"When You Believe in God but Worry All the Time" explores how chronic worry among believers reflects a lack of trust in God. So many of us have a restless soul. We are always searching but never finding. We are interested in everything, but satisfied by nothing. Worry is futile and harmful. Believers must surrender anxiety, focus on what they can control, and trust God's provision in order to their deepen faith.
"When You Believe in God but Trust More in Money" addresses Christians who claim to trust God but prioritize money for security and happiness. Jesus teaches that your heart follows your treasure and you cannot serve both God and money. The love of money, not money itself, leads to evil (1 Timothy 6:10). Wealth often fosters trust in money over God, especially in affluent societies. True peace comes from surrendering all to God, and honoring Him with everything through prayer.
"When You Believe in God but Pursue Happiness Your Way" considers how believers choose joy in God despite dire circumstances. Happiness is not tied to external conditions, is a deliberate choice, and is found in God alone. Scriptures like Philippians 4:4 affirm joy is always possible through faith. This focus on God offers eternal hope through salvation in Jesus.
"When You Believe in God but Aren't Sure He Loves You" explores the struggles of believers who grapple with doubts about God's love and presence despite their faith. Pastor Robert investigates several biblical insights that address the doubts and insecurities which can plague believers, particularly the fear that God may not truly love them.
"When You Believe in God but Don't Think He's Fair" is a common struggle among Christians who question God's fairness in the face of life's injustices. Personal pain, loss, or unanswered prayers can lead to doubts about God's fairness, causing believers to live as if He isn't trustworthy. But God's fairness is not about equal outcomes but about us trusting in Him for salvation and trusting in His greater plan.
Pastor Robert begins our new sermon series with "When You Believe in God but Don't Really Know Him," and introduces the concept of a "Christian Atheist"—someone who believes in God but lives as if He doesn't exist. Mere belief in God is insufficient. Authentic Christians must move beyond intellectual acknowledgment to a relational, authentic faith, fostering a life aligned with God's presence and guidance.

Stephen Schwartz (stephenschwartz.com) was born in New York City on March 6, 1948. He studied piano and composition at the Juilliard School of Music while in high school and graduated from Carnegie Mellon University in 1968 with a B.F.A. in Drama. Upon coming back to live in New York City, he went to work as an A&R producer for RCA Records, but shortly thereafter began to work in the Broadway theatre. His first major credit was the title song for the play BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE; the song was eventually used in the movie version as well. In 1971, he wrote the music and new lyrics for GODSPELL, for which he won two Grammys among other awards. This was followed by the English texts, in collaboration with Leonard Bernstein, for Bernstein's MASS, which opened the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. The following year, he wrote the music and lyrics for PIPPIN, and two years later, THE MAGIC SHOW. At one point, GODSPELL, PIPPIN and THE MAGIC SHOW were all running on Broadway simultaneously. He next wrote the music and lyrics for THE BAKER'S WIFE, followed by a musical version of Studs Terkel's WORKING, to which he contributed four songs and which he also adapted and directed, winning a Drama Desk Award as best director. He also co-directed the television production, which was presented as part of the PBS “American Playhouse” series. Other work for the musical theatre includes lyrics to RAGS (music by Charles Strouse), music and lyrics for CHILDREN OF EDEN, and two musicals produced overseas, MIT EVENTYR (MY FAIRY TALE) in Denmark and SCHIKANEDER in Austria. He has also written songs for two musicals for young audiences, CAPTAIN LOUIE and MY SON, PINOCCHIO. Compilation revues of his work include SNAPSHOTS and, for Princess Cruise Lines, MAGIC TO DO. For film, he collaborated with composer Alan Menken on the songs for Disney's POCAHONTAS, for which he received two Academy Awards and another Grammy, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, and ENCHANTED. He also provided songs for DreamWorks' first animated feature, THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, for which he won another Academy Award for the song “When You Believe.” THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and THE PRINCE OF EGYPT have both been adapted for the stage. Mr. Schwartz's most recent stage musical, WICKED, opened in the fall of 2003 and is currently running on Broadway and in several other productions around the world. He received another Grammy for the cast recording, and in 2008, WICKED reached its 1900th performance on Broadway, making Mr. Schwartz the only songwriter in Broadway history ever to have three shows run more than 1900 performances. His first opera, SEANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON, premiered at Opera Santa Barbara in the fall of 2009 and was subsequently produced by New York City Opera. His frequently-performed choral works include “Testimony”, based on the It Gets Better Project, “Keramos” and part of the “Tyler Clemente Suite.” He has also released two singer/songwriter CDs, RELUCTANT PILGRIM and UNCHARTED TERRITORY. Mr. Schwartz has been awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2015, he received the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award for his humanitarian and mentorship contributions to the theatre. A book about his career, “Defying Gravity,” has been released by Applause Books. Under the auspices of the ASCAP Foundation, he has been the artistic director of musical theatre workshops in New York and Los Angeles for over twenty years, as well as conducting workshops for aspiring musical theatre writers and performers in countries around the world, including Australia, Germany, Latvia and Kenya. He is also a past President and current Council Member of the Dramatists' Guild.

