Freud believed we were often influenced by memories, traumas and instincts we had repressed, but they influenced our behaviors anyway. He got there by studying hypnosis, analyzing dreams and paying attention to those slips of the tongue that reveal what we try to keep hidden. "No mortal can keep a secret," Freud maintained. "If his lips are silent, he chatters with his fingertips. Betrayal oozes out of him at every pore." Poetic language that. And the idea has weaved its way into our modern psyche. All of us have used that excuse along the way. "Man, I was completely unconscious. What was I thinking?!"The great Brazilian psychoanalyst, Norberto Keppe, has advanced Freud significantly with his concept of inconscientization. It's not that we're naturally full of hidden indecent desires and animal instincts. For Keppe, we banish from our consciousness what we don't want to admit. That means, we know what's going on, but we deny what we know. And that has serious consequences. The Perils of Living Unconsciously, today on Thinking with Somebody Else's Head.Click here to listen to this episode.

In this powerful message, we explore the undeniable link between faith and action, challenging the idea of a passive belief system. Drawing from the book of James and the teachings of Jesus, we delve into what it truly means to live out our faith. We examine the concept that faith without works is dead, and how genuine belief compels us to act with compassion and service towards others. Using examples from scripture and relatable scenarios, we uncover the call to be the "somebody else" in someone else's life, demonstrating the living, active faith that God desires. Join us as we discuss the importance of not just believing, but doing, and how our actions can reflect the love and compassion of Christ to the world around us.
In his latest book, Maxim Furek, a former psychologist and rock journalist, delves into the intriguing world of Bigfoot synchronicity, embracing interdimensional theories, mass hallucinations, and Jung's collective unconscious.Furek's dedication to the subject is evident in the hundreds of accounts from researchers who strive to answer the question, "If it's not flesh and blood, then what is it?"This question forms the heart of the author's evocative thesis as he tirelessly scours American and Canadian records for evidence of this elusive cryptid. For centuries, early newspapers printed accounts of bipedal creatures, variously listed as "Wild Men," "Hairy Giants," or "Sasquatch," a narrative that has expanded into a larger scientific, religious, and paranormal reality. This reality, as Furek presents it, is a complex web of scientific theories, religious interpretations, and paranormal phenomena that intersect in the study of Bigfoot.Furek's investigation into the tribes of true believers congregating at conferences, campsites, and online websites is a testament to their shared philosophy and "Bigfoot's sociocultural energy."He takes issue with hoaxers, whom he charges "have sold their souls," but his respect for the believers is unwavering. The author challenges traditional beliefs about Bigfoot and encourages readers to embrace the seemingly impossible. After reading this book, your perspective on Sasquatch will be forever changed as you look at traditional science, anthropology, and religion through a different lens and with a different expectation."Paranormal author and rock journalist Maxim Furek has emerged as the 21st-century incarnation of John Keel. In "The Lost Tribes of Bigfoot," Furek explores the uncharted waters surrounding the cryptid's forbidden realm in a rousing and controversial exposé."- Doug Hajicek, MonsterQuestMaxim W. There's an old Chinese phrase that goes, "It's better to be a dog in peaceful times than a man in a time of chaos." Wishful thinking, some may call that, for it's difficult to see peaceful times at any moment in human history. Most of us with a bit of life experience hearken back to when times were easier, and end up moralizing to any who will listen that our times back then were superior. And while that may be superficially true, it's not all that helpful. And complaining doesn't make the young fold feel any better. In fact, your and old may just end up pointing fingers at each other as to who's to blame for the world as it is.We'd like to dip our feet into those tumultuous waters in this podcast to suggest that all those lamentations and blame apportioning miss the fundamental point: we've been on an inverted path for millennia. We've reached the end of the road in a literal sense. Can any sense be made of the correct way to go now?Love, Consciousness and the Troubled World, today on Thinking with Somebody Else's Head.Click here to listen to this episode.

In week two of *Somebody Else*, we dive into Jesus's radical approach to love and inclusion. While we tend to stay within our comfort zones—surrounding ourselves with people like us—Jesus broke through every barrier to reach those on the margins. Through the story of the Samaritan woman at the well, we see how Jesus meets us where we are, offering hope, encouragement, and an invitation despite our past. Just like her, there are people around us longing to be seen and valued. How can we step outside our circles and extend the love of Jesus to *somebody else*?
