A 25-year-old male suspect is expected to appear before the East London Regional Magistrate's Court following the gruesome murder of 23-year-old Law student at the University of Fort Hare, Nosicelo Mtebeni. Mtebeni's murder has sent shockwaves across the country as her dismembered body was discovered inside a suitcase and plastic bags on the streets of Quigney in East London on Thursday last week. A church service was held at her hometown of Matitiele yesterday (Sunday) ahead of a visit by her family to the crime scene and place of residence. An online petition advocating for no bail for the suspect has meanwhile been gaining momentum as messages of support continue to stream in for her family and friends. Convenor of the movement #NotInMyName, Roger Fama says they will also march to court in support of the call for no bail for the suspect...

MultimediaLIVE — Advocacy group #Notinmyname has slammed convicted child rapist Nicholas Ninow’s decision to launch an appeal. Secretary General, Themba Masango says that they are angered by Ninow's leave to appeal. "We must remember that the child is now subjected to secondary victimization through this appeal process" said Masango. "His constitutional right is being practiced using tax payers money, and that alone is a problem" says Masango as he highlights how Ninow has been afforded rights such as mental evaluation to ensure that he was ready to face trial last year.

MultimediaLIVE — “Nicholas Ninow has no grounds to apply for anything concerning his conviction, sentence or both.” Advocacy group #Notinmyname has slammed convicted child rapist Nicholas Ninow’s decision to launch an appeal in the high court in Pretoria on Friday. This after the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said on Tuesday that Ninow was expected to launch an appeal after being jailed for raping a seven-year-old girl in a Dros restaurant in Silverton, Pretoria, in September 2018. NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said Ninow intended to appeal his conviction and sentence. He pleaded guilty.
