Host Ricky Sacks is joined by Jason McGovern, Ian Lubin and George Achillea as we reflect on the news that Thomas Frank is on the brink of being sacked at Tottenham Hotspur. Club chiefs are now understood to be weighing up whether to axe him before Tuesday's Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund. Spurs' hierarchy, previously steadfast in their support of the Dane, registered the scale of the furious fan reaction to Saturday's 2-1 home defeat to West Ham. Senior figures are understood to be keen to take the temperature of Frank's squad to assess if there is still internal support for the former Brentford boss. But there is a growing sense that the Dane cannot restore any authority and that the best move for all parties could be to bring his miserable seven-month reign to an end swiftly. We discuss when Spurs are likely to make the decisions in addition to who will steady the ship on an interim basis and who the panel would like to be the next permanent manager of the football club. Brentford were left ruing missed chances following a positive performance that unfortunately ended with Liam Rosenior's first Premier League points in charge of Chelsea. Chelsea return to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Brentford, but it was anything but comfortable. Manny and Simon review a game where Chelsea had to suffer, dig in, and grind out a result — something this team has too often failed to do in the past. The hosts acknowledge that Brentford missed several big chances, but give real credit to Chelsea for staying alive, showing resilience, and getting over the line. There's praise for the players and Liam Rosenior, whose approach helped Chelsea secure a win that previous versions of this team would likely have thrown away.Special mention goes to Robert Sánchez, who delivered a strong performance after weeks of heavy criticism, stepping up when Chelsea needed him most. Finally, attention turns to Europe as the lads preview the next Champions League fixture against Pafos, asking whether Chelsea can build some momentum and finally string results together.
Brentford travelled to Stamford Bridge and put in a brilliant performance, taking the game to Chelsea and dominating long spells of the game. While it may seem like Manchester United's season is about over, knocked out of both domestic cups, not in European football, and out of the title contention, they still want to qualify for next season's Champions League. As the table stands at present, United are only three points off that coveted fourth spot in the league. A win in the Manchester Derby could propel them on to a strong second half. City will look to narrow the gap on league leaders Arsenal who play after them away at Nottingham Forest, always a tough fixture for Mikel Arteta's Arsenal. Chelsea's new look side will host Brentford in a London Derby. The Blues will look to implement new coach, Liam Rosenior's tactics in order to take full points against the Bees. Today I spoke with two individuals who, for obvious reasons, must remain unnamed yet are deeply involved in organising the forthcoming protests against Chelsea's current ownership. Their perspective is neither theatrical nor hysterical but rather rooted in a sustained unease about the direction of the club. It made for a conversation that was at once sobering and revealing, and one suspects their concerns will resonate far beyond the immediate circle of disgruntled supporters.See here: Follow them HERE.From there we turned to the now familiar subject of defensive recruitment. In particular we examined Chelsea's longstanding interest in Jeremy Jacquet. Not a headline grabber but a player whose profile suggests discipline, composure and a quiet reliability that has been conspicuously absent at times. Finally we cast an eye towards Chelsea's upcoming trip to face an in form Brentford. A team who may lack the glamour of the traditional elite but possess both structure and self belief, making them a decidedly awkward proposition on their own turf. It is the kind of fixture that promises no comfort, only complication.Whether Chelsea can impose themselves or merely navigate the difficulty remains to be seen, but the stage is certainly set for another testing afternoon. Well this interview went #TeamsLike Brentford very quicklyBilly “The Bee” Grant appeared on Talksport's The Sports Bar with Jason Cundy and Jamie O'Hara to preview the upcoming Chelsea v Brentford match. It turned into one of the more awkward previews, with loosely structured questions and a fair bit of attempted rage-baiting as Jason Cundy repeatedly framed it as “small club Brentford” taking on “big club Chelsea” - despite Brentford sitting above Chelsea in the table and having beaten them three times at Stamford Bridge in the past four seasonsNot an easy interview at all but Billy navigated the line of questioning, setting the tone for a lively and occasionally chaotic build-up to the matchYou can also catch Beesotted's Chelsea match preview podcast, live now on PrideOfWest.LondonClick the link to sign up to Bees United and sign up for the presentation by Brentford performance coach Ben Ryan www.beesunited.org.uk/ Hosted on Acast. Chelsea lose 3-2 at home to Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg, but somehow remain very much alive in the tie. Manny and Simon review a chaotic night at Stamford Bridge where a heavily rotated Chelsea side managed to keep the deficit to one goal, despite Arsenal fielding a near full-strength XI and failing to take full advantage. The hosts break down the key moments that cost Chelsea — silly defensive mistakes, Robert Sánchez's errors, and once again a lack of discipline and basic fundamentals that continue to undermine the team. While the result wasn't ideal, the lads discuss why Chelsea can still believe heading into the second leg.Attention then turns to a massive Premier League West London derby at home to Brentford on Saturday. With pressure mounting and performances still inconsistent, can Chelsea respond in front of their own fans?

