This episode is deeply personal. This last Sunday at Impact Life Church, Pastor Joel speaks about how disobedience and rebellion are big deals to God. As believers, we cannot afford to tolerate any of it in our lives! Look at the Garden of Eden; it was the reason why men fell and gave authority to the devil over the earth! Listen NOW to hear more! It was a great message!
CHAPTER 7 OF TAKING EVERY THOUGHT CAPTIVE: THOUGHTS AND MENTAL HEALTH AND THE REALITY ON GROUNDIt is a valid question to ask, if individuals are not in a sound state of mind and cannot think logically, how can we expect them to make sensible and well-informed decisions that ultimately lead to beneficial and successful outcomes? The fundamental ability to think soundly and logically is essential for a thriving and prosperous society. Yet this critical function is consistently being eroded and weakened, ultimately leaving countless individuals incapable of effectively navigating the multitude of challenges that life presents with the necessary clarity, courage, and wisdom to succeed.By bringing attention to this crucial issue of mental health and emotional well-being in Western societies and other regions across the globe, particularly Europe and to a significant extent, Africa, it becomes clear that there is a pressing demand for a more profound understanding and resolution of the complexities of human thought processes and dysfunctional behavioral patterns. When we truly understand the gravity of the issues surrounding the current state of our minds, we not only have the power to enhance individual productivity and well-being, but also the potential to have a transformative impact on society as a whole. The stakes are high, but our current culture often overlooks the importance of addressing the deep-seated roots of negative thought patterns, treating symptoms instead of the cause. This neglect is like a ticking time bomb. The Bible warns us about the dangers of allowing the root of bitterness to take hold of our mindsets and succumb to the spirit of fear. Uprooting these two powerful seeds is essential for living a fulfilled and successful life, especially for Christians in this critical season of intense spiritual assault over the mind. Bitterness and fear, if left unchecked, can deeply impact our lives, hindering us from walking in the fullness of God's transforming life and visionary purpose. The truth is, challenges like bitterness, fear, pride, unforgiveness, and disappointment are inevitable aspects of life. If we are honest, everyone carries the weight of a traumatic past. However, addressing these challenges doesn't mean denial or pretending they don't exist, nor suppressing their impact. Instead, it involves cultivating the courage to face them with trust, faith and obedience to the instruction of God's word. It's essential to confront these feelings directly by daily presenting your thought pattern to God and preventing the negative emotions attached to those issues from defining your present and future reality.

Hurricane Milton made landfall Wednesday night along Florida's Gulf Coast as a Category 3 storm. It's expected to be one of the most powerful hurricanes to hit the U.S. in more than 100 years, with sustained winds of over 120 miles an hour. As Milton moved closer to shore Wednesday, strong inland winds triggered tornado warnings across parts of Florida, and at least one tornado was reported near Fort Myers. WAD's own Josie Duffy Rice got in contact with two friends who evacuated from western Florida ahead of the storm. Later in the show, Abrahm Lustgarten, climate reporter for ProPublica and author of the book ‘On the Move: The Overheating Earth and the Uprooting of America,' talks about the ways climate change is reshaping how — and where — we live. And in headlines: Vice presidential candidates Tim Walz and J.D. In 2004, organizer and arts organizer David Solnit published the anthology "Globalize Liberation: How to Uproot the System and Build a Better World." In the introduction he said, “the new radicalism looks different everywhere,” and cited the Zapatista rebellion in Chiapas, Mexico, as a pivotal moment in his understanding of the new radicalism. “The Zapatistas held that there are multiple valid frameworks to look at the world,” and contrasted this outlook with the “cookie-cutter model” of the past, epitomized by the Soviet Union. The book served as an organizers guide, but the many chapters described a movement of movements that emerged in the post-Cold War era. The movements that challenged neo-liberal institutions like the World Trade Organization, the World Bank and the Free Trade Area of the Americas; and the U.S. empire's invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. The movements that later lead to Occupy, the global climate justice movements, a labor resurgence and efforts to fight empire and genocide in Palestine and other parts of the world. Scott talks with long time friend and comrade David Solnit (@dsolnit) about that movement of movements, the moment in the early 2000s it came out of, lessons learned and how the book still still applies to movement organizing twenty years later. Bio// David co-founded Art and Revolution Collective in the San Francisco Bay Area, and organized as part of the Direct Action Network in Seattle in 1999 and Direct Action to Stop the War in San Francisco in 2003. Heat, drought, and arson are fueling an explosion of fires in Brazil's Amazon and Pantanal region, highlighting the need for the world to act boldly on climate when Brazil hosts the UN climate talks next year. Also, climate change got just one token question at the first and perhaps only debate between presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. We offer other climate questions that should be asked about the Inflation Reduction Act, holding oil companies accountable and more. And the relentless heating of the Earth is prompting people to move after climate-related catastrophes and amid more gradual changes. This is my topic of 2024 - food. We need it to survive, and we need it to thrive, but food is also the most frequent and widespread choice for abuse, over use and addiction. My sense is that by better understanding and unpacking the human relationship with food in modern times, including ultra-processed food, the more people will feel able to break the chains of enslavement to food addiction, disorders and abuse that is at the crux of obesity, diabetes, neurodegenerative disease and many more diseases. In this episode we bring you the strange story of Kimberly Sue Doss, who, at the age of 14, vanished whilst travelling home to her mother in Houston, Texas. Her disappearance is a mystery that has plagued her loved ones for over forty years. Kimberly's parents were separated and she split her time between Texas and Iowa. Uprooting her life several times a year was putting a strain on her relationships so, one day in February, 1980, she ran away from home. Kimberly said she was getting a ride to school but instead, she took a bus to Davenport, where her father resided. In all truth, she preferred living in Houston but her closest friends, as well as her boyfriend, were in the Hawkeye State. Before long however, Kimberly grew tired of life as a runaway and contacted her mother, telling her she was coming back. The last time anyone heard from her, was a phone call explaining that she had met a girl named Kathy on the bus and would be staying with her during her stopover in Chicago. Kimberly never made it home. This episode hears from Kimberly's sister Schelly, who explains the devastating impact her younger sibling's absence has had on her family. She takes us through the wild theories that erupted in the wake of Kimberly's disappearance, such as the suggestion that she was now living as a prostitute on Hollywood Boulevard and explains how the authorities mismanagement of missing person databases, impeded the search for her sister. In this episode of The More Freedom Foundation, hosts Rob and Ruairi dive into the book On the Move: The Overheating Earth and the Uprooting of America by Abrahm Lustgarten. Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, but Rob admits he's surprisingly relaxed about the impending catastrophe. Hoping to jolt himself into action, he turned to Lustgarten's book, expecting it to fuel his fears about the future. Instead, Rob found himself oddly comforted by the idea of spending more time in Michigan. Lustgarten's exploration of how climate change will reshape where and how we live provoked a more personal reflection on staying grounded amidst uncertainty. Join Rob and Ruairi as they unpack this surprising reaction and discuss the broader implications of the book's insights on how Americans might adapt—or even thrive—in a rapidly warming world. Too many mamas get stuck in runaway train type thinking that sounds so true that you often don't question it. I also often see too many well meaning friends try to combat that thinking by disagreeing with it entirely, which doesn't always feel right to you, if those thoughts have a smidge of truth in them. Thoughts like: I can't do this. I am no good at this. I am ruining them. They would be better off in school. And others. These thoughts feel so rotten, because they sound so, so true. They FEEL so, so true. And it's honestly not useful to argue with them in order to change them. But I don't want you living under the weight of those thoughts any longer, either, because they're are what are keeping you disconnected, frustrated, and unhappy! That's why, in today's podcast episode, I share with you the ways I prefer to respond to those thoughts that is rooted in an even bigger, deeper truth. Borrow these new thoughts that I offer you whenever you get stuck in that Scarcity Mindset in the future and come back to listen to this episode as often as you need it! About Leah & Lulu:
The world has gone election-crazy, but fortunately Hannah and Jen have mostly swerved it in this week's Bush Telegraph. There's some real human hardship to talk about, beyond poor ickle Rishi's lack of Sky TV, as well as some mental imagery you're likely never to forget around microplastics and human testicle samples. In sport, we're looking at the European Athletics Championships, as well as saying a firm “fuck this shit” to the decision makers at Thornaby FC. Learn more about your ad choices. An estimated one in two people will experience degrading environmental conditions this century and will be faced with the difficult question of whether to leave their homes. Will you be among those who migrate in response to climate change? If so, where will you go?Abrahm Lustgarten is an investigative reporter, author, and filmmaker whose work focuses on human adaptation to climate change. His 2010 Frontline documentary The Spill, which investigated BP's company culture, was nominated for an Emmy. His 2015 longform series Killing the Colorado, about the draining of the Colorado river, was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Lustgarten is a senior reporter at ProPublica, and contributes to publications like The New York Times Magazine and The Atlantic. His research on climate migration influenced President Biden's creation of a climate migration study group. This is also the topic of his newly published book, On The Move: The Overheating Earth and the Uprooting of America in which he explores how climate change is uprooting American lives.“Living in California, I've just come to accept the unsettledness of this era we're moving into. And I think that's really how I see the future. You know, we're living in an era of disruption, and there are others I talk to and write about in the book who also muse about the possibility of a more nomadic future. That maybe home isn't a permanent place with deep roots but is a transient place with shallow roots or two places that you alternate between. In addition to a lot of other dramatic changes that the book is about, a change in our sense of home and our sense of place is a part of this story.”https://abrahm.comhttps://us.macmillan.com/books/9780374171735/onthemovewww.creativeprocess.infowww.oneplanetpodcast.orgIG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast

And, you know, the fact is that many cities in the United States will not be able to afford that, especially smaller ones and especially southern ones.A part of planning for this needs to include thinking about managed retreat from highly vulnerable areas. The tax base of that community that supports schools undermines the real estate market and the value of property, and it can lead to a spiral of economic decline that can be really dangerous for the people who remain. This can really hollow out a community and that's an enormous challenge to deal with, but one way to deal with it is to try to keep the resources and infrastructure in a community proportional to the population that's utilizing it and to maintain some energy and prosperity and vitality. So, I think a lot of places in the United States need to plan to get smaller, which is really the antithesis of the American philosophy of growth and economic growth. If you want to keep your community intact, you could move together, or you could move to a place where your neighbors have also moved or something like that. That's the kind of new idea that is being batted around that can help keep communities coherent.”https://abrahm.comhttps://us.macmillan.com/books/9780374171735/onthemovewww.creativeprocess.infowww.oneplanetpodcast.orgIG www.instagram.com/creativeprocesspodcast
Wildfire and hurricane seasons are growing more severe, forcing some Americans to rethink where they live. Abrahm Lustgarten is an investigative reporter writing about climate change at ProPublica and for The New York Times. He joins host Krys Boyd to discuss where people might eventually resettle and the cities that could capitalize on that forced migration. His book is “On the Move: The Overheating Earth and the Uprooting of America.”
ProPublica reporter Abrahm Lustgarten says in the coming decades it's likely tens of millions of us will relocate to escape rising seas, punishing heat, floods and wildfires due to global warming. He says nine of the ten fastest growing regions of the country are on the front lines of the most severe and fast-changing climate conditions.
