We also discuss Scott O'Neil's recent CNN interview and what it could mean for LIV Golf moving forward. With the US Open just around the corner, it's prediction season. We make our picks, discuss potential contenders, and reveal our US Open merchandise shopping list.Elsewhere, Josh ranks his Top 10 golf courses in London, and we revisit the reaction to our recent private golf clubs list that generated plenty of discussion. Finally, we're back on the Costa del Sol, sharing our experiences at Los Naranjos, Chaparral, La Cala Asia, La Quinta, and Rio Real, along with some of the sights, sounds, and atmosphere that make the region one of Europe's most popular golf destinations. If you enjoyed the episode, don't forget to like, subscribe, and leave a review - it really helps the channel grow!

Casus Belli Podcast pertenece a 🏭 Factoría Casus Belli. What happens when you realize education has never really been designed for students? In this episode, Jeff Kubiak and Carla Cummins sit down with Dr. Kelly May-Vollmar, Superintendent of Desert Sands Unified School District in La Quinta, California. With 34 schools and 27,000 students, Dr. May-Vollmar has built a district culture rooted in student voice, community trust, and relentless accessibility. From volunteering as an art teacher in her daughter's first grade classroom to leading a $675 million bond measure, her journey reflects a simple but radical belief: students deserve a seat at the table. Takeaways: Student voice isn't optional—it's the foundation: From superintendent advisory panels to climate surveys with open-ended questions, Desert Sands builds systems that actively solicit and act on student input—because kids know what authentic work looks like and when adults aren't being transparent Trust is built through consistent presence: Attending every PTO and booster meeting, hosting "Coffee with Kelly" events, and sitting in staff lounges during lunch aren't PR tactics—they're how you understand what your community actually needs Eliminate barriers, not just friction: Borrowed from the Savannah Bananas' "fans first" philosophy, the district's "students first" framework has staff asking themselves in real time: "Are we creating a barrier? We can't do that." Alignment isn't top-down—it's everywhere: Board priorities (academic proficiency, future focus, warm and welcoming environments) cascade through every division, every professional development session, and get reported on quarterly with defined metrics About Dr. Kelly May-Vollmar: Kelly May-Vollmar, Ed.D. is the proud Superintendent for Desert Sands Unified School District (DSUSD), serving approximately 27,000 students. Throughout her over 20 years in education Dr. May-Vollmar has held many different roles and served in numerous capacities. Dr. May-Vollmar has served on the CoSN Digital Equity Educator Advisory Panel and is the co-chair of the National Chief Technology Officer Council and the AASA/CoSN Empowered Superintendent's Advisory Committee. She is currently a CoSN Board Member. In 2026 Dr. May-Vollmar was named a Superintendent to Watch by the National School Public Relations Association and in 2025 she was named one of the top 100 Innovators in Education by District Administration. In 2024 Dr. May-Vollmar was honored to receive the DALI Women of Distinction Award and the CalSPRA Superintendent to Watch award. Kelly was also awarded the CA CITE Educational Leader of the Year award in 2019 and the Association of CA School Administrators State Technology Administrator of the year in 2019. She is passionate about bridging the divide that often exists between curriculum and technology departments as well as bridging the digital divide for all students. To this end she is thrilled to have led her district to launch their own LTE Network to address the digital divide and to be awarded the CoSN Digital Equity Award in 2021. Hoy viajamos a La residencia. Kass and Syd are kicking off the 2026 PGA TOUR season with recaps, reactions, and plenty of side comments along the way. With the Sony Open in Hawaii opening the year, the girls break down Chris Gotterup's win, what it says about his rise on TOUR, and why the first event of the season always brings a little chaos. They run through the biggest moments from Hawaii, including Gotterup's emotional post-round interview that somehow turned into a Josh Allen crying comparison…same tears, very different endings. The episode also covers Ryan Gerard staying in the mix, Patrick Rodgers' continued search for his first win, Robert MacIntyre's snapped putter (spicey golfer) and honest self-reflection, plus encouraging signs from Jordan Spieth and Jake Knapp. The highlight of the episode is a candid interview with Hannah VanDerLaan, where the conversation shifts from scorecards to real life. Hannah opens up about love, life on TOUR, and what the 2026 season is shaping up to look like, offering an inside look at the personal side of the game that doesn't always make the broadcast. Looking ahead, Kass and Syd preview The American Express in La Quinta, talking through the three-course setup, the Saturday cut, and why this week tends to deliver something unexpected. They discuss Scottie Scheffler's season