The Rizz Show crew proves once again that no topic is too ridiculous for a deep dive. This episode of the comedy podcast kicks off with a surprisingly serious debate about the band KISS. With their iconic face paint, costumes, and theatrical stage shows, the question becomes unavoidable: are they technically clowns? The gang breaks down Gene Simmons' own comments about the makeup while arguing whether rock legends can also be considered circus performers. From there, the conversation takes a turn toward romance… or at least what passes for romance in modern times.A new survey reveals that a huge percentage of people have dedicated bedroom playlists, which naturally leads the show down a rabbit hole of questionable “sexy songs.” The crew reacts to the list — featuring artists like Ed Sheeran, Ginuwine, and Boyz II Men — while sharing stories about middle school dances, awkward slow songs, and why some music choices may actually ruin the mood instead of improving it.But the real chaos begins when the show starts discussing the hidden meanings behind common dating phrases. When someone says “let's just be friends,” do they mean it literally? What about “I'm fine”? The gang attempts to decode the subtle language people use in relationships — with Lern providing the much-needed female perspective while the guys attempt (and mostly fail) to interpret the signals. And then the conversation hits the internet's most uncomfortable hypothetical.A viral question asks couples what they would do if a DNA test revealed they were secretly related. Would you stay together if you discovered your spouse was your cousin? What about a sibling? The crew debates every scenario imaginable, from accidental cousin marriages to the complicated family tree math that comes with it.Naturally, things escalate quickly as the gang tries to figure out what that would mean for kids, genetics, and whether your child would technically also be your niece or nephew. Yes… the conversation goes there.By the end of the episode, the show has explored rock band clowns, questionable romantic playlists, relationship psychology, and some truly confusing family genetics — which is pretty much exactly what you expect from a chaotic comedy podcast like this one.If you enjoy sarcastic humor, weird news, pop culture commentary, and completely unhinged debates between friends, this episode delivers everything you love about a daily comedy podcast.Follow The Rizzuto Show → https://linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → https://1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Many of us know the classic song “End of the Road” by Boyz II Men and assume it is a heartbreaking love song. But a closer look at the lyrics reveals a more troubling story: it is about a person who cannot let go of a relationship that was unfaithful and toxic. The song portrays someone stuck in a delusion, clinging to what was, even though it was painful and unhealthy. This is not romantic; it is a tragedy that keeps people from moving forward into freedom and healing. This feeling of being stuck is not limited to romantic partners. We all have “exes” in our lives. An ex can be a job you poured everything into that never valued you, a mindset that no longer fits who you are becoming, or a season of life that has ended. The tragedy occurs when we struggle to accept that what once was is no longer, and we remain tethered to the past, unable to walk into our next chapter. This is precisely where we find the people of God in Deuteronomy 2. After years of wandering in circles, God declares that it is time to move on. He says, “You have been skirting this hill country long enough. Head north.” It is go time.

Ian Von sits down with multi-hyphenate artist Trevor Jackson for a raw, high-energy conversation about passion, artistry, and survival through creativity. They trace Trevor's journey from tap-dancing kid in Indianapolis to Broadway's The Lion King, Disney, Grown-ish, Superfly, and his evolution into a fearless, genre-blending recording artist. Trevor opens up about how acting and music are “survival tools” that keep him sane, why effort and passion are frowned upon in this era, and how he's determined to bring them back front and center. He breaks down the real-life heartbreak and physical injury that birthed his new three-part project, starting with the EP I Love You, and why he calls the full album “I Love You, Goodbye: The Greatest Breakup Album of All Time.” From Brian McKnight, Boyz II Men, Prince and D'Angelo to country songwriting and BigXthaPlug, Trevor walks through his influences, his independence with UnitedMasters, and his frustration with the current streaming economy that undervalues music. They also get into Black men and grief, the illusion of limited “spots” for Black artists, and what it really looks like to stay authentic while navigating Hollywood and the music industry. The episode closes with Trevor answering fan questions (including from Ian's daughter), reflecting on Grown-ish and Grey's Anatomy, and sharing his dream role: Silver Surfer in a full origin story.

