This October North Carolina will have their first ever Masonic Con. The event is being put together by Brothers Matt Parker, Clint Green, and Cole Kubicki. For more information go to Click on ncmrs.ticketspice.com for more information and ticket sales. Speakers will be: Joe Martinez Robert Johnson from Whence Came You Podcast Jon Ruark Jason Richards Shaun Bradshaw And some others as time and commitment permit. Matt Parker opens by telling us a little about Masonic Con in his state and how a newly made Master Mason Cole Kubicki has jumped into the breach to help them organize this great event. This one will be the very first one of its kind in the Southeast. WOW!!! Once we talk about Masonic Con and all that's going on I ask Matt Parker about the topics that he focuses on as Mason and the education he wants to impart to us all. No matter how you look at it, there's something about Freemasonry that tells you to keep looking deeper into our past, history, symbols, and our mysterious origins. Brother Matt Parker shares some of his ideas as to what the early origins and meanings of Freemasonry were and are. He shares powerful insights into Freemasonry and makes a very important observation by saying, “We have thousands of masons who are never initiated” I would have to second the motion from Brother Parker. Brother Cole Kubicki, a newly raised Master Mason jumps into the conversation and shares his experience so far with Freemasonry and what he expects from here on out. The newer generation is coming in wanting deeper connections to our past and a wealth of information and we must meet that challenge head-on some of these Masonic Conventions are a reaction to this inner calling not just from them but from many of us long-time Masons. The fraternity needs to turn within and face our own fears and embrace what's already there for us to unpackage. In this episode I talk about briefly about MasonicCon in South Pasadena Lodge No.290 on July 22 thru 24. More info to come. I read an article I found on the internet. It's something I already spoke about before which is a book called “The Early Masonic Catechism” by Douglas Knoop, G.P. Jones and Douglas Hamer. The book came out in 1943 but was reprinted in 1963 with some very important updates added to help us understand the evolution of our ritual and three-degree system. “The very existence of this book, ‘The Early Masonic Catechisms', cuts through those misguided allusions by cutting the primary issues that challenges genuine Masonic research, by highlighting that not only did such diversity exist, but also that earliest records of Masonic ritual, which date from 1696, highlight this fact. This is the purpose of the book, to present both the earliest examples of Masonic ritual, and presenting the source material in full, each with a presented review of the history of each document, giving the academic appraisal of the validity of each, offering a balanced assessment.” The book was not widely printed and had limited runs, so they are very hard to find and expensive. A hard cover back copy runs for $300 and a soft bound will run you $247.50 or more. So, the question is, why don't you or I have a copy of this book, does your lodge library have one and if so, are they sharing its contents with you? If not, why not? Always work at increasing your masonic knowledge base. Prepare, prevail, and prosper. MasonicCon 2018 has come and gone. It was a lot of work which resulted in an incredible experience for all. But what IS MasonicCon, and what should Masonic Education really be about? 3rd Time's A Charm. This was the 3rd year Ezekiel Bates Lodge hosted MasonicCon, and this year was better than ever before. The brethren of the lodge learned from the past two events and used the knowledge gained to reorganize, bettter prepare, and execute a better event. From arranging the speakers and vendors to bringing in a food truck, the event's execution was on point. The actual content of the event was even better, too. It's About Sharing The Light. Quality Light. Wor. Co-Host Simmons will be the first to tell you - it's not just about accepting ANY speaker or vendor. There were a number of speakers that offered to come give a presentation, but ultimately were turned down. MasonicCon is about providing not just education, but quality education - the better to further the Craft. The vendors present were of a similar caliber - only those with quality, worthwhile products were present. A Meaningful Day For Many Men, Masons, and Friends Alike. Based on feedback during and after the event, it's clear that this event was a deeply meaningful day for everyone involved. Reviews and commentary continue to roll in all over the internet about the friendship and brotherly love that was felt that day, and about how much everyone learned and was entertained by the speakers. All in all, it's safe to say MasonicCon was a deeply impactful day, and many Masons and friends are eagerly awaiting the next. Prepare yourself for MasonicCon 2019. What's in this episode: We talk all about Masonic Con 2018. Men from the lodge putting it on talk about what it’s all about, where it came from, and where it’s going. As well as a bit of discussion on masonic education in general and the value this all has for the craft. Historical Light has not been keeping our intended schedule lately. Some of you know the reasons behind that but never the less we are getting back on track! Tonight we are doing a recap on my recent trip to Masonic Con 2018 in Attleboro Mass. where I presented this year on the importance of preserving our Masonic History. We are stoked to have friend and Brother W:. Rob Jackson on the show to help us with the recap. He was also in attendance this year helps provide another view of the event.
What could go wrong? The reliable hard work of a Mason is a reputation being solidly upheld by Brothers Matt Menard and Jay Dahl. But what do they do... and how do they do it? Every once in a while ya gotta have fun. The night before Masonic Con 2018 about 50 Masons descended upon Bog Iron Brewing for a special event. Bryan and Darrell, midway through the evening, disappeared into the back room of the brewhouse to chat with Brother Matt Menard, co-owner and brewer at Bog Iron. They had an opportunity to talk not only about beer, but about being a small business owner and how Freemasonry affects that. Later, Chef Brother Jay Dahl joined us to give his insight into the same matters - and while he may not have brought any beer with him, he DID make the delicious food you can at times hear us noshing on. What's in this episode: Darrell and Bryan attend the pre-Masonic Con event at Bog Iron Brewing and find themselves in the back room of the brewhouse chatting with Brothers Matt Menard and Jay Dahl about beer, food, and Masonic Small Business.
