Sunflower peptide as 'template' for potential analgesic Medical University of Vienna (Austria), June 28, 2021 A naturally occurring peptide in sunflower seeds was synthetically optimised and has now been identified as a potential drug for treating abdominal pain or inflammation (in the gastrointestinal tract, abdominal area and/or internal organs). That is the finding of an international study led by Christian Gruber from MedUni Vienna's Institute of Pharmacology (Center for Physiology and Pharmacology), which was conducted jointly with the University of Queensland and Flinders University in Australia and has now been published. The scientific aim of the study is to find analgesics that are only active in the periphery and do not cross the blood-brain barrier, as an alternative to commonly used synthetic opioids. Gruber explains the background: "Morphine was one of the first plant-based medicines and was isolated from the dried latex of poppies more than 200 years ago. It binds to opioid receptors in the brain and is still regarded as the main pillar of pain therapy. However, there is a high risk of opioid addiction, and an overdose - as a result of this strong dependency - inhibits the breathing centre in the brain, which can result in respiratory depression and, in the worst case, in death." For this reason, researchers throughout the world are trying to make analgesics safer and to find active drug molecules that do not have the typical opioid side-effects. Sunflower extracts were to some extent used in traditional medicine for their anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. In the current study, the scientists from Austria and Australia, primarily PhD student Edin Muratspahi?, isolated the plant molecule that may be responsible for this effect. Medicinal chemistry methods were then used to optimise the so-called sunflower trypsin inhibitor-1 (SFTI-1), one of the smallest naturally occurring cyclic peptides, by 'grafting' an endogenous opioid peptide into its scaffold. A total of 19 peptides were chemically synthesized based on the original SFTI-1 blueprint and pharmacologically tested. "One of these variants turned out to be our lead candidate for as potential innovative analgesic molecule, especially for pain in the gastrointestinal tract or in the peripheral organs. This peptide is extremely stable, highly potent and its action is restricted to the body's periphery. Its use is therefore expected to produce fewer of the typical side-effects associated with opioids," point out Gruber and Muratspahi?. The mode-of-action of the peptide is via the so-called kappa opioid receptor; this cellular protein is a drug target for pain relief, but is often associated with mood disorders and depression. The sunflower peptide does not act in the brain, hence there is much less risk of dependency or addiction. Furthermore, it selectively activates only the molecular signalling pathway that influences pain transmission but does not cause the typical opioid side-effects. The data of the animal model in the current study are very promising: the scientists see great potential for using this peptide in the future to develop a safe medication - which could be administered orally in tablet form - to treat pain in the gastrointestinal tract, and this drug could potentially also be used for related painful conditions, e.g. for inflammatory bowel disease. Using Nature's blueprint The research of this MedUni Vienna laboratory led by Christian Gruber exploits the concept of using Nature's blueprint to develop optimised drugs. "We are searching through large databases containing genetic information of plants and animals, decoding new types of peptide molecules and studying their structure, with a view to testing them pharmacologically on enzymes or membrane receptors and ultimately utilizing them in the disease model," explains Gruber. Finally, potential drug candidates are chemically synthesised in a slightly modified form based on the natural blueprint, to obtain optimised pharmacological properties. Study associates organic food intake in childhood with better cognitive development Analysis of multiple prenatal and childhood environmental risk factors suggests that poor nutrition, house crowding and indoor air pollution are associated with poorer cognitive function Barcelona Institute for Global Health (Spain), July 1, 2021 A study analysing the association between a wide variety of prenatal and childhood exposures and neuropsychological development in school-age children has found that organic food intake is associated with better scores on tests of fluid intelligence (ability to solve novel reasoning problems) and working memory (ability of the brain to retain new information while it is needed in the short term). The study, published in Environmental Pollution, was conceived and designed by researchers at the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal)--a centre supported by the "la Caixa" Foundation--and the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute (IISPV-CERCA). The explanation for this association may be that "healthy diets, including organic diets, are richer than fast food diets in nutrients necessary for the brain, such as fatty acids, vitamins and antioxidants, which together may enhance cognitive function in childhood," commented lead author Jordi Júlvez, a researcher at IISPV-CERCA who works closely with ISGlobal. The study also found that fast food intake, house crowding and environmental tobacco smoke during childhood were associated with lower fluid intelligence scores. In addition, exposure to fine particulate matter (PM2.5) indoors was associated with lower working memory scores. The study, titled "Early life multiple exposures and child cognitive function: A multi-centric birth cohort study in six European countries", used data on 1,298 children aged 6-11 years from six European country-specific birth cohorts (United Kingdom, France, Spain, Greece, Lithuania and Norway). The researchers looked at 87 environmental factors the children were exposed to in utero (air pollution, traffic, noise, various chemicals and lifestyle factors) and another 122 factors they were exposed to during childhood. A Pioneering Study The aim of the study was to analyse the influence of these exposures on the development and maturation of the human brain, since during childhood the brain is not yet fully developed for efficient defence against environmental chemicals and is particularly sensitive to toxicity, even at low levels that do not necessarily pose a risk to a healthy mature brain. The originality of the study lies in its use of an exposome approach, i.e. the fact that it takes into account the totality of exposures rather than focusing on a single one. This approach aims to achieve a better understanding of the complexity of multiple environmental exposures and their simultaneous effect on children's neurodevelopment. Another strength of the study, which analyses cohorts from six European countries, is its diversity, although this factor also poses the additional challenge of cultural differences, which can influence exposure levels and cognitive outcomes. Notable Associations The study found that the main determinants of fluid intelligence and working memory in children are organic diet, fast food diet, crowdedness of the family home, indoor air pollution and tobacco smoke. To date, there has been little research on the relationship between type of diet and cognitive function, but fast food intake has been associated with lower academic development success and some studies have also reported positive associations between organic diets and executive function scores. "In our study," explained Júlvez, "we found better scores in fluid intelligence and working memory with higher organic food intake and lower fast food intake." In contrast, exposure to tobacco smoke and indoor PM2.5 during childhood may negatively affect cognitive function by enhancing pro-inflammatory reactions in the brain. Still, according to Júlvez, it is worth bearing in mind that "the number of people living together in a home is often an indicator of the family's economic status, and that contexts of poverty favour less healthy lifestyles, which in turn may affect children's cognitive test scores". Some Surprising Findings The study also found some unexpected associations, which could be explained by confounding and reverse causality. For example, a positive association was found between childhood exposure to perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and cognitive function, even though PFOS is considered an endocrine disruptor that may alter thyroid function and negatively influence cognitive