Both Carlo Ancelotti and Pep Guardiola will be remembered as two of the all-time Champions League icons. And yet both have a love-hate relationship with the 'Cup with the Big Ears' - climaxing with last year's meeting between the two teams who drew in the first leg of their semi-final rematch last night. Here, for ESPNFC, is my story on the ingredients that make this tie a distillation of the very best of this wonderful competition. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Pep Guardiola was able to guide his much rotated Manchester City side to a rather nervy 2-1 victory over Leeds United and Big Sam. But, should Leeds fans have hope after the performance their team put in at City? Tottenham Hotspur managed to provide their fans a "boring" match for the first time in weeks, keeping a clean sheet in the process. Ryan Mason's obvious aim was to shore up defensively, and with the tactical abilities he's shown over the past few games, could he be the answer to Tottenham's managerial serach? Liverpool win six in a row for the first time this season as they continue their charge for the Top 4. Uninspiring performance against Brentford, but yet again, Salah scores the winning goal. In this fixture last year, Newcastle beat Arsenal by 2 goals to end their hopes of a return to the Champions League. This season, with both teams already seemingly confirming their places in the Champions League for next season, Arsenal took revenge on Newcastle to keep the title hopes alive. On the other hand, Manchester United suffered another away defeat, this time at West Ham. Are they in real danger of losing the Top 4 spot?
