In this episode, co-hosts Jasmin and Kiana Brooks speak with special guests Taylor Alexander and Malik Chambers about gender roles in the Black community, breaking down stereotypes and highlighting some of the unique experiences of Black men and Black women in America. For our allies, please remember that as Black people, and as members of the BIPOC community, we are collectively fighting to unearth and dismantle white privilege. So we ask you to take this conversation as an opportunity to identify and discuss some of your privileges as white people in America, and use that awareness to help serve BIPOC communities. This episode is a continuation of Season 1: We Had The Talk About Being Black in America, which provides insight into some of the difficulties Black people face on the day to day as we attempt to navigate a white world.

On Episode 101, I'm joined by singer-songwriter Taylor Alexander, who released his full-length debut album, the excellent Good Old Fashioned Pain, just over a year ago. The collection of songs in several ways reflect Alexander's early to mid-twenties and the growing and maturation that followed. During this interview, we talk about the moments that shaped those songs, growing up in Florida & Georgia, his ultimate move to Nashville, the intimacy of songwriting, the likes of Bright Eyes & Elliott Smith, and how he's stayed inspired during the 2020 Pandemic. HEY HEIFERS. Taylor and I go way back to ye olde days of college. The cool thing about Taylor is that he comes from a SMALLL town in South Carolina - had the courage to go to a college where he knew NO ONE, and then BUSTED OUT of the South to go to the mega city of Boston! He seemed like the perfect person to have on the pod to talk about what it’s like to uproot yourself in so many ways, and how we have personally dealt with our mental health when we take on these adventures.
On this episode, singer/songwriter/guitarist Carson Taylor Alexander was live in the studio and country singer/songwriter Deanna Wheeler called in to the CobraCast for one hell of a good time... Carson played a bunch of tunes on his acoustic and brought down the house... Both Carson and Deanna are great talents and you need to go check them out when they come to your town... Enjoy, Much Love ;)
On this episode... A very talented Singer/Songwriter Carson Taylor Alexander joins me in the studio for yet another great episode... We talk about Carson's beginnings in Memphis playing on Beale Street to playing in bands and projects in Austin, Texas... He also brought his acoustic guitar and played 3 great original songs... What's better than that?? ha... For more information on Carson and all his projects, go to www.facebook.com/carsonalexandermusic ... Enjoy ;)
My good buddy Taylor Alexander just got done with a TV run on NBC's The Voice, & he's here to tell us all about it. Taylor sang his own country arrangement of Cher's hit "Believe" for his blind audition that was so intriguing that Adam Levine just had to turn around & meet him. That video is in YouTube if you wanna see it. Check him out, fam!
My buddy Taylor Alexander joins me this week. Taylor is a traditional country singer that loves Merle, Willie, Waylon, George Jones, Hank Williams, Bob Dylan & more. He's only 24 but his voice sounds like it comes from the 1950's, which I think is really cool. He has an EP out Friday June 17th, so search him out for it. We talk about what its like to be so broke that you have to go downtown & busk for your rent money & much much more. Also, He gives his opinion on todays country music, a response that you don't wanna miss! check it out fam! // @taylor4lexander on socials
