You’re listening to American Ground Radio with Louis R. Avallone and Stephen Parr. This is the full show for June 16, 2026. We open with Hollywood's next election cycle project — Sean Penn and Warner Brothers are producing a film about January 6th from the perspective of an anti-Trump police officer, described as based on a real person but fictionalized. We discuss what an honest January 6th film would actually require — including the FBI coming clean about how many informants were in that crowd, whether they incited the violence, and why that information has been withheld from both Congress and defendants. We also note that the FBI agent who ran the Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping sting — which a Michigan appeals court just threw out — was the head FBI agent in Washington D.C. on January 6th. Do we trust Sean Penn to tell that story? We already know the answer. In our Top 3 Things You Need to Know, the FBI disrupted a terrorist plot to attack the UFC fight on the White House lawn — suspects planned to use explosive-laden drones to drive survivors into sniper fire, with 23 people named as suspects arrested across Ohio, California, Missouri, and Nebraska. Then President Trump arrived in France for the G7 summit, where topics include the Iran peace deal, Russia-Ukraine, and energy security — with French President Macron already looking for alternative routes to move Middle Eastern oil that don't depend on the Strait of Hormuz. And 15 Antifa members were arrested in Minnesota and charged with conspiracy to injure federal law enforcement officers after attempting to block immigration enforcement operations earlier this year. We also cover James Carville's latest prediction that President Trump will resign by Easter of 2027 — bored, tired, distracted, and facing political collapse. We point out that Carville appears to be describing his own audience, not the man who negotiated an Iran peace deal, hosted a UFC fight on the White House lawn, and is still running laps around every critic who has ever declared him finished. Our American Mama Teri Netterville responds to the competing events on the same weekend as the UFC fight — the anti-Trump Hollywood rally featuring Bette Midler, Robert De Niro, Jane Fonda, and Julia Roberts telling the crowd to breathe in the love and breathe out the fear. Teri asks where this outrage was when men with surgical implants were flashing the White House lawn on Easter during the Biden administration. She researched the cultural events Obama hosted at the White House — and says she's glad he did them. Her only point is that if a white president had done the same things specifically for white audiences, the left would have called it a scandal. The hypocrisy is the story. We also cover Major League Baseball warning San Francisco Giants pitchers for displaying Bible verses on their caps during Pride Night — and connect it to a broader question about whose expression gets protected and whose gets punished — including the founding principle that rights come from the Creator, not from government, and why that matters the moment you try to elect someone who doesn't believe in a Creator at all. In our Digging Deep segment, we document the cascading consequences of the FDA's Biden-era decision to allow abortion pills to be shipped through the mail without an in-person doctor visit. We walk through a documented series of cases — a woman trying to secretly give her ex-boyfriend's girlfriend an abortion pill, a man who pretended to be a woman online to obtain the pills and then told his pregnant girlfriend they were supplements, a doctor who tried to feed the pills to his sleeping mistress, and a DOJ employee accused of baking the pills into cookies for his girlfriend. Her baby died two days later. We make the case that in their zeal to make abortion as easy as possible, the left has created a system that makes it easier to force abortions on women who don't want them — which is a direct contradiction of every argument they've ever made. We also cover a Cornell University student who refused a job interview and then told the employer he wasn't interested in working for a Jew — then doubled down when given a chance to walk it back. A crowdfunding campaign raised over $13,000 to reward him. We note that the Maine Democratic Party just nominated a man with an SS tattoo for Senate, endorsed by Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, and connect the dots on where mainstreaming anti-Semitism leads. For our Bright Spot, a high school junior in Charlotte painted Live Like Kirk and a Bible verse on her school's spirit rock with prior permission — and was then treated like a criminal, forced out of class, and made to surrender her phone logs. The Alliance Defending Freedom took the case. The school board adopted a new speech policy, issued a public statement exonerating the student, and paid $95,000 in damages and fees. The Alliance Defending Freedom wins again. And we close with Jim Freeman, a fourth grade teacher at Tully Elementary in Louisville, who isn't even Ryan Neighbors' teacher — but when he heard that Ryan, who has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair, would have to miss the school field trip to the Falls of the Ohio State Park, he bought a specialized backpack and carried her through the park himself. May your pursuit of happiness bring you joy. Carville argues that Trump's actions are doing lasting damage to the country, while Cuomo challenges whether anger and escalation are actually the best path to winning elections. The two debate whether Democrats should focus on exposing Trump's behavior or offering a more compelling alternative, the political lessons of Bill Clinton, the future of the Democratic Party, the rise of James Talarico and Graham Platner, why voters forgive politicians they believe are fighting for them, the state of the 2026 midterms, and whether Trump's political movement is stronger or weaker than it appears. The infuriating Senate race in Maine must have Hitler, Himmler, and Goebbels cheering in hell. Dean breaks down his latest New York Sun column regarding Senator Susan Collins and her Democratic challenger, Graham Plattner. Dean pulls no punches discussing Plattner's Nazi Totenkopf tattoo, history with Blackwater, bloodlust for killing, and disturbing allegations of domestic abuse. So much for “believe all women.” Media Double Standards: Watch how corporate media handles a leftist candidate in crisis. Dean reacts to audio clips of CNN's Jake Tapper softening questions with James Carville with needless details that assist Carville in avoided Platner's evil, MSNOW's Chris Hayes tossing softball confirmation questions, and Congressman Ro Khanna moving the "red line" from believing women who allege abuse to saying it's cool as long as they don't leave more than “marks” on their bodies. The Scott Pelley "Combat" Myth: Dean calls out CBS anchor Scott Pelley for doubling down on claims of experiencing combat as a journalist, contrasting it sharply with the genuine humility of World War II and D-Day veterans. Pete Hegseth & French Ingratitude: On the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, residents of a French village claim U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth isn't welcome due to "warlike views." Dean delivers a blistering history lesson on Vichy France, historical collaboration, and the sacrifices marked by rows of American tombstones. Hollywood's "Dark Slop" Crisis: Turning to pop culture, Dean uses a clip from Raiders of the Lost Podcast discussing Legally Blonde to analyze why modern movies look visually unappealing, poorly lit, and homogenous compared to classic cinema shot on actual film.

