Danny and Charles are joined by Craig from Mansfield Matters to look ahead to Friday night's game. Mansfield had a terrific start to the season but have recently struggled to keep up the momentum and find themselves in 14th place in League One. With the future of manager Nigel Clough cloudy, Mansfield haven't won in the league since they beat Stockport away at the beginning of January. In fact, they've lost their last 3 games, which all came against sides in the bottom 4. It's not often you encounter a dog taking part in First Team training. At Mansfield Town, however, Bobbie (pooch of manager, Nigel Clough) is very much part of the furniture. As is Adam Collin, a Goalkeeper Coach enjoying his first full season in the role. Following a morning on the grass, we sat down with the ex-EFL stopper to discuss his transition from player to coach, how he implements his philosophy and how not one training session is ever the same. From being released at Newcastle to amassing more than 600 appearances and making his EFL bow at the age of 24, Adam is honest, insightful and, thanks to some select stories, quite entertaining. NB: Explicit language is used in this recording.

The Cobblers welcome Mansfield Town to Sixfields on Saturday for the next League Two fixture of the 2022/23 season. It's only been a few weeks since Northampton Town last faced the Stags. The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Field Mill on Boxing Day. Since then, both sides have had mixed fortunes. Mansfield have won 1, drawn 1 and lost 2 and the Cobblers have won 1 and lost 3. While the Cobblers have brought in goalkeeper, Tom King, Nigel Clough has had a far busier transfer window. Ollie Hawkins and George Lapslie have both moved to Gillingham and Louis Reed (Swindon), Alfie Kilgour (Bristol Rovers) and Callum Johnson (Ross County) have come in. Another bit of player movement has seen Danny Johnson return from his loan spell at Walsall, where he scored 12 goals in the first half of the season. The jury is out on whether Johnson will play on Saturday or if he will be sold but Nigel Clough is sure to keep Cobblers boss, Jon Brady guessing. Joining Charles Commins to discuss all of this and give his prediction for Saturday's game, is Mansfield Town fan and host of the Mansfield Matters podcast, Craig Priest. _________________________ Buy our BEAUTIFUL! They do say it's a funny old game, but the Christmas and New Year fixture schedule has created a very different type of challenge for many managers this year. Rather than the relentless schedule of match after match in a short period of time, this year covid and injuries have resulted in many being postponed, and then the challenge is keeping the players sharp and on form as Sheffield United's Paul Heckingbottom explains to Mark Clemmit. Elsewhere at Mansfield Town, Nigel Clough had cause to be fearful of the sack only a couple of months ago after a torrid run of form, before a total turnaround saw his side go on a blistering run of 10 wins in 11 games which have hauled his stags right up the table in Skybet League Two! Cloughie sits down with Clem to explain exactly what happened!

How many phases have to be played after a set piece for a goal to be considered as having come from open play? All the important questions asked on this week's podcast for fans of Northampton Town. Northampton Town 2-0 Mansfield TownJon Brady's Northampton got back to winning ways by beating struggling Mansfield Town on Saturday and that means the podcast team are in a jubilant mood. From a terrible kick off to having a penalty decision overturned, you'd think that Mansfield had caught a terrible case of Cobblers-itis on Saturday. Usually we'd expect a side in poor form to rock up at Sixfields and turn their season around but thankfully the Stags hadn't read that particular script. Goals from open play were scored too as Aaron McGowan and Fraser Horsfield both found the net at least two phases after a throw-in. Yes, we're claiming that! And despite a couple of chances for Nigel Clough's side, the Cobblers held firm and moved upto 8th in League Two.