Were Manchester United right to sack Ruben Amorim? Gary, Alan and Micah debate whether United need to follow the model of Manchester City, Arsenal and Aston Villa, backing long-serving managers with real influence over recruitment — and ask the big question: when will the problems at Old Trafford finally end? Praise is also heaped on Keith Andrews at Brentford, who has enjoyed an outstanding season, with his side sitting 5th and just two points off the top four. The panel also discuss the cagey affair at the Emirates. While it ended in a draw, the point keeps Arsenal six points clear of Manchester City, who were held by Brighton for the third league game in a row. The Rest Is Football is powered by Fuse Energy. Suj and James reflect on all the midweek games as Igor Thiago and Bruno Guimaraes again rewarded owners like James, which meant more pain for Suj, but has the time been and gone to invest in them? Or are their contributions to good to ignore? Those returns helped Brentford and Newcastle in top the top 6, helped by the fact none of the 6 who started the week in those places won as this was another Gamweek that saw a decent proportion of draws. One team who were beaten were Chelsea, as Harry Wilson scored the winner to also maintain his run of form, but The Blues will now consistently appeal with an incredible run of fixtures coming up under new manager Liam Rosenior. All the key FPL assets covered, including enabling forwards Eli Kroupi Junior and Matheus Mane who were on the scoresheet again, and the pain continues for West Ham and Tottenham. Listen AD Free, get exclusive episodes and early releases: https://www.patreon.com/c/Footballforkids Email Darren: Darren@FootballForKidsPodcast.com Welcome back to the Football For Kids podcast with Darren Rees, now proudly entering its fourth year of football stories, big dreams and proper journeys. In this episode, we tell the remarkable life story of Igor Thiago, the Brentford goal machine who, at the time of recording, sits as the second highest goalscorer in the Premier League. And this is not a tale that starts with flash boots or fancy academies. It begins with neighbourhood football in Brazil, jumper goalposts, hard work, and a quiet belief that refused to go away. Born in Gama, just outside Brasília, Thiago grew up in a working family where nothing was handed out for free. Football was joy, not a plan. Until one night, watching the Premier League on television, something sparked. A young Thiago saw Cristiano Ronaldo flying down the wing for Manchester United and thought, maybe, just maybe, that could be him one day. Life soon tested that dream. When Thiago was just 13, his father passed away. Overnight, childhood changed. He worked jobs from the age of 11, clearing weeds, carrying shopping, mixing cement, running long distances after work, all while going to school and training. Before he was a striker, he was a worker. Before he scored goals, he learned how to keep going. This episode follows Thiago's slow and stubborn rise through futsal, local Brazilian clubs, and a brave move away from home to chase football properly. From Cruzeiro in Brazil to freezing winters in Bulgaria, from record breaking nights with Club Brugge to a club record move to Brentford, his journey is packed with setbacks, injuries, patience and belief. You will hear how Thiago fought through serious knee injuries, waited for his chance in England, then exploded onto the Premier League stage with goals, records and a Player of the Month award. From carrying bricks to carrying a football team, this is a story about resilience, timing, and trusting your path. Perfect for kids, families, young footballers and anyone who loves a proper underdog story, this episode shows that greatness does not care where you start. Sometimes the longest journeys create the strongest people. So whether you are listening in the car, at home, or on the way to football training, this is one story you will not forget. And if you know someone who loves football just as much as you do, pass it on. See you next time. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
