My guest on today's episode is Achara Tarfa. She is a certified IFS practitioner, co-founder of the Global Trauma Institute, and director of the PATH program. We talk about finding IFS, what trauma coaching offers that therapy often doesn't, and why she and her co-founders built GTI to create the spaces they needed but couldn't find. Takeaways IFS gave Achara language for her own anger for the first time When the people you turn to for help fail you, the harm compounds. Achara experienced this firsthand and it shaped everything she built Trauma coaching isn't replacing therapy. It's reaching people the system has missed Healing isn't just individual. It's about dismantling the systems, cultural, institutional, hierarchical, that created the harm PATH meetings use IFS to address addiction and its underlying trauma together AA teaches you how to survive; PATH teaches you how to live. If you're in protection mode, there's no room to feel. That's not a flaw, it's survival Catch my extended interview with Achara and our Audio Guides meditations over on Substack. Polo GTI, the first-ever electric vehicle to carry the iconic GTI badge — a near-50-year-first — sitting above the standard ID. Polo with a 223hp front-mounted motor, 0–62mph in 6.8 seconds, and a 263-mile WLTP range from its 52 kWh battery. It goes on sale in Germany from autumn 2026, priced from €39,000, competing with the Alpine A290 and Peugeot E-208 GTi, but will not be sold in North America.BMW AND SOLARWATT PUSH V2H PLANSBMW and SOLARWATT are expanding their partnership to bring Vehicle-to-Home bidirectional charging to BMW's Neue Klasse line-up, starting with the iX3 and i3, following Germany's first commercial Vehicle-to-Grid launch in March 2026. The integrated system will use SOLARWATT's energy management platform, the BMW Wallbox Professional, and both brands' apps to coordinate solar, home storage, dynamic tariffs, and EV charging — launching first across Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands.GM CUTS BOLT COSTS WITH BATCH BUILDSGM is achieving its sub-$30,000 target for the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV in part by assembling cars in batches of 30 identical units at its Fairfax plant in Kansas City, rather than building mixed trims in sequence, reducing errors and line stoppages. The approach, part of GM's "Winning with Simplicity" strategy, also includes keeping clone spare bodies on standby, cutting floor space needs, reducing paint booth colour changes, and locking suppliers to a fixed seven-day delivery schedule.UK INSURERS SHUN MANY CHINESE CARSCarwow research found that half of all insurance quote requests for Chinese vehicles were declined outright by UK insurers, with AXA refusing to quote on all four tested models and Hastings Direct covering only one. Beyond availability, Chinese models averaged £901 per year to insure versus £646 for petrol equivalents — a £255 gap — with insurers citing limited repair data, underdeveloped parts supply chains, and a lack of long-term claims history as key reasons.BMW TIES IONNA DISCOUNT TO US CHARGINGBMW has launched a preferred pricing programme with IONNA, giving BMW and MINI EV drivers a 20% discount on public charging sessions across the network's 1,000-plus US bays, running through 30 September 2026. The discount applies automatically via Plug & Charge or the My BMW App, with no subscription or RFID card required, as part of BMW's broader strategy to build out home, workplace, and public charging infrastructure.EPA DELAYS TIER 4 BY TWO YEARSThe EPA has proposed pushing Biden-era Tier 4 light- and medium-duty vehicle emissions standards back two years, from model year 2027 to 2029, framing the move as a "freedom of choice" measure that the agency says will save automakers and consumers over $1.7 billion. The rollback goes much further than a delay, however — the EPA has also repealed the 2009 Endangerment Finding and all vehicle greenhouse gas regulations, dismantling the legal framework for future federal EV mandates.KIA DEBUTS PV5 SIDE-ENTRY WAV IN EUROPEKia unveiled the PV5 WAV Side Entry at the Motability Scheme Live exhibition in Birmingham on 15 May 2026, claiming a segment first with its side-entry wheelchair access that allows kerb-side boarding — an advantage in dense urban areas where rear access is often blocked. Built for taxi operators, shuttle services, and fleet providers, the van features a reinforced floor, integrated wheelchair anchorage, floor lighting for boarding visibility, and a two-step manual ramp suited to varied road conditions.COULTHARD DRIVES FORMULA E GEN4 AT MONACODavid Coulthard drove Formula E's upcoming GEN4 car on the streets of Monte Carlo, describing the experience as unlike anything in his career — a significant claim from a two-time Monaco Grand Prix winner. The GEN4, set to debut in the 2026/27 season, tops 205mph, weighs under 1,000kg, produces over 800bhp, hits 0–100kph in 1.8 seconds, and delivers a 71% power increase over GEN3 Evo in Attack Mode, with all-wheel drive and a redesigned ergonomic cockpit; it will make its first public show appearance at Goodwood Festival of Speed from 9–12 July.RECYCLING LIFTS OLD BATTERIES INTO BETTER CATHODESResearchers at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Argonne National Laboratory have developed a recycling process that upcycles spent lithium iron phosphate and lithium manganese oxide cells into higher-performance lithium manganese iron phosphate cathode material, recovering more than 95% of key elements — rivalling or exceeding most commercial operations. Crucially, the process runs at normal temperature and pressure, requires no energy-intensive equipment, fits existing recycling infrastructure, and produces cathode material with higher energy density than the source materials it came from.