Griff connects the dots between James Carville's unhinged hatred and a dangerous political climate that keeps producing attempts on President Trump's life — and asks the question the mainstream media refuses to touch. Then Griff delivers a stunning assessment of the Jill Biden cover-up, invoking a heartbreaking Washington Post letter from Sally Quinn that asks the question every American should be asking: why didn't she protect him? And on Texas — Griff drops the bombshell that 18 months ago John Cornyn was just votes away from Senate Majority Leader, and this morning his 24-year career is over by 28 points. The Marc Cox Morning Show closes out the week with a bang. Hour Four opens with James Carville's profanity-soaked Trump meltdown, the AP's emotionally manipulative ICE suicide headline, and Randy Weingarten's latest scheme to tax big tech into oblivion — all while Mike Pence quietly admits he hasn't spoken to the president in years. Then Shannon Bream joins the show with Supreme Court decisions dropping in real time — birthright citizenship, trans athletes in women's sports, Alabama redistricting, and mail-in ballot deadlines that could reshape the midterms — plus the inside read on whether Justices Alito and Thomas are going anywhere. Fox News correspondent Griff Jenkins follows with a devastating breakdown of Carville's dangerous rhetoric, Jill Biden's shameful cover-up, and the Texas Senate race that just became the most expensive and unpredictable in modern American history — with Ken Paxton's legal baggage meeting James Tallarico's radical leftist record in what could be a hundred-million-dollar slugfest. They coordinated the protests. They manipulated the headlines. They hid a president's dementia for three and a half years. And the Marc Cox Morning Show spent every minute of this Thursday morning blowing the whole operation wide open. From the opening bell, Marc and Kim exposed the Democrat Party's orchestrated smear campaign against ICE detention centers — with Tom Homan's own numbers dismantling the narrative piece by piece, and the inconvenient reminder that 67 people died in ICE custody under Barack Obama while the media looked the other way. Former Senator Jim Talent joined the show to break down exactly where the Iran standoff is headed — why Trump seized a once-in-a-generation military advantage, and what clearing the Strait of Hormuz would mean for the regime's survival. Shannon Bream delivered live Supreme Court coverage with landmark decisions potentially dropping on birthright citizenship, trans athletes, and redistricting — cases that could reshape America for a generation. Griff Jenkins pulled no punches on Carville's dangerous unhinged rhetoric, Jill Biden's cover-up, and the Texas Senate race that just became the most expensive and unpredictable in modern American history. Tom Ackerman brought Cardinals-Cubs fever to a city ready for summer baseball, and delivered a moving tribute to NASCAR legend Kyle Busch. Kim on a Whim tackled Corporate America's DEI-soaked HR machine and Kevin O'Leary's viral takedown of a generation that can't stop spending. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick.First, they focus on the Justice Department's 11-count fraud indictment against the SPLC. Jim and Greg walk through the formal charges and reveal how the SPLC allegedly spent large sums on “informants” within extremist organizations. They also explain why Democrats and much of the media continue to embrace the SPLC.Next, they're not at all sorry to see President Trump forcing Sec. Chavez-DeRemer to resign. Jim and Greg explain how she was always far too cozy with big labor and a threat to the freelance economy. They also note the serious ethics problems, both personal and professionsl, that were mounting against her. Then, fossilized former Clinton campaign adviser James Carville urges Democrats to aggressively seize power whenever they control the White House and both chambers of Congress again. You'll hear what specific ideas Carville and the Democrats are pushing, along with his advice that candidates avoid talking openly about those plans until after Election Day.Finally, they wave goodbye to Rep. JAMES CARVILLE WENT ON HIS PODCAST AND TOLD DEMOCRATS TO ADD TWO STATES, PACK THE SUPREME COURT WITH THIRTEEN JUSTICES, AND -- DIRECT QUOTE -- "DON'T RUN ON IT. DON'T TALK ABOUT IT. JUST DO IT." HE SAID THAT. ON A PODCAST. THAT EVERYONE HEARD. The man who predicted with absolute certainty that Kamala Harris would win the 2024 election has now laid out the Democrat blueprint for permanent one-party rule -- four new Senate seats, a rigged Supreme Court, and a redrawn political map designed so they never lose again. Today we answer him. Because we have a statehood list too. And ours is built on freedom, not party math. Alberta wants in. Cuba deserves a fresh start. And the State of Jefferson has been waving a double-cross flag at Sacramento since 1941. Meanwhile the Mayor of Philadelphia just told her constituents "how dare you" question her right to tax their Uber rides to cover a three-hundred-million-dollar budget hole -- in a city Democrats have run for seventy straight years. And Billy Corgan says rock music was purposely dialed down to kill young male energy in the culture. Gerard Michaels joins us to make the case.

