No we did not in fact go all out as suggested and lost to a pretty determined Hull City after Patto had.. a moment.. resulting in our first loss in the league at home this season, and likely the end to any hope of automatics without assistance from the rest of the division. What's the crack? Aye that was shite. The mistake was shite and the response was also. That being said, does this present an opportunity to build momentum for a playoff run? Wembley or bust; we're doing it the hard way again, lads and lasses. Think of the scenes though. Patto and that fumble; he's not exactly helped himself there but why isn't he taking command of the situation or his area? Does he need real competition? If it ain't broke; The way we've set up all season has got us this far, so is it fair to say we need to simply find our rhythm again, get back to basics even? If it's all about the sides above falling to pieces to let us pass, it's probably best we ignore all that now and focus on ourselves isn't it. We'll be playing Hull in about 24 hours so jump in with our Gav and Martin to hear them repeatedly tell Regis Le Bris to just go for it. Over and over again aye. What's the crack? Sheffield or Burnley could slip up so we need to keep up, that's the message in a nutshell here lads and lasses. Martin thinks we should maybe just.. go for it aye. What do we have to lose at this point in the season? Must win? Must not draw? Just win please. Cheers. Gav regrets nothing he said about Joffy or Burstow but we expect at least one to do something here because Sunlun/footy. ATTACK; Hull have had some decent results on the road but f*** that it's Hull we need to beat them. Should we use every attacking option here? What's the crack? Just give the ball to Enzo a bit more. Luton are in an absolute state currently, so how do we use any of this to our advantage without falling victim to.. an act of Sunlun? How many changes do the lads think Reg should make from the side that started on Saturday, and is he likely to make many anyway? Are we making the most of our attacking options at this stage? Is this a game for Samed or not? Should Mayenda be starting instead of Roberts? Should Rigg be rested? Gav Henderson and Chris Wynn return to react to either another failure to get all three points at home or a successful defence of our home record, depending if your glass is half empty or full. What's the crack? So is that a negative or a positive? Feels a bit like a negative aye. Four points from six ain't bad; but it's not helping any hopes of catching up with the few above. Then again, it isn't really helping anyone below either. A frustrating day for Wilson and his attacking partners; O'Nien and Cirkin sort of made up for it... PGMOL officials took a break from a month-long coke binge in a brothel on some island in the med to demonstrate yet more sensible, reliable and highly accurate decision making. So how are we feeling ahead of Luton on Wednesday and some key results coming up? Confident? Bricking it aye? Good. If you don't fancy listening to our Chris Wynn detailing his frustrations with our last fixture while our Gavin Henderson tries to look back without anger, you can skip straight to the next one. Just saying aye. What's the crack? The lads weren't exactly apoplectic after the result at the Stadium of Light against a Plymouth fresh from a mauling, but they weren't exactly delighted either... The team selection was a little confusing; what did the lads make of Le Bris setting us up how he did? Was Samed the right choice for that match? Chris suggests that Dan Neil should do what Dan Neil does best. WILSON GOT A GOAL; Bless the lad he bloody well deserved one. Defensive daftness; was Patto at fault for either of Plymouth's goals or was it a collective failure? This leads the lads back into a familiar discussion about the future of our young number one. We're still in a good place despite two points dropped but does that mean Boro is another must win? Apologies for the lateness. It was unfortunately a matter of life and death. So here we are again, waiting for a game one of us cares about more than the other and trying to explain what it is about Sunderland facing Boro that makes it less a derby and more an annoyance. Like Coventry with Parmos? What's the crack? *It's not a derby debate klaxon* Seriously it isn't. If Hartlepool got their arses in gear and left the monkeys alone we'd probably not have this debate at all. Right so it is a big game for other non-derby reasons but only because they're just about up there with us; how have Michael Carrick's men been getting along since we last faced one another? Boro players always take this more seriously than our own, so do we think Reg will have found a way to get our lads to kick that weird habit passed down from generation to generation? Bit of a weird game overall; live on ITV a few hours before Transfer Deadline Day ends... Are we looking forward to that sort of possible mayhem? Are the lads confident given our long history of not getting the result we want down their way and yet again: is this a must win? Are they all must wins? This was recorded just before the announcement of Wilson Isidor signing a permanent deal with SAFC, which we're all delighted about aye, and before more strange rumours surrounding Mike Dodds and Wycombe Wanderers but... we'll cover