Welcome back to the Royal Blue podcast! EXCLUSIVE NordVPN Deal ➼ https://nordvpn.com/efc Try it risk-free now with a 30-day money-back guarantee In today's episode, Ian Croll is joined by the Liverpool Echo's Everton reporters Chris Beesley and Joe Thomas to dissect the major talking points surrounding the Blues as the Premier League fixtures drop and pre-season preparations loom. The main item on today's agenda is manager David Moyes' controversial interview on talkSPORT. Speaking on Jim White's show, Moyes caused an immediate stir among the fan base when asked about Everton's aims and ambitions for the upcoming campaign. Moyes remarked:“I don't know if a club like Everton now we can make big, huge strides but we see how well the likes of Bournemouth and Brentford are doing, so there's no reason why we all shouldn't have those ambitions to try and at least match those clubs and how they go about it. But I would have to say that at Everton we are trying to be back up at the top end of the teams that we can. For long periods of last season we were, we just didn't quite have enough in the last four or five weeks of the season.” Unsurprisingly, these comments have not gone down well with many Evertonians. The panel debates whether Moyes is merely injecting a dose of harsh realism regarding the club's current recruitment model, or if he is guilty of deliberately managing expectations downwards. Furthermore, we address the frustration of fans who feel that comparing a historic giant like Everton to historically smaller clubs like Bournemouth and Brentford shows a glaring lack of elite ambition. Jack is joined by Baker from the Above Average FPL podcast to break down a fascinating week of Tottenham transfer strategy as the summer rebuild begins to take shape. The lads dive straight into the sensational links bringing Sandro Tonali to N17, evaluating how his technical profile perfectly aligns with Roberto De Zerbi's tactical vision. We also look at the massive optics of the deal—after a gruelling relegation battle, does buying a star player directly from a near rival like Newcastle represent a massive show of dominance from the Spurs hierarchy? Attention then turns to a massive boardroom dilemma following Brighton's bid for teenage centre-back Luka Vuskovic. We debate whether using one of Europe's most sought-after young assets in an effective swap deal for Jan Paul van Hecke—who only has a year left on his current contract—makes long-term sense. Plus, we celebrate Pedro Porro's big new contract extension, explaining why his elite fitness and availability make him the ultimate weapon for De Zerbi, before questioning if a rumoured move to Brentford means the end of the road for Pape Matar Sarr. Finally, the show wraps up with some World Cup scouting as Baker highlights the players who have taken his fancy during the tournament so far. Our guest on Episode #79 of the TGG Podcast is Joe Newton. Joe was part of Thomas Frank's inner circle at both Brentford and Tottenham and is a new breed of analyst. After starting as a youth player at Tranmere and Wrexham, he got a degree and Masters in performance analysis and secured a job at the New Saints in Wales. His big break came when he was appointed first-team analyst at Brentford, where he forged a close relationship with Frank and helped the club gain promotion to the Premier League. After that came a brief and turbulent spell at Tottenham, which ended in the sack in February 2026. Joe told us about his progression in the game, about what makes Brentford special, why things went wrong at Tottenham and about his special relationship with Frank. In this episode we also have an interview with Adam Ridgewell, who worked for Southampton for five years before becoming Account Manager with Genius Sports. Adam told us how clubs like Brentford are using Genius Sports' tracking data and Performance Studio to gain an edge in the game.