If it does, there are specific, common sense policy changes that are obviously making a big difference.Next, as pot smokers celebrate 4/20, Jim and Greg examine both recent and longstanding research suggesting regular weed use can damage the brain and lead to other health problems. Jim and Greg discuss how neither party is interested in pushing back against pro-weed policy anymore, even as evidence like this grows. Plus, Jim offers some classic commentary on having to smell weed all the time in America's cities. Then, fossilized former Clinton campaign adviser James Carville urges Democrats to aggressively seize power whenever they control the White House and both chambers of Congress again. You'll hear what specific ideas Carville and the Democrats are pushing, along with his advice that candidates avoid talking openly about those plans until after Election Day.Finally, they have some fun with the news that the New York Mets are 0-11 since their mascots, Mr. and Mrs. Met, hugged New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. On Friday's Mark Levin Show, President Trump believes a deal with Iran is close and has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is open. However, the Iranian regime consists of terrorists who think long-term beyond election cycles. The U.S. maintains strong military and economic pressure on Iran, with forces positioned in the region, and should not ease this grip. Also, forty Democrats voted against allowing the sale of specialized military bulldozers to Israel, while every Republican, including Sen Rand Paul, voted in favor. These bulldozers are used solely to clear minefields and save lives, particularly those of IDF soldiers, and were a significant part of the package Israel sought to purchase. Voting no effectively does the work of Iran, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis by blocking defensive tools that do not kill anyone.  Later, James Carville stated that if Democrats win the presidency and both houses of Congress, they should on day one make D.C. and Puerto Rico states and expand the Supreme Court to 13 justices. Democrats like Carville want to destroy our republic for their benefit. Finally, Buck Sexton calls in to discuss his new book, Manufacturing Delusion: How the Left Uses Brainwashing, Indoctrination, and Propaganda Against You.  He explains that after breaking down individuals through menticide, brainwashing, thought reform, and Pavlovian conditioning, the next phase is "identity construction." This process, achieved largely through propaganda, rebuilds people with a new, manufactured group identity that makes them operate as a single programmable entity serving the designers of the belief system. It strips away rationality, critical thinking, individual identity, and natural resistance to lies, rendering the new identity impervious to facts or evidence. Learn more about your ad choices. James Carville tells Daily Beast Political Reporter Sarah Ewall-Wice that Trump is in much bigger trouble than even the terrible polls are predicting. He says the Democrats are on track for sweeping midterm victories—pointing to double-digit overperformance in special elections, even in Donald Trump's own backyard, and predicting a potential 55-seat Senate majority. Carville also warns that Trump could trigger chaos if he realizes the election is slipping away by undermining election legitimacy or escalating the Iran conflict. He dismantles Republican strategy, questions Trump's grip on his own party, and argues that fear, defiance, and voter mobilization will define the months ahead. Learn more about your ad choices. 2026 Books Along the Teche Literary Festival – Deb and Paul Lindsey

Discover Lafayette

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 20, 2026 53:12

On this episode of Discover Lafayette, we welcome Deb and Paul Lindsay, the enthusiastic co-chairs of the Books Along the Teche Literary Festival, which celebrates its 10th anniversary April 10–12, 2026 in downtown New Iberia. Centered around the Sliman Theater, Shadows-on-the-Teche, and other historic sites, this year's festival brings together literature, music, food, history, and community for a full weekend of programming. Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Rick Bragg is being celebrated as the 2026 Great Southern Writer, with sessions, book signings, museum tours, a book fair, and more planned throughout the weekend. Deb and Paul's story is, in many ways, a love letter to Acadiana. They were living in Guanajuato, Mexico when Deb's health concerns prompted them to consider returning to the United States. As Paul explains, they began researching Acadiana after learning Lafayette had been named “the happiest city in the USA.” Deb knew what she wanted: “I want to go someplace where there's nice people, kind people. I want to go someplace where they have great food, and I want to go someplace where they have great music, great culture.” Their conclusion? “We hit a trifecta.” Deb and Paul LIndsey are pictured in Guanajuato, Mexico in 2019. The couple had no roots in the region and no contacts here when they first began exploring south Louisiana. But a chance stop on Main Street in New Iberia on June 25, 2022, changed everything. While reading the trilingual plaque near the Bayou Teche Museum, they were approached by Cathy Indest of the Iberia Cultural Resources Association, who asked, “Y'all aren't from around here, are you?” That unexpected conversation led to an invitation to come back for the literary festival, and eventually to a much bigger decision. Back in Mexico, the Lindsays decided to do more than simply visit. They would return to volunteer and sponsor the festival as part of what Paul called an exploratory trip. They came for the 2023 festival, met local leaders and volunteers, and quickly found themselves embraced by the community. A memorable and funny festival incident sealed the deal. While attempting Cajun dance lessons, Deb became so dizzy that she had to be helped to a chair and then to an ambulance for evaluation. Paul, not yet realizing how serious things were, responded to a warning from a concerned helper who said, “Your wife is bad,” with the now legendary line: “I'm sorry, but she's always been a bad dancer.” What stayed with them most was not the scare, but the care. Paul recalls that neighbors and new friends, including Wyatt and Becky Collins, immediately stepped in to help, offering to follow him to the hospital and even opening their home if needed. Others checked on Deb throughout the night. “To