
"Your heartbreak is a gift."My beloved podcast family, I'm teary-eyed as I'm writing these words. It has been such a long time and I've missed you so damn much. I'm sorry for being away from the podcast for so long. Life has been overwhelming, beautiful, deep, sad, happy, surprising, expansive and colorful. That being said, I couldn't imagine a better guest for my "comeback" than the beautiful Ita Morrissey. Ita is a powerful force in the world of human connection and transformation. A masterful midwife that rebirths individuals into their true potential. Working with The MANA Movement and her own personal artistic practice through theatre and writing she is driven by empowering humanity to reclaim their innate knowing and creativity, and thus creating a better more beautiful world. I've worked with Ita at the beginning of the year and went through intense times of change and uncertainty with her. She guided me safely to places within me that I haven't been able to connect with in years and helped me to unlock some of my hearts hidden treasures, gifts and longings. Here's to freedom and love everyone. I trust you're moving well out there and are keeping your loved ones close. I miss and love you all. Thanks for your ongoing support.

Brewed using a boatload of intense Northwest hops, we boil this continually hopped IPA for a full 60 minutes, adding more than 60 hop additions continuously to create a bold and timeless flavor. Music creates stories, and sometimes those stories unfold in unexpected ways. In this episode, see how five recent singles from diverse K-pop and J-pop artists create a complete relationship arc when experienced together – from fiery beginnings to vulnerable endings.Kicking things off BABYMONSTER's spicy summer anthem "HOT SAUCE," brings back 80s MC hip-hop vibes while showcasing YG Entertainment's talent for creating girl groups with attitude. Featuring brass-like synths and old-school hip-hop beats it's an irresistible soundtrack for summer parties and pool gatherings. Next, we explore KARD's sultry "Touch" from their eighth mini-album, delving into how this co-ed group's distinct vocal dynamics create a magnetic listening experience where each member shines individually while still creating perfect harmony. The journey continues with WONHO's comeback "Better Than Me," his mesmerizing vocals and confident delivery remind listeners why he remains a solo powerhouse. The musical relationship deepens as we transition to more gentle territory with two members of ORβIT (performing solo). よんふん's (Younghoon) dreamy "Lovestruck," whose gentle, laid-back production creates an almost ethereal atmosphere that feels like floating on cotton candy clouds, and 安藤诚明's (Ando Tomoaki) heartfelt "Never Enough," where he delivers a raw, emotionally charged performance that immediately draws listeners in with its unexpected vulnerability. What makes these selections particularly fascinating is how they unintentionally create a narrative – from the confident flirtation of new romance through deepening connection and eventual uncertainty.BABYMONSTER: Instagram X YouTube HOT SAUCEKARD: Instagram X YouTube TouchWONHO: Instagram X YouTube Better Than Meよんふん: Instagram Lovestruck 安藤诚明: Instagram Never Enough ORβIT: YouTube Instagram XSupport the showPlease help Music Elixir by rating, reviewing, and sharing the episode. On today's episode of Full Spectrum, Special Counsel Mike Dover provides our “First Take” on the Federal Communications Commission's June 26, 2025 Open Meeting and other recent developments. Mike begins with an update on notable changes at the Commission, following the resignations of Commissioners Starks and Simington and the swift Senate confirmation of Republican Commissioner Trusty, who joined the FCC for the June meeting. He then discusses three major items adopted at the June Open Meeting: • A Report and Order streamlining cable television rate regulations and compliance requirements, eliminating outdated forms, methodologies, and certain equipment rules in line with the FCC's "Delete, Delete, Delete" initiative. • A Fifth Report and Order removing the professional engineering certification requirement for biannual Broadband Data Collection filings, instead permitting certification by qualified engineers with specific credentials or experience. • A Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing to eliminate FCC rule references that require telecommunications relay service providers to support the rarely used ASCII text telephony format, seeking comments on the proposal. Mike also notes the Supreme Court's June 27 decision upholding the constitutionality of the Federal Universal Service Fund (USF) contribution mechanism, ensuring its continued operation under existing law. For those interested in the details of these actions and their implications for the communications industry, tune in for this concise overview of the FCC's June proceedings.

How did you pick your kid's name? It's my favorite question to ask families as soon as I meet them. It tells me about:Partnership Dynamics “Oh we got in a big fight over that one! But my wife had the final say like she always does…”Family History “My grandmother had died a few weeks before she was born so we named her after her”And MOST importantly it tells me The vision they had for their kid even before they were born“I wanted a strong, masculine son so I went with Alexander… like The Great”So much wrapped up in a few short syllables. Names are like labels – they can give us feelings of comfort and safety but can also be limiting and confining. And labels don't allow for the full spectrum of our beingness. On this month's “Good Enough Parenting” episode, I share where my name came from and explore why we are so drawn to labeling our kids with diagnoses that may or may not suit them. In this episode:How diagnoses like ADHD and anxiety are more of a continuum than a binary
What if you could have everything—the success, the rest, the freedom in your body—and it could actually feel easy? In this powerful episode of Let's Get the Skinny, I sit down with Hussa Al Hassawi (@hussa.lifeconsultancy), life coach, mother, and 10/10 alum, for a raw and radiant conversation about the lies we've been sold as women: that to be successful, we must sacrifice; that to be thin, we must suffer; and that to be lovable, we must hustle.Hussa shares her deeply personal experience of finally dropping into her body after a lifetime of emotional eating, people-pleasing, and operating in survival mode. Through the 10/10 Method, she didn't just release food obsession—she reclaimed her power, pleasure, and the peace she didn't know she was allowed to have. You'll hear how slowing down brought her more money, more joy, and the ability to nourish herself in ways she never imagined—without the scale, the guilt, or the chaos. If you've ever felt like you're doing everything “right” but still feel stuck in your body, your hunger, or your life—this episode is your invitation to pause, feel, and choose a new way forward.

Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions: Kellie: Hi Dr. Cabral! I have been with your program for almost 6 months now. I have completed the Vit-Tox tests and have gone through the FM Detox twice and now going through the CBO Protocol. I just turned 38 years old and I feel like my joints are of an 80 year old. I have played soccer since age 5 and still play on a competitive coed league to this day. I have played many other team/contact sports in the past. I have had past ankle, knee, and hip injuries due to sports and I do see possible knee and hip replacements in my future. When I do my daily workouts or go up/down stairs my ankles, knees, hips, and back crack or pop so easily and so much. I don't see glucosamine chondroitin as a supplement in your shop. Are there any suggestions you may have to keep my joints healthier? Thank you!! Jon: Hey Dr Cabral, looking for advice and i feel like there's a population that struggles with this same topic. My Dr is recommending a statin due to my high LDL-C of 230. My LDL has gone up after cleaning up my diet in the last 7 months however ALL of my markers tested for have improved. Triglycerides have gone from over 200 to 100, HDL is up to 60, VLDL has dropped from 30 to 15, A1C is 5.2, blood pressure is normal for the first time ever, and so onr. My personal opinion is that i'm healthier than ever and i can't imagine having to go on what seems like a lifetime drug due to one marker being off and i don't buy the story that LDL alone is a concern for me. Curious on your opinion here and if you think i have something to worry about. Thanks!! Annette: I've been diagnosed with nephrocalcinosis by conventional doctors who say the cause is genetic. I have adjusted my diet to low sodium, low oxalate foods. The doctors say my next step is to try to get on the kidney transplant list before I need dialysis. I take potassium citrate and a calcitriol. Is there anything I can do to improve my kidney function? Summer: Hi Dr. Cabral! I heard you say that it's best to replace aluminum cookware, but not necessary, and instead to use parchment paper as a barrier. Doesn't the aluminum off gas when heated? How does parchment paper prevent the aluminum from getting into the food? Thanks! By the way, to all my fellow listeners: please contact your state representatives and let them know you do not consent to geo-engineering in your skies. Several states have now banned it. We could all live healthier lives if we could work toward eliminating toxins and heavy metals including aluminum that are regularly being sprayed into our air. Ann: Thank you Dr Cabral- you are changing SO many lives - thank you for all of your wisdom and teachings:) I have a question about Magnesium. My cortisol was high at my last lab test, and I took Full Spectrum magnesium for 12 weeks, and now I take Cal Mag daily. I also understand that I can take Calming Magnesium and CBD at night to help with sleep.I don't want to take too much for too long for my body, but I still think I need the help for my cortisol levels/ sleep. What combination of the above do you recommend? Is there a length of time that is too long to be on Full Spectrum Magnesium? PS. I do the 3-2-1 protocol, take Adrenal Soothe and will be repeating my big 5 this fall. Thank you again! This week on Ojai Talk of the Town, we're joined by storyteller Megan Dolan and Ojai Storytelling Festival's executive director Kara Lakes. Megan shares the inspiration behind her powerful solo show, Not the Right Mom: One Mother's Misadventures in Autism, a Full Spectrum Comedy — a deeply funny, raw, and tender look at parenting on the spectrum, and what it means to show up when you feel wildly unqualified.Kara - herself the mother of an autistic child - tells us why the Storytelling Festival is bringing this moving performance to the Temple of the Oaks on May 7, and why stories like Megan's matter now more than ever. We talk about vulnerability, humor, and how storytelling builds empathy, one laugh — and one tear — at a time.We also talked about the dehumanizing remarks made by HHS secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr, how family members deal with their autistic siblings, and why and how the power of stories can overcome fear and ignorance. We did not talk about Marie Curie's strange death, the Lakers' early playoff exit or the rise of inauthentic Texas barbecue. For more information, check out OjaiStoryFest.org.
We've had Annie Patterson as a guest many times on NSR programs, but today we're going full-spectrum on Annie. She's known by many as a folk singer and the co-creator of the group singing songbooks, Rise Up Singing and Rise Again, but she also performs a variety of music genres like swing, blues, soul, gospel and more with groups like Dear Ella and Girls from Mars, and others.
The new album from the Virginia singer-songwriter and boygenius member was heavily inspired by classical art.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy
