You don't need Johns Hopkins to become a nurse. You don't even need four years. On this Laurel Ridge Community College edition of The Valley Today, host Janet Michael is back on the Zooms with Director of Marketing Guy Curtis, joined by Dr. Scott Vanderkooi, Dean of Health Professions, and Dr. Amanda Hodges, Interim Director of Nursing — to talk about how someone in this region can become a working RN in two years, often for far less money than they assume, and with a 100% job placement rate to show for it. The bigger news in this conversation is the launch of a brand-new weekend-and-online cohort starting in spring 2027, designed specifically for people who can't quit their jobs to go back to school. Online lectures, weekend labs, weekend clinicals — built around the reality that most adult learners are already working. Amanda walks through what the program looks like, who it's right for, and how CNAs, LPNs, EMTs, paramedics, and even total beginners can step in. Plus: how G3 state funding can cover the last dollar of tuition for eligible Virginia residents, and the upcoming online information sessions where you can learn more. ABOUT THE NEW WEEKEND RN COHORT Launching spring 2027, Laurel Ridge's new RN nursing cohort is built for adult learners who can't step away from full-time work. Lectures and coursework are delivered online. Labs, simulations, and clinical hours run on weekends. The program leads to an RN license — the same credential as the traditional weekday program — and qualifies for G3 last-dollar tuition funding for eligible Virginia residents. WHO IT'S FOR • Adults currently working who want to change careers • CNAs, LPNs, EMTs, paramedics, and surgical techs looking to advance to RN • People with no prior healthcare experience who want to enter the field • Anyone who needs to keep their current job while going to nursing school INFORMATION SESSIONS • First session: Monday, June 23, 2026 — online • Additional sessions throughout July (dates listed at laurelridge.edu/nursing) • Sessions cover the new weekend cohort, the traditional RN program, the CNA program, and the Practical Nursing program — plus admission requirements, the entrance exam, and how to prepare. Parents of high school students considering nursing careers are welcome to attend. ABOUT G3 FUNDING G3 (Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back) is a Virginia state program that covers the "last dollar" of tuition costs for high-demand career programs at Virginia community colleges. Eligibility is based on household income — roughly $100,000 to $128,000 depending on household size — and Virginia residency. G3 stacks on top of any federal financial aid (like FAFSA) so it covers what other aid doesn't. A maximum of 5W of power can be used in this contest. Now the radio propagation report, compiled by G0KYA, G3YLA and G4BAO on Thursday, the 4th of June. We are awaiting the arrival of solar material as a result of three coronal mass ejections, or CMEs, that erupted off the Sun. These were sparked by three solar flares. These, coupled with a high-speed solar wind stream from an Earth-facing coronal hole, threaten to initiate a geomagnetic storm. A strong G3 geomagnetic storm has been predicted, which could push the Kp index up to 6 or 7, and push maximum usable frequencies down, perhaps lasting through the weekend and affecting RSGB National Field Day. Meanwhile, the solar flux index has crept up and stood at 147 on Thursday, the 4th of June. This has meant that the ionosphere has been playing ball, with lots of reports of DX being worked, either through F-region propagation or Sporadic E. The 10m band has been sounding like 20m at times, especially around the FT8 frequency of 28.074MHz. DX to be worked this week includes 5Z4/MM0ZBH in Kenya, 8Q7ML in the Maldives, VJ2L on Lord Howe Island, 5H1KB in Tanzania and 9X5KM operating from Rwanda. We are now heading for midsummer, which means the 20m band may be open 24 hours a day. In general, F-region maximum usable frequencies, or MUFs, will be lower than in the winter or spring. However, Sporadic-E makes up for that with strong signals on the higher HF bands out to 1,500km on a single hop, with occasional multi-hop openings. Next week NOAA predicts that the solar flux index will decline, perhaps into the 120 to 135 range. After the recent geomagnetic upset clears, conditions are predicted to stabilise, with the Kp index forecast