me, that sealed the deal,” Paul says, “because those are the kind of people I want to be around now.” Deb adds that Acadiana's warmth is more than politeness: “I'm not sure that people in Acadiana fully appreciate just how special the culture of caring for others really is. It is endemic here. It is just part of how people are.” That sense of belonging deepened quickly. The Lindsays moved to New Iberia in October 2023 and were immediately drawn into the life of the community, volunteering at local events and building friendships that made them feel at home. Deb notes, “We have chosen to be here because, as Paul said, we feel like we hit the trifecta.” Their affection for New Iberia and the wider Acadiana region comes through clearly in this conversation, as does their gratitude for the people who welcomed them in. That spirit of welcome is central to the mission of the Books Along the Teche Literary Festival, which Deb describes as preserving “the legacy of Southern storytelling through literature, culture, and community.” The 2026 schedule reflects just how broad that vision has become: guided tours at the Bayou Teche Museum and Shadows-on-the-Teche, free literary sessions at the Sliman Theater, a children's book fair, a Main Street book fair, and multiple ticketed food-and-music experiences designed to bring people together. A major draw this year is Rick Bragg, the festival's 2026 Great Southern Writer. The festival describes Bragg as a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and bestselling author whose writing captures “the struggles and strength of Southern life,” and notes that he continues to teach at the University of Alabama. Paul shares that he reached Bragg personally after recognizing in his writing a deep connection to family, resilience, and Southern roots. That conversation led Bragg to accept the invitation, telling Paul, “You've made me laugh more in the last 40 minutes than I have in probably a year.” Bragg will appear for both a symposium and a special book club-style event during the weekend. Deb speaks beautifully about why Bragg matters. Though memoir was not previously her preferred genre, she says his storytelling changed that. His books about family and ordinary Southern people, she says, “remind us of our shared humanity, something especially needed in these divided times.” That human-centered view of literature runs through the entire festival. Jane and Scott Wolfe of Melba’s Po Boys in New Orleans The opening Friday session features Jane and Scott Wolfe of the infamouse Melba's Po Boys in New Orleans, who will discuss entrepreneurship, perseverance, literacy, and community. Festival listings describe their presentation as “Building Perseverance and Community: How Two Teenagers Created a Life Inside Small Business in New Orleans.” Deb and Paul highlight Jane Wolfe's remarkable path from earning her GED to studying at Tulane and later Harvard Divinity School, as well as her role in literacy work through Melba's. Published sources confirm that Jane Wolfe received the 2024 Light Up for Literacy Award from the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities for her work with Eat and Read at Melba's, and that she is a graduate of both Tulane and Harvard Divinity School. The 2026 schedule also reflects the festival's wide-ranging curiosity. Friday includes a session on the Creole lineage of Pope Leo XIV, a discussion with romance author Juliette Cross, and a closing session on Carville and Hansen's disease. Saturday brings the Dave Robicheaux Readers Theater, a Rick Bragg book club, a session on Louisiana Black Creole Trail Riders, a program on Black female jazz singers, a Swamp Pop-themed session, and Bragg's major symposium and signing. The Children's Book Fair and the Main Street Book Fair, making the festival accessible to readers of all ages. Beyond the literary sessions, the weekend is intentionally immersive. Friday night's ticketed event, “A Novel Evening in Prose and Pours,” unfolds beneath the oaks at Shadows-on-the-Teche and includes food, drink, music, and time for festivalgoers to mingle with authors in a relaxed setting. Saturday morning introduces “Beignets & Beats, A Cajun Breakfast Jam” at Bambino's, while Saturday night has been reimagined as “Swamp Sounds: A Swamp Pop Revival,” complete with dance lessons and live music from The Revelers. The weekend closes with Symphony Sunday in the Park, a free outdoor performance by the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra in New Iberia's City Park on Sunday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m. It is a free concert under the oaks, continuing a long-running partnership between the Symphony and New Iberia. What makes this interview especially meaningful is hearing why Deb and Paul have poured themselves into the festival. Deb says the literary festival “has a special place in my heart, just because it's what brought us to Louisiana in the first place.” She sees their work as “a way of saying ‘we feel like we're a part of the community. We owe the community.” Paul echoes that sentiment and says what he loves most is that books can bring people together across differences: “It doesn't matter who you voted for; it's about coming together with common bonds and trying to learn from each other and listen to each other.” Their vision extends beyond one April weekend. They are exploring interim events throughout the year and building stronger partnerships with other Louisiana book festivals, including those in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, with the goal of strengthening audiences and collaboration rather than competing against one another. That cooperative spirit feels very much in keeping with what they have come to love about this region. As Deb and Paul make clear, the Books Along the Teche Literary Festival is about far more than books alone. It is about story, hospitality, history, music, place, and the kind of human connection that turns visitors into neighbors. Or, as Deb puts it, “It's a terrific place to be.” For festival details, schedules, and tickets, the primary website is BooksAlongTheTecheLiteraryFestival.com; BayouBookFest.com also redirects there. The festival is largely free, with select ticketed food and music events available through the website. Published festival and tourism pages confirm the event dates, venues, and the weekend's featured programming. Thanks to Deb and Paul Lindsey for their commitment to the arts, culture and community! They are eloquent spokespersons for their new home, Acadiana!

