Msgr. Frank Kurzaj, known to many as “Fr. Frank,” visited Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville May 11 — where he once served as the parish priest — to celebrate a Mass to commemorate his birthday and the 50th year of his 75th ordination to the priesthood. On April 19, the Father Leopold Moczygemba Foundation (FLMF) held its annual Gala, and this year the event included a special celebration for Monsignor Frank Kurzaj, “Fr. Frank,” in honor of the 50th anniversary of his presbyteral ordination and his 75th birthday. Rev. Kurzaj is the Chairman Emeritus of the foundation. Father Paul was an American priest who co-founded the Society of the Atonement with Mother Lurana White, and the Christian Unity Octave in The Episcopal Church. He was later received into the Catholic Church and is remembered as an advocate for ecumenism. His case for canonization is being promoted by the Archdiocese of New York. This photo is from a postcard sent from Floresville to Pleasanton in 1906 that I found on eBay. The photo shows the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and rectory. After finding this photo, I was given a copy of a book, Wilson County History, that was compiled and published by Louise Stadler in 1990. Within this book, there was an article on Father Zarb's Garden, together with articles on Father Peter Zarb and Sacred Heart Church in Floresville. The combination of the photo and these historical articles sparked this article. The information that follows is from the Wilson County History book....Article Link

A retired chemist, from a family that had immigrated to the US from Lebanon, she and her older sister shared a home and the LTD convertible as well as a sisterly friendship that was a beautiful bond. Aggie was a nightowl and would volunteer at the church that her family had belonged to for decades, Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Main Street in Covington. on July 2, 1992. 69 year old Aggie Albert went to Sacred Heart with her keys and spent some time cleaning up after a church event. She was excited to participate in the upcoming Fourth of July parade which she always did, decorating her bike to show her pride in her town. When her sister realized she had not returned home from her trip to the church at 9:30PM the night before she was on her way to Sacred Heart when she was stopped by a policeman blocking the street where crime scene tape was strung up to prevent gawkers from seeing Aggie who had been sexually assaulted and strangled to death. WHO would do this to Aggie Albert, the gem of her family, her community and her church? Send us a textIn this episode we journey to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palm Desert to have a conversation with two young Catholics on fire with the faith. Genevieve Knight is a 28 year old cradle Catholic born and raised in Rancho Mirage, CA. Though she came from a Catholic background, it was not until the age of 21, while in her third year of college, she experienced a ‘simple, yet deeply profound' encounter with Christ which changed the trajectory of her spiritual life forever. Genevieve shares her story with This Connected not only as a young adult on fire for the Truth, beauty, and goodness of the Catholic faith, but as one who seeks to be a witness to every person searching for the story God is constantly writing upon his and her heart.Brian Ruberg is a 22-year old adult convert to Catholicism. Born on Rowlett, Texas and raised in La Quinta, California, Brian was brought up as a Non-denominational Protestant Christian but saw little value in his religion despite never abandoning it. After a search for meaning and purpose through various outlets such as philosophy and the straight-edge punk movement, he became involved in the online political scene where he met many like-minded young men, many of whom were Catholic. Already experiencing gradual growth in Christ, he became curious and fascinated with the Church and its reverence and tradition, attending his first mass in Latin. Over the next three years, he began to grow in the faith and fall in love with the sacraments, eventually becoming fully initiated into the Catholic faith on December 21st, 2024.