development. The study forms part of the large European project Human Early-Life Exposome (HELIX), as does another recent paper that used the same exposome and the same participants but looked at symptoms of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and childhood behavioural problems. "We observed that several prenatal environmental pollutants (indoor air pollution and tobacco smoke) and lifestyle habits during childhood (diet, sleep and family social capital) were associated with behavioural problems in children," explained Martine Vrijheid, last author of the study and head of ISGlobal's Childhood and Environment programme. "One of the strengths of this study on cognition and the earlier study on behavioural problems is that we systematically analysed a much wider range of exposure biomarkers in blood and urine to determine the internal levels in the model and that we analysed both prenatal and childhood exposure variables," concluded Vrijheid. Extract of mulberry leaves partially restores the composition of intestinal microbiota and strengthens liver glycogen fragility in diabetic rats Macau University of Science and Technology (China), June 28, 2021 According to news reporting out of Macau, People's Republic of China, research stated, “Mulberry leaf as a traditional Chinese medicine is able to treat obesity, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. It is well known that diabetes leads to intestinal microbiota dysbiosis.” Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the Macau University of Science and Technology, “It is also recently discovered that liver glycogen structure is impaired in diabetic animals. Since mulberry leaves are able to improve the diabetic conditions through reducing blood glucose level, it would be interesting to investigate whether they have any positive effects on intestinal microbiota and liver glycogen structure. In this study, we first determined the bioactive components of ethanol extract of mulberry leaves via high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS). Murine animal models were divided into three groups, normal Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats, high-fat diet (HFD) and streptozotocin (STZ) induced type 2 diabetic rats, and HFD/STZ-induced rats administered with ethanol extract of mulberry leaves (200 mg/kg/day). Composition of intestinal microbiota was analyzed via metagenomics by sequencing the V3-V4 region of 16S rDNAs. Liver glycogen structure was characterized through size exclusion chromatography (SEC). Both Student's t-test and Tukey's test were used for statistical analysis. A group of type 2 diabetic rat models were successfully established. Intestinal microbiota analysis showed that ethanol extract of mulberry leaves could partially change intestinal microbiota back to normal conditions. In addition, liver glycogen was restored from fragile state to stable state through administration of ethanol extract of mulberry leaves. This study confirms that the ethanol extract of mulberry leaves (MLE) ameliorates intestinal microbiota dysbiosis and strengthens liver glycogen fragility in diabetic rats.” According to the news editors, the research concluded: “These finding can be helpful in discovering the novel therapeutic targets with the help of further investigations.” Supplemental antioxidants may reduce exacerbations in cystic fibrosis University of Colorado, July 2, 2021 An antioxidant-enriched vitamin may decrease respiratory exacerbations in people with cystic fibrosis(CF), according to new research published online iin the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. In "Effects of an Antioxidant-Enriched Multivitamin in Cystic Fibrosis: Randomized, Controlled, Multicenter Trial," Scott D. Sagel, MD, PhD, a professor of pediatrics at Children's Hospital Colorado and director of the University of Colorado Cystic Fibrosis Center, and coauthors report a 50 percent reduced risk of time to the first exacerbation requiring antibiotics in those receiving the supplemental antioxidants. During the 16-week study of 73 patients (36 received supplemental antioxidants), 53 percent of the antioxidant-treated group experienced 28 exacerbations, compared to 68 percent of the control group who experienced 39 exacerbations. The researchers also found that supplemental antioxidants increased circulating antioxidant concentrations of beta-carotene, coenzyme Q10, gamma-tocopherol (a form of vitamin E) and lutein and transiently decreased inflammation (at 4 weeks, but not 16 weeks) as measured by two blood-based biomarkers of inflammation, calprotectin and myeloperoxidase (MPO). People with CF typically experience chronic bacterial infections, which lead to inflammation and the release of "vast amounts of reactive oxygen species in the airways," the authors wrote. Normally, they added, the body would marshal an antioxidant defense to neutralize this oxidant stress, but CF is characterized by dietary antioxidant deficiencies. This contributes to an oxidant-antioxidant imbalance and more inflammation, which leads to lung damage and a progressive loss of lung function. "Improving antioxidant status in CF is an important clinical goal and may have a positive effect on health," Dr. Sagel said. "Oral antioxidant formulations had been tested in CF with mixed results. However, there had not been a well-designed randomized controlled trial of an antioxidant 'cocktail' that included multiple antioxidants in a single formulation." This phase 2 trial, conducted at 15 CF centers affiliated with the CF Foundation Therapeutics Development Network, enrolled patients who were 10 years and older (average age 22 years), with pancreatic insufficiency, which causes malabsorption of antioxidants. Participants had an FEV1, the measure of how much air can be forcefully exhaled in one second, between 40 and 100 percent of what would be predicted, based on age, gender, height and a range of other characteristics. Patients in the control group received a multivitamin without antioxidant enrichment. The two groups tolerated their vitamins equally well, and there were no differences in adverse events between the two groups. The study did not meet its primary endpoint: change in sputum MPO concentration over 16 weeks. The authors chose sputum MPO "rather than another marker of airway inflammation such as neutrophil elastase because MPO generates reactive oxidant species as part of its function in innate host defense mechanisms, and is considered by many a marker of oxidative stress." "While the antioxidant supplement did not appear to exert sustained anti-inflammatory effects, we believe its effect on time to first pulmonary exacerbation was significant and clinically meaningful," Dr. Sagel said, adding that the improvement in antioxidant status alone may justify its use. "Developing safe and effective anti-inflammatory treatments remains a key priority of the CF community." Maternal diets rich in Omega-3 fatty acids may protect offspring from breast cancer Marshall University School of Medicine, June 28, 2021 According to researchers at Marshall University, a maternal diet rich in Omega-3 fatty acids protects from breast cancer development in offspring. In a new studyrecently published by Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, researchers noted a significant difference in mice from mothers that were fed a diet rich in canola oil, compared with mothers fed a diet rich in corn oil. A maternal Omega 3-rich diet affected genome-wide epigenetic landscape changes in offspring and potentially modulated gene expression patterns. Dr. Ata Abbas, a former postdoctoral research fellow in Marshall's Department of Biological Sciences, headed a research team under the leadership of Dr. Philippe Georgel in the College of Science. Research was done in the Cell Differentiation and Development Center at Marshall as part of a collaborative effort with the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine's Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology, under the leadership of Dr. W. Elaine Hardman. Researchers noticed a three-week delay in mortality in mice whose mothers were fed canola oil versus corn oil. The early delay in mortality was significantly different, but the ultimate overall survival rate was not. Eventually, all the mice developed tumors, but the ones fed canola oil had tumors that were slower-growing and smaller than the mice fed corn oil. Translated to human time scale, the duration of the protective effect linked to the maternal diet would be equivalent to several months (Sengupta et al., 2016). This study is among a body of work done by Marshall University scientists and others looking at the link between Omega-3 fatty acids and reduced incidence of various types of cancer including, but not restricted to, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma. "The issue of parental diet and inter-generational transmission has become an important field of research; however, the mode of action often remains partially elusive," said Georgel, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Marshall. "The MU research group focused on 'epigenetic' aspects of trans-generational transmission to explain the reported role of Omega-3 fatty acids. Epigenetics involves changes in gene expression which are not linked to changes in genetic sequences. These results have the potential to promote the design of simple changes in diet which would allow for reduced onset of various types of cancer, not only for the individuals using that diet but also for their offspring." Compounds found in green tea and wine may block formation of toxic metabolites Tel Aviv University (Israel), July 2, 2021 A new Tel Aviv University study suggests there is hope of treating certain inborn congenital metabolic diseases -- a hope found in green tea and in red wine. Most people with inherited metabolic disorders are born with a defective gene that results in a critical enzyme deficiency. In the absence of a cure, many patients with inborn congenital metabolic disorders must adhere to a strict and demanding diet their entire lives. This new research finds that certain compounds found naturally in green tea and red wine may block the formation of toxic metabolites. The research was led by Prof. Ehud Gazit of TAU's Faculty of Life Sciences and his doctoral student Shira Shaham-Niv. It was published in the Nature group journal Communications Chemistry. The researchers considered two compounds: (1) epigallocatechin gallate, known as EGCG, found naturally in green tea, which has attracted attention within the medical community for its potential health benefits; and (2) tannic acid, found in red wine, which is known to prevent the formation of toxic amyloid structures that cause neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. "In the case of inborn congenital metabolic diseases, the body does not produce a vital metabolic enzyme," Shaham-Niv said. "As a result, metabolites -- substances that are, among other things, the building blocks of DNA and proteins -- accumulate in the body. Such uncontrolled accumulation is toxic and can cause severe developmental and mental disorders. "Our new study demonstrates once again the ability of nature to produce the best candidate of drugs to treat some of the worst human maladies." Collectively, this group of disorders constitutes a significant portion of pediatric genetic diseases. The disease phenylketonuria (PKU), which produces the aggregation of the metabolite phenylalanine, is one common inborn metabolic disease. Infants with PKU must adhere to a strict diet free of phenylalanine for the rest of their lives. If they don't, they may face severe debilitating developmental problems. "But this is an incredibly difficult task, since phenylalanine is found in most of the food products that we consume," Shaham-Niv said. "The avoidance of certain substances is the only way to prevent the debilitating long-term effects of inborn congenital metabolic disorders. We hope that our new approach will facilitate the development of new drugs to treat these disorders." The new research is based on two previous studies conducted at Prof. Gazit's TAU laboratory. In the first study, phenylalanine was shown to be capable of self-assembly and of forming amyloid structures like those seen in Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases. In the second study, by Shaham-Niv, other metabolites that accumulate in other inborn congenital metabolic diseases were also shown to undergo self-assembly processes and form toxic amyloid aggregates. "Both studies led to an overhaul in the research community's understanding of metabolic diseases," Shaham-Niv said. "In our new study, we examined whether the molecules identified in past studies on Alzheimer's disease and other amyloid diseases, which are known to inhibit the formation of amyloid aggregates, could also help counteract the amyloid formation process of metabolites in metabolic diseases." The new research focused on EGCG and tannic acid using test tubes and culture cell systems. The two substances were tested on three metabolites related to three innate metabolic diseases: adenine, cumulative tyrosine and phenylalanine. The results were promising. Both tannic acid and EGCG were effective in blocking the formation of toxic amyloid structures. The researchers also used computer simulations to verify the mechanism driving the compounds. "We are entering a new era of understanding the role and the importance of metabolites in various diseases, including metabolic diseases, neurodegenerative diseases and even cancer," Shaham-Niv concluded. "The tools we have developed are ground-breaking and have tremendous potential to help a wide range of patients in the future." People with fibromyalgia are substituting CBD for opioids to manage pain University of Michigan, June 24, 2021 Fibromyalgia is one of many chronic pain conditions that remains stubbornly difficult to treat. As the ravages of the opioid epidemic lead many to avoid these powerful painkillers, a significant number of people with fibromyalgia are finding an effective replacement in CBD-containing products, finds a new Michigan Medicine study. CBD, short for cannabidiol, is the second most common cannabinoid in the cannabis plant, and has been marketed for everything from mood stabilization to pain relief, without the intoxicating effects produced by the most common cannabinoid, THC. THC, which stands for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, is the ingredient in marijuana that causes people to feel high. The cannabis industry has exploded, aided by the legalization of medical and recreational marijuana in states around the United States and the removal of hemp-derived CBD from Schedule 1 status--reserved for drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse--at the federal level. Previous research shows that some people substitute medical cannabis (often with high concentrations of THC) for opioids and other pain medications, reporting that cannabis provides better pain relief and fewer side effects. However, there is far less data on CBD use. "CBD is less harmful than THC, as it is non-intoxicating and has less potential for abuse," said Kevin Boehnke, Ph.D., a research investigator in the Department of Anesthesiology and the Chronic Pain and Fatigue Research Center. "If people can find the same relief without THC's side effects, CBD may represent a useful as a harm reduction strategy." Boehnke and his team surveyed people with fibromyalgia about their use of CBD for treatment of chronic pain. "Fibromyalgia is not easy to treat, often involving several medications with significant side effects and modest benefits," Boehnke explained. "Further, many alternative therapies, like acupuncture and massage, are not covered by insurance." For this study, the team focused on 878 people with fibromyalgia who said they used CBD to get more insight into how they used CBD products. The U-M team found that more than 70% of people with fibromyalgia who used CBD substituted CBD for opioids or other pain medications. Of these participants, many reported that they either decreased use or stopped taking opioids and other pain medications as a result. "I was not expecting that level of substitution," said Boehnke, noting that the rate is quite similar to the substitution rate reported in the medical cannabis literature. People who said they used CBD products that also contained THC had higher odds of substitution and reported greater symptom relief. Yet the finding that products containing only CBD also provided pain relief and were substituted for pain medications is promising and merits future study, noted Boehnke. The team noted that much of the widespread use of CBD is occurring without physician guidance and in the absence of relevant clinical trials. "Even with that lack of evidence, people are using CBD, substituting it for medication and doing so saying it's less harmful and more effective," he said. Boehnke stressed the need for more controlled research into how CBD may provide these benefits, as well as whether these benefits may be due to the placebo effect. Clinically, opening up lines of discussion around CBD use for chronic pain is imperative, said Boehnke, for medication safety reasons as well as for "enhancing the therapeutic alliance and improving patient care."