debut, Adam Scott making his first appearance at the event, Sepp Straka returning as defending champion, Will Zalatoris' long-awaited return, and the infamous bunker on the 16th hole. New season, new conversations, and plenty of Birdie Little Secrets still to come. Tune in every THURSDAY for new episodes! Will Doctor brings you the sharprest preview and picks for the 2026 American Express. Week 2 rolls in with the TOUR leaving the Pacific behind and launching a five week West Coast stretch, starting in La Quinta for The American Express and its signature three course rotation. The setup is familiar, but the storylines are not. World number one Scottie Scheffler makes his 2026 debut, the rotation brings a mix of pure shootout tracks and one course with enough trouble to matter, and the conditions look tailor made for a low scoring week on poa greens. Before turning the page, we unpack what happened at the Sony Open. Chris Gotterup's win was not just an opening round blitz. Yes the 63 put him in position, but the tournament swung when the course firmed up, the wind got loud, and the grind arrived. We walk through the moment the runaway look stalled, how he managed the damage across the middle holes, and why the short game signs were the real headline. The sand saves, the timely up and downs, and the late Saturday birdie burst created the momentum that showed up again in a calm closing round. We also zoom out to what this result means going forward and why the market is reacting quickly. Then it is on to the desert, where the scoring expectation is extreme and the decision making gets sharper. Two of the courses invite flags and birdie runs, while the Stadium Course asks you to stay disciplined with water and bunkers waiting to punish one loose swing. With the final round on Stadium after the 54 hole cut, the conversation shifts from who can make birdies to who can avoid the one stretch that flips a card upside down. We also dig into what poa surfaces can change for certain profiles, why scrambling still matters even in a birdie fest, and how recent form can mislead if you do not account for course rotation and where players start. The episode closes with a full board walkthrough and a build of the week's betting approach without spoilers, plus quick thoughts on DFS construction, lineup philosophy, and what to watch Thursday and Friday to adjust before the weekend in La Quinta. We talk about how performances like this show that triathletes are not just competent across three disciplines but genuinely world-class athletes. We also ask the big question: should Alex consider focusing on the marathon for LA 2028? From there we head to La Quinta 70.3 where Lionel Sanders made his long-awaited return, Sam Long took the win and Kirsten Kasper impressed in one of her first real attempts at the 70.3 distance. In Bahrain, Vincent Luis delivered another outrageous run that made us question why he thinks he should retire next year, and Georgia Taylor-Brown continued to look better every time she steps up to middle distance. Ironman Western Australia gets some brief but deserved attention, including a strong showing from Lotte Wilms. Then we dig into the T100 Grand Final picture. The men's title looks almost locked up with Hayden Wilde, while the women's race remains wide open with Lucy Charles-Barclay, Kate Waugh and Julie Derron all still in realistic contention heading into Qatar. We also look at the newly announced T100 2026 season schedule and discuss whether we think the series will genuinely follow through on the plan next year. To close out the episode, we give our nominations for the 2025 Podcast Awards. The end of the year is nigh, and it's our holiday romance novel episode! We're talking about a collection of romances that are entirely new to us (except for the one moment where Sarah talks about that old McNaught short story that installed all her cold-weather romance buttons). We've got Austen retellings, Regency cats, characters playing with holiday toys, CIA agents and, of course, some sexy Santas. You deserve nice things. Don't forget--you can buy the Fated Mates Best of 2025 Book Pack from our friends at Pocket Books Shop in Lancaster, PA, and get eight of the books on the list! Scoundrel Take Me Away and Lazarus, Home from War (independently published) are not in the box. As always, you can add additional romances, or one of Sarah's books to your box. If you want other people to discuss holiday (or other) romances, maybe you want to join our Patreon? You get an extra monthly episode from us and access to the incredible readers and brilliant people on the Fated Mates Discord! Support us and learn more at fatedmates.net/patreon. Our next read along will be KJ Charles's The Magpie Lord. Get it at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Apple Books or wherever you get your books.NotesThere are several accounts as to where Irving Berlin wrote White Christmas. Sarah stayed at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel, which claims it inspired the song (by being the opposite of snowy), but there's also an account that he wrote it in La Quinta, CA at the La Quinta Hotel (not to be confused with just any LaQuinta).
