Is James Garner Everton's most divisive footballer? Why does a player who clearly possesses much talent divide opinion among Everton's fanbase? The midfielder has established himself as an important player under David Moyes with many strings to his bow, however since joining the Blues back in 2022, the former Manchester United man has yet to display his attacking qualities, having played 84 times, scoring only two goals and notching four assists. Compare that to his loan spell at Nottingham Forest in the Championship in the 2021/22 season, he scored four goals and provided 10 assists, which contributed to the East Midlands club's promotion to the Premier League. While Garner has shown glimpses of what he can offer, he is het to convince many Evertonians he can push on. Everton manager David Moyes will no doubt be hoping for more from him next season. Thierno Barry is set to undergo a medical with Everton after the club reached a deal with Villarreal for the forward. The 22-year-old is moving closer to joining David Moyes' squad after talks between the Blues and the La Liga side reached a conclusion. As previously reported, negotiations had been ongoing for some time. By the middle of last week there was growing hope Barry would become the club's second signing of the summer. Work still needs to be done for the deal to be completed but a move is now looking increasingly likely, with the clubs having settled on a fee for the France Under-21s international. Everton held extensive discussions with Villarreal last month, leading up to the breakthrough over a fee. MISSION, Texas - Hidalgo County Commissioner Ever Villarreal has announced what he says is an “amazing” transportation project that will help transform the western part of the county.Villarreal said the county, working with the City of Mission, is going to become “project sponsor” for two sections of the proposed county loop between Granjeno and Penitas and turn them into non-toll projects. By becoming project sponsor, Villarreal said, the county, working with the City of Mission, can help find funding for the two sections, ensuring they get built much faster. “It is an amazing project of not just for the City of Mission, but for the City of McAllen also. That is because the City of McAllen, as you know… they are part owner of the Anzalduas Bridge,” Villarreal said. “And it would be amazing, not just for McAllen and Mission financially, but also for our neighbors on the west side of the county, for the growth this amazing project can usher in.”Here is an interview the Rio Grande Guardian secured with Commissioner Villarreal.Go to www.riograndeguardian.com to read the latest border news stories and watch the latest news videos.

Everton have started their summer recruitment drive with the permanent capture of Carlos Alcaraz after a successful spell on loan. But there remains a lot for David Moyes to do. Little wonder, then, the Blues boss is getting linked with players left, right and centre, whether it be Manchester City pair Jack Grealish and James McAtee, or Villarreal rising star Thierno Barry. But there are also pressing contract situations to sort, most pertinently Idrissa Gueye, who alongside Everton team-mate Iliman Ndiaye, starred as Senegal secured a stunning 3-1 win at the City Ground last night over woeful England, whose decision to rest Jordan Pickford backfired. Everton's recruitment team has been formally boosted by the appointment of Nick Hammond. The transfer specialist has now started his work as part of the new-look recruitment team at Everton. What happens when a 13-year-old boy, sexually abused and desperate for protection, turns to gang life—and survives a decade behind bars, two gunshot wounds, and addiction? In this week's episode, Victor pulls back the curtain on a life shaped by trauma, violence, and ultimately, redemption. This isn't just a story about survival—it's about transformation. Victor doesn't hold back as he shares the darkest corners of his past: the fear, the prison corruption, the emotional numbness. But it's his raw honesty and emotional breakthroughs that will stop you in your tracks. From ayahuasca ceremonies that forced him to confront buried trauma, to the quiet strength of fatherhood after being told he'd never have kids again—Victor's journey is nothing short of powerful. The most gripping part? Victor's realization that leaving prison wasn't enough:"You don't just stop doing bad—you gotta do good every fcking day."*If you've ever judged someone by their rap sheet, this conversation will flip your perspective. If you've ever struggled to forgive yourself or start over, Victor's story might just give you the courage to try.To follow Victor on IG visit: @realtimeresultsllc To follow him on TikTok visit: @realtimeresultsllc To follow along and help support Victor's awesome business that helps give back to the community visit: https://www.realtimeresultsllc.com/ —Support the showFollow Wild Chaos on Social Media: Apple iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-wild-chaos-podcast/id1732761860Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5KFGZ6uABb1sQlfkE2TIoc?si=8ff748aa4fc64331 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wildchaospodcastBam's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bambam0069Youtube: https://youtube.com/@wildchaospodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@wildchaosshowMeta (Facebook): https://www.facebook.com/wildchaospodcast