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Thursday 27th May. It’s Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they’ve built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It’s a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. U.S. STEPS CLOSER TO NEW $12,500 EV TAX CREDIT"The US Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday approved a bill to increase the tax credit for electric vehicles assembled by union workers in the US up to $12,500. This would apply to electric vehicles up to a price of $80,000." reports Chris Randall at Electrive: "The new law would remove this existing cap, but a different, future limit is included in the proposal: For example, the tax credit would be phased out over a three-year period once 50 per cent of car sales in the US are electric cars. Now for the proposed increase in the credit up to $12,500: The proponents of the bill, led by Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan, propose to increase the $7,500 tax credit by $2,500 for vehicles assembled in the US and by another $2,500 for vehicles manufactured in plants whose employees are members of or represented by a union." Yahoo! News points out: “That would mean smaller credits to automakers such as Tesla, Volkswagen and others who do not have U.S. union workers, and companies building EVs outside the United States. The EV incentives are estimated to cost $31.6 billion through 2031, according to a congressional estimate. The bill must still be approved by the full Senate and U.S. House of Representatives. The bill also includes a 30% tax credit for manufacturers to retool or build new facilities to produce advanced energy technologies including batteries and new incentives to purchase commercial electric vehicles." https://www.electrive.com/2021/05/27/us-senate-approves-increase-of-ev-tax-credit/ https://news.yahoo.com/u-senate-panel-advances-ev-025709643.html RIVIAN DELAYS DELIVERIES OF THE R1T LAUNCH EDITION BY ONE MONTH"Rivian said that deliveries of the R1T Launch Edition, the limited edition release of its first series of “electric adventure vehicles,” will be delayed by a month, according to an update on its website." reports Tech Crunch: "Customers who preordered can now expect to start receiving their pickup trucks in July instead of June, with Launch Edition deliveries to be completed by Spring 2022. The change was first spotted by the Rivian Forum. The one-month delay was due to a combination of small issues, including delays on shipping containers, the ongoing chip shortage as well as ensuring the servicing piece is properly set up, a Rivian spokesperson said." https://techcrunch.com/2021/05/27/rivian-delays-deliveries-of-the-r1t-launch-edition-by-one-month/ FORMER WAYMO FINANCE CHIEF DWYER JOINS EV STARTUP RIVIAN"Rivian Automotive Inc., the electric-vehicle startup backed by Amazon.com Inc., has hired a former finance chief from Alphabet Inc.’s self-driving arm Waymo LLC. Google worked with Jaguar Land Rover on the first all-electric Street View car that will be tasked with measuring air quality in Dublin, Ireland." says 9to5Mac: "A Jaguar I-Pace is being used for this effort, and it will see a roof mounting for the tall Street View camera, as well as a new rear-window glass for wiring and redesigned interior switchgear for sensor controls. The visual system was last updated in 2017 to provide higher-resolution images while being less bulky. The vehicle will also be equipped with Aclima mobile air sensors that record nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, as well as fine particles (PM2.5). Meanwhile, Google is partnering with the Dublin City Council on the Environmental Insights Explorer tool that provides local data on air quality." https://9to5google.com/2021/05/25/electric-google-street-view-car/ FIRST RIDE IN THE ELECTRIC LUCID AIR SEDAN "The ride was comfortable, and while the Air makes the low-speed pedestrian noises all EVs are required to make, nothing is piped into the cabin. That means riding in an Air is a mostly calm and serene experience, at least until the driver floors the throttle. After my first encounter back in 2017, I was impressed with how well-built the Air was. Despite being an alpha prototype, everything I poked or prodded worked, including the three screens and their UI. But the car I rode in this past weekend felt like a huge step beyond that earlier experience in every regard." writes ArsTechnica: "Lucid is currently building a batch of 70 preproduction cars, with another run of 100 that, among other things, will be used for PR and marketing. And I can't tell you how curious I am to drive one of them." https://arstechnica.com/cars/2021/05/we-got-our-first-ride-in-the-electric-lucid-air-sedan/ HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 SUBSCRIPTION WILL LET EV INTENDERS TRY BEFORE THEY BUY"Although Hyundai hasn’t yet announced a base price or price range for the 2022 Ioniq 5 electric vehicle, it’s already suggested that a new subscription plan will be one of the ways you can get behind the wheel of this very intriguing EV. Hyundai Motor America on Monday said that in their research they found that what it terms “mobility pioneers”—people more eager to try electric vehicles—were used to using subscription services in many parts of their life." according to Green Car Reports: "This is Hyundai’s second try offering an electric car under a subscription plan. In 2017 and 2018 it offered the Ioniq Electric with an “Ioniq Unlimited” program—focused toward cost-conscious Millennials—that folded charging costs, scheduled maintenance, and even replacement costs of wear items into a single monthly payment. Although Hyundai won’t detail the program until later in the year, there are already two key differences. This time, it’s intended for intervals as short as one to three months, and it’s aimed at a more affluent crowd—just those who want to try before they buy." https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1132386_hyundai-ioniq-5-subscription-will-let-ev-intenders-try-before-they-buy TESLA LOSES U.S. DESIGNATION FOR SOME ADVANCED SAFETY FEATURES"Newer Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles will no longer be labeled as having some advanced safety features after the automaker said it was removing radar sensors to transition to a camera-based Autopilot system, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said Wednesday." reports Automotive NEws: "The U.S. agency confirmed it updated its website to show that Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles produced on or after April 27 "do not have NHTSA's check mark for recommended safety technologies: forward collision warning, lane departure warning, crash imminent braking and dynamic brake support."