that after Boro in more detail.Gerrin Wilson marra! Well, it's been a bit of a week - you don't know the half of it - but it's not all doom and gloom as the Lads look almost optimistically ahead to the visit of Stoke to Sunderland following a disappointing but promising performance at Bramall Lane. What's the crack? Three games against Stoke in just over five weeks, starting on Saturday... this is football 'eritage. Despite losing on Friday we looked pretty good, so surely that sets us up nicely for Stoke, no?Tommy Watson is hitting his stride, but Paddy needs an arm around him...With Mepham banned, the defence needs a re-shuffle, but we're otherwise fine... so how much do we really need to change? Will Cirkin start on the bench or will Alese let him rest a little longer? Does Régis need to loosen the reins slightly in order to free us up at the top end of the pitch? Leaving Gav with no window but his own.So our new signing then.. is he another rehabilitation project in a similar vein to Clarke and Roberts? Or is he just here to provide some strength in depth? Watford play Man City in the cup tonight, could this work in our favour? Parmos were invented by Italian Americans; this isn't discussed enough here. Look it up.Stockton has always had a smell that lingers and doesn't wash away; again not discussed anywhere near enough. Anthony Patterson has conceded one goal (from an opposition player in open play) in about 8 hours of football so far this season but he's come in for some criticism here; is it justified? Dan Ballard didn't have his best game and the lads do point this out quite a bit too aye; How do we expect Reg to deal with this heading into a home fixture against our very distant cousins who we never think about at all? Mon dieu! Sacré bleu! Sunderland AFC have a head coach, as Kyril has exploited his French connection and appointed a French lad! Gav and Martin got together today to react to it all, trying to avoid lazy stereotypes and occasionally failing. What's le crack? Welcome Reg! He hasn't actually arrived at the academy yet but he'll be there imminently. So has everyone calmed down a bit? It's been a bit of a month for a few, so does this settle the nerves ahead of preseason? Who is Régis Le Bris? The French footy analysts and pundits seem to think highly of him; Is this a distinctly KLD appointment? It certainly feels like one; Are the lads excited by the possibilities or more cautious? What does he need to do first? Can he have a real impact on the players (and the fans) this summer? All this and more! Ha'way the Lads! #SAFC #EFL #RegisLeBris #Championship Hosted on Acast. Aye lads and lasses we threw the towel in early as Dodds and the club drove us a bit insane. Following medical advice we've all had a bit of a break and now we're back to dissect everything in a really disorganised and chaotic fashion, as our Gav is joined by Chris Wynn and Martin Wanless to attempt something resembling a season review for a season Sunderland AFC itself abandoned. What's the crack? That season was shit aye. So how is everyone? Appointment announcement incoming? That's a genuine question like we have no clue if it's coming or not. Mogga, Micky and Mike; Do any come away with any credit whatsoever? Do we think we're going to go for the likes of Will Still - an up and coming coach from the continent type - or are we leaning towards someone with a bit more experience? Can Gav get a word in here? No he can't and it's amusing. He talks too much anyway. All this and more! We'll be back with a part two and possibly a part three and four if the lads survive those conversations. Our Gav and Martin return to react to the increasingly painful and unfortunately still ongoing shite run/limp to the end of our season, following possibly the dullest game we've ever witnessed. Luckily they have some listener questions to try distract them from the football itself. What's the crack? Was that the most boring game we've seen this season/decade/century? Can we end the season now? Editors note/answer: Yes. Yes we can.If Mike Dodds wants a career in management Mike Dodds might like to consider thinking about what Mike Dodds really has to lose by trying to win games at home. Did anyone try to win that game for us? Mike Dodds once again laid the blame at the players feet and doesn't think it's on Mike Dodds but is that fair in this case? Shouldn't he be shouldering responsibility for team selection and tactics? The lads try once again to address the issues at hand and look at the backroom as well as the head coach; should they be cleared out too when summer finally arrives? Answering your questions and more! Aye, just get to the summer aye. #SAFC #EFL #EFLChampionship Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Our Gav Henderson welcomes Martin Wanless back to the pod as the lads look back on Sunderland's goalless draw against Bristol City at the Stadium of Light yesterday, ahead to Tuesday night against Leeds at Elland Road, and grab a few listener thoughts on all things SAFC! What's the crack? It wasn't a win - we couldn't get the ball to go in - but was it better? A far improved performance from Pierre Ekwah yesterday; Martin thinks he needs to get a bit of consistency going ahead of potential competition arriving for his place in that midfield. The lads just don't rate Hjelde, so apologies to