We were watching the 4th Season of The Expanse – a show that takes place in the future where a lot of stuff happens in space. (We call it Space Stress – as in “You up for watching some Space Stress?”) The woman in charge of Earth was on a space shuttle talking with a man who seemed to be an advisor of some sort – maybe a vice president or secretary of education? “Who's that guy?” we asked, since we'd never seen him before. Then the woman in charge of Earth (Chrisjen Avasarala is the character's name.) introduced him to someone as her husband and we were, like, “What happened to her previous husband? Did he die? Have we taken a dramatic jump forward in time? Has so much time passed that her sweet husband died and she had time to remarry a younger busybody one?” If you'd like to keep reading Actors Are Not So Replaceable visit the Songs for the Struggling Artist blog. As someone that loves watching movies, I do have a love-hate relationship with action films and the tiresome stereotypes they continue to showcase about women and toxic masculinity. So I decided to rant about it with my beautiful film fanatic / partner / roommate - Daniel.During this RANT MONDAY episode we spoke about women continually being used as props in action movies and how the toxic men are always seen as irresistible to every women in sight. We wondered:- Why do action movies always have unnecessary love stories - are women only there so the 'hero' has someone to make out with in the end of the film?- Why are women always wearing heels and never wearing hair ties in fight scenes?- Are there any action movies that aren't problematic AF?The Nasty Woman Podcast is hosted and produced by TNWC founder Demi Lynch. We are of course on Instagram so make sure you give us a follow @thenastywomanclub . SUMMARYSuccession planning involves having the right people at the right time to fill critical positions in your organization, but yet many organizations don’t have a succession management process in place. From my experience, I have witnessed organizational cultures degenerate to toxic levels because when the CEO left, they took their workplace culture with them. They didn’t think about or plan for a successor, which left the organization exposed to incompetent leadership. Succession planning doesn’t have to be a complex and multi-layered process. Even the simplest design can have a positive return for a company. This week’s Tackle Tuesday episode focuses on just that!Beth Armknecht Miller, CEO of Executive Velocity, and I discussed how to build leadership pipelines that are integrated into a succession management process that will ensure your company can fill critical positions at the right time to ensure strategic outcomes are achieved. *This episode was recorded in November 2020. There comes times when employees may bump heads with their employers. Employees feel underappreciated, taken for granted, or replaceable. I have a few thoughts on that feeling of exchangeability. Creating a series of guidelines and systems that could potentially help any employee fill your position in the case that you should be unable to, be promoted out of, or decide to move on from, should be seen as an incredibly valuable asset to a business. In this episode, I encourage you to think differently about what it means to feel "replaceable" in the workplace and how it doesn't always have to be a negative feeling. Cheers, -T

This week on the show I have CFL standout Chris Ackie. Chris is a linebacker with the Toronto Argonauts and a 2015 first round draft pick. We talk about his career growing up in football from the youth leagues in Cambridge Ontario through to Laurier University into the pros for the past five seasons. We also spoke about the importance of being a multi sport athlete growing up and how the coordinative patterns, habits and overall athleticism improve allowing you to be a more versatile athlete in your sport of choice. The thing I am most impressed with through talking with Chris, and the reason I named the episode Everyone Is Replaceable is the evolution he showed throughout his career. Moving from level to level he took it upon himself to make sure he was successful. Whether it was improving his understanding of training by learning to incorporate more rest & recovery work in the pros, incorporating more hours of film into his week, learning to watch more than just his own play to be able to be better prepared for opponents, or so many other things Chris was able to do to to create the success he has had in his career, the key was always being able to adapt. Everyone in professional sports is replaceable. The way you show you deserve to be there is by adapting and evolving with the game the way Chris has done so successfully throughout his career. To get in contact with Chris or find out more about his football camps, reach him through Instagram @Chrisackie21 or through email: firstname.lastname@example.orgCheck out the full show here;www.elitedevelopmentpodcast.caCheck out my website;www.coachdusseault.comE-mail me: email@example.comFollow me on social media;Instagram: @coachdusseaultTwitter: @coachdusseaultFacebook: Coach Dusseault - Strength and Conditioning

We can get locked on the need to be needed, to feel important and indispensable… and without even realizing it. How about challenging that mindset? Moving to the notion that you seek to make yourself replaceable. That there can be an even better way of doing things, one that saves you time, energy, and ultimately grows your business even with your absence. Ari Meisel helps entrepreneurs become replaceable so their business can grow without them. In this episode, Ari challenges our conventional way of thinking. That there is always a different way of doing things that work and that you just have to be willing to do and try it. What you will learn from this episode: Learn how to create a documented system and process within the organization that allows for transparency to avoid disruptions Find out the whole methodology of less doing which is about optimization, automation, and outsourcing Find out the tactics you are already using in your personal lives that works just as well in your business to keep on winning every time "The whole methodology of less doing is based on OAO. It's optimize, automate, outsource, in that order." - Ari Meisel Topics Covered: 01:07 - What makes his bio unique, brief, and concise? 01:44 - Get out of your way! 02:47 - Teaching the mindset of a leader that is replaceable 04:47 - Many companies are not doing communication effectively 05:37 - What is an asynchronous communication 07:19 - The sub-areas of communication that one needs to be dealing within the organization 10:05 - How the methodology of less doing works 11:48 - What it means to go automated and what are the basics of automation 12:54 - The value in outsourcing and delegation 14:29 - How to do things better? Get your FREE resource at less.do/facebook 15:05 - Are there any situations where you're not replaceable? 16:41 - One thing he does with his business that proves his idea of a replaceable founder that works Key Takeaways: "The truth is that being irreplaceable makes you stuck. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted, and the entrepreneurs that I work with, have the freedom to leave the business if they so choose, go out, explore, learn, and then contribute those back into the business and the business doesn't crumble in their absence." "A lot of it is a mindset. I don't mean mindset in terms of like, you are important, and you are special. No, it's really just about like the way that we approach the ownership that we have over the work that we do. And ultimately, how much we can empower the people that we work with." "Unfortunately, you have so many people who work in, whether or not they work in an industry that has a history, but it's worse when people are in an industry that has a culture -- generational way of doing things. And then they can't see that there might be another way. It's just we do it because that's how we've always done it." "The majority of communication nowadays should be done asynchronously. So, I say something when I want, whether it's voice, pictures, text, doesn't matter. And you receive it when you want and responding, 'Hi.' Now that could be using WhatsApp or Slack or even email, but truly treating it as an asynchronous means of communication." "And to do that [documenting systems and processes] is not to devalue the person who was holding on to them, it is to release them to be replaced up, not out of business." We think we are pretty good at what we do... We work hard and we continue to produce every opportunity we get... We think of ourselves as good teammates and go out of the way to help maximize the potential of those around us... We surely have made ourselves indispensable... Right??? WRONG. No matter who we are or what we do, when we begin to think we are NOT replaceable, that is the exact time when the ego officially takes over and we begin playing a game we will never be able to win. Playing Major League Baseball was an exhilarating, ego fulfilling experience, but as soon as complacency sets in, the game will bring you to your fucking knees. Baseball, just like so many other industries, has chewed up & spit out the best of the best... Babe Ruth, the most legendary player in the history of baseball, ended his career as a novelty act for the Boston Braves... Willy Mays, the iconic Giants center fielder, finished up limping around the outfield with the New York Mets... Barry Bonds, the greatest player of this generation, despite his ridiculous numbers, was ostracized from the game and simply couldn't get a job, any job. No matter who you are, no matter what you do and how well you think you do it, let this Daily Hustle be a simple reminder... WE ARE ALL REPLACEABLE. That said, check the ego at the door, be grateful for every opportunity that presents itself and continue to focus on all of the things that just so happen to be within our control because one day, it will end and we will all be replaced... Ultimately, our jobs and the work that we do are replaceable, but the people we are, the character we display, the virtues we live by and the influence we have on future generations are not. -EB P.S. Making and Fixing in a World of Cheap Replaceable Objects by Ben Keyes October 9, 2020 Most contemporary people are surrounded by cheaply made, easily replaceable products. In addition to this, many of our lives are so mediated through digital technology that we seldom use our hands to engage the physical world at all. Is the loss of ‘manual competence' really a loss, or is it simply the way of the modern world? The Copyright for all material on the podcast is held by L'Abri Fellowship. Today and always, we stand with the people of America and across the globe against racism and look forward to the change created as a result of these protests in hopes for a better, more equitable tomorrow for all of humanity. #blacklivesmatter We had a chance recently to sit down and watch Louis Theroux's: Altered States - Season 1 and happen to know some people in the #lovewithoutlimits episode and realized there was a theme where he often asked something along the lines of, why isn't one partner good enough for you? And this got us thinking about this concept of "being good enough". Do you feel replaceable? Do you strive to be perfect? Or maybe you struggle with the weight of trying to be someones EVERYTHING. We talk about all of this on today's episode. Please help us help others by hitting that "follow" or "subscribe" button and leaving us a 5 star rating and review on whatever platform you listen on.