to be around 2 for the beginning of the coming week. Unsettled geomagnetic conditions are then forecast from Thursday the 11th to Sunday the 14th with the potential for the Kp index to hit between 4 and 6, with a corresponding drop in the MUF. And now the VHF and up propagation news from G3YLA and G4BAO The unsettled weather has brought some heavy rain and a few chances of rain scatter for the GHz bands, but it does also tend to limit the chances of tropo. However, it is the UK that retains the unsettled weather, whereas the continent is still enjoying relatively higher pressure. So perhaps stations in southern Britain may be able to gain some occasional tropo advantage. There are options for meteor scatter from the Arietids, which peak early this coming week. Some predict that it will be a strong shower this year. Since it's a daytime meteor shower, it can be very useful for Sporadic-E, which makes use of the ionisation they leave behind. The Kp index has been gently disturbed at times, but not enough to generate any exciting radio aurora. However, it has possibly been disturbed enough to subdue Sporadic-E at times, as this depends on a stable and low Kp index to be most effective. Sporadic-E itself has provided some reasonable European openings and a few longer multi-hop paths for the digital modes. This unsettled weather produces strong jet streams, for summer, and should continue to be useful for providing the turbulence needed as part of the process for making Sporadic-E.  The placement of the jet streams may, however, be confined to the northwestern fringe of Europe and perhaps prompt a focus on Scandinavia and northern Europe for any resulting Sporadic-E. EME now, and after last week's low declination and apogee, this week sees Moon declination increasing again and path losses falling. The 144MHz sky temperature is low all week. And that's all from the propagation team this week.

Allie sits down with Bible teacher Mike Winger to break down the viral “alien disclosure” scandal that rocked Christian circles. A group of charismatic pastors, including Perry Stone, claimed the government held a secret meeting warning religious leaders about impending UFO revelations involving reptilian beings, a fake rapture, and a massive deception that would cause the Great Falling Away — claims that quickly spread across social media before unraveling. Mike explains how the story originated, why it went viral, who was actually in the meeting, and how several pastors walked back their dramatic assertions after pushback and clarifications from Rep. Eric Burlison (R-Mo.). The conversation also dives into the larger issue of cover-up culture in the church, Mike's work exposing abuse, and deception in ministry. In Jeremiah 37–39, Zedekiah asks for prayer and asks for a word from the Lord, but still resists what God says. What does that reveal about the difference between wanting help from God and wanting lordship from God? K2. Zedekiah's real issue seems to be fear of people more than fear of the Lord. Where do you see that tension in your own life, and how does it shape the way you make decisions? K3. Jesus says following him means giving up your own way and taking up your cross. What does it look like, practically, to treat Jesus as King when his direction feels costly or confusing? Grow in groups G1. Jeremiah was trapped in prison, falsely accused, and largely alone, yet he kept speaking what God said. How can our church become the kind of place where truth is welcomed even when it is hard to hear? G2. Zedekiah kept asking Jeremiah for private counsel, but he never really submitted to it. What are signs that a person is listening to spiritual truth without actually obeying it? G3. Jeremiah 37-39 shows a pattern of people wanting the outcome of faith without the surrender of faith. How can we/our church help one another move from “God, help me” to “God, lead me”? Show up and serve S1. Ebed-melech steps in when others stay silent. What does his courage teach us about serving God in moments when the crowd is passive, afraid, or unjust? S2. Jeremiah's surrender looks weak from the outside, but the story shows it is actually the path of life. Where might serving faithfully feel costly now but produce life later? S3. What is one area where you/our church could respond this week with action instead of just agreement, especially when obedience might be uncomfortable or unpopular?