Hjelde fans out there; The tangents continue as is now tradition, as Gav and Martin try and dance around a lot of the actual football by getting lost in thoughts about the summer and next season; Are we looking to turn a quick profit on Jobe, hence his long run in the side this season? Should we be thinking more about any future deals with Rigg and prioritising his development in that area of the pitch? Would we rather give Watson (or anyone else at all who we currently own) a chance over the likes of Burstow? What's occurring with Ba getting dropped from the bench? Against all Dodds; Leeds coming up next as Mike attempts to take points from Daniel Farke again this season but Gav is a little nervous. Could we “do a Sunlun” though? We may be back tomorrow with our bumper International Fans Day special recording from the Fans Museum on Friday, or we will catch you all on the other side of the Leeds result however that goes.. Our Martin and Chris had the good sense to fuck off on holiday for Easter so Gavin grabbed our heavy loss specialist, Craig Chapman, to see if they could ignore talking about any of the football from the win on Good Friday over Cardiff or the horrific loss yesterday to Blackburn! What's the crack? Those Good Friday vibes didn't continue, the lads would've talked about them but why bother? Argh why us argh etc Dodds was a mistake. A terrible, terrible mistake aye. Would Heckingbottom be a good appointment and if so, would it be better to get him in now or leave it until the summer? Craig attempts to get Kristjaan Speakman's attention by accusing him of picking the side himself, poor decision making, appointing his mate in a caretaker role unnecessarily, poor player recruitment for a while, resting on ancient successes and tells him to sort it out like because this isn't on like and we may get relegated next season if he doesn't sort it out like. No protests have been planned as yet. The important/vital summer becomes more important/vital still as the "important/vital summer" quote extravaganza continues. All this and more! Chris and Gav look at the Beale burner fiasco that unfolded since we last recorded, at the task Dodds has ahead of him now for the rest of the season, and look ahead to his first challenge against Swansea on Saturday! Or they try to but get distracted aye. What's the crack? BurnerGate; Well that's not very a clever thing to do is it lad? The lads try and work out why it appears he did what he did and why it's a bad idea...Will Michael Beale get another job in coaching after this or should he take some time to consider everything that has happened these past couple months/years; Away from all that and back to the footy as DoddsBall returns this Saturday; what are we expecting from the great one? How exactly does he get to grips with the situation he's been left to deal with? Looking over Swansea this season and in spite of our poor record against them, Chris is optimistic about our chances… but Gav isn't. So what's wrong with Gav? Do we expect to see Jobe or Rusyn up top and which would the lads prefer? Can Mundle take advantage of a bit of a winger injury crisis? Will we start him and even maybe a young Chris Rigg? The lads struggle with the concept of 'quick fire' as they attempt a short listener Q&A but end up going on a bit as they do. Gav goes a bit funny at the mention of Benidorm. Don't ask. Aye there'll be more from us on this in the near future - specifically burner related - but Gav and Chris sat down to give their initial thoughts on the short tenure of Michael Beale coming to an end at SAFC and the appointment of Doddsy as caretaker coach for the rest of the season! What's the crack? Beale gets his name in the Sunlun record books; How are the lads feeling after hearing the news and processing it a little? A bit of a vague statement from the club about Beale's departure; what do they make of it all? Should the club consider fan reaction to an appointment? Can Beale be blamed for that initial backlash? Did it help the situation? The lads feel a bit relieved but not so much over the footy... was that all a massive waste of time? All aboard for DoddsBall 3.0 as the club leaves footballing matters in Mike Dodd's hands for the foreseeable; at least we know the lads will play for him aye? All this and more! Ekwah, Jobe and Jack all scored some lovely goals, but who scored the loveliest? Have recent performances and tactical decisions helped Michael Beale enough to ease some of the pressure he was under? Can he address our issues away from home this season? What positive changes have we seen now our head coach has had time to settle? How has he got more from Clarke than Mowbray was getting towards the end of his time at the club? How are we feeling ahead of Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night? It all went wrong for the Lads at the Stadium of Light last night so our Gav and Martin got together to try work through their emotions.. What's the crack? We didn't score. This is still an issue, surprisingly. Why aren't we trying something different? Is Beale doing enough to hold off the baying mob? Where exactly do the hierarchy go from here with two seemingly strongly held positions becoming more and more clearly defined in fan discourse and disputes over the direction and decision making from Kyril, the board and Speakman.