The foundations of modern liberal democracy weren't forged in the ideals of freedom and equality alone, but in the disciplined halls of Prussian military academies. In this wide-ranging conversation, Nicolas Villarreal reveals how the professional military education system that emerged in 19th century Germany created the bureaucratic apparatus that would spread across the world and enable liberal democratic capitalism to function. What emerges is a fascinating dialectic that shapes our current political crisis: the tension between the "universal class" of professionals (bureaucrats, educators, administrators) who manage society through expertise, and Bonapartist strongmen who consolidate power within smaller cliques. Neither offers genuine democratic participation or addresses fundamental contradictions. This historical analysis exposes blind spots in Marxist theory that continue to hamper left analysis today. Marx, focused primarily on England and France, missed crucial developments in Germany that would shape state formation globally. This oversight left Marxism without coherent theories of military power and bureaucracy—a gap that remains unfilled. Our current economic crisis differs from previous eras. Rather than a straightforward decline in profitability, we face Soviet-style problems where increasing investments yield diminishing returns across education, healthcare, infrastructure, and technology. Professional bureaucracy grows more expensive while delivering less value, creating conditions for reactionary backlash. The conversation ultimately points toward the need for developing an anti-professional politics that doesn't simply tail one bourgeois faction or another. As the educated professional class fractures along partisan lines, neither defending institutions that perpetuate oligarchy nor embracing reactionary populism offers a path forward. Can we envision social organization beyond the professional/Bonapartist dialectic before the increasing contradictions of capitalism lead to further crisis?Send us a text Musis by Bitterlake, Used with Permission, all rights to BitterlakeSupport the showCrew:Host: C. The 2024/25 LaLiga season is officially over. It started with Athletic Club's 1-1 draw with Getafe on August 15, and it ended on May 25 with Barcelona's 3-0 victory over Los Leones. Join Ben Sully (@SullyBen) and Paco Polit (@pacopolitENG) as they recap the final LaLiga matchday of the season. We kick off with Celta Vigo's narrow 2-1 away win over Getafe, as club legend Iago Aspas netted a late winner to seal Europa League football for Claudio Giráldez's side. Meanwhile, there was a pitch invasion over in Vallecas after Rayo Vallecano booked their place in the Conference League. A goalless draw was enough to clinch eighth spot as Osasuna failed to take three points off Alavés.The focus then turns to Espanyol's successful survival bid. A 2-0 victory over Las Palmas secured their safety and condemned Leganés to the second tier despite their win over basement side Real Valladolid. We then start part two with Kylian Mbappé's goals and Real Madrid's farewells. Carlo Ancelotti and Luka Modrić were among those to say their goodbyes in an emotional day at the Santiago Bernabéu. As for champions Barcelona, they wrapped up their treble-winning campaign with a dominant win over Athletic.Elsewhere, Alexander Sørloth continued his red-hot form with a hat-trick, Villarreal piled the misery on Sevilla, and Real Betis warmed up for the Conference League final with a draw against Valencia.Remember, you can head over to lllonline.substack.com to access all of our written and audio content. Hello Rank Squad! It's the first transfer focused episode of the summer, and we set out the stall for what's to come in some of the biggest deals. Set your stalls out, ready yourselves - because some of these ones will definitely become sagas, dragged on for months in negotiations. Jack starts things off by giving some love to Villarreal and the job that Marcelino has done with the Yellow Submarine, before we get down to business discussing the latest on the future of Florian Wirtz - the transfer that's likely to set the high bar for spending, if Bayer Leverkusen's star playmaker does depart the BayArena. Then it's on to Dean's list, where we chat through a host of names likely to be on the move, starting around the £25m mark and working our way up to long beyond the £100m boundary. There's chat about a host of players, including Dusan Vlahovic, Liam Delap, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Martin Zubimendi, Bryan Mbuemo, Xavi Simons, Viktor Gyokeres, Ebere Eze, Rodrygo, Benjamin Sesko, Alexander Isak and loads more. And then in Part Three, we take a look at which of the deals discussed might represent the best value for money in the market, trying to balance that impossible scale between risk and reward. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

Meanwhile, the rebuild's already started at Real Madrid with Dean Huijsen signed and the announcement of new manager Xavi Alonso seemingly imminent… And in the Bundesliga, Dortmund completed their remarkable turnaround under Niko Kovac to seal a Champions League spot - while champions Bayern Munich finished the season 13 points clear of Leverkusen as Harry Kane made it back-to-back Golden Boots.