Tucker Carlson told his audience that Muslims love Jesus. But is that true? Islam claims Jesus as a prophet while denying His deity, His crucifixion, and His resurrection. The Quran rewrites the gospel and replaces it with a competing narrative. In this episode of G3 Weekly, Scott Aniol examines Tucker's theological claims — including his suggestion that Trump may be the Antichrist — and explains why faithful Christians must test the spirits, even when the errors come from voices on their own side. Also this week: Russia drops a precision bomb on a Baptist church during a prayer meeting in Ukraine. Trump's Religious Liberty Commission declares there is no separation of church and state — and we explain why the Reformed tradition says that's the wrong correction. Interview with Louis-Pierre Gignac, President & CEO of G Mining Ventures Corp. Our previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/g-mining-ventures-tsxgmin-fully-financed-path-towards-500kozpa-gold-production-by-2028-8221Recording date: 10th April 2026G Mining Ventures (TSX:GMIN) has announced the acquisition of G2 Goldfields, its neighbour in Guyana's Karouni gold district, consolidating two deposit systems that management describes as the same mineralised ore body divided only by a property boundary. The transaction is designed to transform Oko West on track for first gold in the second half of 2026 from a standalone project into a combined operation targeting up to 500,000 ounces of gold per year. The core of the investment case is geological. The Oko West and G2's Oko-Ghani deposits sit within 3 km of each other and share the same mineralised system, meaning the integration is an expansion exercise rather than a hub-and-spoke consolidation. G Mining's existing plant footprint was already being designed with expansion capacity in mind. Reaching a 25–30% throughput increase requires adding an additional ball mill, pebble crushing, leach circuit tankage, and modest tailings and power infrastructure, not redesigning the facility from scratch.Critically, none of this disrupts the existing build. Construction at Oko West proceeds on its current schedule, with first gold still targeted for H2 2026. The expansion planning and engineering work runs in parallel. An updated feasibility study for the combined project is expected in the first half of 2027, with expansion capital expenditure concentrated in 2028 and expanded production beginning in 2029.The permitting pathway is similarly de-risked. G Mining holds a 25-year mining licence at Oko West, and its existing mineral agreement with the Guyanese government contains provisions that extend its terms to assets acquired within the Karouni basin. The G2 deposits are expected to be incorporated through an addendum to existing approvals rather than a full regulatory re-submission.Financing is not a constraint. Following transaction close, G Mining will hold approximately $255 million in pro forma cash and a $350 million undrawn credit facility. Its producing Tocantinzinho (TZ) mine in Brazil generated over $250 million in free cash flow in 2025 and continues to contribute to the balance sheet through the construction phase and beyond. Management states the expanded project is fully funded without requiring additional equity issuance. The transaction also adds 362 km² of land to G Mining's Guyana position, all within approximately 20 km of Oko West. G2's exploration team transitions into a new vehicle, G3, seeded with $45 million and structured with a contingent value right that would deliver an additional $200 million to G2 shareholders if new discoveries bring total ounces to between 3.5 and 7.5 million. At a C$12 billion market capitalisation, G Mining is no longer a speculative junior. But management's contention is supported by a clear sequence of upcoming milestones: construction completion, first gold, a combined feasibility study, permitting, and eventually a 500,000-ounce operation in one of South America's more active emerging gold jurisdictions. For investors in the mid-tier gold space, the story is one of scale, execution track record, and a funded path to production growth.View G Mining's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/g-mining-venturesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com      Going to see G3 and not being able to get up front… but looking for a bathroom upstairs I walked in on him - “your Joe Satriani… Yes I am”.    