If you appreciate great politicians, you have to admire the brilliance of Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas. At just 36, he has his sights set on the Senate and of course, the White House. He's so good he can defund the police in secrecy in just two hours with a Council vote and then turn around and go on Fox News and convince some Republicans he didn't defund the police and he stands for local and smaller government. Some people are mad, but most people just buy what he's selling. Patrick Mahomes wants a chip in the ball to decide touchdowns when it crosses the goal line. Did you know there is already a chip on the ball? We tell you why it's in there and discuss if PM2's goal line idea is a good one. The Royals and Tigers are both on winning streaks as a three game set begins at the K. The Royals are doing it with a a better bullpen, the Tigers got a no hitter this week. And Adelberto Mondesi is close to returning... what are we waiting for? And Dodgers lefty Clayton Kershaw says 6 no hitters so far this year is bad for baseball and makes a great case why.

Vidcast: https://youtu.be/PlrPYrQW38M Rising concentrations of particulate pollutants in the air is directly associated with a rise in CoVid infections. Researchers in Hong Kong, Britain, and Israel draw this conclusion after analyzing data from 18 Chinese provincial capital cities including Wuhan. Pooling data from all studied cities, there was a significant trend between concentration of 2.5 micron particulate matter in the air, known as PM2.5, and the rate of change in CoVid infections. Looking only at the numbers from Wuhan, the epicenter of the Chinese CoVid epidemic, the effect of air pollution on CoVid infection rates was even more dramatic. This study suggests that air pollution as well as population density is driving CoVid spread. https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.05.19.20106484v3.full.pdf+html #CoVid #pandemic #pollution #china

Altruistic/Altruism-Is the principle and moral practise of concern for the happiness of other human beings, resulting in a quality of life. Growing up in Brooklyn, we called ourselves Brooklynites. The good people of the proud borough are always looking out for our neighbours and individuals in our community. Here in NY, we are tough and resilient and more importantly, humbled to lend a helping hand in a time of need. So rightfully so we named our foundation "Altrunite". Our mission, like our masks, is a symbol of the unselfish act to protect others. Some may not know that wearing a mask is not necessary to protect themselves, but rather others around them if in case they are with, or without knowledge get infected with this terrible virus. We want to take a stand to stop the spread of Covid-19 by teaming up with sports fans along with sports personalities within our great state of NY and its surrounding areas to promote and distribute quality handmade masks. We are not looking for profits, only protection and assistance to others. Together, fans, along with former and current sports players and staff can make a positive impact to save lives within our industry and beyond. Our Face Masks for Fans project began at the start of the Corona Virus pandemic in early March 2020. When masks were an absolute necessity, but products were scarce, we teamed up with professional seamstresses working at mom-and-pop tailor shops in Brooklyn, NY. We decided to utilize our own New York Rangers t-shirts directly from our own closet collections and cultivate a mask that can both complement a purpose of protection and fashion. We displayed our masks on a wide variety of social media platforms, selling them to fans and investing all our profits into more materials, and purchasing more shirts online. When demands for our masks began to exceed the number of shirts at hand, we reached out to our group members and fellow NYR fans online. What transpired next would be a true statement that hockey fans are simply the greatest. To date over 1,200 shirts and jerseys donated to us to continue our cause; allowing us to further expand our mission, as well as donating masks to essential employees, frontline workers, and first responders. Every shirt and jersey are washed, sanitized, and ironed. Every mask is double-layered, and then a third thin layer is added for a filter pocket. We include a 5-layer PM2.5 activated charcoal filter, which further provides a level of protection. Unlike disposable masks, which at times can be more harmful than beneficial (if worn for a longer period of time) the beauty of our product is that it is made from actual shirts and jerseys, therefore it is 100 per cent washable and reusable. We DO NOT heat-press, or screen print any logos or names. We simply repurpose a fan's once owned shirt/jersey and make it into a mask. We cut, sew, and stitch ONLY. The mask is easy to breathe in and is currently up for a redesign for individuals that wear our mask for hours at a time. Also, we now provide a complimentary pouch for placement of the mask to carry, leave in the car or at home. This will prevent excess dust, debris, or dirt on the mask, and avoid possible misplace and/or loss. While we continue to promote and educate the benefits of wearing a mask in public, this is only one of our current initiatives. We are a non-profit organization. A family of fans charity. For the moment, we are a team of driven and dedicated NYR die-hards in action to striving for a positive cause. Will an AirScore become as powerful a deciding factor on whether occupiers take space as rents and lease terms? It is certainly a question that is worth debating, according to AirRated chief executive Francesca Brady and AshbyCapital property director Tom Smithers. AshbyCapital’s The Future Works development in Slough, Berkshire, has just become the UK’s first property to receive a platinum rating from AirRated for its indoor air quality. According to AirRated’s assessment, the 100,000 sq ft building has exceptionally low levels of PM2.5, with levels will below those set by the World Health Organisation. But why does indoor air quality matter? And why are more and more developers looking to get a certification for their buildings? In this episode of the EG Property podcast, Brady and Smithers – with host, EG editor Samantha McClary – discuss what role air quality has to play in the campaign to bring people back to the office, what value it offers to potential occupiers and investors and why it is being asked about in real estate discussions more and more every day.