See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Znajdziesz nas na pb.pl, w swojej ulubionej aplikacji podcastowej (m.in. The Unnamed Automotive Podcast returns this week to discuss the hypothetical friendship survey, weird V8 powered FWD cars, engines that powered motorhomes and they even review a few new cars along the way. The first is a look at the 2026 Volkswagen Golf GTI, which Sami was already dismissive of due to its deletion of the manual transmission. However, some spirited drives helped change Sami's mind a bit. Is it enough to recommend it? Listen to find out! Then Benjamin shares his thoughts on the 2026 Genesis GV70, one of the newer faces among the luxury compact SUV segment, but one that is consistently recommended by our hosts. That's for a reason, as Benjamin explains, and the show further discusses who Genesis may be appealing to with all of its offerings. Thanks for listening!
In this episode of the evo India Podcast, we talk about one of the biggest changes in our journey so far — evo India is no longer a traditional magazine. Before you panic, print is not dead. Far from it. In fact, we believe print can be stronger than ever, but only if it evolves. That is exactly what we are doing with the new evo India mag-book format: a more collectible, more immersive, more premium reading experience that goes beyond the limitations of a regular automotive magazine. We explain why we made this shift, what the new format means, why every issue will now be built around a theme, and why our latest issue is all about the icons of the 1980s. From the Audi Quattro, Ferrari Testarossa and Peugeot 205 GTI to Indian legends like the Ambassador, Padmini, Contessa, Standard 2000, Maruti 800, Omni, and more, this is not just nostalgia; it is about understanding where car culture came from, and where it is going next. This is a big, bold move for evo India, and something that has never really been done in the Indian magazine space before. In this podcast, we talk about the thinking behind it, the excitement, the nerves, the reaction from all of you, and why we believe this new format will make print more special than ever.Watch the full episode and tell us what you think of the new evo India mag-book. We'd genuinely love to hear from you.

Despite a lack of payment from OEMs for all of the consulting the fellas have pushed out in these "Saving" brand episodes, the homies sit down and do their best to save VW. Does anyone actually know or care what VW makes today outside of the GTI and Golf R? Let's see what bad ideas the dudes have in mind to bail out this German icon.
Derek brings in a rare French treat to the studio this week - a Peugeot 205 Rallye. Take a 205 GTI, replace the fuel injection with Weber DCOE 45 carburetors, remove weight, and you've got the key components to the Rallye.Jason, naturally, attempts to make the episode about MK1 Volkswagens - in particular, the Rabbit and the Golf GTI. He's always claimed his 16V-swapped MK1 Cabriolet is the most fun car he's ever driven - but can the 205 Rallye dethrone the gold standard?===Visit http://JasonSentMe.com to get a Hagerty Guaranteed Value (TM) collector-car insurance quote! ===...well, yes. Sort of. But first, we have to understand where Peugeot was coming from when they conceived the 205. Derek and Jason discuss the stately and reserved aura of the Peugeot brand before the launch of the 205 in 1983, referencing cars like the 204, 304, 404, 504, and 604. Although the 205 was a modern departure from its stodgy (and abundantly French) past, the base car remained quite frumpy - until the GTI came around, boasting fender flares, rev-happy 1.6 + 1.9L engines, sport-tuned suspension, and a host of other upgrades that made it one of the most iconic hot hatchbacks of the 80s.Jason recalls the time he drove a 205 GTI 1.9 and MK1 Volkswagen Rabbit back-to-back, both owned by Rich Griot of Griot's Garage. Having been thoroughly impressed by the 205 GTI, he dives into his latest drive with the Rallye - in comparison to said GTI, a much more charismatic car wanting to vibrate its nuts and bolts apart all the way up to 7,000 RPM.This naturally triggers the inevitable - what criteria makes a hot hatchback great? Is practicality most important, or can great driving dynamics overshadow the initial intent? Jason and Derek reference other small and fun successes like the Hyundai Veloster N, ND3 Mazda Miata, and Subaru BRZ/Toyota GR86 - and how none of them are quite as special as the 205 Rallye. All this and more, on this week's holiday special of The Carmudgeon Show. These final sessions of the season will give Luke another valuable