Mark 2 When Jesus returned to Capernaum several days later, the news spread quickly that he was back home. 2 Soon the house where he was staying was so packed with visitors that there was no more room, even outside the door. While he was preaching God's word (OUR JOB- PREACH THE WORD OF GOD - Preaching Gods word always messes up the religious and the traditional) to them, 3 four men arrived carrying a paralyzed man on a mat. 4 They couldn't bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, (PEOPLE ARE SELFISH EVEN WITH THE BEST INTENTIONS) so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus. (SOMEBODY'S GOTTA GET DIRTY - uh…thats not how we do things here - the religious are always quick to point out the “right way”) 5 Seeing their faith ( GK-auton personal possessive pronoun all 5 had faith), Jesus said to the paralyzed man, “My child, your sins are forgiven.” (CHILD, I AM YOUR FATHER, YOU ARE MY CHILD, I DISCERN YOUR BELIEF - you believe in me therefore you are now my child/I am your Father)  6 But some of the teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to themselves, 7 “What is he saying? This is blasphemy! Only God can forgive sins!”  (WHY DO YOU THINK THESE MEN SAW JESUS AS THE MESSIAH BUT NOT THE RELIGIOUS LEADERS?) 8 Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them, “Why do you question this in your hearts? 9 Is it easier to say to the paralyzed man ‘Your sins are forgiven,' or ‘Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk'? (RELIGIOUS LEADERS TAUGHT THAT SICKNESS WAS DUE TO SIN IN A PERSONS LIFE - so healing and forgiveness were intertwined) 10 So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” Then Jesus turned to the paralyzed man and said, 11 “Stand up, pick up your mat, and go home!” 12 And the man jumped up, grabbed his mat, and walked out through the stunned onlookers. They were all amazed and praised God, exclaiming, “We've never seen anything like this before!”   a series of controversy stories (Mark 2:1–3:6) that highlight growing opposition to Jesus from Jewish religious authorities       Both reveal Jesus exercising divine authority in ways that clash with first-century Jewish expectations.     Jesus first declares, “Son, your sins are forgiven”—bypassing expected healing and striking at the root issue.     (forgiving sins is “easier” because invisible and unprovable; healing is verifiable), and performs the harder visible act to authenticate the invisible one. The healed man's immediate obedience proves Jesus' authority as the “Son of Man” who exercises divine power now, not just in a future kingdom. The crowd's reaction (“We never saw anything like this!”) underscores the unprecedented nature of the claim.   Taxi drivers in NY - get out now. Uber is coming. It will change everything.     This incident challenges the entire religious establishment: forgiveness is no longer Temple-bound but available through Jesus' word; institutional mediators (scribes, sacrifices, Pharisees, Rules and Temple system) are sidelined.

Heavier buffers like the H2 help fine-tune over-gassed systems by increasing mass. 1X Prism Optic A 1X prism optic uses a glass prism to focus both the target image and an etched reticle, which can be optionally illuminated without requiring batteries for basic use. It provides clarity and durability advantages over red dots, particularly for users with astigmatism, and supports complex reticles like ACSS with bullet drop compensation. Though not truly 1X, any magnification is negligible in practice. GUN FIGHTS No one stepped into the arena this week. GOING BALLISTIC Alberta and Saskatchewan Reject Federal Gun Confiscation Program from Ottawa (Savage) Alberta and Saskatchewan have publicly opposed Ottawa's federal firearm confiscation program, which banned about 2,500 firearms with a voluntary declaration deadline of March 31. Alberta's Minister of Justice Mickey Amery affirmed non-participation, directing provincial entities including law enforcement to decline implementation under provincial sovereignty legislation. Saskatchewan passed legislation to hinder the program, prompting criticism from Federal Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree. John Lott on U.S. Military Bases Gun-Free Zones Policy (1992-1993) (Savage) John Lott argues that U.S. military bases should never have implemented gun-free zones, as these policies disarm trained personnel, leaving them vulnerable to attackers, evidenced by multiple mass shootings totaling 24 murdered and 38 wounded. The restrictions originated in 1992 under President George H.W. Bush and were enacted in 1993 by President Clinton to create a more ‘professional, business-like' environment. In contrast, troops carried weapons at all times in Iraq and Afghanistan without internal violence. Antonyuk v. James: New York Permanent Injunction on Social Media Gun Permit Requirement (Savage) In Antonyuk v. James, the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York issued a permanent injunction against New York's requirement for concealed carry applicants to disclose social media accounts from the past three years, as part of the Concealed Carry Improvement Act. The state consented to this injunction, removing the provision from the PPB-3 license application form. Litigation continues on other aspects of the Act, including restrictions on