The 2021 Chevrolet Blazer RS resurrects a name that at first feels laden with SUV heritage, but as Benjamin points out isn't all fun and two-door off-roading games. Sami's time behind the Blazer's wheel reveals mixed feelings about why GM didn't go all the way in making the family ride live up to its potential. Benjamin then discusses his week-long try-out of the 2021 Kia Stinger GT as a potential year-round daily driver, and mentions what he still loves about the twin-turbo hatch, and what let him down in the years between his first drive back in 2018 and the current model. The pair wrap things up by pitting the Mustang SVT Cobra 'Terminator' against the 2018+ Mustang PP1 to answer a listener question about which would be the better high performance buy.
This week join Mandy Turner, Kez Casey, and James Wong. We speak to Abbie Eaton, famous for the test driver for season two of Grand Tour, and is now hoping to make it to the Australian Supercars Championship. James and Mandy conduct an exhaust battle with the Kia Stinger Si and the Stinger GT with the bi modal exhaust. Happy Thanksgiving all! In this episode Joe is discussing business growth with Matt and Amber from Amp Shots Media as well as a Kia Owner's thoughts on the new Stinger GT.
The Kia Stinger GT has been aimed squarely at BMW, Audi, and Lexus luxury cars, but does this grand tourer have the performance and poise required to get a seat at that table? Benjamin spends a day with the Stinger GT in L.A. to answer that question. Meanwhile, Sami tests the Honda Fit head-to-head against the Kia Rio hatchback to determine where the best blend of value, practicality, and fun can be found in this hotly-contested, and affordable, segment. Finally, Benjamin feels cynical about the recent Tesla Roadster unveiling, while Sami tries to balance that out with good vibes and the benefit of the doubt about Elon's latest foray into boosting the company's stock price.
Gears and Beers: The Unashamedly Unprofessional Automotive Podcast
We couldn't start this week without first talking about the Tokyo Motor Show. We discuss the Sports EV and Urban EV concepts from Honda, the BRZ STI and briefly the S208 WRX STI, the cool new Volkswagen Up! GTI, and the 10th Anniversary edition of the Lexus RC-F. We briefly talk about the blue Stinger GT we checked out in a Kia dealership after the podcast last week, which neatly transitions into a tangent. We talk about Yokohama reviving their HF type D from the 1980's specifically for older vehicles with smaller wheels which are harder to find tyres for. We then discuss the possibility of the Nissan Titan being converted to RHD and may be sold in Australia. We play the fan favourite 'What About This Car', which suprisingly all agree is a cool car... Which spurs an argument about the Panda car craze. Then Joseph introduces a new topic, which should continue to be a fun one.Like us on
