W Trójmieście rozbudowana została sieć stacji Agencji Regionalnego Monitoringu Atmosfery: Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot, czyli tak zwanej fundacji ARMAG, zajmującej się badaniem jakości powietrza w aglomeracji Trójmiejskiej. Zaprezentowana została kolejna stacja pomiarowa wchodząca w skład specjalnego systemu, którym na bieżąco badana jest jakość powietrza. Znajduje się ona obok ronda Jacka Kaczmarskiego, przy ul. Słowackiego. Mierzyć będzie głównie zanieczyszczenia z transportu samochodowego. To już dziewiąta taka stacja w całym Trójmieście. Ta najnowsza, a także kilka innych została także dopasażona w czujniki mierzące cząsteczki PM1, czyli cząsteczki pyłu zawieszonego o średnicy zaledwie 1 mikrometra. Z Magdaleną Haas, dyrektor fundacji ARMAG, nie tylko o nowej stacji, rozmawiał nasz reporter Kuba Kaługa.

Abstract: Purpose: The American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, and the Association for Molecular Pathology (ACMG/AMP) have proposed a set of evidence-based guidelines to support sequence variant interpretation. The ClinGen hearing loss expert panel (HL-EP) introduced further specifications into the ACMG/AMP framework for genetic hearing loss. This study aimed to semi-automate the HL ACMG/AMP rules. Methods: VIP-HL aggregates information from external databases to automate 13 out of 24 ACMG/AMP rules specified by HL-EP, namely PVS1, PS1, PM1, PM2, PM4, PM5, PP3, BA1, BS1, BS2, BP3, BP4, and BP7. Results: We benchmarked VIP-HL using 50 variants where 83 rules were activated by the HL expert panel. VIP-HL concordantly activated 96% (80/83) rules, significantly higher than that of by InterVar (47%; 39/83). Of 4948 ClinVar star 2+ variants from 142 deafness-related genes, VIP-HL achieved an overall variant interpretation concordance in 88.0% (4353/4948). VIP-HL is available with a user-friendly web interface at http://hearing.genetics.bgi.com/. Conclusion: VIP-HL is an integrated online tool for reliable automated variant classification in hearing loss genes. Neu Kaliß ist ein alter und traditioneller Standort für die Papierherstellung in der Griesen Gegend. Bis heute zeugen eine alte Industrieruine und ein turmhoher Schornstein aus Backstein von über 200 Jahren industrieller Betriebsamkeit. 1799 wurde hier – wegen der günstigen Lage am Neue Elde Kanal – die erste Papiermühle errichtet. 1871 begann die erste maschinelle Papierfertigung. Felix Schoeller & Theodor Bausch gründeten ihre Feinpapierfabrik. Sie stellten Qualitätspapiere mit Wasserzeichen her, dem Stierkopfs-Wappen Mecklenburgs, und exportiert sie bis in die USA. Unterbrochen von beiden Weltkriegen und anschließender Enteignung und Demontage der ursprünglichen Maschinen gelang 1949 ein Neuanfang. Mitarbeiter des volkeigenen Betriebes VEB Feinpapierfabriken entwickelten aus alten Maschinenteilen und Schrotteisen mit Improvisationskunst und Kreativität eine neue Papiermaschine, die PM1. Nach dem Mauerfall wurden die Geschäfte von der Feinpapier GmbH weitergeführt. Ein neues Fabrikgebäude entstand Anfang der 90er Jahre für die heutige Spezialpapierfabrik. Sie wurde 1992 der Melitta Unternehmensgruppe angeschlossen. Diplom-Ingenieur Gernold Stier hat fast 40 Jahre in der Papierfabrik Neu Kaliß gearbeitet, zuletzt bis November 2012 als Leiter für Finanzen, Einkauf und Personal in der Spezialpapierfabrik am neuen Standort. Sachkundig erzählt Stier von der wechselvollen Zeiten und den Umbrüchen der Papierherstellung in der Griesen Gegend. Das Regionalmuseum in der ehemaligen Dorfschule Kaliß zeigt eine Ausstellung zur Geschichte der Papierfabrik.
