    Ivy Insights

The Church for Entrepreneurs podcast has been a game-changer for me in my entrepreneurial journey. Pastor Amos Johnson's ability to simplify the Word of God and apply it to entrepreneurship is truly remarkable. He breaks down complex concepts into easily digestible nuggets of wisdom that are relatable and applicable. Whether you're looking for practical advice or seeking to align your faith with your business, this podcast delivers on all fronts. The teachings have helped me grow as a Christian and business owner, challenging my own prejudices and helping me see the Word and the Trinity in a new light.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is Pastor Amos' ability to make scripture relevant and applicable to everyday life as an entrepreneur. His messages are always timely and inspirational, providing encouragement and guidance when I'm feeling discouraged or uncertain in my entrepreneurial journey. The podcasts are short, making them easy to listen to while multitasking, whether I'm testing recipes in the kitchen or developing my business plan. The teachings have not only supported me in my entrepreneurial endeavors but have also helped me stay certain of my "Why" by providing The Word that grounds me.

If there was one potential downside to this podcast, it would be that some episodes may be too heavily focused on the intersection of faith and entrepreneurship for listeners who may not identify as Christians or have a strong religious background. However, even for those individuals, the principles shared can still provide valuable insights into running a purpose-driven business.

In conclusion, The Church for Entrepreneurs podcast is an incredible resource for entrepreneurs looking to align their faith with their business endeavors. Pastor Amos Johnson's teachings provide clarity, revelation, and practical advice from the Word like no one else I've encountered. It has been a blessing in my walk with God and my business, helping me build my faith as both an entrepreneur and a Christian. I cannot recommend this podcast enough if you're seeking spiritual guidance and biblical wisdom in your entrepreneurial journey.

Sunday Service: Laodicea, a wealthy and self-sufficient city known for its banking, textiles, and medical advancements, had allowed its prosperity to blind it to its need for God. Jesus, identifying Himself as the Amen—the fulfillment of God's promises and the beginning of God's new family—reminded them that everything centers on Him, not their riches. Using the city's lukewarm water supply as an illustration, He exposed how their faith had become useless—neither refreshing like cold water nor healing like hot, but corrupted by pride and self-reliance. Unlike other churches, Laodicea received no praise, only rebuke, for their love of money had displaced their love for God, echoing the warnings given to Israel and the lesson of the rich young ruler. Jesus called them to trade worldly wealth for spiritual riches, to put on the white garment of salvation, and to see clearly through His truth rather than through the blindness of prosperity. Though they had shut Him out, His discipline proved His love, and He stood ready to reenter if they repented and invited Him back in. This warning extended beyond Laodicea, reminding all believers that salvation requires ongoing faithfulness, dependence on Christ alone, and a refusal to let wealth or self-sufficiency replace devotion to Him. Daily Study: Many people online are predicting the rapture will happen on September 23rd or 24th, often linking it to the Jewish holiday Rosh Hashanah, also called the Feast of Trumpets, but the Bible makes it clear that no one knows the day or the hour of Christ's return—not even the angels or Jesus Himself. Scripture teaches that His coming will be sudden, like a thief in the night, catching unbelievers off guard but not surprising believers, since we know He promised to return. God does not reveal the exact time because He wants His people to live ready every day, faithfully and expectantly, rather than waiting until the last moment. For Christians, the rapture is not something to fear but something to look forward to with joy, as it fulfills God's promise to His people. It is not about fixing one's life first, but about transformation that flows from being saved. Baptism does not save but symbolizes being united with Christ in His death and resurrection. People come to faith as they hear the gospel, often through a process requiring patience and repeated teaching from Scripture. Unlike other churches, Philadelphia receives no rebuke, but instead encouragement: though persecuted, they remained steadfast in the Word, and Jesus promises to protect them in the coming worldwide tribulation. This passage teaches that true strength lies not in numbers or wealth but in perseverance, obedience, and love. Sunday Service: Revelation 3:1–6 highlights Jesus' sharp rebuke of the church in Sardis, exposing their false reputation as a vibrant, godly community while in reality they were spiritually dead. Though outwardly active in good works, social causes, and community service, their efforts were not rooted in a heart transformed by Christ. Jesus makes it clear that good deeds without genuine faith are worthless, reminding them that many “good people” will miss salvation. Unlike churches with obvious sins, Sardis' hypocrisy was hidden beneath religious activity, making it harder to discern. Jesus calls them to repent and truly believe in Him, warning that without salvation they will be left behind at His sudden return, like in the days of Noah and Lot. Yet, even in this lifeless church, a few true believers remain faithful, showing that God can still use flawed ministries to bring people to salvation. Jesus closes with hope and encouragement: those who stay with Him will be clothed in white, their sins washed away, their names secure in the Book of Life, and they will overcome by holding fast to Him. He commends believers for love, faith, service, endurance, and growth—especially in patience, which enables them to receive God's promises. Yet, in Thyatira, a woman likened to Jezebel was misleading believers into sexual sin and idol-related practices, undermining God's standards and leading many astray. Jesus gives space for repentance but warns that persistent sin brings judgment, both on the deceivers and their followers, regardless of whether they were misled. To the faithful who resisted false teaching, Jesus urges them to hold fast to the truth they have received, rejecting so-called “deeper truths” that originate from Satan. Revelation 2:12–17

Sunday Service: Revelation 2:12–17 is a message from Jesus to the church in Pergamum, a city known as the place "where Satan has his throne." Jesus introduces Himself as the one with the sharp two-edged sword, symbolizing His authority, judgment, and the piercing power of God's Word to discern the thoughts and intentions of the heart. He commends the church for holding fast to their faith even in the face of martyrdom, but rebukes them for tolerating false teachers like the Nicolaitans who were leading God's people into sexual immorality and idolatry. The issue of eating food offered to idols wasn't about the food itself, but the spiritual compromise and confusion it created among believers. Jesus calls the church to repent—meaning to change their way of thinking to align with God's truth—or else He will personally confront and remove the corrupting influence. He is not fighting the faithful but the deceivers among them. To those who overcome, Jesus promises hidden manna (salvation in Jesus), a white stone (symbolizing acquittal, victory, and acceptance), and a new name—representing a personal, intimate identity in Christ known only to the one who receives it. Did Jesus miss it?

Daily Study: I have a question: "Did Jesus miss it?" Just hearing that question sounds crazy, but there is a story in the New Testament in which it appears to have taken Jesus two tries to heal a blind man. If this is true, it opens up all kids of theological questions about the power of God. How could Jesus, who was not only the son of God but also God, require more than one time to do something right? If this is the case, this could weaken our faith in the power of God, and put in doubt some of the things we're believing for. Therefore, let's examine this question in today's study. Romans Series: In Romans 16:17–27, Paul closes his letter with a strong warning and a final doxology. He urges believers to watch out for those who cause divisions and teach contrary to sound doctrine, warning that such people deceive others with smooth words and serve their own desires rather than Christ. He commends the Roman believers for their obedience but encourages them to be wise about what is good and innocent about what is evil. Paul assures them that God will soon crush Satan under their feet. He then sends greetings from his co-laborers and concludes with a doxology, giving glory to God who is able to establish them through the gospel and the revelation of Jesus Christ, a mystery once hidden but now revealed to bring all nations to obedience of faith.