I am a lung doctor who cares for patients in the clinic and ICU when they are sickened from diseases caused or worsened by air pollution. However, air pollution is actually even more damaging to the heart and blood vessels of the body, as my podcast guest Dr. Thomas Muenzel today knows too well. He is a heart doctor who can help intervene to open up arteries on patients who are suffering from blockages that cause heart attacks and other damage. For both of us, having a patient come to need our intervention already indicates that person is very sick, and we would both like to prevent them getting that ill in the first place. Dr. Muenzel has studied how air pollution actually damages the blood vessels in our body and around our heart. COVID19 has been consuming communities around the world, and is currently raging out of control in the United States at the time of this post. Dr. Muenzel and his group have worked to define how many of the deaths from COVID19 may be related to its interaction with air pollution. On the podcast today, we talk about the impact of air pollution on the heart and blood vessels as well as its interaction with COVID19. What to Do: 1- Follow public health guidance on decreasing COVID19 pandemic so we can get through this sooner. 2- Pay attention to the absolute PM2.5 level where you live and AQI to help determine when it is safe to exercise. 3- Do your part to decrease air pollution in your own life and encourage your community and country to do the same. 4- Consider a donation to the American Lung Association or spreading the word about the importance of healthy air by wearing an Air Health Our Health T-shirt or using a mug or tote (proceeds also go to supporting healthy air). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Visit episode post for more information, or go to airhealthourhealth.org. In our constant belief that we are at war with nature and all of the germs, we are killing ourselves ever faster and it is ludicrous and sad because we have twenty, thirty years of data on the microbiome to know that it's the microbiome that prevents cancer, autoimmune disease, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and infertility; it's all the microbiome. Yet somehow, from this ridiculous fear story, suddenly the whole world including scientists are okay with killing every organism on earth. COVID19 is just a very sad, low-vibration event. - Dr. Zach Bush More than ever, a voice like Dr. Zach Bush needs to be heard and because this has been our most popular episode this year, we are doing a special release of it today. How Mother Nature has designed herself so that when there is an extreme event, she responds with more life and biodiversity. Exploring what the virus really is and other past coronaviruses. How big data housing sites like Amazon are now able to know when a woman is pregnant even before she knows. Big data knows you’re pregnant (and that’s not all) How humanity is having a quickening as we enter this global shutdown due to the coronavirus. Why we needed this pause as we're in this metaphorical 'womb' even if it is not gentle on us. Ramifications from debt, substance abuse, to home abuse that have increased during the lockdown of the country. How human behavior has become a virus to Mother Earth and COVID19 is allowing her to heal. Why coronaviruses aren't anything new; we've seen them before for hundreds of years. [16:00] Why COVID19 Actually Isn't A Respiratory Virus Looking at the stats of COVID19 and the fact that patients do not have a fever, do not have a low white blood cell count and do not have any change in their respiratory rate to conclude that COVID19 is a respiratory virus. What COVID19 actually is: a toxin poisoning to the red blood cell to a small percentage of people around the world in the cities with the highest rates of air pollution. Similarities between COVID19 symptoms and someone who has had cyanide poisoning; not pneumonia. (19:00) The importance of medical staff realizing that this is not some mysterious virus they should be afraid of as variants of it have already been introduced to humans in the past. How pharmaceuticals create an imbalance and put people at risk for cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, and diabetes during this "COVID19 pandemic." (24:00) The two drugs that the AMA demands be used to treat those three diseases above: ACE Inhibitors and Statin plus the fact that ACE Inhibitors cause the main COVID19 symptom, a cough, as it sensitizes the lung. Unpacking how exactly pharmaceuticals make people more susceptible to illness as the COVID19 virus is attached to other toxic particles in the air. [25:00] How Spraying Insecticide Has Increased COVID19's Impact How our mortality significantly went up this year due to the toxicity of the planet with all of the pollution and chemicals dumped into the environment. Why spraying insecticide and toxic chemicals all over and into the air to try to sterilize the environment has increased COVID19's impact on humans. The importance of understanding that we are killing ourselves faster by harming the environment because our natural microbiome is what prevents disease and disorders. How to get out of the way of nature and just be in harmony with it for her health and our own as she continues to serve us. The importance of understanding the second law of thermodynamics: the total entropy of an isolated system can never decrease over time, and is constant if and only if all processes are reversible. (27:00) How the second law of thermodynamics applies to depression, disease, spirituality, business, economics, politics, and more. The fact that viruses are all around us: in our land, air, and ocean plus why they are not our enemies and we would be long gone thousands of years ago if they were. (30:00) The immense economic shift as the biggest consolidation of wealth (in just a couple of hands) in human history takes advantage of the COVID19 hype and fear. Price-Pottenger The Weston A. Price Foundation 321 Sally Fallon Morell & Hilda Labrada Gore [31:00] Use of Hydroxychloroquine And Cyanide Poisoning Kits Against COVID19 Unpacking the fact that Wuhan has the most damaged ecosystem on the planet with all of the glyphosate being sprayed and has the biggest production of chemical raised pork thus this toxic stew of their microbiome is sending out an important genomic update to the rest of the world. Similarities between SARS and COVID19 symptoms including the approach to stopping them. What a hypoxic injury is as cyanide and other toxins enter red blood cells thus making the use of a respirator useless. (33:00) Unpacking why COVID19 patients are not dying from a lack of respiratory capacity, lack of oxygen in the atmosphere, or lack of oxygen in the respirator machine but from their lack of oxygen-carrying capacity. The importance of treating a COVID19 patient's hemoglobin; not the respiratory system because this is about healing a blood toxin; not a respiratory virus. How hydroxychloroquine changes the shape of the red blood cell and could actually be one of the very few medicines to increase the body's capacity to carry oxygen. The powerful impact that could happen to treat COVID19 in minutes when we use a simple cyanide poisoning kit that every hospital has vs having patients weeks on a respirator that might not even help them. (35:00) [41:00] The Man-Made Environmental Devastation Created On Farms How Mother Earth is doing throughout all of this as she tries to breathe through her soils and oceans. The devastation that our planet has gone through including the impact of Roundup being sprayed everywhere. Soil Health Academy Dr. Allen Williams This is Your Brain on "Food Chemistry" How overplowing a field kills the mycelia or life beneath the topsoil thus causing it to lose important nutrients. Why we'll continue