Tech Whisperers: Inside the Playbooks of the Best Digital Leaders
As businesses embrace more digital technology and tools to drive revenue and transform their operations, CEOs are expecting their tech leaders to step up to a new role: transformation leader. This elevation in the organization requires not just a technology leadership mindset but also a business leadership mindset. To make that transition successfully, it takes a true visionary, someone who is dialed in to what the business needs and proactively anticipates and guides innovation rather than waiting around for marching orders. It takes the ability to lead with grace, empathy, and confidence even while under extreme pressure to perform. Rich Gilbert, Aflac's Chief Transformation Officer, is the embodiment of this kind of executive. While Rich's career journey has spanned technology leadership roles at a number of major companies, he's now not only responsible for the digital services organization at Aflac but also its largest P&L. In this episode, recorded at the CIO 100 Symposium & Awards, he draws on his experience to share how to break through glass walls, create business value as a digital executive, and lead through an inspiring vision. Join us as we discuss: How to develop and cast a grand vision and inspire your team to embrace it The importance of iteration and starting from the right place when tackling goals Rich's secret sauce for leading with grace even while under extreme pressure The story behind Aflac's famous mascot, the Aflac Duck More information about Rich and today's topics: LinkedIn Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/richlgilbert/ Company Website: https://www.aflac.com/

Human Sexual Response with Dini Lamot & Windle Davis in conversation with David Eastaugh Casey Cameron formed an all-kazoo band ("Kazoondheit") with her neighbors, among whom were Larry Bangor (aka Larry Soucy), Dini Lamot (brother of Larry and cousin to "Pecky" Lamot), and Windle Davis. The four became fast friends and soon formed an a cappella country-and-western band called Honey Bea and the Meadow Muffins, who played at parties and in the subway. Encouraged, the four decided to start a rock band. Posting ads, the quartet met three musician/composers, drummer Malcolm Travis, guitarist Rich Gilbert, and bass player Rolfe Anderson. These seven became the original lineup of HSR, with Anderson being replaced on bass by Chris Maclachlan in 1980. Bangor was the main lead singer, though Lamot, Davis, and Cameron each sometimes sang lead. They named the band after the groundbreaking, and now classic, Masters and Johnson best-seller.

In fact, some might say that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. The role a smart digital transformation strategy plays in pandemic times and beyond, helping lay the foundation for the future, including building resiliency into organizations in ways it might not have existed before Business architecture and what to consider when setting out to future-proof your business model, and the role that technology plays there, as well as why designing with a “digital first” mindset is more important now than ever before How solutions that serve short term needs — things like automation, case management, and low code app development — can ultimately serve as building blocks for more bigger, more comprehensive solutions down the line. Real world use cases of some exciting technology solutions that are happening right now, as well as a look at how those can be extended in the future. The role that automation plays in building and facilitating resilient, business operations. What is it people really want: a car, with all the costs of ownership and maintenance, or mobility, the service that car actually provides? A circular economy, characterised by a smarter use of materials, energy and information, will prioritise access over ownership of products. These are called product service systems, or sometimes 'performance contracts', and they could mean that customers can ride the wave of constant innovation at a lower cost than outright ownership. In this episode we're joined by three people in this space: Rich Gilbert of the Agency of Design, Natasha Franck, Founder of Eon the 'Netflix for fashion', and Gunnlaugur Erlendsson from Enso Tyres.