chance to learn from Alex and Carlos, the wider team, and further embed with our trackside operation as he looks towards a bright future.” Mighty Sunbeam 1000 HP to Make Post-Restoration Debut at 75th Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Harry Segrave beside the Sunbeam 1000 HP. (Photo: Courtesy of the National Motor. Museum) PEBBLE BEACH, CALIFORNIA (November 12, 2025) — The mighty Sunbeam 1000 HP, the first car to achieve a land speed record of 200 mph, has been asleep for over 90 years. But a team of restorers at the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, England, is now in the process of gently waking this giant—and if all goes as planned, the restored beast will make its US debut at the 2026 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance before attempting a centennial run at Daytona the following spring. “The process of restoring a one-off car like this takes real dedication,” noted Concours Chairman Sandra Button. “There is no pattern to be followed. It takes time and research, effort and expertise. We are thrilled to know that the National Motor Museum intends to send the restored car to Pebble Beach, to share with enthusiasts here.” The Sunbeam 1000 HP was built to compete in the race for speed. The 100 mph barrier was first broken in 1904, and then it took more than two decades to reach 150 mph—a record Malcolm Campbell achieved in July of 1925 at the wheel of a Sunbeam 350 HP. The Sunbeam 1000 HP, crafted around two of the marque's powerful 22.4-liter Matabele aero engines placed to the fore and aft of the vehicle, came into being less than two years later and proved to be revolutionary. Driving it on the smooth sands of Daytona Beach on March 29, 1927, Harry Segrave recorded a speed of 203.79 mph. “This car has been at Beaulieu since before I was born and feels like a member of the family, but one I never expected to run again,” said Ralph, Lord Montagu of Beaulieu. “Watching the restoration take place has been fascinating as it has revealed so much I never knew about the car. It will be quite a thrill to have the car at Pebble Beach and is a great opportunity for us to wave the flag for the National Motor Museum!” The car's restoration is now well underway. The rear engine has already been disassembled, re-machined, restored, and refitted into the frame—and it was first fired up before an adoring crowd at the Beaulieu International Autojumble in early September. The museum team is now focused on restoring the front engine. When that, too, is back together and in place, the bodywork, which has already been restored, will be reinstalled. “Over the last three and a half years, the Museum's team have worked tirelessly to make the mighty Sunbeam 1000 HP roar again, with help from a wide range of supporters, stakeholders and heritage engineering specialists,” said Jon Murden, Chief Executive of the National Motor Museum. “Having experienced the first of the car's remarkable engines running once more, we are all now thrilled at the prospect of the Sunbeam returning to the United States for the first time in a century.” John, the second Baron Montagu of Beaulieu, was a motoring pioneer, who campaigned for the rights of early motorists. In the 1950s, his son Edward founded what is now the National Motor Museum to honor him, and that museum shares a long history with the Pebble Beach Concours. Edward first showed a car—his 1913 Alfonso Hispano-Suiza—at Pebble Beach in 1981, and the following year, he donated the Montagu of Beaulieu Trophy, which the Concours presents annually to the best British car shown on its competition field. Ralph, the current Lord Montagu, was in attendance at the Concours this year.

Welcome back to EV News Daily. Today we're taking a look back at an intense week of EV launches and debuts at the IAA Mobility 2025 show in Munich. IAA this year showcased an unprecedented transition toward electrification across all manufacturers, with nearly every debut featuring some form of electric or hybrid propulsion. Chinese manufacturers demonstrated particular strength in battery technology and pricing competitiveness, while established European brands focused on premium features and performance electrification. The show marked a clear inflection point where electric vehicles are no longer niche products but mainstream offerings across all segments and price points. Y me encantó.

#517 Monaco, Indy & The Studio. Zog and Gareth catch up on "the jewel in F1's crown" and "the greatest spectacle in racing", which one was more entertaining? Phase-change materials and car spotting on Apple TV. Plus: Peugeot bring back the GTi.
