It's a busy one on the pod as we are at Tannadice Park, St James' Park and the Etihad – as Steve Crossman gets the latest from the EFL Cup quarter-finals and asks what's next for Celtic as they suffer another defeat. The pod starts in Scotland after Wilfried Nancy has now lost all of his first four matches as Celtic manager. We hear from Nancy himself and Scottish football reporter Kenny Crawford who watched the action unfold. Steve is joined by John Murray and Clinton Morrison as they witnessed Newcastle beat Fulham – in a game that nearly went to penalties! They also hear from Yoane Wissa after he scored his first goal for Newcastle. And not only that, Ian Dennis and Leon Osman join the pod from a very wet Etihad Stadium after they saw Manchester City beat Brentford 2-0 – even Pep Guardiola makes a cameo! And we find out the state of play for the British teams in Women's Champions League action on Wednesday night, after the final round of league phase fixtures.Timecodes:01:20 – Celtic section. 07:27 – Wilfried Nancy interview. 13:13 – Newcastle v Fulham analysis. 15:00 – Yoane Wissa interview. 1620 – Eddie Howe interview 18:40 – Marco Silva interview. 24:!5 – Manchester City v Brentford chat. 29:20 - Pep Guardiola interview. 33:20 - Keith Andrews audio. 35:00 – Women's Champions League.

Through to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and just two points off the top of the table... It's a far cry from where things were this time 12 months ago. David Mooney is joined by City fans Dan Burke and Luke Stanley to discuss the week, with a focus on the performances in the last two games. Perhaps it wasn't top notch against Palace, but you can't argue with a 3-0 away win, while a much-changed team put in a professional display in the League Cup quarter-final tie. Speaking of the demons of last season, we're taking a look at how much things have improved a year on. City have scored more, conceded fewer, and taken more points than at this stage last season, so what has changed in the squad to recover from such a bad period and just how bad did it get? Plus, with West Ham to come this week, James Jones from We Are West Ham joins the show to discuss what's been going wrong for them so far this term and whether or not they're in real trouble at the bottom of the table. Plus... What do you know about Father Christmas in Norway? ========== To get more podcasts or to listen without the ads, join our Patreon. Host Ricky Sacks is joined by returning regular panellists Broadcaster Russ Williams, Actor TJ Ramini and Marlon as Xavi Simons inspired us to a first Premier League win since late October with a goal and an assist as we beat Brentford 2-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Dutch international produced arguably his best performance in our colours following his August arrival, setting up Richarlison for the opener before scoring his first goal as a Spurs player with a wonderful solo effort, leaving us in control at half-time. We probably should have won by more as Thomas Frank came up against his former side for the first time, creating a whole host of chances which we didn't take, while Guglielmo Vicario was only called into action once to keep out Igor Thiago in the first period. It was a first league victory and clean sheet since the 3-0 win at Everton on 26 October and a first home victory in the division since the opening day against Burnley but it was a performance to leave us with plenty of optimism going into the busy festive period and beyond. In this episode I'm joined by Phil Costa to talk about the 2-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday night. We chat about the impactful return of Ben White, Mikel Merino's goal and his crazy stats in 2025, as well as his position in the team. Is he now a centre-forward more than a repurposed midfielder? There's discussion of the goals we scored, how Brentford made life difficult for us in the second half, David Raya's incredible save, as well as more injury concerns after both Cristhian Mosquera and Declan Rice had to go off. Then we spend some time chatting about the other Premier League games this week, including Chelsea being beaten by Leeds, Liverpool dropping more points at home, and lots more.Follow Phil on BlueSky - https://bsky.app/profile/philcosta.bsky.socialGet a Goodly Morning mug here: https://p1r.es/GoodlyMorningMugHere's the Men in Blazers interview with William Saliba mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_tMQB725hwGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast.
