I was so lucky to find Tara Pringle Jefferson last year when - like so many other business owners and entrepreneurs - I was juggling my business and a lot of other stuff that I hadn't expected to be responsible for - like homeschooling during a pandemic, for example - and I desperately needed to create a new baseline for how to work within my business AND how to recharge so I could really show up for my clients as well as my family. She helped put me on the path to better balance. Tara Pringle Jefferson is a writer, speaker, and self-care coach with a lifelong passion for creating community. As founder of the Self Care Suite, she created a wellness community for Black women and other women of color to unlearn exhaustion as their default and develop self-care rituals to sustain themselves. When she's not working, she's making runs to Trader Joe's and trying to perfect her recipe for the perfect pound cake. Born and raised in the Midwest, she lives in Ohio with her husband and two children. If you've ever struggled to squeeze in time for yourself between work and other obligations, Tara has some great insights to help you prioritize filling up your cup. In this interview, Tara shares: > What self care actually is. (HINT: it's not all bath bombs and pedicures.) > The misconceptions we have about self care (especially the ones that prevent us from doing it to begin with - so we can move past them.) > How community has been key to her business growth and her own self care journey. PLUS, she shares the radical self care practice she does every year!

Black women deserve ease. Black women deserve a respite. Black women deserve quiet. And Tara Pringle Jefferson's mission in life is to provide all that and more. Tara is a writer, speaker, and self-care coach with a lifelong passion for creating community. She's founder of the Self Care Suite, a wellness community for Black women to unlearn exhaustion as their default and develop a more easeful way of life. She's currently writing a book on Black women's self-care legacies, due out in 2023. The Self Care Suite is a community of compassion and understanding. In this conversation, Tara doesn't take with her: Why Black women's self care is so important What future accomplishments will make 'younger Tara' jump with excitement The importance of staying present The impact of lurkers in a retreat space Why Tara moves the Self Care Suite in the direction of what's needed in that space at that time The reason therapist referrals fill Tara up Follow Tara in these following spaces: https://www.theselfcaresuite.com/ https://www.instagram.com/theselfcaresuite/ https://twitter.com/selfcaresuite https://www.facebook.com/wherewomenbloom
This week is all about laying the foundation for this season of abundance that we're going into. We're less than 60 days away from the end of 2021. Let's take this time to begin talking about how we want to go into 2022. Let's talk about the power of this time and what we can do to maximize it. Let's jump off together!!Meaning of 87: https://angelnumbersmeaning.com/angel-number-87-meaning-and-symbolism/ Things to remember while we're transitioning into our growth season: Find time to reflect. You have to look back at the highs and lows to celebrate the successes and learn from the losses. It's important to not get caught up in what didn't work. This is a time to forgive yourself for the missteps and/or decisions that lead to this delay. That also goes for people who may have contributed to that misstep. Holding grudges is like taking poison into yourself. Let it go. Letting it go doesn't mean you have to invite these people back into your life. As you're reflecting on all of the things that happened this year. Think about how you felt. If the feelings we're good, what made them good? If it was bad, what made it bad? Remember, getting to the root of each scenario allows you to put words/feelings to it. This will be key in setting up your goals and/or boundaries for 2022.So, now that we've begun processing. Think about how you want to record this information. You have to hold yourself accountable. Write down the vision and make it plain. Keep the format fluid to account for life. This isn't a cookie cutter solution. It's about finding something that you can follow through with. You're the most important part of this commitment. This week we're talking about how I was inspired by an IG post to talk about "low maintenance friend". I talk about my journey as the "low maintenance friend"; and what I'm doing to evolve in this role. Let's put some respect on the "low maintenance friends" in the world. Be honest with yourself and your friends about how you can extend yourself. 2. Extend grace to yourself and your friends when discussing your needs. 3. Be prepared for the feedback you receive. Don't take it personally. Try to understand that they're operating from their viewpoint. What they're saying is a reflection of how they feel. 4. Be open to making changes in your approach. Don't be afraid to being open to a new process or communication style. Boundaries are not walls. One of the best ways that we can take care of ourselves is by maintaining our sense of community. However in this highly digital age, real life communities are sometimes hard to find. That's why so many have turned to digital versions, but not all are created equally. On this week's episode, host LaKeisha Entsuah chats with Tara Pringle-Jefferson, writer, speaker and founder of the Self Care Suite, a digital wellness community for women. Tara has created a robust online community of engaged women, who love, support and encourage each other. Listen in as we talk about finding your tribe and how to take those online friendships offline.