Did Jeep accidentally build one of the best hot hatches of the last 40 years? It's is smaller than a Mk8 GTI and could be had with a bulletproof 4.0L inline-six and 5-speed transmission. Can it possibly give the quintessential VW hot-hatch a run for its money? We'll talk Jeep XJ Cherokee, its origins, and all 8 generations of GTI – from the 16v 2.0L, to the 8v 2-point-slow, the soulless 1.8T, the venerable VR6, and the electric e-Golf! === This episode is sponsored by Vyper Industrial — America's #1 rated shop chair, tool carts, and creepers, proudly made here in the US. Visit vyperindustrial.com and use code CARMUDGEON for $50 off. === Welcome to the hot hatch episode! We'll touch on some real oddballs in this one – like the Dodge Omni GLHS, Suzuki Swift, Chevrolet Sprint, and Mitsubishi Mirage. Plus some allegedly fabulous but forbidden fruit: the Peugeot 205 GTi Rally and Renault Clio Williams. Then we'll dive into the Jeep XJ Cherokee which Jason just did a Revelations episode on. It began as the unibody successor to the giant and inefficient Jeep Wagoneer – a honking SUV with CJ Wrangler guts inside – which, incidentally, was a recipe being emulating across the globe as Toyota and Land Rover (to name a few) were also building more comfortable and luxurious SUVs using drivetrain bits from their more serious off-roaders like the BJ/FJ and Series II/III. The Cherokee followed the Range Rover away from the body-on-frame chassis and adopted unitary construction methods resulting in genuine handling prowess – even out-gripping a W201 Mercedes-Benz 190E. In fact, the chassis bones are so good you can find XJs competing amongst much sportier cars in 24 Hours of Lemons races across the country. Jason even deems the XJ one of his best back road drives ever. Sadly, early cars were excruciatingly slow thanks to an anemic Renault-built AMC engine. But that didn't stop Jason from getting one of his very first speeding tickets in one. The little XJ made a lasting impression on nearly everyone who had the pleasure of experiencing one – including Derek, whose experiences in his mom's are literally his earliest datable memories. The little Jeep was so popular that when the Grand Cherokee came along to replace it, so many people were still clamoring for the original Cherokee that Jeep decided they would just build both. After the Jeep, we jump into VW's perennial hatchback hit: the GTI. All 8 generations have their pros and cons: Jason proclaims the VR6 to be one of the best sounding engines ever produced, and the 1.8T the worst VW ever made. The MQB platform underpinning the latest cars is declared spectacular. The Mk4 is a chubby baby Audi/Mercedes. The Mk6 fixes a lot of the hamster-styling of the Mk5, but the Mk5 has the better steering, just beware understeer. The Mk7 is a delight, especially if you can find yourself a Rabbit or Sport edition in Great Falls Green or Cornflower Blue. But even with a fancy color scheme, the humble e-Golf makes the better city car. Of note: Derek finally goes large-barging with a crew made up of a 560SEC, F-Type SVR, F-Pace SVR, a pair of R129s (one dogleg), and A4 2.8 Avant 5-speed, with his Mk5 GTI track car as a palette cleanser. Lastly, Jim Carrey, Mike Myers and Leslie Nielsen are national treasures, and their comedy blockbusters from the 80s, 90s and 2000s are exquisite. But do they hold up as well today as a Jeep XJ? In this French Prototype Episode 382; Mental stands in a dusty circle, Chrissy carries her shoes while hungover and has her arms shredded from tiny sequins, Tim enjoys a prosthetic butt, Chris enjoys the ventilation of dresses and looks for his pockets. Really, we talk with Phil & Liz, aka the X90 kids rally team about the Lemons Rally Vegas we all just did together; where we laughed a lot, decided all dresses need pockets, and almost ripped out some wiring while off roading a limo. The Cizeta-Moroder V16T was the world's first sixteen-cylinder supercar, beating Bugatti by more than a decade. From its Gandini-designed Lamborghini origins, to disco-backed financing via Giorgio Moroder, a star-studded launch party with MC Jay Leno, and a cavalcade of lawsuits that continued up until the death of company founder and creator Claudio Zampolli in 2021. Brian Wiklem's "16" book is available here: https://www.cizeta-v16t.com/ This is the true story of the Cizeta-Moroder V16T. The Cizeta's mysterious engine has left many guessing when it comes to its origins. Turns out, it has 2 cross-plane crankshafts from a Lamborghini Urraco P300 V8, a block design taken right from Ferrari's 308 V8, and heads dissimilar to each — looking more like Cosworth's contemporary DOHC designs. We even learn – thanks to Iain Tyrrell's Classic Workshop – that there appears to have been a flat-plane crank version in the works too! Lots of nerdy engineering talk in this one: the torsional forces acting on crankshafts that make V16s (and straight-8s) not work so well, and how Claudio solved for them with a central power takeoff unit in his transverse V16 with a longitudinal transaxle – as opposed to the McLaren F1 (which