sensitive locations. Trump's FY2027 Budget Proposal (Civil Rights Division and ATF Funding for 2A Protection) (Savage) President Trump's FY2027 budget proposal includes targeted federal funding to defend Second Amendment rights, such as $1.4 million for a new office in the DOJ Civil Rights Division to protect against unlawful infringements and pursue enshrining those rights. It allocates $4.8 million to the Office of the Pardon Attorney's Firearm Rights Restoration Initiative for law-abiding citizens to regain rights post-justice obligations. The budget supports ATF in reversing prior regulations on background checks, pistol braces, homemade firearms, and FFL revocations, redirecting focus to illegal traffickers. Beckwith v. Frey: First Circuit Rules Gun Purchases Not Protected by Second Amendment (Savage) In Beckwith et al. v. Frey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit reversed a district court's preliminary injunction against Maine's 2024 72-hour waiting period for gun purchases (Me. Stat. tit. 25, § 2016). The panel held that the Second Amendment's plain text protects keeping and bearing arms but not the act of purchasing or acquiring firearms. This creates a circuit split with other circuits recognizing a right to acquire arms. ATF Frames and Receivers Rule (Updating 2021R-05F) – Bondi v. VanDerStok (Savage) The ATF is preparing a new draft rule updating the 2021R-05F ‘Definition of ‘Frame or Receiver' and Identification of Firearms,' which expands the definition of ‘firearm' to include partially completed frames, receivers, and certain parts kits that are ‘readily' completable. This follows the 2022 rule upheld by the Supreme Court in Bondi v. VanDerStok (2025). The update eases restrictions on some metal unfinished kits while maintaining strict regulation on polymer frames. It takes real talent to talk for this long and somehow say so little, but the hosts pull it off with impressive consistency. Every episode feels like a masterclass in wandering off-topic, repeating the same points, and stretching what could be five minutes of content into a full episode. The chemistry between the hosts is undeniable—mostly because they seem just as confused about where the conversation is going as the listeners are. The crew of Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen will fly a 10-day free-return trajectory around the Moon aboard the Orion spacecraft on the SLS rocket from Kennedy Space Center. The six-day launch window runs April 1–6. Meanwhile, a new analysis suggests the mission could face elevated solar superflare risk, though NASA is proceeding after a successful Flight Readiness Review. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe storm warning for March 23. Conditions are easing on March 24 (Kp 3–4) but some aurora activity may continue. March is historically the best month for auroras due to the equinox effect, and with Solar Cycle 25 at its peak, scientists say this could be the best aurora viewing period until the mid-2030s. TOI-561 b — an ultra-hot super-Earth about twice Earth's mass, orbiting its star every 10.56 hours — was expected to be a bare rock. Instead, JWST measured a dayside temperature far cooler than a bare rock would produce, indicating a thick atmosphere redistributing heat above a global magma ocean. A Brown University-led team found volcanic material from the Taurus-Littrow region is strongly depleted in sulfur-33 — unlike anything found on Earth. Possible explanations include ancient lunar atmospheric chemistry or a legacy of the Theia impact that formed the Moon. Published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Planets. It's the first day of astronomical spring — and the universe is celebrating in style. On today's Astronomy Daily, Anna and Avery cover a triple CME solar storm with aurora potential reaching as far south as Illinois, explain why the vernal equinox amplifies aurora activity, report on the ongoing meteorite hunt following Tuesday's spectacular Ohio fireball, reveal an extraordinary 14-billion-year-old star that carries the chemical fingerprints of the universe's very first stars, bring a happy update on Europe's Proba-3 solar science satellite which has ended a month of silence, and explain how X-ray CT scans of returned asteroid samples finally cracked one of Bennu's longest-standing mysteries.   Stories in This Episode 1. Triple CME Strike + Equinox Aurora Alert Three coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are currently en route to Earth, with the first arriving today. Forecasters predict G2 (moderate) to G3 (strong) geomagnetic storm conditions, potentially bringing auroras as far south as Illinois. The timing coincides with the vernal equinox — historically one of the best aurora windows of the year due to the Russell-McPherron effect. 2. The Vernal Equinox — Today! The 2026 March equinox arrived today at 14:46 UTC, marking the astronomical start of spring in the Northern Hemisphere (and autumn in the Southern). Tonight, a thin crescent Moon appears alongside Venus in the west-southwest sky. 3. Ohio Fireball — Meteorite Hunt Underway On St. Patrick's Day (March 17), a seven-ton asteroid exploded over northeast Ohio with the force of 250 tons of TNT. Energizing Careers: Laurel Ridge Community College's Power Line Worker Program