In this high-voltage Wednesday edition of What's On Your Mind, Scott Hennen and Kevin Flynn break down a masterclass in leadership from President Trump as he navigates a "hyena-like" press corps while dismantling Iran's military capabilities. The hosts dive deep into the strategic victory in the Middle East, noting that 90% of Iran's missile capacity is gone and their Navy is currently sitting at the bottom of the sea. The conversation shifts to the domestic front, where the team tackles the DHS shutdown and the "suicidal empathy" driving Democratic policies. Minnesota Representative Walter Hudson joins to expose the "special kind of stupid" in the legislature—including a refusal to accept federal school granting funds simply because they came from the "Orange Man." Later, the duo meets a Vietnam vet preparing to lay a wreath at Arlington, explores a high-tech cure for motion sickness at UND, and analyzes a profanity-scrubbed, truly bizarre prayer for "righteous rain" from James Carville. Standout Moments [00:05:40] – The 10% War Listener Lloyd calls in with the receipts, explaining that the U.S. has achieved massive strategic objectives—including shutting down 56% of China-bound oil and wiping out the Russian drone supply chain—using only 10% of its military assets. [00:12:15] – Trump's White House Masterclass The hosts air live clips of President Trump schooling reporters on the tarmac. Trump details the total destruction of the Iranian Navy and Air Force, while Scott marveled at the President's "A-game" compared to his predecessor's "yipper" style. [00:22:10] – June 11th, 1969: The Overrun Vietnam Veteran Ross Johnson shares a harrowing, "soul-filling" account of surviving an artillery battery overrun, describing the intense hand-to-hand combat and the smell of war that led him to his upcoming honor at Arlington National Cemetery. [00:30:15] – Defending John Thune Scott enters the "lion's den" to defend Senate Leader John Thune, arguing that Thune isn't a "traitor" but a "cat herder" dealing with a 60-vote requirement and egos like Rand Paul. He warns that nuking the filibuster is a grenade that Democrats will eventually throw back. [00:32:50] – The "Orange Man Bad" Legislature Minnesota Representative Walter Hudson details how state Democrats are blocking a $1,700 tax credit for school donations simply because it originated from Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," hurting students to score political points. Scott Hennen kicks off a fiery Tuesday edition of What's On Your Mind with a deep dive into the escalating conflict in Iran and the "raw hate" displayed by the Democratic leadership toward the U.S. military and law enforcement. The hosts examine the fallout of the DHS shutdown, where TSA agents are working without pay because, as Scott argues, "Democrats hate ICE more than they care about national security." The conversation takes a hard look at domestic threats following the Gracie Mansion bomb plot, featuring a debate on the "suicidal empathy" of the West and a powerful segment from Greg Gutfeld on "America-phobia." On the lighter side, the duo explores a groundbreaking motion sickness program at UND and meets three incredible veterans vying for a life-changing "Salute to Smiles" makeover. The show concludes with a "museum-worthy" example of Trump Derangement Syndrome: an unhinged, profanity-laced rant from James Carville. Standout Moments [00:05:40] – The Gas Price "Lemmings" Scott debunks the regime media's panic over oil prices, noting that crude has already dropped back to $85. He challenges the "genius opinion writers" who blame the Iran conflict for gas prices that remain nearly $2 cheaper than the Biden-era high. [00:23:45] – Lloyd's Military Fact-Check Lloyd, a listener on the road, calls in with a masterclass in modern warfare, pointing out that the U.S. is currently achieving massive strategic wins—including destroying 56% of China-bound oil and the Russian drone supply chain—using only 10% of its military assets. [00:44:40] – Conquering Motion Sickness at UND Jennifer Watney from the University of North Dakota School of Aerospace Sciences explains her internationally recognized three-day simulator course that helps everyone from student pilots to grandparents overcome debilitating motion sickness. [00:52:10] – Gutfeld: Suicidal Empathy The team reacts to a viral Greg Gutfeld segment discussing the lack of assimilation in the West and why the media seems to cover for terrorists under the guise of "tolerance." [01:08:40] – The Hakeem Jeffries "Polling Site" Slip Scott analyzes Hakeem Jeffries' podcast comments, where the Democratic leader specifically demanded that ICE be barred from monitoring polling sites, raising major red flags about non-citizen voting. [01:21:20] – Salute to Smiles: Three Heroes Meet the finalists for the Dakota Implant makeover: Travis Perdue, a 23-year veteran who survived a "widow maker" heart attack; a Marine father of 13; and Justin Wallace, a Master Sergeant who flies global drone missions. Plus, Google is reportedly pitching its own AI chips to customers, and NYC Mayor-elect Mamdani is positioning his transition team ahead of a January 1 start.  Secretary Scott Bessent - 15:57James Carville - 34:12 In this episode:Scott Bessent, @SecScottBessentJames Carville, @JamesCarvilleBecky Quick, @BeckyQuickAndrew Ross Sorkin, @andrewrsorkinKatie Kramer, @Kramer_Katie Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Darrell Castle talks about the economy in general as well as the United States economy specifically, and why American families are struggling financially. Transcription / Notes IT'S THE ECONOMY Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report. This is Friday the 21st day of November in the year of our Lord 2025. I will be talking about the economy in general as well as the United States economy specifically. You probably remember when Democrat policy advisor James Carville told then candidate Bill Clinton, “it's the economy stupid.” He was correct and the advice is still correct today. Remember that next week is Thanksgiving so there will be no Castle Report. I will join you again on Friday December 5. Carville