Hey Party People! Great Pods is growing steadily thanks to all of you. If you have feedback, just hit reply and share it. I am all ears. Podcast news: Spotify announced some new podcasting tools as well as new exclusive podcasts to their platform that includes Renegades: Born in the USA w/ Bruce Springsteen and President Obama. That should be an interesting listen. If you get to it before I do, add a review. Website update: I just finished up our first round of user testing on the website to improve the functionality. As a result of that testing, we added sorting to the reviews page so you can sift through the 400+ reviews as we inch closer to a version 1.0. True Crime and Comedy sorting only for now. Thanks for the feedback! On to our picks this week…Podcast: NASA's Curious UniversePublisher: NASAGenre: ScienceThe eagle has landed…on Mars! NASA's billion-dollar baby, Perservence Rover successfully arrived on the red planet, and with microphones attached. What does that mean? We, humans, get to get to hear what it finally sounds like…ON A PODCAST! NASA's Curious Universe podcast is an easy-going, easy-to-understand podcast, that released an episode this week on the “Sounds of Mars”. In this episode, they talk about the microphone setup and what you are hearing on Mars in addition to other cool things about the journey. Fascinating! Listen to his recommendation in the episode above. Links below!Captain's Hot Take: I listened to the St. Vincent episode on Kesha and the Creepies. They both had calming voices and honestly, I did not know who was talking most of the time. But that was fine! There were stories at Taylor Swift's house where they both met which were amusing. It's not a “let's talk music the entire time” type of conversation. Side note: There are no listeners reviews for Cookies for Breakfast or Kesha and the Creepies. If you listen, add a review!Podcast: Stuff The British StolePublisher: ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp.)Genre: History (Some explicit language)Oh, the British Empire. What haven't they done during their time as colonizers? Whilst adding some reviews, this podcast popped up in various international critic reviews(see below). The first episode is on a toy tiger from the era of Tipu Sultan of India. Seeing how I am of Indian descent I put on that particular episode when I was on a road trip with the family. There is a short moment where one of the historians puts Tipu in a less than favorable light. Oh boy, my aunt and uncle did not like that and I got to hear it while we still had 30 minutes left on the way home. I laugh at that situation now. Putting that moment aside, I did enjoy the host's struggle to find the bottom of the story throughout.Fennell(host) is immensely entertaining, his podcasts are always gripping and this is an excellent series that uses history, colonialism and art to examine where we are today. Okay, hear me out: I know that traditionally, podcasts are used to discuss lazy grifts, assemble the covers of non-existent books, and determine the most delicious fast food meals. You can't throw a rock without hitting a podcast that does at least one of those things, if not all three at the same time. But what if, and believe me, THIS IS HYPOTHETICAL, but what if we discussed a movie... ON A PODCAST?????????? Sounds crazy, I know, but we're gonna give it a try.

Welcome to opening weekend at Murphy's Saloon - Podcast Home of the Blues. Drinks are on the house. Every week I'll be serving up the best of independent and podsafe blues, blues rock, rhythm 'n' blues, or whatever else catches my ear. I'm also trying to make arrangements for special permission to play some signed blues artists, so keep your fingers crossed. Show Notes: • Rocket Science by Brain Buckit. I want to apologize to Brain Buckit for not looking further for information about them before recording my show. Be sure to visit their site (linked above), and if you liked what you heard, buy their CD. • There's More Pretty Girls Than One by Blind Arvella Gray. Huge thanks to Cary Baker of Cary Baker's Conqueroo for giving me special permission to play Blind Arvella Gray. Arvella was the real deal, there's no doubt about that, and Cary is a true fan of the blues. • There She Goes by Brother Love. What can I say about Brother Love? That he's got the goods? Hell, yeah! That he rocks? Hell, yeah again! There's a reason Brother Love has two songs in the Top Five at the Podsafe Music Network. Go to the iTunes Music Store or his Web site now, and buy the very aptly titled ALBUM OF THE YEAR. All the best, Brother. • On A Podcast by Cruisebox. If downloads were dollar bills, the guys in Cruisebox would be wealthy men. I first heard On A Podcast shortly after I tuned in to the podosphere. Not a day goes by that I don't find myself humming the Podcasting International Anthem. Talk about an earworm! • Play This by Dave from Chub Creek. Chub Creek is a podcast by Dave and Gary, two Canadian buddies who grew up together, but haven't seen each other in 10 years. The music they've made available at the Podsafe Music Network is drawn from their shows. Thanks, guys! (All songs, except There's More Pretty Girls Than One, courtesy of the Podsafe Music Network). NOTE(edited 3/13/07): If this episode is your first encounter with Murphy's Saloon, please feel free to skip ahead a few shows - the content of this episode is not an accurate reflection of what the show has become. I think I've gotten much better at it, for one thing. Audio levels aren't uniform until about episode #7. The shows are good content-wise, it's just my audio level is reeeeeally low. Music: On A Podcast / Cruisebox SUMMERTIME / Brother Love 曲はまたpodsafe music networkから紹介。 "On A Podcast"といういかにも狙った曲名を前に発見していて、かける予定でしたがアダム・カリーがDaily Source Codeの中で、すでにバシバシかけてしまいました。まあ、アダム・カリーも歌詞に出てくるくらいですからね。 でも、同じ曲がいろんなポッドキャストでかかったほうが面白いと思うのでかけました。 そして、最後の曲もDaily Source Codeでかかっていた曲、"SUMMERTIME"をかけています。
