Josh & Tanner sit down with the famous real-life Pokémon researcher, Dr. Lava, who is also a long-time listener and sometimes benefactor (aka with Season 2's "Professor Magma"). We have a late-night/early morning session and talk about his history with Pokémon and the show (00:58); the Pokémon he thinks is "coolest" (09:50); all the Pokémon games he's played (11:30); our thoughts on Brilliant Diamond, Shining Pearl, & Pokémon Legends (14:16); his experiences playing the games again along with us (24:14); stories about working with Pokémon series translators (33:20); his favorite Pokémon game (38:20); and of course the Pokémon that makes him barf (41:54); Dr. Lavy's Sweetie (45:35); as well as his favorite "lost Pokémon" and feature that he wishes they'd bring into a future game (51:36). It's one hell of a 'sode. Notes: Thanks again to Dr. Lava for joining us and helping us navigate this wild and crazy Pokéarth. Check out his Twitter @DrLavaYT or on YouTube at DidYouKnowGaming?
On their way to the Pokémon League, Bree van Durr & Steve Human meet Uwu, a mysterious traveler who turns out to be a fantastically rich Pokémon-eating maniac and also one of Bree's most indulgent clients. HM Friend of the pod Anthony Smith joins us again on a sensual episode where, along with traversing Victory Road and taking on the Elite Four, the trainers also discuss the culinary delights—and best ways to prepare—the Pokémon on their teams. Then, they round out the feast with the spiciest battle royale yet heard on EXP. Share. (And they had such a fun time doing it that Josh & Tanner will be chasing waterfalls next episode!) Notes: Thanks again to Anthony for joining us! You can check out his Twitter (and his fantastic Escape the Room game) @AnthonyBLSmith and on Instagram @anthonybriansmith (he was hacked).
Bree van Durr and Steve Human encounter Alanna “Professor Okun,” legendary trainer and Pokémon authority, while at Canalave Library. First, the trio cleans up Iron Island while getting riley with Riley and her Lucario, before things take a turn and a huge explosion at Lake Valor turns everyone's attention south. At Lake Valor, they're confronted with a Magikarp genocide and are quickly forced to deal with a series of Team Galactic Commanders—including their old arch-nemesis Mars and a couple of freaks who look like characters from Zoolander. Ultimately, they dispense of them before heading north through Mt. Coronet toward Snowpoint City and encounter nightmare after nightmare along the way. Basically, it’s a long episode and it's full of perils. Notes: Thanks to Alanna Okun for joining us! Give her a follow @alanna (really) and check out her work at http://www.vox.com/the-goods

They call Sinnoh the "land of myths," and not just because at this point listeners thought Josh & Tanner would never reach it. But here we are, baby: season four, Gen IV, and a whole new cast of characters. In the premiere episode, we learn about who will be taking on the Sinnoh League, and how we'll be covering the differences between Pokémon Diamond/Pearl, and Platinum—as for the first time ever we're playing the third game of the main releases. Then, we get to the g-d story, including initial thoughts on Professor Rowan, our rivals, this obviously evil "Cyrus" guy, and of course—the region's first Pokémon that make Josh swoon and Tanner barf. We're si'noh glad to have you along for the journey. (We're still workshopping that one.) Notes: Thanks to our composer, Matt Shilts, who will be providing us with some hot new tracks to keep us warm on our ascent to Mt. Coronet!

For our longest episode and most guests ever, hosts of Pokésports Mike & Kevin join Josh & Tanner for the journey—and boy, was it one. The routes were endless, the sweeties and gross 'mons plentiful, so we have double the segments. We weigh in controversial discussions, such as Spoink & Grumpig (cuties, or best as bacon?); the credibility of Team Magma & Aqua's dastardly schemes; and how pretty much everyone hates Pokémon contests. Then, each show team goes head to head against each other and then the shows themselves... who will be the mid-game champions? Notes: Thanks to @PokesportsPod for joining us! Check out their coverage of the competitive Pokémon scene (including an interview with us) wherever you catch your podcasts.
The Circle of Hope pastor's start out with a little talkback, pondering answers to the question this week from our Instagram: "What strategies have you used to pay attention?" Setting timers, standing, coffee, making and keeping routines, doing chores, and many more are considered, as well as a few of their own ideas on what they do to help with focus and concentration. Later, the pastors do a deep dive into the Enneagram, discussing the great wisdom learned from it, their use of it as a helpful tool in spiritual development and personal growth. They regard some of the dangers and pitfalls as well. They end their time with what's been nourishing their souls: a poem from Malcom Guite, a Bible study and reflection tool, a new socially conscious Instagram, the Chicago Bulls...All this and more on Resist and Restore! Joshua & Fjelstan are joined by "Gringus," aka David Sims, a Bug Catcher and co-host of the podcast Blank Check. The trainers do battle at a bar. They take on Team Rocket in Goldenrod's Radio Tower. They catch (and critique) the Legendary Birds. They take on Clair in Blackthorn City and are forced to do some kind of test in the Dragon's Den, before receiving Johto's eighth badge, the Rising Badge. And, of course, Tanner does a misguided Google search and they all end up talking about the "unspeakable" Jynx again. Notes: Thanks to David Sims for joining us on this journey.