was a very effective political operative in those days and was apparently able to convince Mr. Clinton that the people who would elect him or his opponent cared more about their standard of living than they did about any foreign policy issue. They should have cared more about donating their children to the foreign policy whims of whoever was in office but when push comes to shove everyone has to eat. A family of four, and those relationships used to exist, is acutely aware of what food and gasoline cost. I'm a layperson in economics in the sense that I'm not trained in economics but I do have a family with the same economic needs as everyone else. Most importantly I have been a bankruptcy attorney for 46 years which has kept me in the forefront of the economic needs of ordinary people. Tens of thousands of people and businesses have told me about their struggles in cities all over the country and I have helped them find a way through their economic troubles. With all that said let's look at some of the economic facts that trouble the country right now. When I say, as I do from time to time, that an economic catastrophe is coming with the only question being when it will arrive, why do I believe that. Not much makes sense these days since America is the hottest economy attracting trillions in capital but inflation is still present and it seems that almost weekly another major corporation announces layoffs or store closings. Last week the fast-food chain, Wendy's, announced that it would be closing 400 restaurants. Amazon announced that it would be replacing about 30,000 employees with robots. The economy depends on federal spending and that is now completely out of control. My fear is that so many irreversible commitments have been made that the federal government is not capable of living within its means and if true that would signal eventual disaster. Fiscal year 2025, which ended on September 30 of this year posted a deficit of $1.8 trillion. Deficit means that the government spent $1.8 trillion more than it received in revenue. It's simple if you think about it from the standpoint of your family. Suppose you make $75 thousand per year but you spend $100 thousand and you do that year after year. You know what is going to happen eventually and that means you will be in my office to consult about bankruptcy. You can keep the plates in the air for a while by borrowing, pay day loans and the like, and by using one credit card to pay another until there is no more credit limit left on any cards. You can last for a while by just making interest payments on the cards but then you can't even do that. This problem gets worse and worse until it becomes unfixable and bankruptcy results. That is exactly what the federal government is doing to manage its spending. One of the major warning signs of impending trouble that economists always warn us about is when interest becomes the biggest item in the budget. It doesn't exceed medical expenses or social security yet but this year, ominously, interest was higher than the massive defense budget. Just as you do with your credit cards the government has to borrow just to pay the interest. In other words, the government is paying debt by incurring more debt which drives the debt and next year's payments even higher. This all means that annual interest, which now exceeds 20% of tax revenue will continue to increase. The debt is purchased primarily by foreign governments, central banks, large corporations, commercial banks and individual investors. Recently, in an ominous trend, those foreigners have been net sellers of U.S. debt. That means that the financing of the debt falls to domestic investors meaning you and me. People individually, through retirement accounts or through purchase of some investment fund, finance government debt with their savings. It is necessary that individual Americans do well because they have to save to invest in U.S. debt. Unfortunately, this year net savings is on track to be less than $1trillion, the lowest figure in many years while the deficit is on track to be roughly $2 trillion. This all means there are not enough foreign buyers and not enough domestic savers to finance the debt so the only option is for the banking system, i.e., the Federal Reserve, to create the money to pay for the excessive spending. I say excessive because if you spend more than you make with no plan to pay it, I call that excessive. When you get yourself into that cycle you have to stop, to reverse course before it is too late. It's almost like alcoholism or some other addiction. You can stop for a while, but then it's too late and you can't stop on your own. Inflation is the result when money is created and pumped into the economy without any corresponding increase in production. Energy, it is estimated, is about 50% of the cost of producing everything. When you make energy decisions on a national level that cut back available energy and add to the costs, everything increases in price across the economy. When politicians of one party or another decide to put on their virtue signaling act by refusing to allow domestic production it costs everyone. Everything families use, food, fuel, autos, and clothes for individuals cost more and the products necessary for business from machinery to microchips increase as well. There is no corresponding increase in wages for people so their standard of living is diminished. If a person usually pays $2.75 per gallon for gas and uses 20 gallons per week that is $55 per week so if it goes to $3.00 he just took a $5.00 reduction in his standard of living. People see this happening and they circle the wagons by cutting back on spending. When people reduce spending huge corporations such as Walmart and Amazon cut back as well which means jobs are lost and the process gets worse and worse. Lay-offs are becoming common and technology such as AI along with robotics makes reducing the workforce easier to do. As I said earlier, Amazon has announced plans to replace 30,000 workers with robots. Those machines never have sick days, they take no vacations, they do not get pregnant, and they don't worry about retirement. Bad