In the kickoff to our new series, Somebody Else, we explore the core of Jesus's mission: loving, serving, and thinking about others. Through powerful stories and scripture, including the Sermon on the Mount and the parable of the Good Samaritan, we uncover what it means to seek God's kingdom and love our neighbors as ourselves. Jesus's radical command to love one another as He loved us challenges us to break down barriers, extend grace, and meet the needs of those around us. Join us as we dive into what it truly means to follow Jesus by putting others first.
I've been in Brazil going on 24 years, using Norberto Keppe's psychotherapeutic methodology in education and communications, and also as a psychoanalyst at Keppe's school. The positive results available to anyone who studies with us and accepts the consciousness that comes through our classes and therapy sessions are noteworthy. From overcoming learning blocks to resolving long-standing or acute personal or professional conflicts to curing from medical conditions, Keppe's on to something.Where Freud initiated psychoanalysis with the idea that neurosis was caused by cultural and moral values, and Jung wanted to integrate our shadow side into our personality, and Alfred Adler helped clients with their feelings of inferiority, Keppe has reached conclusions about the human problematic with his great discovery of inversion. The Final Frontier of the human psyche, and the way to finally understanding ourselves and resolving our greatest problems. Sometimes, when I have something important to do, I must confess I feel a little resistance. It's an interesting phenomenon because it's like a general lethargy. Like the energy has drained away and there's nothing left for the job at hand. In those moments, all sorts of other activities suddenly appear infinitely more appealing. YouTube's a quick click away, and the algorithms have numerous suggestions that seem interesting and even, if I'm honest, urgent. And there's research to be done, too. New equipment for the studio or books on Amazon. And hey, I haven't played my guitar in a while! Not that any of these things are wrong, of course. It's just that they are far from more important than the project I need to work on.Procrastination. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only guy plagued with that.In fact, it's historical. Even St. Paul, prodigious achiever that he was notwithstanding, lamented about that. Let's see if we can get somewhere in looking at this. Why Do I Do the Things I Don't Want, today on Thinking with Somebody Else's Head.Click here to listen to this episode.

Being upside down. Every kid loves that. Being hoisted up by the ankles and hanging there in your father's sure hands with your head where your feet should be.It's great as a game, but none of us could imagine going through life that way.But Norberto Keppe's discovery that humankind is inverted shows us how we are actually living life upside down. Not physically, but philosophically, emotionally and even spiritually. We wage wars to find peace. Science considers apes to be our relatives. We consume billions in pharmaceuticals thinking that'll make us healthy. And what's more, we accept these inversions as if they're workable approaches to living functioning lives. It's not an overstatement, then, to say that the discovery of Inversion is the most important scientific finding of the 20th century. Why it's not more widely known is a phenomenon we're trying to address on our STOP Radio Network with our slogan, "Disinverting the human being and society."So, let's go at it again. Maybe, like me when I first moved to Brazil, you have the idea that metaphysics is a kind of woo-woo field of study. That part of the bookstore with titles like Find Your Soulmate through Channelling, or Unlocking Your Invisible Power. True metaphysics, though, is a branch of philosophy that deals with what's beyond the physical. Those elusive subjects like being and knowing, action and potential. The Greeks knew a thing or two about that, but somewhere along the way, the science of things that transcended the physical got reduced to just the things. Norberto Keppe, the Brazilian psychoanalyst and independent physics researcher, has worked tirelessly to restore a true study of metaphysics - those universals we got from a Creator. Returning us to a transcendental vision of humanity and putting us in touch with God and Creation. We'll look at that today. Metaphysics and the Empty Promise of AI, today on Thinking with Somebody Else's Head. Click here to listen to this program.

