What if the way we trade, recruit, and credential is quietly draining the chances our kids need to build a life? We open with gratitude and prayer, then tackle a hard question about stewardship: how do we protect national capacity without closing the door to healthy exchange? From a proposed tariff on chips used for export to the flood of foreign athletic and academic scholarships, we trace how institutions can unintentionally export value while importing applause. The thesis is simple and challenging—opportunity is a national trust, and standards are an act of love.We push back on the claim that Americans won't do tough jobs and examine how welfare design, training gaps, and licensing choices shape behavior. Trucking becomes a real-world example: a dignified path for veterans wrestling with reintegration and young men seeking stability. The solution isn't scorn; it's rebuilding pathways, setting clear expectations, and aligning incentives so effort is rewarded. When the bar is raised with support, people rise. When it's dropped in the name of compassion, potential collapses under low aims.Faith and history anchor the argument. 1 Corinthians 7 reframes marriage as mutual duty and prayerful unity, showing how private order fuels public strength. Readings from Matthew, the Psalms, and Proverbs call for courage, integrity, and fruit that matches our claims. We remember Medal of Honor recipient Abram B. Brandt, honoring sacrifice that built the freedoms we enjoy. And we revisit Theodore Roosevelt's warning against hyphenated loyalties and Calvin Coolidge's reminder that our civic fabric rests on biblical teaching broadly shared. One flag, one standard, one future: that's the path to a nation where kids, veterans, and families find real work, strong homes, and a shared creed. If this resonated, subscribe, share it with a friend, and leave a review. Streets stained with blood in Iran, an internet blackout, and a regime silencing dissent—these scenes force a harder question: what kind of ideas build liberty, and which ones destroy it? We connect current events to first principles, tracing how beliefs shape cultures, policies, and the everyday freedoms most of us take for granted. We share reports of mass casualties and censorship, then examine the claim that liberty cannot survive without a moral core rooted in something higher than the state. Along the way, we highlight a Brooklyn sermon that calls for fighting U.S. institutions and ask how societies should respond when rhetoric openly rejects the civic order. From there, we step into Scripture: 1 Peter 3 reframes marriage around inner character and mutual honor, while the parable of the vineyard workers humbles pride and reminds us that grace, not seniority, opens the gate to eternal life. A brief Medal of Honor spotlight on Felix Branigan anchors virtue in real sacrifice amid the chaos of the Civil War.We close by revisiting Theodore Roosevelt's sharp warning against hyphenated Americanism. Allegiance, not ancestry, makes a people. That insight feels urgent today, as identity labels multiply and loyalties splinter. The invitation is simple: recover a shared American identity tied to the founding principles of justice, service, and Christ-centered virtue. If we want a nation worthy of our children, we need homes shaped by grace, leaders bounded by humility, and citizens committed to the common good.If this conversation moves you, follow the show, leave a review, and share it with a friend. The Criteria crew continues its series on the films of Terrence Malick, jumping ahead to the experimental documentary Voyage of Time, which was co-produced by the Knights of Columbus! Voyage of Time portrays the history of the cosmos, the Earth, and the living creatures on it from the beginning of the universe to its end. The main point of the film is simply to evoke wonder at creation with its gorgeous photography, sound design and music. The film exists in two versions: a 45-minute version narrated by Brad Pitt (Voyage of Time: The IMAX Experience), and a 90-minute version narrated by Cate Blanchett (Voyage of Time: Life's Journey). James, Thomas, and Nathan Douglas all agree that the long version is generally superior. However, they debate over the content of the narration (which, in both films, is of an existential rather than scientific nature). Thomas contends that the narration in the long version, rather than inspiring the viewer to seek the truth about the meaning of the universe, seems to leave us swimming in a muddled and uninspiring metaphysical soup. James defends the narration as a “phenomenological” portrayal of primitive man's varying interpretations of the cosmos, rather than a set of consistent truth propositions. In this episode of Right to Life Radio, John Gerardi and Linda Teliha kick off the year by reflecting on impactful moments from 2024. Linda shares stories from the sidewalk, including Christmas caroling outside Planned Parenthood and how it became an avenue for new volunteers. They discuss the importance of kindness and advocacy over confrontation, sharing inspiring stories of lives changed through their outreach efforts. Later, John and Jonathan Keller dive into a thought-provoking clip about a “death doula,” physician-assisted suicide, and the societal implications of normalizing death in such ways. The conversation touches on how the pro-life movement can counter these ideas with compassionate care for the dying. The episode wraps with a critical analysis of the abortion pill, its role in rising abortion numbers, and the need for greater awareness and restrictions.