to see more coronaviruses impacting humanity as our air quality continues to suffer from CO2, methane, PM2.5, and other greenhouse gases. (47:50) The fact that PM2.5 is the least of our concerns if we realize that the oceans continue to take more and more CO2 and acidify which would wipe out 85% to 97% of life on earth. How we've gotten to the point of being in the midst of the planet's 6th extinction as we've already wiped out 50% of our biology and accelerating. Patrick Gentempo The deep spiritual conversation he was gifted to have with Patrick Gentempo. Unpacking Patrick Gentempo's message: Humanity is dying largely because we keep thinking that the fabric of life is love; the fabric of the universe we live in is beauty. Love is not a thing, action, or result; love is the experience of witnessing beauty. Why we can't manifest love; all we can do is see the beauty and react to that. Through that, we will be a vessel of love. Explaining why you don't lack self-love; you just haven't given yourself the breath and time to find your own beauty. Jenn Perell Bush M21 Wellness Guide Wellness Force Community Power Quotes From The Show How To Improve A COVID19 Patient's Oxygen-Carrying Capacity "It turns out that the main thing hydroxychloroquine does is change the shape of the red blood cell. Malaria is a parasite that attacks the red blood cell and so hydroxychloroquine, as it turns out, is one of the few medications someone could reach for to help improve the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. Now there's a much more efficient approach called a cyanide poisoning kit that takes just three quick injections to change the shape of the hemoglobin into methemoglobin and it does fine. We can treat a COVID19 patient with a simple cyanide poisoning kit that every hospital has in a matter of minutes rather than weeks on a respirator where the patient is dying from pneumonia." - Dr. Zach Bush Becoming A Vessel Of Love "We don't have to manifest love; in fact, we cannot manifest love. All we can do is see beauty and react to that. Through that, we will be a vessel of love and we will pour love through ourselves not because we know how to love but because we can recognize beauty. So, for everyone trying to struggle with why you don't have self-love, it's not because you don't love yourself, it's because you just haven't given yourself the breath and the time to find your own beauty. So, find that beauty, dig in, and you're going to be able to love like you've never known before." - Dr. Zach Bush The Toxicity Of Our Chemical Fears, Response, & Behavior "We're seeing a lot of people dying from heart disease, cancer, and autoimmune conditions right now. Our mortality went up this year significantly because of the toxicity of the planet. We've never dumped more chemicals than we have in the last year and I don't think it's surprising necessarily that the US is seeing some of the highest mortality right now because as soon as we thought this was a virus killing us, we went and sprayed insecticide and toxic chemicals into the air all over South Korea and China. All of those toxins then went airborne and ended up in cities like Seattle and New York a couple of weeks later. That band of air that is traveling across the globe all the time is carrying the toxicity of our chemical fear and response to a toxin that was developed from our chemical behavior of transportation and energy sectors." - Dr. Zach Bush How Does COVID-19 Actually Impact Us? "Our patients are dying from a lack of oxygen-carrying capacity not a lack of respiratory capacity or lack of oxygen in the atmosphere or lack of oxygen in the respirator machine. They're dying because we're not treating the hemoglobin." - Dr. Zach Bush Links From Today's Show CURED Nutrition ION*Biome 344 Leslie Manookian Dr. Ben Lynch: Dirty Genes & COVID19 Zach Bush, MD On A Pandemic Of Possibility - Rich Roll Joe Rogan's great media revolution, now brought to you by Spotify Farmer's Footprint Intrinsic Health Series M Clinic Leave Wellness Force a review on iTunes Big data knows you’re pregnant (and that’s not all) Price-Pottenger The Weston A. What would happen in terms of our health and wealth if we started only purcashing electric vehicles by the year 2030? Today on the podcast I talk to Will Barrett of the American Lung Association about the new analysis the ALA has commissioned called the Road to Clean Air. We recorded this with sky high levels of PM2.5 outside due to wildfires worsened by climate change, and it was an analysis that gave me some hope on the dual benefits of addressing climate change and decreasing particulate matter. Furthermore, Will is hopeful that we can actually achieve these goals. Listen to the podcast today for a dose of hope, then take action for healthy air in your own life. What Can You Do? 1- Speak up about the health of clean air- you can sign the ALA's petition to your local Governor to focus on healthy air here. Write a letter to the editor of your local paper. Post about the importance of clean air with the #Standupforcleanair. 2- Ask your representatives at all levels of government, including your state legislature to incentivize electric vehicles. Ask your state, town or county to only purchase electric vehicles- frequently a municipality has bulk purchasing power and can invest in infrastructure that makes electrification more possible for individuals and businesses. 3- Donate to the ALA here- show support from the Air Health Our Health community! 4- Are you considering purchasing a new car soon? Choose electric! Or a plug-in hybrid with a decent range if you're not ready to go full electric. Consumer Reports estimates a typical EV owner can save $800-$1000 on fuel costs especially if they charge at home, and lifetime savings of $4,600 on vehicle maintenance, oil changes, etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- See the blog post for more information and references, or go to airhealthourhealth.org. This week's EYE on NPI is a breath of fresh air! How do we know it's fresh? Cause we have a brand new Sensirion SGP40 air quality sensor (https://www.digikey.com/en/product-highlight/s/sensirion/sgp40-d-r4) hooked up and ready to be our digital nose. We loooove Sensirion sensors, and we stock a whole bunch in the Adafruit shop. (https://www.adafruit.com/?q=sensirion&sort=BestMatch) They are renowned for their excellent prices and quality on temperature, humidity and gas sensors, so when we saw this pop up on Digi-Key at https://www.digikey.com/new, we quickly picked up a few pieces to check out. The SGP40 is Sensirion’s digital volatile organic compounds (VOC) sensor designed for easy integration into air treatment devices and air quality monitors. Based on Sensirion’s CMOSens® technology, the SGP40 offers a complete sensor system on a single chip and features a digital I²C interface, a temperature-controlled micro-hotplate, and a humidity-compensated indoor air quality signal. In combination with Sensirion’s powerful VOC algorithm, the sensor signal can be directly used to evaluate indoor air quality for applications such as triggering the gradual fan control of an air treatment device. Both the SGP40 chip and VOC algorithm feature unrivaled robustness in the final application over their lifetimes. Pushing the multi-pixel and multi-hotplate approach to the next level of individual control of each sensing element, the SGP40 enables a drastic reduction in power consumption, making it suitable for battery-driven applications as well. Sensirion’s state-of-the-art production process guarantees high reproducibility and reliability. Gas sensors are really interesting, they are all essentially resistive sensors, where the exposed silicon has a metal oxide layer (MOX) that is susceptible to ambient gasses. There's a heater element that you need to turn on, then