Daily Halacha Podcast - Daily Halacha By Rabbi Eli J. Mansour
Is it permissible on Shabbat to separate food to serve it to somebody else? For example, may a mother remove edible food from an inedible substance in order to feed the food to her child? Assuming she follows the ordinary rules of Borer (separating on Shabbat) – meaning, she takes the desirable food from the undesirable substance, and this is done by hand and for immediate use – is this permissible, if she is not the one who will eat the food? The Hida (Rav Haim Yosef David Azulai, 1724-1807), in his work Birkeh Yosef, rules that the rules of Borer apply equally to one who separates food for himself and one who separates food for somebody else. As long as one meets the standard conditions for allowing separating foods, this may be done even to feed another person. The Hida draws proof to this ruling from the Gemara's discussion in Masechet Shabbat (74a) of Rav Bibai, who was serving fruit to the Rabbis on Shabbat, and instead of serving each one individually, he placed the basket in front of them. The Gemara raises the question of why Rav Bibai chose this method, noting that this may have been done simply as an expression of generosity, so that each guest can take as much as he likes. However, the Gemara also raises the possibility that this was done to avoid the issue of Borer. Rav Bibai may have ruled that one may not separate on Shabbat even if he removes the desirable food from the undesirable food, and thus he could not selected fruits from the basket for his guests and had to bring them the entire basket, instead. It is noteworthy that the Gemara did not mention the fact that Rav Bibai would have been separating food for other people, and not for himself. It appears from the Gemara's comments that this was not a factor at all, proving that the standard rules of Borer apply regardless of whether one is separating for himself or for somebody else. The Hida adds that this Halacha applies even if the person who separates the foods is unable to eat the food he is separating, such as if he had recently eaten meat and he is now handling dairy foods. Even in such a case, one may separate the foods for another person, as long as he follows the standard requirements of Borer. This is the ruling of Sephardic Chief Rabbi Shelomo Amar, in his work of responsa, and this is, indeed, the Halacha. Summary: The laws of Borer apply regardless of whether one wishes to separate food for himself or for somebody else. In both cases, separating is allowed if one removes the desirable food from the undesirable substance, and this is done by hand and for immediate use.
My dear friend, Alan Levin, interviewed me for his podcast Crossing the Boundary. I first met Alan in a Ralph Metzner circle, and we have been dear friends for decades now, sharing many, deep transformational moments together both on and off the mat. It was an honor to be featured on his podcast and to share tales of our time together with Ralph. Alan's connection with Ralph predates mine by many years, and it was fun to journey back in time together to reminisce about one of our most important teachers. Here's what Alan wrote in the email he sent out promoting this podcast: Carla and I were in ceremonial spaces together many times with the masterful guide, Ralph Metzner. Metzner's approach to psychedelic ceremonies included what he called “divinations,” purposeful inner journeys for opening to divine guidance and healing. He would take us through mythic realms and lead us through spiritual practices, some of which aimed to heal wounded parts of ourselves and explore our relationship to the physical, psychological and spiritual aspects of male and female consciousness. Through her work as an integration coach and through her podcast series, Psychedelic Divas, Carla supports people in the preparation and integration of psychedelic journeys. She is passing along the legacy of Metzner's wisdom teachings. Her emphasis, as the podcast name makes clear, is on the feminine. While ultimately, we all need to balance the male/female within, the long suppression of the feminine in humanity calls for us to highlight that aspect of our nature. We need an affirmative action focus of our attention on HER for our personal benefit, and for the much-needed transformation of the collective human consciousness. The episode encourages listeners to find silver linings in challenging times and to embrace their collective power. She shares her experiences, highlighting the power of mindset, preparation, and intuition in overcoming challenges and achieving seemingly impossible goals. Key Ideas and Facts: 1. The Power of Mindset and Visualization: Committing fully: Michelle emphasizes the importance of unwavering commitment, both mentally and physically. "It was head and heart coherence. So, you know, I wasn't one foot in, one foot out. It was just all or nothing. I was going to do this do or die." Creating filters: She developed strategies to shield herself from negativity and doubt. She visualized "putting [herself] in a bubble" to deflect negative comments and focus on her own goals. Building a mental toolkit: Michelle relied on resources like the works of Dr. Joe Dispenza and the Silva Mind Control Method to manage anxiety and cultivate a positive mental state. The power of "Why is this happening for me?": She reframed challenges as opportunities for growth and learning. This shift in perspective empowered her to face difficulties head-on. 2. Meticulous Preparation: Immersion in the project: Michelle actively participated in building her boat, gaining intimate knowledge of its structure and capabilities. This deepened her connection to the project and boosted her confidence. Addressing weaknesses: After her Atlantic crossing, Michelle analysed her experience and focused on improving her weaknesses, particularly in hand care and nutrition. Importance of redundancies: She stresses the critical role of backup systems and spare parts for safety and peace of mind. Visual cues and the power of gratitude: To combat loneliness and low moods, Michelle utilized a ribbon with the names of her supporters and focused on feelings of gratitude. 