MOVIE DISCUSSION: Melanie joins Melvin in discussing one of her all time favorite flicks, and the two also get into what makes The Prince of Egypt far more palatable than most Bible or Christian-marketed media. Topics:(PATREON EXCLUSIVE) 42-minutes discussing a list of movies Christian's say are commonly known by other Christians such as Nacho Libre, The Book of Eli, and many others, and why we think they may be popular in the Christian community (PATREON EXCLUSIVE)What familiarity do Melanie and Melvin have with the Book of Exodus?John 1:1 makes it clear by stating that God's word is God Himself, as Christ also is God and therefore also God's word. So, when we create adaptions, we add degrees and opportunities for loss in translation when God's word is already authentic and reliable. This is a deeply important reality necessary for engaging in Biblical or Christian-marketed media: it is degrees away from God's literal word.Moses' character, strangely, is sort of depicted as a combination between Jacob and Moses. Other historical figures such as Aaron and Miriam, Moses' brother and sister are also depicted differently from Scripture.Getting into what's likely most memorable for people: the music!Melanie riffs on the closing song "When You Believe" and how it's full of platitudes. The Prince of Egypt stands apart from other Biblical or Christian-marketed materials, and the two discuss why that may be.The Prince of Egypt is already a mature PG family flick, but Melvin feels it would have been benefitted by being a little nastier.Recommendations:The Case for Christ (2017) (Movie)Beetlejuice (1988) (Movie)Support the showSupport on Patreon for Unique Perks!

When You Believe in God But Aren't Sure He Loves You John Fanous - (Sunday March, 26)
WHEN YOU BELIEVE,IT PRODUCES RESULTS.
"All things are possible to him that believeth" (Mk. 9:23 KJV). This is a tremendous promise with far-reaching implications. However, what does it mean to believe? Faith is not a constant. It means different things to different people. Certainly it is a fundamental mind power that is basic to the realization of prosperity. But we need to get a clear awareness of the faith process and how to set it to work for us. When Jesus said "to him that believeth," it is normally presumed that he meant to one who believes in God. The religion of many persons consists simply in a profession of "I believe in God," though they rarely bother to ask themselves what they mean by God. The whole Universe of innate substance is centered in you. There is nothing you can do to add to that or take away from it. And this centering, as far as God is concerned, is the same in all persons. That leads to the inescapable thought-shocking conclusion that the Universe was no more centered in Jesus than it is in you. Of course, that doesn't explain the quite obvious difference. Jesus in his disciplined consciousness was centered in the Source, while we are usually centered in various levels of limitation. However, Jesus clearly said that you can do all that he did if you can believe, if you can center yourself in the creative flow, as he was always so centered. This suggests an excellent definition for the word faith, consciousness centered in the universal Source. Religious teachings and teachers have conditioned us to think of faith as a magic catalyst that makes God work for us. In no way does faith make God work nor does it release some kind of miracle power. Faith simply tunes into and turns on the divine flow that has always been present. #004. Children of the Holocaust lost their innocence long before arriving at a concentration camp. It was a journey of sometimes small, sometimes big, terrible moments. For guest Michael Gruenbaum, the journey began at age 8, when he watched a Jewish couple leap to their death from their apartment balcony as the Nazis marched into Prague on March 15th, 1939. With many stops along the way, Michael completed that journey in May of 1945 when a train arrived in Terezin from Holocaust. The train door opened, and "the girl with the beautiful red hair" called out to him: "Meesha! Meesha! It's me, Inke!" He would never be the same, and either will you when you hear Michael recount this and other heart wrenching - yet hopeful - experiences. He reads excerpts from his compelling book Somewhere There is Still A Sun. This episode will move you, inspire you, and transform you. This episode features the Pennsylvania Girlchoir and Keystone State Boychoir singing Stephen Schwartz' 1999 Academy Award winning song, "When You Believe," from the soundtrack of the Prince of Egypt. It's powerful lyric, "though hope is frail it's hard to kill," is fitting as we discover that in the place of the loss of innocence, Michael reached for hope.
