In this episode, Arielle sits down with artist Edward Woodley, the co-founder of China Heights. They discuss the evolution of the gallery and his role as a gallery director. He talks about the importance of partnerships and the benefits of working with a business-savvy partner. Eddie also shares his multidisciplinary approach to art and his childhood growing up in a creative environment. He explains how China Heights started as a collective and transformed into a gallery and the challenges and successes they've experienced over the years. Edward discusses the gallery's representation of artists and the criteria they look for in selecting artists to work with. He also touches on their partnerships with other businesses, such as Paramount House and an upcoming project in Taylor Square. China Heights is a gallery that aims to change the traditional gallery model by fostering a partnership between the artist and the gallery. They prioritise open dialogue and collaboration, treating the relationship as a partnership rather than a hierarchical structure. The gallery focuses on showcasing a diverse range of artists and their work, with an emphasis on supporting and developing the artist's career. They also work on various projects, including collaborations with brands and hotels to integrate art into different spaces. The gallery encourages artists to use social media as a tool to showcase their work and build a community. Patience and consistency are key in the art world, and artists should focus on creating meaningful work rather than seeking immediate success. Rockshow Episode 164 Radio Birdman Radio Birdman is an Australian punk rock band formed by Deniz Tek and Rob Younger in Sydney in 1974.The group influenced the work of many successful, mainstream bands, and are now considered instrumental in Australia's musical growth. Deniz Tek and Rob Younger formed Radio Birdman in mid-1974 in Sydney, having recently left their bands TV Jones and the Rats respectively. The pair sought to begin a band that would challenge the commercial mainstream and be completely uncompromising. They recruited classical keyboard player Philip "Pip" Hoyle, drummer Ron Keeley and bassist Carl Rorke. The band took their name from a misheard lyric from the Stooges' song "1970" (the actual lyric is "radio burnin'"). After being rejected many times from various venues, and having resorted to putting on its own concerts in rented garages and tiny community halls, by mid 1975 Radio Birdman found an upstairs room at the Oxford Tavern in Taylor Square, Sydney. They eventually took over its management, renaming it The Funhouse.[1] Under their management the Funhouse became a home to other outsider groups. Prior to the opening of this venue, Carl Rorke had left the band and was replaced by longtime friend of Rob Younger, Warwick Gilbert (also a former Rats member). Also to leave the band would be Philip Hoyle, though his departure was short-lived. Guitarist Chris Masuak was initially hired to replace Hoyle. Soon a small but growing subculture grew around Radio Birdman. This coincided with the beginnings of the Sydney punk scene. https://m.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100046816942610 https://www.discogs.com/artist/257177-Radio-Birdman https://open.spotify.com/artist/4cpMQdcPKsbw2SaTjGazQf https://mobile.twitter.com/birdmanfilm https://www.songkick.com/artists/147918-radio-birdman #musicvideo #musicstudio #musiclover #musiclife #musicindustry #musiclovers #musiccover #musician #musicproducer #musicproduction #musicians #musicislife #musicartist #musicphotography #musicvideos #Music #drummer #Guitar @drummers @spotify @twitter #grammy @grammy @Australia #RadioBirdman @RadioBirdman @punk #Punk #goldalbum #Platinumalbum @Platinum @gold Please follow us on Youtube,Facebook,Instagram,Twitter,Patreon and at www.gettinglumpedup.com https://linktr.ee/RobRossi Get your T-shirt at https://www.prowrestlingtees.com/gettinglumpedup And https://www.bonfire.com/store/getting-lumped-up/ https://app.hashtag.expert/?fpr=roberto-rossi80 https://dc2bfnt-peyeewd4slt50d2x1b.hop.clickbank.net Subscribe to the channel and hit the like button This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/getting-lumped-up-with-rob-rossi/id1448899708 https://open.spotify.com/show/00ZWLZaYqQlJji1QSoEz7a https://www.patreon.com/Gettinglumpedup --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rob-rossi/support

Disc Two. Flashback to 2003 - 2007 Day-club Vocal House. For more in this series head to www.markalsop.com . In 2003, a small club opened it's doors underneath the famed JBF building at Taylor Square, Sydney. It's name : Manacle. Within a few months the idea of a Day Club emerged. At first it was slow going and I remember playing to only a few people, but as word spread, all that was to change.Within the next six weeks it quickly became THE place to be. The name Manacle was on everybody's lips and the new Day Club "BENT" was born.People arrived after dancing all night in the nightclubs as well as those that would miss the Saturday nights entertainment along Oxford Street, so that they could awake at 6.30am and be fresh faced for the opening of BENT at 7am on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings.Manacle not only saw the emergence of BENT, but also other regular events like D2D (Dusk@Dawn), Man Hole and Manoeuvres. Throughout the history of Manacle I also became the Friday night resident and saw the birth of an extremely popular night entitled BOYZONE and then the later famed GRUNT.I hope you enjoy this journey back to those days. The double CD was originally entitled UNITY. The triple set was FAITH, HOPE & CHARITY. The earliest recording done in 2003/04 is called League. ALL these releases were only given to friends and the most loyal customers. This is the very first time that they have ever appeared digitally and available on the internet.I sincerely hope you enjoy this Flashback to the music that helped create the most popular and notorious Day Club in Australian history.A special thank you to Andrew Clarke & Stuart Fraser for creating such an amazing piece of Australian Gay history and for also providing the logo!