3. Trusting Intuition: The role of intuition in decision-making: she emphasizes the importance of listening to her gut feelings, especially in challenging situations where logic alone wasn't sufficient. Intuition as a reliable guide: Michelle believes intuition, honed through meditation and the Silva Method, guided her safely through unpredictable ocean conditions. 4. Universal Lessons: Embracing discomfort and pushing boundaries: She encourages individuals to step outside their comfort zones and engage in new experiences for personal growth and resilience. The importance of support and vulnerability: While emphasizing self-reliance, Michelle acknowledges the crucial role of her support network and the power of vulnerability in building connections and receiving help. Living a life without regrets: Her overarching message is to seize opportunities, commit fully to one's goals, and strive to "not die wondering." Conclusion: Michelle Lee's incredible ocean rowing adventures offer valuable insights into the power of mindset, preparation, and intuition. Her experiences demonstrate that even seemingly insurmountable challenges can be overcome with dedication, a positive outlook, and a willingness to embrace discomfort and learn from setbacks. https://www.instagram.com/michelleleesolorower/profilecard/ https://www.facebook.com/michelle.mcdonald.31542841 https://www.linkedin.com/in/michellelee-solorower?utm_source=share&utm_campaign=share_via&utm_content=profile&utm_medium=android_app info@dougbeitz.com dougbeitz.com facebook.com/dougbeitz instagram.com/dougbeitz
Are You Living Somebody Else's Dreams? All I have ever wanted to do is have fun, impact people mostly positively, make them laugh, have a great family and friends, make some money, and not take life too seriously. Simple enough. But in the overly complicated and widely distracting monkey-see-monkey-do world, it's easy to get what you want and still end up with a superficially satisfying life. I suggest such a life is easy to achieve and perfect for anybody willing to get out of bed and join the world. Life is averagely good. But what if your inner voice screams, "There MUST be MORE?" Well, there is more. But only if you create it. That may scare you, but it won't if you realize and accept one thing - Someone else has created every single experience you have in your day-to-day life. Somebody else imagined building the city you call home. Somebody else imagined designing the car you drive. Somebody else imagined the phone in your pocket. Somebody else woke up and decided to turn their dreams into reality so that they could live their life inside their dreams. While that may be fine, maybe it's time for you to let others do the same with your dreams. After all, if they can do it, you can do it - right? While there is more I can and will cover on this topic, there are three items that a fully actualized adult can do to create any reality of their choosing: 1) Understand that all success begins with internally motivated actions. You get to decide what you want, and you can lead the way. The only permission required is yours. 2) The happiness and success you attain in life are determined by your ability to mine your thoughts, reveal your inner desires, accept them as your truth, and hold yourself accountable for creating what is essential to you in your life. 3) Every day, you should carefully discern what is important and likely to affect your success, survival, and well-being. Then, narrow the focus to what is necessary and extremely important; essential. When you dedicate daily focus to building such a strong level of inner understanding, you will instantly begin creating your new world—and others can start living inside your dreams. We are 31 days away from election day and, here in North Dakota, the hottest race in the state probably isn't for the U.S. Senate, or the U.S. House, or even the governor's seat. It is, arguably, Measure 4 which, if passed, would eliminate taxes on property values and order the Legislature to compensate local governments for that loss of revenue at 2024 levels. It's such a hot issue that when Prairie Public recently hosted a debate between U.S. Senate candidates Kevin Cramer and Katrina Christiansen, they asked the candidates about Measure 4, even though that issue really has nothing to do with the federal office they're running for. Aaron Birst joined this episode of Plain Talk to discuss Measure 4, and what's driving both the support for it and opposition to it. Aaron is the executive director of the North Dakota Association of Counties. "The only tax people like is the one somebody else pays," he told Chad Oban and I. Birst isn't arguing that there are no problems with local taxing and spending. "Do we need to have a conversation about how much we spend at the local level? Sure," he said, though he argued that Measure 4 just isn't the right fix. "We can try something different. I'm just not sure we're going to find something better," he said. He also argued that passing Measure 4 could create legal and policy-making chaos that would be with North Dakota for a long time. "If this passes...we're probably going to have a decade of court cases to figure out what this means." Also on this episode, Oban and I discuss the recently-released polling in North Dakota's statewide races, and some intrigue at the North Dakota Industrial Commission. SERIES 2 EPISODE 192: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:44) SPECIAL