I was 942 seconds into The Science of Scaling when I hit pause. Not because I was bored. I'm challenging you to audit your goals, your positioning, and how you're showing up on the mic. Here's what I'm sharing:Why the real bottleneck to scaling might be the attainability of your goalsHow audiobook release strategies may impact you (and what you should (and shouldn't take from it)Why simply uploading audio with your podcast cover art to YouTube is wasting the algorithm's time and yoursThe 3 non-negotiable questions I now ask before creating any episodeWhat “innovate, don't imitate” really looks like when you're using AI as a refiner, not a crutchThis is a conversation about strategic audacity. Hi my PR Friends,If you caught our last episode, you know I'm here to help you rethink what might seem like business expenses: advertising, marketing, coaching, PR, social media, and more.Following our respective investments in our businesses (yes, I invest heavily in NATA PR and continue to do so), I wanted to discuss with you the value of an article. We're talking about a journalist choosing to feature you.Naturally, this expert isn't paid by you but is employed by a newspaper, magazine, or other media outlet. This isn't a paid advertorial you've bought—it's earned media. Here, you haven't paid this journalist. In some markets, the value of an article is still measured against what you'd pay for an advertisement.Let's say this organic article takes up a full page in a magazine. If you were to pay $10,000 for that page, PR standards would advise us to multiply that value by three: $30,000—because the impact of an organic article is far greater than that of an ad.In certain markets, the value is multiplied by six or even ten, depending on the media.Having an intermediary, such as a journalist, speak about you without payment is invaluable—it builds trust and boosts your reputation. The effects of an article are plentiful. Here are a few advantages:1. Instant credibility: A feature in a credible media outlet acts as a stamp of validation, granting authority that no ad can match.2. Free, powerful visibility: Unlike ads, you're not paying for space—but the impact can be tenfold if the article is well-targeted.3. Long-lasting effect (Evergreen): Articles often remain online for months or even years, continuously building your reputation.4. Digital word-of-mouth power: Published articles are often shared on social media or featured in newsletters—creating organic viral effects.5. SEO boost: Mentions in high-authority media improve your Google search rankings.6. Reusable content: Published articles can be repurposed across various communication tools, including your website, email signature, social media, and presentations.7. Trust generator for clients and investors: Prospects are more inclined to buy from or collaborate with a company that's received media coverage.8. Access to new audiences: Media outlets often reach different audiences than your own channels, exposing you to qualified new prospects.9. Media snowball effect: One publication can attract others, creating a domino effect. Journalists often rely on previously published material to uncover new topics.10. Qualitative fame measurement: Though hard to quantify, the impact of an article can often be measured by increased website visits, subscriptions, or contact inquiries. So, if you ever decide to invest in our "Get Featured for Free" training, remember that just one successfully generated article will yield more than the money invested—plus, the knowledge gained stays with you forever.Got questions? Being good at what you do isn't enough if no one knows who you are. In this episode, I sit down with Rob Lang, who's been behind the scenes of the media for 35+ years, helping people turn their skills into visibility and credibility. We unpack what makes a media pitch land, the #1 mistake most coaches make, and how to tailor your message for real-world results—not just a framed newspaper article from 1992. Rob also shares how even introverts can craft a clear message that magnetizes the right opportunities. You don't need a PR team—you need a strategy. And this episode delivers it. Guesting on podcasts isn't optional anymore...Not if you're serious about growing your business. Today I'm walking you through four things you need to be thinking about before you pitch another podcast. These aren't hacks or templates. They're foundational for getting booked on aligned, complementary shows, the kind of interviews that actually grow your authority, not just your download count.I'm not walking through all seven guesting building blocks from the guide, but I am sharing four concepts to sharpen your strategy and save you time in your outreach. If you're pitching, guesting, or thinking about adding podcast interviews into your marketing plan—this is where you start.
Do you read books just to hit a number each year? Or do you soak in a select few so you can implement, implement, implement? When I hit record this week with my neatly outlined episode, I sensed something was... off. The timing didn't feel right, but I couldn't put my finger on why.And then it hit me.I knew I had to pause the power-packed guesting episode I had planned (don't worry - it's coming next week). Because sometimes your perfectly mapped-out plan gets hijacked. And by hijacked, I mean gently, yet unmistakably, redirected by God.If your podcast (and business) feel strung out on tactics and starving for purpose, lean in. I'm sharing the detour He walked me through -- a detour that pulled me back to the foundation of why I even grabbed the mic in the first place.I'm confronting a few excuses I didn't realize I was still hiding behind… and offering you a challenge that could flip the whole second half of your 2025.(P.S. Stay to the end; I tease next week's play-by-play on turning guest spots into revenue streams...because purpose and profit can absolutely share a mic.)Almolonga Guatemala Revival Recommended Read: Anointed for Business - Ed Silvoso

You've probably heard it before: “Just batch 12 episodes and launch messy.”But what if that's exactly why your show isn't converting? Is your podcast a strategic business asset… or just a never-ending to-do?Inside, we unpack:The shortcut mindset that's stalling your impactWhat the "long cut" really looks like (and why it works)Three practical shifts to simplify, build trust, and actually growHow consistent connection trumps sporadic promotion every timeIf you're tired of podcasting that feels more like hustle than legacy-building, this one's for you.Plus: I'll share what it means to go live, get flexible, and speak to the people already waving their green flag.Join the Virtual Podcast School Community!