debuted not long after) which did the inverse with a longitudinal engine (albeit with 4 fewer cylinders) and transverse transaxle. There were only a handful of V16 engines in the early 1900s, early examples fitted to Cadillacs and Marmons, with the Cizeta and other esoteric oddballs filling the gaps until present day, but now we're getting a new one in the form of the Bugatti Tourbillon – whose predecessors used a much shorter “W” layout for their 16-cylinder powerplants. In any case, the cross-plane crank in the V16T elicits a raucous, lopey idle, and a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R Chewbacca-grade WOT bellow accompanied by a cacophony of gear and induction noises. Build quality is exceptional throughout, and puts the Bugatti EB110 and Countach to shame. Claudio would find himself in very public spats with Jay Leno, the author of the V16T book itself, Brian Wiklem, and countless others at car shows, on Ferrari forums, on Facebook – just about everywhere. He may have been paranoid and a little delusional, but he was an incredible engineer and mechanic, and we're grateful to have been able to experience the Cizeta-Moroder V16T! Huge shout-outs to owner Brendan Gallaher, Jay Leno, and Brian Wiklem. At the start of this episode, we'll also talk Golfs! Specifically MK7s, and the one Jason just bought for his niece. Believe it or not, despite decades of VW-dom, Jason has never owned a real GTI until this car. Now he's turning the youth into car people one relative at a time, starting with the purchase of a 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe 6-speed for his nephew a few years ago, and then sending him to driving school with it. His niece got to attend the same driving school in Jason's E30, Beatrice. And, if Jason leaves the surprise 034Motorsport tune on this new GTI, his niece will inherit a car much quicker than her older brother's (and Derek may have to buy one too). But should we trust 18-year-olds (or Dereks) with 300 hp cars? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
We talk with SCCA Hall of Fame race car driver Randy Pobst. From his racing origins in a Mk1 VW Rabbit, to his 2 wins at the 24 Hours of Daytona, and his personal car collection – including his Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am and Flyin' Moose Volvo 740. To start, we'll dive into Randy's racing experience: factory contracts with Porsche, Mazda, Volvo, and Toyota. Winning the 24 Hours of Daytona not once, but twice, and his 2015 induction into the SCCA Hall of Fame. We'll cover his exploits at Thunderhill, VIR, Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca, Daytona, Pikes Peak, Sonoma, Lime Rock, Willow Springs, and more! From humble origins in a Mk1 VW Golf (no, not a GTI), to a factory-backed FX16 Toyota Corolla, to setting a Laguna Seca lap record in a McLaren Senna. Randy even worked on the set of 2 Fast 2 Furious as a driving instructor for the film's stars: Paul Walker, Tyrese Gibson, and Devon Aoki – to name a few. Randy eventually met Jason while filming an uncooperative Cayman GT4 for Motor Trend, and, despite a rocky start when Jason unexpectedly flung a Range Rover off track while racing Randy in an Alfa Romeo 4C, the two teamed up again to film multiple Ultimate Drag Race, Lap Battle and ICONS episodes for Hagerty. The whole gang laments some of the most irritating modern car tech: excessively bright headlights, lights that are somehow off at night, ABS systems that fully shut down when traveling backwards, AEB overreach, and EPAS systems that completely ruin a car's limit handling by curtailing the driver's ability to quickly catch a slide (like the Shelby GT350 Randy repeatedly spun and Jason crinkled at Willow Springs – not to mention the Unplugged Performance Tesla Model 3 Randy famously wrecked at Pikes Peak). Speaking of handling, Randy divulges his dislike of twitchy cars like the Jaguar F-Type R and XJ, the KTM X-Bow, and Ariel Atom. Jason on the other hand loves an ass-y car like the V12 Vantage S, but says the Lotus Exige V6 Cup was so tail-happy it was uncontrollable. The Porsche Carrera GT is somewhere in the middle with mixed reviews and experience all around. While on the topic of handling dynamics, Randy tells us his secret plan to invent a fix for the C8 Corvette's trailing throttle oversteer. He also gives praise to Porsche's Lars Kern for his work on the latest crop of RS products – which may or may not be Randy's favorite track cars of all time out of the box, alongside the 2014 Porsche 911 50th Anniversary Edition. All of which receive top marks on Randy's understeer spectrum, and are polar opposites of the likes of a 1960s Cadillac. We'll touch on Randy's personal car collection as well, which includes a Volvo 740 sedan and wagon, his 1977 Pontiac Trans Am “Randit” (and its oil starvation woes), Toyota Tundra tow vehicle, VW Karmann Ghia and early Tesla Model S. Plus, Derek invents a new phrase for “road rage”, Randy bitch slaps cars out of his way, and also beautifully sings Primus' Wynona's Big Brown Beaver. Learn more about your ad choices.
