Side A des Mixtapes: Georg Kreisler - Der Musikkritiker Bob Dylan - Ballad of a Thin Man Pet Shop Boys - Your Early Stuff The Clash - Garageland Guns´n ´Roses - Get in the Ring Christoph und Lollo - Musikbusiness

Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 10ú lá de mí Iúil, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1981 bhí timpeall 3,500 fear bus chun a bheith ar an dól. I 1987 bhí a lán daoine ag déanamh na scrúdaithe an bhliain seo agus de bharr sin cheap siad go mbeadh na torthaí ag teach amach déanach. I 1971 ní rinne siad tástáil ar an bhainne nó níor thóg siad an meáchan sna uachtarlainn sa chontae. I 1987 bhí níos mó ná 300 post nua sa tionscal seirbhíse sa tSionainn. Sin The Pet Shop Boys le It's A Sin – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1987 Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1989 chúisigh David F Pearsall a raibh aois 18 ó Manchain de bharr gur ghoid sé giotár de Richie Sambora de Bon Jovi ag ceolchoirm. I 2012 thug An Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Slash ó Guns N' Roses réalta ar an Hollywood Walk of Fame. Dúirt Charlie Sheen go raibh sé oiriúnach go mbeadh réalta aige ar an tsráid go mbeadh Axl Rose ag coladh air I gceann tamall. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh amhránaí Jason Orange sa Bhreatain I 1970 agus rugadh amhránaí Imelda May in Éirinn ar an lá seo I 1974 agus seo chuid de amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 10th of July, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1981: 3,500 busmen were to face dole. 1987: record exam rush was to leave results a little late. 1971: Milk wasnt tested or weighed at clare creameries. 1987: there was a 300 job service industry breakthrough for shannon. That was The Pet Shop Boys with It's A Sin – the biggest song on this day in 1987 Onto music news on this day In 1989 David F Pearsall age 18 from Manchester, New Jersey was charged with theft after stealing a guitar at a concert in Riverfront Park belonging to Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi. 2012 The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce honoured Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Master of ceremonies at the event actor Charlie Sheen commented, "It seems quite fitting that Slash is getting a star on the very street Axl Rose will one day be sleeping on." And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – singer Jason Orange was born in the UK in 1970 and singer Imelda May was born in Ireland on this day in 1974 and this is one of her songs. John welcomes Andrew Sullivan—former editor of The New Republic, first-wave blogger, current Substacker, pioneering gay marriage advocate, #BritishGayCatholicConservative public intellectual, and controversy magnet for nearly 40 years—to discuss the Trump 2.0 era and Sullivan's recent New York Times op-ed, “How the Gay Rights Movement Radicalized and Lost its Way.” Sullivan argues that Trump is less an aspiring dictator than a wannabe monarch; that, even so, his enthusiasm for state terror tactics is ominously authoritarian; and that the gay rights movement has gone astray with its embrace of the trans agenda. Sullivan also explains his adoration of Pet Shop Boys, and why “Being Boring” is their greatest song. It's Gay Pride (in America)! To commemorate iconic homosexual musician George Michael in the week of what would have been his 62nd birthday, and for our fifth annual Pride episode in the last week of Pride MONTH, Matt takes a look at the enduring cultural impact of George Michael's song Father Figure, and the idea that, as eminent American producer, Dick Clark once put it “Music is the soundtrack of your life.” And from there, Matt talks about how George Michael's music helped him as a small boy to re-discover the fun of pop music, and maybe even life, after the sudden death of his father. It's an episode about a whole lot of things, it runs a slim, almost 27 minutes (a commute!), and it includes Liza Minnelli, Stephen Sondheim, and The Pet Shop Boys in a small but reassuring way.Subscribe to our substack hereFollow us on Instagram hereFollow Matt Phillp hereFollow Erin Hosier hereFollow Elizabeth Thompson here This is a public episode. Ohrenmassagenstammkund:innen wissen schon, was folgt, nämlich eine nostalgische Zeitreise, diesmal ins Jahr 2002.