On this episode of “Follow to Lead” we will be talking with Dr. Joseph McInerney about a new eight-part video series he has written, called “The Leadership Virtues Series.” This series can be inspiration to all but can be especially important for administrators, staff, department heads, coaches and teachers in our schools who exercise various expressions of leadership. Produced by the Knights of Columbus, this new series seeks to provide a model and inspiration for Catholic leaders based upon the exemplary leadership of Jesus himself.
On this episode of The Drew Mariani Show, Drew sat down with Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly to talk about the Knights of Columbus' mission to help men grow in faith and virtue: Honestly, it's a pep talk every Catholic guy needs. Be sure to catch the entire hour! Why This Matters Now Drew kicked things off by calling out what we're all seeing: a crisis in fatherhood and male leadership. Men are checking out of their roles at home, in church, and in society, and it's leaving a wake of broken families and lost faith. The Knights of Columbus, however, are stepping into the gap with a game plan to form men into leaders who reflect Christ and St. Joseph. Who Are the Knights of Columbus? Founded in 1882 by Blessed Michael McGivney (he's on the path to sainthood!). -World's largest Catholic fraternal service organization with 2 million members. Built on four pillars: Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism. Known for their insane charitable work: $190 million donated and 47 million volunteer hours logged just last year. Patrick Kelly, the 14th Supreme Knight, laid it out: The Knights' mission is to help men become better husbands, fathers, and citizens while building a culture of faith. The Cor Initiative: Faith Formation for Men Here's the real game-changer: the COR Initiative (Latin for "heart"). It's all about forming small groups of men in parishes for: Prayer Faith formation Fraternity You don't even have to be a Knight to join (but you'll probably want to after). With 3,000 councils already running this program, and thousands more on deck, it's catching fire. Patrick explained: Men need connection. The epidemic of loneliness isn't just hitting the elderly; it's everywhere. Programs like this give men a chance to step away from isolation and into authentic brotherhood. Why Dads Matter Patrick and Drew reminded us: The father's faith life is the #1 factor in whether kids stay Catholic into adulthood. A mom's role is huge, but if Dad's not living his faith, kids notice. There's power in seeing Dad pray, serve, and lead with humility. This initiative equips men with the tools to step into that role. Knights in Action You'll hear about the Knights' jaw-dropping impact: Over 1 million coats donated to kids in need through their Coats for Kids program. Support for persecuted Christians in the Middle East and Nigeria. Defending religious freedom globally and at home. (FYI: They helped add “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance.) The local councils are the secret to success, which empower men at the grassroots level to serve their parishes and communities. How to Join Patrick's invite was simple: If you want a life of meaning, step up and join the Knights. Visit KofC.org/Relevant to find out more. Whether it's faith, service, or authentic friendship you're looking for, the Knights are ready to welcome you. A Final Thought The Knights of Columbus have stood strong for 142 years because they're rooted in Christ and mission focused. As Patrick said, “Men want a life that matters.” The Knights are helping them find it and shaping the future of the Church and the world in the process. If you're a guy looking for purpose, meaning, and the chance to make an impact, the Knights of Columbus are where it's at. Catch more topics on the Knights of Columbus below! Hour 2 Hour 3

While the Grubers have started a marriage ministry, that also serves Catholic singles, Joseph has been moonlighting as one of the pilot-ers of the pilot initiative of the Knights of Columbus, Cor. It's been a very different way to serve men in the community, both from what the Knights have been doing as well as from what Joseph has been doing. You can see some of what he's been up to here: jacksoncor.org.Men's ministries as a whole have been something Joseph has been interested in-- it's been really unclear what they are, who they're for, and what difference they're supposed to make.