The Valley Today

A Career Path Born from Industry Need Laurel Ridge Community College is addressing a critical workforce shortage head-on with its innovative Power Line Worker Program. What began as conversations with local utilities in February 2024 has rapidly transformed into a comprehensive training pipeline that's already placing graduates into high-paying careers across the region. During a recent episode of The Valley Today, host Janet Michael talks with Guy Curtis, Director of Marketing for Laurel Ridge, program manager AnnaJane Whitacre, and Derrick Dehaney, a recent graduate who's about to start his new career with Dominion Power. Together, they revealed how this intensive program is changing lives while keeping Virginia's lights on. Fourteen Weeks to Transform a Career The program packs an impressive amount of training into just 14 weeks. Students attend full-time, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, earning seven industry-recognized credentials along the way. "It's a lot crammed into 14 weeks," AnnaJane admits, but the comprehensive curriculum ensures graduates walk out job-ready. The training begins with four weeks of CDL Class A certification, followed by heavy equipment operator training—a program Laurel Ridge has successfully run for years. From there, students dive into specialized coursework including VDOT work zone traffic control, OSHA 10 certification, CPR and first aid, and the core power line worker curriculum. Moreover, the program covers everything from basic safety and hand tools to the exciting work of climbing poles, working with live wire, and operating specialized equipment like Digger Derrick and bucket trucks. Students also learn about the broader power industry, including the differences between generation, distribution, and transmission systems. From Skepticism to Passion Derrick's journey exemplifies the program's transformative power. Initially, he enrolled at Laurel Ridge simply to obtain his CDL. However, after researching line work on YouTube, he discovered something unexpected. "I was like, wow, these guys are climbing poles—that looks like fun," Derrick recalls. "I fell in love with it at first sight." Despite being older than many of his classmates, Derrick's construction background and athletic lifestyle prepared him well for the physical demands. "I play travel football, still play travel football," he explains. "So me being able to do this work wasn't gonna be a problem at all." Nevertheless, the program challenged him. As a father of two, Derrick juggled full-time classes with weekend security jobs to support his family. "The first couple weeks, I'm like, man, I dunno how I'm gonna do this," he admits. Yet the struggle proved worthwhile. Derrick applied to Dominion Power immediately after graduating on December 18th and received a call back right away. He starts his new career on February 16th. Industry Partnership Makes the Difference What sets this program apart is the Northwestern Virginia Power and Energy Consortium—a partnership between Laurel Ridge, Dominion Energy, local cooperatives, and contractors. This collaboration ensures the curriculum meets real-world needs while providing students direct access to employers. Throughout the program, companies visit during lunch hours to discuss employment opportunities. "The employers have to bring lunch, so they have to buy the students pizza or subs or whatever," AnnaJane explains with a smile. "And then they get the whole lunch hour to talk about employment opportunities." Furthermore, near the end of the course, companies conduct on-site interviews with students. These aren't mock interviews—they're real opportunities that often lead to job offers before graduation. "Several of the students had offers or at least follow-up interviews shortly after graduation or even before graduation," AnnaJane notes. A Career with Unlimited Potential The financial prospects are compelling. Entry-level positions start around $50,000 annually, while experienced line workers can earn well over six figures. However, the opportunities extend far beyond the initial position. As AnnaJane discovered while developing the program, the career pathways are surprisingly diverse. Graduates can specialize in transmission work on high-voltage tower lines, focus on underground systems prevalent in urban areas, or move into fiber optic installation for telecommunications companies. "It truly is a very fruitful industry with lots of