Many married couples believe they serve their spouse, but sometimes serving becomes scorekeeping: "I did this for you, so what will you do for me?" Jesus gives us a different example in Mark 10:45. He came not to be served, but to serve. Servanthood in marriage means developing a willing heart that asks, even when it costs you something, "How can I serve you today?" Jesus gives us a powerful example of how to approach marketing with intentionality and persistence. He went throughout Galilee preaching, teaching, and healing, consistently taking His message to the people He was called to serve. As entrepreneurs, we should have that same commitment to reaching the people we are called to serve. Jesus taught us three keys to receiving answers to our prayers. First, we need to **ask**, which means we need to be specific about what we are requesting from God. Second, we need to **seek**, which means we need to actively look for the answers. God is not going to simply drop the answer from heaven. The answers are here on earth, so we have to look for them with the help of the Holy Spirit. Third, we have to **knock**. Jesus said that when we knock, the door will be opened. Godly parenting requires loving, intentional discipline that reflects God's own pattern of praise, correction, instruction, consequences, and continued care. Parents are called to establish clear boundaries, allow children to make choices and experience appropriate consequences, and guide them through those consequences without harshness or discouragement. This training should begin early and be rooted in a wholehearted commitment to God, with Scripture continually used to teach truth, expose wrong, correct behavior, and instruct children in righteous living. Prayer is making a request of God for something you want. However, many believers are fearful of asking God for what they really, really want. A lot of the time, they speak in generalities. They'll say something like, "God, bless me," but what they really want is for God to bless them with a certain kind of job or career. Jesus teaches that we have to be precise about what we want from God and not be ashamed to ask Him for what we truly desire. When we ask God for what we want and believe, we shall receive it. Jesus told us that when you're praying, if you have anything against someone, you need to forgive them first. He said, "If you don't forgive others, God won't forgive you." Prayer is asking God to do something on your behalf. When you're in business, you need God to move in your business. You need God to bring clients, customers, strategy, and revenue. But when you're asking God for these things while holding unforgiveness in your heart toward your husband or wife, the Bible says your prayers are blocked. So, if you're struggling in your business, check your forgiveness walk with your spouse. Unforgiveness toward your spouse is sinful, and it's not something you should tolerate. We hear a lot of people telling us that we need to pray every day, but why do we actually need to pray every day? A person's demeanor is their outward behavior, attitude, or manner. A godly marriage requires both husbands and wives to have a calm demeanor. Like most things in Christianity, Christians disagree about salvation, particularly when it comes to how you maintain it. Leadership is not about having all the right answers or knowing exactly what to do in every situation. Godly leadership begins with seeking God, following His direction, and then leading others as you follow Him. Abraham did not receive every detail about where God was taking him before he started moving; he had to trust God and follow one step at a time. In the same way, leaders will often face situations where they do not know exactly what comes next, but they can still lead by staying close to God and obeying what He reveals. Marriage is not simply about finding someone you love; it requires the maturity to handle the commitment that marriage demands. God expects us to move forward based on what we already know, while remaining sensitive to the Holy Spirit's direction along the way. Paul and his team were actively pursuing their mission and making plans based on their understanding of what God had called them to do, but they were willing to change direction when the Holy Spirit redirected them toward Macedonia. In the same way, we should make wise decisions, and do what we know to do, while staying flexible enough for the Holy Spirit to interrupt our plans and adjust our direction. Many times, God does not give us detailed instructions for every decision or tell us exactly what to do next. Instead, He gives us abilities, resources, opportunities, wisdom, and responsibility, and expects us to use them to figure out how to move forward. God wants us to think, create, make decisions, take initiative, and produce results with what He has entrusted to us. Rather than continually waiting for God to tell us exactly what to do, there are times when God is waiting for us to act. The world constantly shapes how we think about success, identity, career, and what we should pursue, which can make it difficult to recognize what God has created us to do. In Office Hours this week Pastor Amos discussed his experience using AI tool Claude to design websites for his premarital counseling service and new CFE landing page. The conversation shifted to a deeply personal discussion when LaToya shared her concerns about her 12-year-old daughter's emerging identity issues, including questions about bisexuality and exposure to inappropriate content through anime and social media. Several participants, including Stephanie and Abrianna, offered encouragement and parenting advice, emphasizing the importance of early education about difficult topics and limiting media exposure. The group also provided feedback on the newly designed CFE website and premarital counseling landing page, with suggestions to make the language more compelling and less generic. For many believers, when we see an open door of opportunity, we quickly say that God has opened that door for us. For example, you may be offered a job making $500K per year and it appears to be an answer to your prayers. In Malachi 3:13-18, the Israelites complained that God was blessing wicked people and righteous people were struggling. Because of this, they concluded that serving God didn't matter. We are exploring Malachi 2:13-16 and Proverbs 5:15-19. In these scriptures, God admonishes older married men to enjoy the wife of their youth and not to divorce them for younger women. The insight we are processing is that our wives will physically change as they age, and regardless of their age, we should still see them just as beautiful as the day we married them. Office hours started with a discussion about adjusting the schedule for office hours due to Pastor Amos's conflict with Morehouse College, with the group leaning toward moving to Tuesday at 7 p.m. Pastor Amos shared his thoughts on possibly restarting a weekly Bible study and developing a pre-engagement or pre-marriage course, with input from Anya, Stephanie, and others on naming and marketing the program. Genesis 1–3 reveals God as the purposeful Creator who formed the world in an orderly way, declared His creation very good, and created mankind in His image to live in relationship with Him and steward His creation. Mankind was given meaningful work, marriage, companionship, and responsibility as part of God's original design, with obedience to God at the center of life and flourishing. However, Satan introduced deception and doubt about God's Word, leading the woman to be deceived and Adam to knowingly disobey God. Through sin came spiritual death, separation from God, shame, fear, broken relationships, difficulty in work and childbirth, corruption in creation, and ultimately physical death. Yet God's response to the fall revealed both justice and mercy: He cared for Adam and Eve in their fallen condition, prevented them from living forever in that condition, and promised that the offspring of the woman would ultimately defeat Satan. Stephanie asked about friends who were considering having a wedding ceremony without going through the government, which led to an extensive conversation about the importance of legal marriage documentation and avoiding living in falsehood.
