He emphasises the need for churches to connect with Jesus and grow as disciples who can help others. Delaney explores the concept of aloneness and how relationships can alleviate it, drawing on the parable of the Good Samaritan. John Campione (Associate Pastor of Pastoral Care), "Life-Changing Moments", Children's Time, Modern Worship Praise Team (11:15 Service). 1. In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. 2. Above it stood seraphim; each one had six wings: with two he covered his face, with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3. And one cried to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!” 4. And the posts of the door were shaken by the voice of him who cried out, and the house was filled with smoke. 5. So I said: “Woe is me, for I am [a]undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, he Lord of hosts.” 6. Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having in his hand a live coal which he had taken with the tongs from the altar. 7. And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin [b]purged.” 8. Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:1-8 NKJV)

Pastors provide spiritual guidance, but there are times when counseling crosses into territory best handled by trained professionals. In this episode, Josh and Sam explore the limits of pastoral care—when ethical, legal, and practical concerns make it necessary to refer someone elsewhere. From mental health crises to marital conflicts beyond a pastor's expertise, knowing when to step back is crucial for both the pastor and the person seeking help. We'll discuss red flags, healthy boundaries, and how pastors can support without overstepping. Join Kosta and his guest: Steve Chatman, Vice President of Ministry Advancement and Pastoral Care at Rising Above Ministries and Co-Host of the Rising Above Dad's podcast. In this episode: In the Upper Cumberland alone there are more than 70,000 individuals living with special needs. Putnam County Schools averages 1 in 5 students has an IEP. This isn't a fringe demographic, it's a defined segment of our community. With all this in mind, why are there not more resources, opportunities and infrastructure created specifically for the over 20% of individuals in this community and state that live with special needs? You've worked with families for over 30 years. As the old saying goes, no family is perfect. What's a universal piece of advice you've found to be true for both families supporting a member with special needs and those who are not? How has your life changed for the better since having children with special needs? On this episode of This vs. That, we explore the critical distinction between pastoral care and counseling with Dr. Jeremy Pierre. We dive into how these two forms of care overlap and where they differ, examining the unique role each plays in the spiritual formation of believers. Drawing from his 22 years of experience as both a pastor and professor, Dr. Pierre helps us understand how counseling serves as a specific tool within the broader context of pastoral care. We discuss why counseling is "problem-initiated" rather than just one-on-one discipleship, and explore how churches can effectively partner with counseling organizations while maintaining the primacy of the local church.-----We're really excited to tell you about Anchored Virtual's new podcast, Consult the Counselor. In this episode, Mike speaks with Dr Pamela MacRae, Professor of Ministry to Women and Ministry to Victims of Sexual Exploitation at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. With decades of experience in local church ministry and nearly twenty years teaching at Moody, Dr MacRae offers thoughtful insight on how preachers can communicate the Bible with clarity and care - particularly when speaking to congregations that are often more than half women.Pam reflects on the first time she taught the Bible, how she has grown as a communicator, and what bad habits she has worked to leave behind. She and Mike also discuss her chapter How Women Hear the Sermon from The Moody Handbook of Preaching, exploring the dynamics of how women engage with preaching and what opportunities and challenges that presents. The conversation also touches on a class she teaches called Pastoral Care of Women, which equips male pastoral students to preach and minister more thoughtfully to the women in their churches. She offers advice to male pastors and preachers - particularly those from complementarian settings - on how to serve the women in their churches with greater attentiveness and understanding. This episode is a valuable conversation for anyone serious about teaching the Bible faithfully to the whole church.Recommended resources: Shepherding Women in Pain: Real Women, Real Issues, and What You Need to Know to Truly HelpBeverly Hislophttps://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7944332-shepherding-women-in-pain Worthy: Celebrating the Value of WomenBy Elyse Fitzpatrick and Eric Schumacher :https://elysefitzpatrick.com/book/worthy-celebrating-the-value-of-women/ Cheer Her On interview with Dr MacRae:https://open.spotify.com/episode/7HeHAKwRTwTYESbPres1bq?si=fc0f8cffa8764a78 Register for our next in person training event August 22-23, 2025 St Petersburg, Florida Calvary Chapel St. Petersburghttps://expositorscollective.org/gatherings/The Expositors Collective podcast is part of the CGNMedia, Working together to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and plant churches.
