In week two of Life at the Speed of Prayer, Pastor Ken Olson called us deeper into a dependent, daily walk with God, reminding us that our lives will never rise above the level of our prayer life. This past weekend, Pastor Mac gave the third installment of his teaching series entitled, “The Gatekeeper of Power.” Ephesians 1:19 says there is an exceeding greatness of power to usward who believe, yet many are frustrated they do not experience the power of God in their lives. They have yet to learn that their own minds are what controls the power of God flowing through their lives. However, the mind can be either a gateway for the power of God or a gateway for the deception of the enemy. To be a gatekeeper for the power of God to flow in your life, you must renew your mind to the Word of God. Pastor Mac used the Tower of Babel in Genesis chapter 11 to illustrate the power of the imagination. The people were determined to build a tower into the heavens and God said about them, “…nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do” (v. 6). God created the human brain with the ability to mentally image a future probability. That's the power of imagination. However, imagination can be used to bring evil into your life just as it can bring God's purpose and blessing into your life as well. In “The Gatekeeper of Power,” Pastor Mac Hammond reminded us that salvation is not just about heaven someday, but about experiencing God's life now. While the power of God, “the same power that raised Jesus from the dead,” is available to every believer, he emphasized that “there is a difference between having the power and applying the power.” Many live saved but never access what's already theirs because the fight of faith begins when you're believing something but not seeing the results. Nearly five years after COVID-19 lockdowns, the research reveals surprising truths about how Americans engage with church online and what that means for pastors and ministry leaders. While 91% of churches now livestream services, only about 14% of Americans watch weekly. Most online viewers are also in-person attenders, meaning livestreams tend to serve already-committed believers rather than reaching the unchurched. This past weekend, Pastor Jim taught a message about the first Christmas, when grace came through the birth of Jesus Christ: “For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ” (John 1:17). Pastor Jim said, “This message about the first Christmas and the people involved is based on the loving kindness and tender mercies of God.” He talked about how there were certain people who had been praying and waiting for the prophesied Savior, and God's mercy allowed these people to be a witness in His birth—and their participation was forever documented! This past weekend, Pastor Jim picked up where he last left off in his “Grace Unveiled” series. His message was based on Romans 8:31–32: “What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?] He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?” (Amp.) The focus was on the fact that God did not withhold or spare His own Son, Jesus, but gave Him up for us. And then this is the key: “…will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?” The point of the message is that the promises of God are free! Some believers say, “I'm a tither, I pray in tongues every day, I go to every service, I do this, I do that…” They're trying to earn the promises of God. They can't be earned. The Father wants you to understand that the promises in the Bible are simply free, but you have to believe they are yours. And you must use your faith to get them!
