Our Gavin Henderson and Martin Wanless sat down last night to react to an emphatic Sunderland win over an extremely shite Wigan side - as well as to touch on our win over Blackburn on Boxing Day - and to try work out if we can somehow convince Man Utd that young Amad isn't all that great anyway…What's the crack? Why are the lads ignoring the fact their producer has a banging headache? Let's all laugh at Wigan and our wonderful old friend James McClean; Is Amad better than Peter Beagrie? That's a reference for your parents if you're under a certain age..How did the lads rate our performance overall? How good is this side? Some brilliant displays from lads like Michut, Ba and Trai Hume to give Mogga something to consider; How do we get Paddy Roberts and Amad on the pitch together more often? Was that Dan Neil's best game for us this season? Your three word reviews, an update on the SCSK fundraiser which ends tomorrow night as the clock strikes 12 (but don't let that stop you donating) and Gav does that thing where he predicts a promotion run; All this and much more! We'd like to wish every single one of you a very Happy New Year - enjoy it wherever you are - and we'll be back after our trip to Blackpool!Ha'way the Lads! #SAFC #EFLChampionship #EFL Hosted on Acast. The English game suited Uwe Rösler, and in part two we hear about how he loved the spacious Maine Road pitch and how the home fans made him feel invincible.Paul Walsh was a great guy to be around and he was also the perfect partner up front. There was also Steve McMahon, Peter Beagrie, Niall Quinn, Nicky Summerbee, Nigel Clough, and, of course, Georgi Kinkladze – the maestro. If you made the run, he would find you with a pass. You'll hear about what it's like to score a brilliant goal in a Manchester derby at Old Trafford. There was also the agony of relegation, when City played out a draw against Liverpool, not realising that a point wouldn't be enough to save them.We chat about Pep Guardiola's Bayern and City revolutions, and we hear about Uwe's current managerial role at Fortuna Düsseldorf, where promotion to the Bundesliga is the target. Thanks, UweGrahamSubscribe to The Big Interview YouTube channel See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
In this episode of the Man City podcast, Rob is in conversation with Brian Horton, City manager between 1993-95. With Peter Reid sacked after just four games of the 1993-94 season, chairman Peter Swales approached Oxford and asked for permission to speak to Brian. He was installed as manager days later, becoming the last managerial appointment of the Swales era. But it was a turbulent period in the Club’s history, with City in a state of civil war as the Swales Out campaign gathered momentum. City’s chairman of 20 years was ousted in February 1994, just six months after Horton came in, replaced by former player Francis Lee. Horton kept City in his first season, with the arrivals of Paul Walsh, Uwe Rosler and Peter Beagrie vital, and the following campaign started superbly, with City managing big wins over Everton, West Ham and, most famously, a brilliant Spurs side, playing a vibrant, attacking brand of football. But that early promise subsided, giving way for a poor second half of the season, and Horton was sacked by Lee as the campaign came to an end. Here, Rob and Brian discuss his time at City, his pursuit of Luis Figo and the bitter nature of his sacking in the summer of 1995. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
It was the time when City went with wide players in Nicky Summerbee and Peter Beagrie - supplying Paul Walsh, Uwe Rosler and Niall Quinn. It was entertaining, but it was very inconsistent. David Mooney is joined by Jonathan Smith from Goal.com to remember City under Brian Horton.
