Today on Bold Steps, Pastor Mark Jobe shows us how to live in contrast to the dark world around us. The moon has no light source of its own, yet it shines bright in the evening skies because it reflects the sun’s light. And that’s how we should be living as believers, too … reflecting the Son (S-O-N’s) light and love onto the world around us. We’ll be turning back to the book of Ephesians … Mark has reminded us that we need to watch our words and guard our relationships, and in today’s message, he’ll show us how to live in contrast to the dark world around us. We’re learning more about Choosing to Walk in the Light … today on Bold Steps with Pastor Mark Jobe. As we move forward in our study from the book of Ephesians, we’re going to be turning to chapter 5 to pick up on our message titled, Choosing to Walk in the Light. Last time, Mark emphasized how our desires in our relationships and how we speak to one another should reflect our new identity and calling in Christ. And today, he’ll will give us a recap before addressing his second point about how what you value will shape your life. Today on Bold Steps with Pastor Mark Jobe … learn how you can reflect the identity of your heavenly Father for all to see, as we turn to the book of Ephesians, chapter 5. Paul gives us a seemingly difficult command to “Be imitators of God”. How are we supposed to do that? What does it mean? The answer is ... we imitate God as His dearly loved children. Just like we tend to imitate our parents, we are also children of God, so we should live like it! Scripture: Ephesians 5:3-14
Pastor's Sermon Series, Audio Study Guide, Northwood Baptist Church
We sin. We experience darkness. We have no way out.. except for the light of the world, Jesus Christ. He took our place and made it so that we have a way to be in God's holy presence in heaven and walk in His light right now.
Ephesians 5:3-21 Paul warns Christians of behaviors. Not a hint of sexual immorality Matthew 5:32 1 Corinthians 5:1 Evil behaviors have bad consequences. God's way is better. Living together/playing house Marriage is God's perfect answer to sexual sin. The good news about marriage is God calls us to cleanness. Romans 1:24; Matthew 23:27-28 Greed isn't the way. Jeremiah 22:17 Vulgar speech is prohibited. Divisive and foolish talk should be removed. Titus 3:8- 11 Coarse jesting is wrong. Awake, Oh Sleeper! What will you choose? You can be wise and ready or foolish and unprepared. The post Ephesians Part 9: Walk in the Light first appeared on Living Hope.
The apostle John addresses a vital question: can someone truly encounter Jesus and remain unchanged? According to John, the answer is no—those who genuinely know Christ will walk in the light. That means acknowledging sin, not denying it, and trusting in Jesus as our advocate and atoning sacrifice. Confession is not a sign of failure but evidence of spiritual life. Through it, we are restored to fellowship with God and others. John's message assures believers that a changed life is not the root of salvation, but the fruit. This should lead to confidence in salvation and a desire to proclaim the gospel to a dark and broken world.
He is the light. You get closer to Him. You'd be surprised what it will do for your life. Isaiah 2:1-5; Come Let Us Walk in the Light of the Lord; Bennie Tomberlin. Scripture read by Roger Niccum.
Walk In the LightGod calls His people to walk in his light so they can be a light for others who are in darkness. In Isaiah's time, God challenged His people to be an example to the surrounding nations, even as a rising global superpower posed a serious threat. This five-week sermon series explores the metaphor of following God's light and being a light for others through the writings of Isaiah.

A homily delivered by Fr. Michael Maximous at St. Basil American Coptic Orthodox Church on May 18, 2025
So many people walk through life half-awake—lulled by the comforts and distractions of a dark world. But Ephesians 5 sounds an urgent alarm: Wake up. Rise up. Christ will shine on you. In this powerful message, we're reminded that living for Christ isn't about striving to create light in ourselves—it's about turning toward the Light that has already come. Steve McKenzie calls us to stop settling for the shadows and to live as children of light, reflecting God's goodness, righteousness, and truth in a world desperate for hope. If you've been feeling spiritually sleepy or stuck, this sermon is a call to return, to turn your heart fully toward Jesus—and to shine.
Rev. Dr. Dean Courtier 'Go! And Walk in the Light of Jesus' at Estuary Elim Online.
Are you truly walking in the light, or just standing near it? In this powerful message, Bro. David Wilson emphasizes the importance of living a life of holiness and staying in the light of God, as revealed through Jesus Christ. Drawing from 1 John 1:5-7, he explains that light in the Bible represents truth and holiness, and that walking in this light is essential for maintaining fellowship with God and one another. Bro. Wilson challenges believers—especially young Christians—to go beyond routine church activities and commit to a personal relationship with Jesus. He also warns against being lukewarm in faith, reminding us that true transformation comes through the power of Jesus' blood. The key lesson from this sermon? Living in holiness is not just a calling—it's the only way to truly walk with God and experience His presence. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. [12] The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. [13] Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. [14] But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. Sunday, February 16, 2025 – We continue our study of 1 John, and Pastor Mike has titled the message “Walk in the Light.” In this discussion, we will see that God truly desires a relationship with us rather than just a form of religion concerning Him. Our text is 1 John 1:5-10. He begins by making it clear to his readers that the message he is sharing comes directly from Jesus; this is not something John is making up on his own in the moment. He then declares something very interesting about God: He says God is light, and there is no darkness in Him. Of all the characteristics of God, isn't it fascinating that John emphasizes that God is light over other descriptions? Why is light so significant? That’s what we’ll discuss in this week’s message. Light reveals things hidden in darkness. John clearly states in this letter and also in the Gospel of John that men love darkness because their deeds are evil, and they hate the light. They despise the light because they are afraid of having their deeds exposed. But remember, the reason God’s light exposes sin is so that men can be forgiven if they would only seek it. God’s promise is to forgive all those who ask. Worship and study with us as we walk in the Light.

In Jesus' last public address to the crowds, he claims to have an intimate, one-of-a-kind relationship with the Father and he invites people to believe in the light and walk in the light. Most of the people continue on the same path and are actually hardened in their unbelief, while others wrestle with just how closely they want to be associated with Jesus.