Released in October 1990, Behaviour is the fourth studio album by British synth-pop duo Pet Shop Boys. Often regarded as their most introspective and mature work, the album marked a shift from the high-energy dance-pop of their earlier records to a more subdued, melodic, and reflective sound.Produced in collaboration with Harold Faltermeyer, Behaviour is characterized by warm analog synthesizers and lush orchestration, which complement the melancholic and thoughtful lyrical themes. Tracks like “Being Boring,” a nostalgic meditation on youth and loss, and “This Must Be the Place I Waited Years to Leave,” a tale of regret and disillusionment, exemplify the album's emotional depth. Despite its more restrained tone, the record still features infectious moments of pop brilliance, such as “So Hard” and “Jealousy.”Critically acclaimed for its sophisticated songwriting and emotional resonance, Behaviour has grown in stature over the years and is often cited by fans and critics alike as one of Pet Shop Boys' finest and most enduring works. What did you think of this album? In the second half of their Discography double bill, Graham and Chris dive “Double In Depth” into the remaining nine tracks. The Introspective singles take them raving with Frankie Knuckles and the dawn of Acid House, while Behaviour sees them smoking about cigarettes and harping on about harps. There's even chance for them to show off Graham's amateur percussion skills, and Chris's even more amateur language pronunciation skills. C'est la vida é!

I 1970 ceadaíodh scéim draenáil ón comhairle contae an chláir agus an chomhairle uirbeach d'Inis leis an chostas 645 míle punt. I 1980 d'oscail an scoil speisialta St Anne's an tseachtain roimhe agus d'oscail an aire stáit ag An Roinn Oideachais. Sin The Pet Shop Boys le Always On My Mind – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1988. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1970 tháinig The Beatles amach lena 12ú halbam agus a albam deireanach darbh ainm Let It Be. Chuaigh an t-albam chuig uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain agus d'fhan sé ann ar feadh trí sheachtain. Bhí amhráin ar an albam cosúil le The Long And Winding Road, Across The Universe agus Let It Be. I 2000 d'oscail an cheoldráma Up For Grabs I Londain sa Wyndham's Theatre agus bhí Madonna sa phríomh ról. Ar an chéad oíche bhí daoine ag gearán nach raibh sí go maith ag canadh agus nach raibh siad ábalta í a chloisteáil agus í ag labhairt. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh James Charles I Meiriceá I 1999 agus rugadh amhránaí Lena sa Ghearmáin ar an lá seo I 1991 agus seo chuid de amhrán. That was The Pet Shop Boys with Always On My Mind – the biggest song on this day in 1988 Onto music news on this day In 1970 The Beatles 12th and final studio album 'Let It Be' started a three week run at No.1 on the UK chart, featuring 'The Long And Winding Road', 'Across The Universe' and the title track. 2002 'Up For Grabs' opened at London's Wyndham's Theatre featuring Madonna in the lead role. The first night crowd complained that the singer was lacking in vocal power and strained to hear her lines. Whether it's a catastrophe or a bourgeois construct, Pet Shop Boys have much to say on love. And so do Graham and Chris - first putting their own love for the band under the microscope to try and uncover where love becomes obsession. Then comes the lyrical deep-dive, unpicking all the ways Neil “Man of Mystery” Tennant crafts a love song, before Chris “Intense Urges” Lowe derails things and we all need to go for a cold shower. Plus: there's a high-stakes middle bit where two straight middle-aged men talk about sexuality, and a more familiar climax where they compile the ultimate Pet Shop Boys love album: Slush. In this episode of In the Key of Q, Dan Hall speaks with Ben McGarvey, who performs as Minute Taker. Ben's music is characterized by a signature blend of retro synth-pop, haunting piano melodies, and emotionally charged lyrics that explore the depth of human experience.Episode SummaryBen opens up about the origins of his stage name "Minute Taker" – a reference to his former day job that created an ironic contrast with his artistic identity. He