opportunity," she emphasizes. Additionally, the work carries a sense of purpose that resonates deeply with graduates. "In my opinion, they're in a class with first responders," Janet observes. "You're the one that when the power goes out because of a storm, you're gonna be going out there and getting the power restored." Derrick agrees wholeheartedly. "It's a bragging experience for me," he says. "I've never bragged about a job before. It's awesome. It's really awesome." Education That Goes Beyond the Classroom The instructors' dedication particularly impressed Derrick. "Every instructor was top tier for us," he shares. "They made sure we passed the class, made sure that we got the knowledge. And if we needed help, they would literally stop class and help that individual." This supportive environment extended beyond technical training. The program fundamentally changed how Derrick sees the world around him. "Now all I do is look at power lines when I'm driving or whenever I'm outside," he laughs. "I'm like, 'Oh, that's not right. That could cause a fire.'" Making It Accessible While the program represents one of Laurel Ridge's more expensive workforce offerings, multiple funding options make it accessible. Students can apply for Fast Forward funding, G3, and FAFSA assistance. Additionally, the college offers various scholarship opportunities, including county-specific options. "Regardless, let us help you navigate those funding options that are out there," Guy Curtis encourages. The college's financial assistance team screens each student to identify all available funding sources. The Next Cohort Awaits With the first cohort's success, Laurel Ridge is gearing up for its next class starting April 13th and running through July 17th. An information session is scheduled for February 26th from 5 to 7 PM at the Middletown campus student union building. Guy Curtis emphasizes that while pre-registration is requested, anyone interested can attend to learn more about the program and ask questions. "It's worth the while to just investigate, learn more, talk to AnnaJane herself," he says. A Message to Future Students Derrick's advice to anyone considering the program is unequivocal: "Run to it. Go in, sign up." He continues passionately, "I don't know where you can get this amount of credentials and certifications within 14 weeks. After these 14 weeks are over, I'm gonna be so ecstatic because this is 1000% worth it." For those on the fence, Derrick offers reassurance: "Laurel Ridge will make sure you graduate. I can't speak highly enough for what I went through. This is my personal experience, but I just can't be more thankful for Laurel Ridge and what they've done for me and my family and my career." As Derrick prepares to climb his first pole as a Dominion Power employee, he represents not just a program graduate but a testament to what's possible when community colleges partner with industry to meet real workforce needs. Meanwhile, AnnaJane has already warned him and his classmates: "In a few years, I'll be calling y'all again" to speak to future cohorts. The waiting list, as Derrick suggests, should be out the door. Max talks with Matt Bergwall, Executive Director of the Vision Jet Product Line at Cirrus, about the just-announced Cirrus Vision Jet G3 (SF50 G3)—and before that, he offers an unusually personal look at what the AOPA President's job actually requires. Max opens by explaining that he interviewed for the AOPA President role twice and uses that experience to outline what makes the position difficult and consequential. In his view, the job is not simply "being the public face of GA." It demands relentless travel to connect with members, lawmakers, regulators, and stakeholders—while still maintaining a strong day-to-day presence at headquarters to lead a sizable staff. He also emphasizes the fundraising reality: membership dues matter, but major donors increasingly drive what's possible, especially as traditional advertising revenue has eroded across media. Max argues that regardless of opinions about leadership changes, AOPA's advocacy work and member services—like the hotline—can be meaningful to pilots, and he encourages continued support for the organization. He also describes the way top roles like this are typically filled: boards often rely on executive search firms and closed candidate pipelines rather than a standard "job posting" process. Then the focus shifts to the Vision Jet. Matt explains the G3 changes through a pilot-centric lens: what's different in capability, how it affects workload, and what it feels like in real use. One headline upgrade is cabin practicality. Cirrus designed the G3 so six adults can fit comfortably, while still maintaining seven seat belts. That might sound like a simple seating tweak, but Matt describes it as a serious engineering effort that required deep iteration with mockups, real-world