It's our Nintendo 64th episode, Theophiloi, so we're taking a break from our usual Book study to dive into the least canonical Bible-adjace content we can! Not approved by the church, not approved by Nintendo of America, and barely approved by the LifeWay Christian Store, it's the extremely dubious catalogue of "Biblical" video games by Wisdom Tree. Join us as we spend a Sunday Funday waging Spiritual Warfare on some Bible Adventures. Don't forget Baby Moses! Topics of discussion: Bible Adventures, King of Kings, Exodus: Journey to the Promised Land, Joshua & the Battle of Jericho, Sunday Funday, Bible Buffet, Spiritual Warfare, MMXIII Anno Ludivici, the Mario Brothers enemies most and least like eagles, the Lord's presence in Fire Pro Wrestling, the Nintendo Seal of Quality, an inappropriate ranking of Miriam, Holy City Ransom, a pitch (ha-HA!) for Bible Adventures 2, J. Jonah Jameson vs. Mary, games that old people like, the sword expert and the clown, "The Ride of Life" (1995), H*ckraiser (the film), the canon accuracy of Bayonetta. Hymnal: "The Game" by Mötorhead, "Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring" from the Bible Adventures OST. Offertory: As Enoch writes, "Whoever of you spends gold or silver for his brother's sake, he will receive ample treasure in the world to come." http://ko-fi.com/apocrypals

Memorable bit of advice: Remember when you're frustrated with your superiors' decisions, the advice Patrick's dad gave to Patrick's frustrated 16-year-old brother, "It's his hot dog stand. If he wants to serve them with peanut butter, that's his decision." It helps you step back and see why folks might make decisions differently from the ones you'd make.Bucket list: Learn to play the drums. Cronaca di una notte di circa 2019 anni fa, in Giudea: due genitori alla ricerca di una camera in alta stagione. Un primordiale cinepanettone, senza scoregge ma con molti colpi di scena e l'immancabile "Una poltrona per due". This is Day 11 of my Advent-themed podcast series. I'm posting a new podcast each day through Christmas. Today's scripture is Matthew 1:20-25. The song featured in the podcast is a breathtaking new version of "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" by the great trumpeter Herb Alpert, from his brand new Christmas album, The Christmas Wish. I blog regularly at revbrentwhite.com.
Matthew Green--Hamilton, ON councilor--is enthusiastically in favor of video recording council meetings. He says it holds people accountable for their less-than-polite behavior. He also describes how having a rotating deputy mayor who runs the council meetings is ill-advised. City Council Chronicles provides reviews of city council meetings from across the world. Whoever wrote this song in the Renaissance period came up with some pretty "hip" chord progressions. Here's sort of a "Riverdance" version of the tune. Listen for a little piece of Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" in the middle.
This piece was originally part of a larger work but was transcribed to piano and given the title "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring." It is often played for weddings and other significant events. This recording was made on a studio upright piano.
Welcome to the 21st Episode. This Johann Sebastian Bach's Jesu- Joy of Man's Desiring.
This week Sue Lawley's castaway is the Welsh painter, Sir Kyffin Williams. It was only when he was invalided out of the army because of his epilepsy that Kyffin decided to paint. "You are not normal. You should do art" was one doctor's verdict. Since then, no artist has done more to portray the brooding, mountainous landscape of North Wales. He chooses eight records to take with him to the mythical island.