wait till the silicon chunk can react with the air. The resistance changes with the amount of organic compounds in the air and you can measure the resistive differences. (https://www.sensirion.com/en/environmental-sensors/gas-sensors/) Now for many gas sensors, you basically get 4 pins: two for the heater, and two for the resistor. You have to power the heater, then use a resistor divider or op-amp to read the resistance and back calculate. There's no built-in calibration available. What we like about the SGPx0 series is that you don't need the power control or analog input. This isn't Sensirion's first gas sensor, we've already stocked the SGP30 for a while, (https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/adafruit-industries-llc/3709/1528-2531-ND/8258468) and there are a few things we really liked about that sensor that are the same on the SGP40. First is a dead-simple I2C interface, you send it some commands, it responds with the normalized resistance data reading. No complex code required, it's trivial to port to any microcontroller. With a humidity sensor on the same microcontroller, you can feed the ambient RH to the SGP40 and it will improve the resistance calculation. Check out the SGP40 at Digi-Key at https://www.digikey.com/short/zwzjqb May we suggest one of the fine SHT3x series? (https://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/sensirion-ag/SHT35-DIS-F2-5KS/1649-1067-6-ND/6212141) A PM2.5 sensor can also be added for a powerful all-in-one environmental-sensing kit (https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=sensirion%20pm2.5) See Sensirion's video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dCCfbYf1PNk

In this episode (46:42) All information is researched but not exhaustive and not reviewed by an outside expert. Although Esteban is a licensed physician, this is NOT medical advice → you should get medical advice specific to your situation and health from your doctor, not from us or this podcast. CLICK HERE to download this outline as a PDF Why Should We Wear Masks? Study came out 3 weeks ago titled “Universal Masking is Urgent in the COVID-19 Pandemic:SEIR and Agent Based Models, Empirical Validation, Policy Recommendations” The authors (who are from Hong Kong, UK, France and Finland) compared countries with high levels of mask-wearing to ones with low levels. Using computer modeling and real-world data, they found masks could reduce transmission. The study concluded that if 80% of the population wore masks, there would be more than a 90% drop in infection rates. Etiquette and Politics Concerning Masks Wearing a mask does not give sick people permission to attend a trial. Allergies and upper respiratory infections can look similar, don’t assume the best case (that you have allergies). Instead, assume you are sick and stay home. Risk tolerance is key, but this is subjective and based on personal risk factors. However, understand that you will likely be unhappy for two different reasons: Either you feel that there are not enough rules in place (and/or too many violations) so that you don’t feel comfortable being there because you fear getting the virus. If so, STAY HOME. Or you feel that there are too many rules in place (and they are unnecessary) so that you don’t feel comfortable being there because people are upset with you for “bending” or breaking the rules. If so, STAY HOME. Sample statement from AKC premium: “If you are concerned about the possibility of exposure to the coronavirus OR if you are unwilling to follow the states rules, it would be best if you did not enter this July trial.” Every personal situation is addressed by that statement. CDC Guidelines Who Should Wear? People older than 2 years of age in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain Who Should Not Wear? Anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. In Esteban’s opinion, these people should not be at agility trials because they are at high risk for complications from coronavirus infection. General Considerations Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face. Comfort is important. Kap 7 masks 82% Polyester/18% elastane Shopping time, you should have a mask for every day of the week, like underwear! Children require a smaller fit. Leave your children at home. Leave guests at home–don’t bring them to agility trials. If it doesn’t fit well, especially around the nose, you will suck in unfiltered air from around your face. Include multiple layers of fabric PM2.5 N95 Activated Carbon Filter Mask Insert (100 for $100) Blocks at least 95% of viruses as small as 0.3 microns Virus even smaller but carried on droplets that are 5-10 microns Thread count of 180 or better for materials like sheets/pillowcases HEPA vacuum bags (hard to breathe) NO A/C BAGS DUE TO FIBERGLASS Be secured with ties or ear loops. Ties are more adjustable than a rubber band behind the ear! Metal to form the nose helps contour the mask to avoid gaps Allow for breathing without restriction. Remove very carefully, don’t touch the mask part, just touch the ties. Be able to be laundered and machine-dried without damage or change to shape. Air dry is okay, leave it in the sun if possible. Hotter is better than colder for washing and drying. Two situations for masks: low risk and high risk. Agility trials will be high risk. Crowded grocery stores are high risk. Walking outdoors alone is low risk. Use your filters and higher quality masks for higher risk situations and opt for comfort and no filters in low risk situations. Special Dog Agility Considerations Your dog’s comfort level with masks Other dogs’ comfort level with masks Difference in your voice Difference in facial expression The American Kennel Club (AKC) is deferring to clubs in that they should “consider recommending that exhibitors wear masks. Exhibitors should be able to run without a mask if they desire. Judges may wear masks at their discretion if not required by the club.” See the document here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn-origin-etr.akc.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/12160607/Agility-Covid-19-Suggested-Best-Practices.pdf CPE Guidelines effective May 11: http://www.k9cpe.com/premiums/covid19letter05112020.pdf Philosophy: As dog sports are very “social”, we are choosing not to use the term“social distancing” rather refer to it as “physical distancing”. MASKS: Masks are to be worn by anyone within the ring (building, walking, running, judging). Masks are up to the individual, club, local, state and government guidelines when not within the ring. Exhibitors who will be wearing masks will need to bring enough masks for the duration of the trial and dispose of single use masks properly. Make sure your dog is ok with people wearing masks. We don’t want a dog becoming fearful due to something they’ve never seen before. From Esteban: We can come together as a community in order to save our sport and rebuild it in the coming years. How pharmaceuticals create an imbalance and put people at risk for cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, and diabetes during this "COVID19 pandemic." How to let go and surrender by stop holding onto everything you believe from the roles you have played to the identities you've taken on. Zach Bush Our Constant War With Nature "In our constant belief that we are at war with nature and all of the germs, we are killing ourselves ever faster and it is ludicrous and sad because we have twenty, thirty years of data on the microbiome to know that it's the microbiome that prevents cancer, autoimmune disease, depression, anxiety, sleep disorders, and infertility; it's all the microbiome. Yet somehow, from this ridiculous fear story, suddenly the whole world including scientists are okay with killing every organism on earth. COVID19 is just a very sad, low-vibration event." - Dr.