body sizes, and attention to the small geometry problems that make the third row either tolerable or miserable. The end goal was not only more capacity, but a better experience for passengers in the back—especially when the airplane is used as family transportation rather than a four-person luxury machine. On the performance side, Matt notes that Cirrus increased the airplane's MMO by 0.01 Mach, which equates to roughly 7 knots of additional true airspeed in certain cruise conditions and can also help during descents and arrivals. He frames the gain as less about bragging rights and more about flow: small speed margins can matter when mixing with faster traffic in busy terminal environments. He also explains the "why" behind the change: rather than a dramatic redesign, the team "sharpened their pencils," did additional flight testing, and validated that the aircraft had enough performance and safety margin to raise the limit. Max asks whether that might also yield a slight range improvement, and Matt says it can—though it's hard to quantify cleanly—while still being a meaningful, felt benefit on colder days when the throttle might otherwise need to pull back. A major avionics headline is CPDLC / ATC Datalink. Matt describes it as a system long familiar to airlines, increasingly available in U.S. centers and at many larger airports for text-based clearances. The practical advantage is removing the most error-prone part of IFR communication: copying down complex clearances and route changes while juggling frequency congestion. With datalink, pilots can receive clearances as text, review them at their own pace, and—in many cases—push the routing or frequency changes directly into the avionics instead of re-typing and re-verifying everything manually. In flight, the system can reduce "did ATC call me?" uncertainty: messages arrive with a clear alert and are hard to miss. Max and Matt also touch on D-ATIS and planning advantages, including how having information in text can reduce repeated listening and make it easier to configure the airplane early. They also cover a string of real operational refinements that make the G3 feel more modern day-to-day: improved taxi situational awareness features, taxiway routing guidance, and more capable visual-approach tools that help pilots set up patterns beyond the common "straight-in" workflow. Inside the cabin, Matt describes seat mechanism improvements that make entry and adjustment easier and more intuitive, plus passenger comfort refinements aimed at making the airplane more usable across a wider range of missions. The result is a G3 that's less about one giant breakthrough and more about a stack of changes that compound: a truer six-adult cabin, modest but useful speed flexibility, and datalink and avionics upgrades that reduce friction during the highest workload moments of an IFR trip. Max closes with the practical ownership layer—what this means for buyers thinking about price and programs—so listeners can translate "new features" into real-world value. With Tim Krueger, Co-Founder and Partner at Krueger, Fosdyck, Brown, McCall & Associates – New Edge Advisors, LLC Overview For many advisors, the real question isn't how big the business becomes—but what happens next. This episode explores how Tim Krueger and his $1.4B Merrill team rethought succession, liquidity, and legacy to create long-term continuity. About this episode… For many advisors, success is defined by growth: more clients, more assets, more revenue. But at some point, the question shifts from, “How big can we build this?” to “What happens next?” After nearly two decades at Merrill, Tim Krueger and his partners had built a $1.4B practice and one of the most successful teams in their market. By any traditional measure, the internal sunset path would have been the simplest option. But simplicity wasn't the goal. Protecting clients, creating opportunities for the next generation, and preserving the culture they had built mattered more. That led Tim and his partners to make a very different decision: to break away from the wirehouse, sell out of that environment entirely, and align with NewEdge Advisors in a way that solved for succession, liquidity, and long-term continuity—simultaneously. In this conversation with Louis Diamond, Tim shares how focusing on other people's needs – clients, teammates, and future leaders – became the ultimate growth strategy. Plus, they discuss: Lessons learned over nearly two decades at Merrill—and how structure, team building, and next gen cultivation become paramount. Stepping away from Merrill's CTP retire-in-place program—and what other business owners shared with him that inspired the decision to leave the wirehouse. Opting to align with NewEdge Advisors—and how liquidity and continuity were key factors. “Shrinking to grow”—and why it isn't just a portfolio philosophy, but a business one.