policies from the federal government and most policies are bad, make our lives more complicated and more expensive. For example, Obamacare was called The Affordable Care Act but it has made the cost of healthcare much higher and the cost of insurance is skyrocketing. There are several indicators that can be followed to track the status of the economy. The first and most obvious is shipping records. The giant container ships that you see pictures of and view on television represent the health of the population economically. Timber is another indicator and prices are lower this year. That's good for consumers because it means things made from timber are also lower but it also bodes ill for the overall health of the economy. Lower demand for timber means lower demand for new houses. Builders aren't building as much and that means the housing market is slow. Not many are looking to build a new home because they can't afford it. Instead, people who have low-interest rate mortgages are sitting tight which means fewer homes on the market and higher prices. The young suffer because they don't have a lower interest rate loan and houses are rising so they can't afford to move out of their apartment to have a family. Most people who start a family want a place with a yard for their kids to play in, I know I did when my daughter was born. High home prices mean that for the first time in U.S. history, the average age of first-time home buyers is above 40. The president sees all this as well as I do and he is very conscious of the fact that his tariffs have added to the cost of everything whether he admits it or not. A tariff is a charge whether we call it a tax or not, it is a fee we charge foreigners for the privilege of having access to the American market. The result when it ripples through the economy is more money burning a hole in the government's pocket and higher prices for individuals. The president sees that and he hears the crying so he comes up with a plan to send $2000 to each American below a certain income. I'm opposed to it for many reasons but the primary one is that it will fuel more inflation and make everything cost more and be self-defeating. Who wouldn't want an extra $2000 he hasn't earned but in the long run it will not help. My local newspaper, which is owned by the USA Today group and therefore is an almost exact copy of the New York Times, except the sports coverage is not as good, said in an article I received last Wednesday that the cost of it “could be $600 million” while the tariffs have brought in only $300 million. So, the cost could be this or that but I assume everything in the article is slanted and a lie so you can't depend on it for information. Instead, the paper should say, look folks, this country is $38 trillion in debt and on track to spend $2 trillion more than it takes in so to have some chance to avoid a catastrophe use the money to at least reduce the deficit. Finally, folks, is there any way to restore the system and avoid what I have called a looming catastrophe? Sure there is, just see the results Javier Milieu has achieved in Argentina in only two years. Cut spending and stop only tying excessive spending to fraud. Just say we can't afford it anymore. Close overseas bases and stop fighting other people's wars. Come home and mind your own business. Wasteful programs, and that is almost all of them, will have to go. So that is the obvious formula but will we attempt it, no I'm certain we will not. At least that's the way I see it, Until December 5th folks, This is Darrell Castle, Thanks for listening.

Join Jim and Greg for the Monday 3 Martini Lunch as they dive into President Trump urging Republicans to support releasing the Epstein files, disgraced reporter Olivia Nuzzi getting fawning media coverage for her forthcoming book about her relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and James Carville vowing that Democrats will add four seats to the U.S. Supreme Court if they sweep the 2028 elections.First, they welcome President Trump reversing himself and supporting the Epstein files becoming public. They discuss why Trump is likely doing this after opposing the release for so long, and whether we'll really get to see all the information the government has on Epstein.Next, Jim details what he learned from a New York Times puff piece on Olivia Nuzzi and her “emotional affair” with then presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. First, JIm says Nuzzi's story is a textbook example of how not to conduct yourself as a journalist. The story also paints Nuzzi in a sympathetic light, but Jim argues she still comes across as a complete “nutjob.” She also levels new accusations at RFK Jr., which Jim sees as more evidence that Kennedy has no business serving as Secretary of Health and Human Services. Finally, they fire back at James Carville for claiming Democrats have to pack the Supreme Court when and if they have the power to do so in order to have "a Supreme Court people trust again." Radical Vermont Senate candidate Graham Platner says the same thing. Jim says it's astonishing to see the left openly plotting massive upheaval to our system in order to "save democracy" or something. Please visit our great sponsors:Cancel unwanted subscriptions and reach your financial goals faster with Rocket Money at https://RocketMoney.com/MARTINI Stop putting off those doctors' appointments and go to https://ZocDoc.com/3ML to find and instantly book a top-rated doctor today.Give your liver the support it deserves with Dose Daily.  Save 35% on your first month when you subscribe at https://DoseDaily.co/3ML or enter code 3ML at checkout.

The government shutdown is very close to ending and there is no doubt that the democrats are taking the loss. Even the legacy media is blaming the Dems for folding, and this puts Chucky Cheese Schumer on the hotseat. Liberal MSNBC not only airs anti-ICE segments but are actually applauding and giving a spotlight to Americans that are fighting against ICE, even mothers with kids as witnesses. The Arizona Senators are just plain embarrassing, former Senator Flake included, plus, Carville, filibuster, and kissing feet.