describes it as "simultaneously mundane and otherworldly," reflecting the dual nature of his creative life. The conversation traverses Ben's musical evolution from a teenager in the 90s who was drawn to 80s synth music to his current work creating atmospheric, emotionally resonant songs. Ben reflects on how living in rural Shropshire as a young gay man shaped his relationship with music as a form of escape and self-expression.Throughout the episode, Ben courageously discusses his experiences with depression and how this has informed the melancholic quality of his music. Rather than viewing this melancholia as something negative, he explores how it can be "so beautiful" and serves as a connective tissue between artist and listener.Key Moments02:59 - Ben discusses his musical influences growing up, including Kate Bush, Pet Shop Boys, Tori Amos, and PJ Harvey07:47 - Reflections on growing up as a gay child in rural Britain during the Section 28 era09:35 - Ben shares his early songwriting experiences and how music became a form of escape16:46 - Discussion about representation and the importance of addressing songs explicitly to men22:46 - Ben speaks candidly about his experiences with depression and how it manifests24:44 - The evolution of Ben's work into audiovisual projects, including his concept album exploring gay men's lives throughout history28:32 - Details about his upcoming album "The Oblivion," inspired by Blade Runner and 80s sounds34:20 - Information about Ben's subscription service for fans to access exclusive musicGuest BioBen McGarvey is a Manchester-based musician who performs under the name Minute Taker. His most recent album "Wolf Hours" included an accompanying visual narrative, and he's currently finishing his new album "The Oblivion."Gateway TrackBen recommends "Lead You Home," the opening track from his album "Wolf Hours," as the perfect introduction to his music. The song encapsulates his recent musical direction with its melancholic, synthy, and atmospheric qualities while remaining catchy. Phil Harding had his hands in as many hits in the 80s/90s as anyone you care to mention. We will only concern ourselves with the better decade as we look into his career as producer/engineer and mixer.1. THE EARLY YEARS (Pre-1980-83)How Phil got into the business in the 70s, working with the likes of Gerry Rafferty (Baker Street!), The Walker Brothers (No Regrets!) and The Clash (White Man in Hammersmith Palais!), etc.Phil moves into the 80s with KIlling Joke and a very unique contribution to Sign of The Times by The Belle Stars. There is discussion on the differences (and similarities) between mixing pop and rock.2. MATT BIANCO/BASIA (1984-88)Working with Peter Collins leads to engineering Matt Bianco's first album which leads to Phil producing the follow up and mixing Basia's first solo LP. Through Peter connections are made with Pete Waterman.General chat on Phil's approach to mixing a track.3. STOCK AITKEN AND WATERMAN (PT 1) (1983-87)Phil enters the world of SAW. Talk of who did what within the team and experiences with Lamont Dozier, Princess, Mel & Kim and early Rick Astley.Further talk on who had "Woolworth's ears" and why SAW didn't produce Pet Shop Boys.4. DEAD OR ALIVE (1986-88)Let's face it, this section is almost exclusively about You Spin Me Round, the first SAW number one and an iconic 80s hit.5. BANANARAMA (1986-88)Working on Venus, Bananarama wanted the Spin-Me-Round hi NRG treatment, leading to a number of massive pop hits.  Also discussed is the Bananarama vocal approach and how it was decided who at the Hit Factory worked on what.EITHER/OR | Does Phil have the Terminator listen to Prince on his ghettoblaster or Robocop listen to MJ on his walkman?Phil can be found Website: philhardingmusic.comTwitter: @phardingmusicFacebook: Phil Harding80sography@gmail.comSend us a text

Years later, founding member Neil Tennant dubbed this streak of creative and commercial supremacy the group's “imperial phase”—a term that eventually caught on among music critics and pop fans. So, what does it take for an artist to achieve imperial dominance? Why might Fleetwood Mac in the 1970s or The Weeknd in the 2010s qualify, while Cher or Lizzo don't quite fit the bill?
