We spend years building a career, following a path that looks impressive, the one everyone tells you matters. Then one day you stop and ask yourself: is this actually my life, or the life that was assigned to me? Joe Wearmouth spent almost 20 years as a federal attorney, including work for the Department of Homeland Security and the Justice Department, before walking away to research and write about the American Revolution. He joins host Sreemedha to talk about the quiet signals he ignored for years, what it actually took to leave, and why chasing external validation rarely leads anywhere good. About the Guest: Joe Wearmouth practiced law for nearly two decades, including as a federal prosecutor for the U.S. Department of Justice and an attorney for the Department of Homeland Security. He now writes historical fiction set during the American Revolution, including his novel Rising Sons, and works as a freelance attorney in El Paso, Texas. Key Takeaways: You can build an impressive career on external validation and still feel miserable doing it, every single day. The feeling that something isn't right rarely goes away on its own, most people know deep down and simply fight against it. Change doesn't require jumping off a ledge, start by figuring out what you want to spend your day doing, then figure out how to make that profitable. Doubt doesn't mean you made the wrong call, it's often a sign you're doing something that actually matters to you. A stable job you leave will likely still be there in some form if things don't work out, so the risk is often smaller than it feels. In episode #1139 of The Clay Edwards Show, host Clay Edwards warns of escalating tensions in Minneapolis as a potential flashpoint for America's next civil war, drawing chilling parallels to "Bleeding Kansas"—the 1850s massacre that ignited the original Civil War. Clay breaks down how modern divisions could erupt into neighbor-against-neighbor chaos, with communities like Jackson clashing against Pearl and Brandon over cultural rot, crime, and politics. He envisions a "trail of tears" for liberals fleeing red states like Mississippi to blue havens, amid rants on self-segregation, race relations, and the two-tiered justice system highlighted by Don Lemon's unpunished church storming. Clay calls out the hypocrisy: if MAGA stormed a mosque, arrests would be swift, yet left-wing agitators face no consequences. With weather woes, ICE bills, and personal redemption stories woven in, this episode delivers unfiltered urgency on the fight for America's soul. Tune in for raw talk that doesn't shy away from the brink.

June 14, 1938. It's 8:30 PM at Lake Worth Casino in Fort Worth, Texas. All eyes are on a huge high-dive platform, 40 feet in the air. And at the top? A woman… on a horse. Horse diving is one of the most popular acts in America, and Sonora Carver is one of its stars. She's been doing it for years, traveling the country to perform one of the more unbelievable stunts in sideshow history. But a few years back, Carver suffered a devastating injury during one of these dives and completely lost her eyesight. And yet, she continues to perform this act for thousands around the country. How did diving horses become one of America's most popular attractions, only to fade into near-complete obscurity? And what does Sonora's story reveal about the complicated relationship between risk, resilience, and entertainment? Special thanks to our guests: Cynthia Branigan, author of The Last Diving Horse in America; and Vicki Gold Levi, author and cultural historian of Atlantic City. Working in the pet behavior field isn't always rainbows and unicorns. Instead, sometimes it involves the Rainbow Bridge. This topic is often misunderstood and stigmatized as the dark side of behavior. However, in science and in life, it is essential we refrain from drawing conclusions or placing blame without weighing facts and exploring varying points of view. One perspective is that the practice of euthanasia is a painless and humane way of releasing a pet from their suffering when all other means have been exhausted, and can be considered a compassionate and selfless gift.Join The Amys and their extra special guest, researcher, and applied animal behaviorist, Miranda Hitchcock, co-founder of Every Dog Austin Behavior & Training, for a heart to heart discussion about this sensitive, but necessary topic. In the next clip of our exclusive interview with Los Angeles Billboard Killer BUGE BAMC VS, he recounts a heart-pounding encounter that nearly cost him his freedom—and his life. Known for scaling dizzying heights to leave his mark on the city's billboards, BUGE shares the story of one unforgettable night when he collided with law enforcement in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse. BUGE was painting on a prominent city ledge when he saw the flashing lights of police units surrounding the area. He describes the chilling moment he noticed a police helicopter zeroing in, its powerful “night sun” spotlight illuminating his every move. With no way down, he and his fellow writer faced a split-second decision: surrender or make a break for it. Their choice? Leap from the building's roof into the unknown. The clip dives into the adrenaline fueled escape that ensued, a perilous leap in a bid for freedom that no one expected them to survive. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/richard-castro63/support