And if this is too big of a commitment, I'm always thankful for a simple cup of coffee.]For the past eighteen months, a favorite talking point of legacy political pundits is that Democrats have a young male voter problem. It's been incessant and so ubiquitous that you'd be led to believe—based on the commentary—that Democratic candidates had all but told young men they don't want their votes.Last November, one of the biggest stories coming out of the election was that Democrats are lackluster in their outreach to young men. There had been too much focus on young women (defending bodily autonomy and talking about the need for paid family leave is, apparently, “too much focus” on young women).Legacy pundits (mostly straight, white men) had ideas on how to solve this crisis. They said the left needs a Joe Rogan type. They said Democrats should “moderate” on issues like trans equality. They opined that the Democratic Party had become too feminized.Remember James Carville ranting about “preachy females” and claiming that women's empowerment in messaging is somehow a dealbreaker? As far as I can tell, none of the big Democratic winners from last night got these histrionic memos from the legacy pundit class. Not Virginia Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger. Not New Jersey Gov-elect Mikie Shirrell. Not NYC Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani. None of the baker's dozen of Democrats who increased the party's majority in the Virginia House of Delegates. None of them. There were no special ads cut begging for young men specifically to vote for them or radio spots stumbling through a weak Rogan impression or comprehensive plans published by these campaigns addressing young men. Hell, not only did Zohran Mamdani reject their advice, but he released an ad dedicated to the proud history of trans advocacy in New York City. And not even during Pride Month! He just put it out there late in the campaign like a reckless lunatic. So, how did these candidates do with young men? According to NBC exit polling:Abigail Spanberger won 58 percent of male voters aged 18-29 and just edged out her Republican opponent among male voters aged 30-44. In fact, she damn near won the overall male vote, regardless of age — 49 percent. And she did this while flipping a swing state.Mikie Shirrell won 57 percent of male voters aged 18-29 and 62 percent among male voters aged 30-44. Likewise, she barely lost the overall male vote — 49 percent.Zohran Mamdani won 67 percent of male voters aged 18-29 and 67 percent among male voters aged 30-44. A full two-thirds of all young male voters. He won half of the male vote overall — exactly 50 percent.Ghazala Hashmi—the first Muslim American elected to lieutenant governor of any state—also performed well among young male voters in Virginia: 55 percent among the 18-29 bracket and 49 percent of men aged 30-44. She didn't lose by much among men overall — 46 percent.Even Jay Jones—who many predicted would lose the race for Virginia Attorney General in the wake of his texting scandal—not only defeated his Republican opponent with a comfortable overall margin but did well among male voters: 50 percent of men 18-29, 49 percent of men 30-44, and 45 percent of men overall.Did I mention that Virginia Democrats achieved their largest majority in the House of Delegates in modern history? They're on track to win 64 seats, an increase of 13, in opposition to relentless anti-trans messaging from Virginia Republicans all year. Democrats clearly won young men last night. There is no debate over this. The numbers are loud and unyielding. They didn't do it by pandering to young men. They didn't do it by begging in broken fratboy speak. They didn't do it by treating young men like special little boys who need their hands held. They didn't do it by abandoning women and trans people. They did it by talking to young men about affordability. They talked to young men like young voters who are worried about the cost-of-living, not like men who need some dipshit masculinized pitch. That doesn't mean they didn't have fun or decline to chat with young men. Zohran Mamdani went on podcasts and chatted it up with conservative young men about the need to focus on working class families. Mikie Shirrell and Abigail Spanberger talked to young male influencers and content creators about addressing their generation's lack of enthusiasm about owning a home someday or just paying for basic needs. They didn't condescend to young men; they made them part of the solution. They told them they're essential and deserve better because they're adults living in a society where no one should get left behind — not because they're men.All of these candidates who won last night didn't shy away from talking about gender equality and LGBTQ rights. They didn't buy the ridiculous theory that doing so would alienate young men.And they were right. My god, were they right. Undisputed King of Stuff and Sink the Rising Sun author Jon Gabriel fills in for Jim on Thursday's 3 Martini Lunch. Join Jon and Greg as they break down President Trump's call for a new census, the Associated Press portraying terrorists as sympathetic victims, and James Carville's idea of “saving democracy” through undemocratic means.First, they size up President Trump's call for a new census to be taken that does not include people in the U.S. illegally. Given the huge undertaking of the census, Jon and Greg suggest making sure the 2030 census makes that distinction. They also note that Trump tried to include a citizenship question in the 2020 census but was blocked by the courts.Next, they hammer the Associated Press for publishing a sympathetic piece on Hezbollah terrorists injured in last year's Israeli pager bombings. The AP even explicitly laments that one Hezbollah terrorist "realizes it's impossible now to find a role alongside Hezbollah fighters" after being blinded by his exploding pager. How did we get to the point where the AP wants us to be sad that this guy can't try to kill Jews anymore? Finally, longtime left-wing political strategist James Carville says that democracy is in danger. So if Democrats win control of the White House, the House, and the Senate in 2028, he wants them to unilaterally add states and pack the Supreme Court. You know, to save democracy. Jon has a far less dramatic suggestion for Democrats. Please visit our great sponsors:Talk it out, with Betterhelp.