The season is overBrentford came within a cat's whisker of embarking on a European tour next season. It was close, but ultimately no cigar. Yet when you consider that plenty of pundits, bookmakers and rival fans had the Bees tipped for a relegation battle before a ball was kicked, finishing 9th in the Premier League - equalling the club's highest-ever top-flight finish - represents another remarkable achievementWith the dust settling on the season, Beesotted sat down with Brentford Head Coach Keith Andrews for a wide-ranging and candid conversation recorded at the One Over The Ait pubAt the start of the season, Andrews could barely escape the "free-kick coach" label. Nine months later, he's guided Brentford to another top-half Premier League finish and established himself as his own man in the dugout. This conversation offers a fascinating insight into the thinking, personality and decision-making of a coach who faced plenty of challenges during his first season in chargeKeith discusses Thiago, World Cup call-ups, his journey from pundit to Brentford coach, his passion for Ireland and Irish football, and the pride he takes in helping develop the next generation of players and coachesHe also opens up about Yoane Wissa's decision not to play for Brentford at the start of the season, dealing with the upheaval and uncertainty that surrounded the club during the summer, the opening-day defeat against Forest that left many supporters fearing the worst, what went wrong away at Fulham, the memorable victory over Manchester United, and his reflections on a first season that ultimately exceeded most expectationsAs with any honest football conversation, some questions are answered directly, others are explored in greater depth, and a few remain open to interpretation. But throughout the interview, Andrews provides genuine insight into the challenges, pressures and rewards of leading a Premier League football club with small budgetPart Two will be available shortly on PrideOfWest.London and all major podcast platformsMake sure you FOLLOW Beesotted so the podcast drops straight into your feed the moment it is releasedAnd get hold of your exclusive Thiago, Henderson, Hickey and Ajer World Cup T-Shirts at the Bees Megastore on beesotted.com Hosted on Acast. One more game. One more moment. One more trophy lift.Arsenal head into the final Premier League game of the season with the title already secured and a first league crown in twenty-two years confirmed. Before attention shifts elsewhere, this episode stays firmly in the present and looks ahead to one final league outing away at Crystal Palace — and everything that comes with trophy lift day. The conversation opens with the season's final round of Who Am I? before moving into the wider Premier League picture and a final set of prediction calls. Liverpool's closing-day atmosphere, the noise surrounding Arne Slot, Brentford's season, and the tension surrounding Tottenham and West Ham all feature as the hosts reflect on how strange final-day football can become when scoreboards start to matter as much as the pitch. There is also a special Six Pack celebrating six iconic Arsenal trophy lifts — from Patrick Vieira and the Invincibles to Tony Adams, Wembley memories and the anticipation of Martin Ødegaard preparing to lift the Premier League trophy. A reflection on moments that helped define eras and what this title means in the wider story of Arsenal Football Club. Then attention turns to Selhurst Park. The hosts discuss whether Mikel Arteta should prioritise rhythm or rotation, balancing a final Premier League performance with what comes next. There is conversation around team news, the freedom that comes with pressure removed, Arsenal's defensive discipline this season, and whether lifting the title changes how this team plays. The episode closes with reflections on players who have carried Arsenal through different eras, what this title means emotionally, and who the hosts are most looking forward to seeing lift the trophy when the moment finally arrives. Champions of England. One final league game remains.Chapters:(00:00) - Arteta's Non-Negotiables & Intro(00:18) - Show Setup & Final Day Preview(01:56) - Who Am I? This is Part C of D of Undressing Jack the Stripper, an eight part series made in conjunction with the True Crime Enthusiast podcast. From the late 1950s to the mid-1960s, the bodies of eight sex-workers (Elizabeth Figg, Gwynneth Rees, Hannah Tailford, Irene Lockwood, Helen Barthelemy, Mary Fleming, Margaret McGowan and Bridget O'Hara) were found dumped in or near the River Thames in West London. Panic spread that a sadistic serial killer was on the loose who targeted young petite brunettes; stripped and strangled them, dumped each body within weeks and streets of each other. Yet with not a single witness to his crimes, even though several suspects have since been named, with no convictions, it's a series of killing which remains a mystery to this day. After the success of their ten-part series, Psychopath: Two Side of Patrick MacKay, Mike at Murder Mile and Paul at the True Crime Enthusiast join forces once again to bring you an eight-part crossover series about one of Britain's most infamous unsolved serial killing – Jack the Stripper. This episode is about Helen Barthelemy & Mary Fleming.Location: rear of 199 Boston Manor Road, Brentford, London, TW8Date: Friday 24th of April 1964 (body found)Victims: Helen BarthelemyLocation: 48 Berrymede Road, Chiswick, London, W4Date: Tuesday 14th of July 1964 (body found)Victims: Mary FlemingSeven time nominated at the True Crime Awards, Independent Podcast Awards and the British Podcast Awards, Murder Mile is one of the best UK / British true crime podcasts covering only 20 square miles of West London.