COMMENT: Trump has now floated reinstating the Military Draft. He put the words in the mouth of the last of his Secretaries of Defense and that guy – Christopher Miller who sat back and watched January 6th unfold nearly as much as Trump did – dressed the draft up as “A National Service Requirement.” It seems to be targeted at 18, 19, and 20-year old American boys and girls (and maybe 17-year olds) and it would start with a mandatory military aptitude test administered BY the Pentagon IN your local high school and any kid who refused to take it might be prevented from graduating and any school that hesitated to go along with this would lose ALL federal funding. Trump breaking precedent and using the American army domestically to suppress protests and conceivably kill civilians is not the bottom of the plan for the military-dictatorship part of his dictatorship. Those army soldiers, and marines, and whoever else, firing on other Americans – many of them or most of them or maybe all of them, would be draftees. And when The Washington Post reported it, and the story got no traction and no pick-up at all, and even though the paper reported Trump had not expressly endorsed the draft, within six hours Trump posted an enraged denial reading “In fact, I never even thought of that idea” which even for him is a disastrously transparent non-denial denial. Of course HE never thought of that idea: when has Donald Trump ever thought anything about a military draft – except how to dodge it. Somebody ELSE thought of that idea. The somebody else is that former Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller. The Post interviewed Miller and he said a national service requirement should be “strongly considered. He described the concept as a common “rite of passage,” one that would create a sense of “shared sacrifice” among America's youth." The impact this Washington Post story, could have on Trump's campaign would be nothing short of fatal – if only it were to be handled correctly by BIDEN'S campaign: Trump wants to reinstate the draft. The. DRAFT. Is there a more powerful campaign message than “Trump wants to draft your kids”? “Trump Wants To Force Your Kids To Kill Or Be Killed?” Actually there is. Because the voting age is not what it was in the ‘60s. The 18-year olds vote. There IS a more powerful campaign message and it is “Trump wants to draft YOU. Trump Wants To Force YOU to Kill or Be Killed.” ALSO: Trump's felony conviction means he can't own a gun in Florida. So why has he had one longer than Hunter Biden had his? And what about Washington State's law allowing any voter to challenge any candidate's ballot position if he's been convicted of a felony? And why is Alvin Bragg voluntarily appearing at Jim Jordan's hearing - the day after Trump will be sentenced? B-Block (25:20) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: A Twitter follower of mine puts Chris Cillizza and Nate Silver in the same tweet just to mess with me. Jonathan Martin, who has spent a year talking about nothing but Joe Biden's age, complains that nobody has talked about Joe Biden's age (and works Aaron Sorkin into it, somehow) and the Republican who wants to be Senator from Minnesota, Royce White, explains the campaign funds may have been spent AT the all-nude strip club but that doesn't mean they were spent on STRIPPERS since they serve FOOD at all-nude strip clubs. C-Block (34:00) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: As I read of Stephen A. Smith demanding that ESPN pay him more than it pays Pat McAfee, I flashed back to the days when the studio-show audiences there were way more profitable than they are now and ESPN was make $60 million a year from SportsCenter and they were paying me $300,000 and I asked for $3,000,000. Oh the look on their faces delights me to this day. How I Quit SportsCenter...See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We kick things off with a whimsical tangent about "sacred chickens" - those unquestioned assumptions and mythologies that societies cling to, even in the face of contradictory evidence. This leads to a deeper discussion about the concept of "phenomenology" and how subjective experience of reality can be manipulated (see Fox News). From there, we dive deep into one of America's most pernicious "sacred chickens" - the racist "birther" conspiracy theory that falsely claimed former President Barack Obama was not born in the United States. And we examine how it gained traction, in large part due to the relentless promotion by Donald Trump and, more importantly, by the relentless desire of CNN and other mainstream outlets to let Trump on their airwaves to promote his racist (and lie-filled) "investigations." While Trump's championing of this fantasy was an early glimpse into his comfort level with trafficking in racism and misinformation for perceived political gain, it was also a glimpse into just how willfully blind the media is to right-wing manipulation, especially if it means they can "both-sides" a presidency for both balance AND ratings. The Republican party establishment's refusal to reject birtherism set the stage for the party's further embrace of conspiracy theories and "alternative facts" in subsequent years under Trump. The episode is a timely examination of how racism, xenophobia, and phenomenological distortions can be weaponized for political purposes with damaging consequences.More at proleftpod.com.Support the show:PayPal | https://paypal.me/proleftpodcastPatreon | https://patreon.com/proleftpodOur YouTube ChannelOpening and Closing Music:Jumpin Boogie Woogie by Audionautix | http://audionautix.com/|Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0Free Download / Stream: https://bit.ly/jumpin-boogie-woogieMusic promoted by Audio Library | https://youtu.be/S2wYQlC0UsSupport the Show.