How do you begin to describe 1992?Well, Her Majesty called it her Annus horribilis, for a number of reasons. Quite possibly including the three weeks Boyz II Men spent at number one, possibly not. But whatever the reason, we can safely say that the twelve months of glittering pop culture that we call '92 were definitely diverse and, quite frankly, bonkers. As we've ascertained in this pop parish before, that post-Baggy, pre-Britpop (to throw in some 'labels') landscape was a bit of a hinterland. Genres blurred, one hit wonders came and went, Wet, Wet Wet spent a third of a year at No1 and Right Said Fred even existed. But do not be fooled, listeners! There is plenty to rediscover amongst the decade's shrapnel and 1992 is the place to be in this episode's 90s scene! And our special guest here is comedian, author and podcast host Josh Widdicombe.Josh co-hosts the hugely popular podcast Parenting Hell with Rob Beckett, which has somehow become so successful that they undertook a live arena tour in 2023 and released a book which topped the Sunday Times Bestseller Charts. He also presents the football podcast, QUICKLY KEVIN: WILL HE SCORE? And on TV, amongst others, Josh co-hosts in the multi-award-winning Channel 4 series The Last Leg, and, lest we forget, triumphed on the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special in 2024. And now in 2026, Josh sees the launch of a new podcast - MUSEUM OF POP CULTURE - where he takes us through the wildest and most entertaining stories of unhinged genius, world dominating success and shaming failure.Join us we re-explore 1992 and the 3rd NOW album of that very year - it's only NOW23 everyone! In 45 minutes more hit-filled than Noel's House Party (possibly), we celebrate Tasmin Archer, Dr. Spin, Bjorn Again and others! We wonder why '92 was so full of old songs, remixed songs, Satellite football channel related songs (well, one actually) and explore important cultural questions such as what is an indent nobble, what was the KLF's greatest track, does Mick Jagger remember the 90s, who would win in a fight between Longpigs & All saints and how many songs in the history of recorded music really feature the word BOOM?And, AND, once again do nothing for international relations with Jon Secada.Buckle up, this is 1992 baby! We've been celebrating our 10th anniversary all year by digging in the vaults to re-present classic episodes with fresh commentary. Today, for our final "classic episode" of 2025, we're revisiting our 2020 conversation with "All I Want for Christmas" co-writer Walter Afanasieff. Happy holidays and thanks for a great year of looking back together as we continue to look toward the future!ABOUT WALTER AFANASIEFFThirteen-time Grammy nominee and two-time winner Walter Afanasieff is best known for his collaborative songwriting and production partnership with Mariah Carey that yielded hit singles such as “Can't Let Go,” “Dreamlover,” “Hero,” “Without You,” “Anytime You Need a Friend,” “Butterfly,” “My All,” and “One Sweet Day,” a duet with Boyz II Men that was named ASCAP Song of the Year. It hit #1 in December of 1995 and stayed there for sixteen weeks—a record that remained unbroken for more than two decades. Their “All I Want for Christmas is You” was released in 1994 and has since become a holiday standard. It hit #1 on Billboard's pop chart for the first time in 2019, giving Walter and Mariah the world record for the longest period of time between a song's original release and its arrival at the top of the chart.  In addition to his success with Carey, Afanasieff carved out a formidable reputation as a go-to producer of hit movie songs. After co-writing and co-producing the Gladys Knight single “License to Kill” from the James Bond film of the same name, he went on to produce “Beauty and the Beast,” “A Whole New World” from Aladdin, “Even If My Heart Would Break” from The Bodyguard, and “My Heart Will Go On” from Titanic, which became the best-selling single in the world for 1998. Additionally he produced “Some Day” from The Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Academy Award nominated “Go the Distance” from Hercules.Other hits from the Walter Afanasieff songbook include “Can You Stop the Rain,” a #1 R&B single for Peabo Bryson that earned a Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song, “Missing You Now,” a #1 Adult Contemporary hit for Michael Bolton, “If You Go Away,” a Top 20 single for New Kids on the Block, Savage Garden's #1 pop single “I Knew I Loved You,” and Ricky Martin's massive global hit “She Bangs.”The long list of additional artists Walter has written and produced music for includes Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie, Luther Vandross, Destiny's Child, Kenny G, Andrea Bocelli, Johnny Mathis, Kenny Loggins, Barbra Streisand, Christina Aguilera, Marc Anthony, Babyface, and Josh Groban.   Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Send us a textHoliday energy hits early as we trade quick life updates, a Punta Cana birthday plan, and the kind of shopping chaos that defines December. A budget TV hunt morphs into a 65‑inch Sony, followed by a full‑body reaction to Costco gridlock and a surprising win at a spotless rural meat market with fair prices and great cuts. We share thoughtful gifts that fit our worlds—Fallout mugs for the morning ritual and an Elder Scrolls official cookbook that turns Tamriel into spices, breads, and desserts worth trying at home—then plot a brisket and chicken smoke that anchors the week. The conversation turns to soundtracks for the season and why some traditions faded. We make a passionate case for Boyz II Men's Let It Snow—warm harmonies, timeless romance, and replay value well past December—and ask why R&B Christmas albums vanished when they once defined winter mood. That leads into the year's biggest gaming tension: an acclaimed indie used AI for parts of its production, patched it out quickly, then saw awards pulled. We weigh the ethics and the future: should AI‑assisted categories exist, or would that legitimize a shortcut? Craft still matters, and audiences can tell when heart leads. We also dig into Bethesda buzz: real movement on the next Elder Scrolls and rumors that the Fallout TV series could become canon in Fallout 5. That sparks curiosity and caution—transmedia can deepen a universe or tangle it. To help you win the season, we wrap with a clean, practical gift guide: USB‑C cables, surge protectors, RGB lighting, handheld accessories, U3 microSD cards, and digital gift cards for Steam or Game Pass during the big sales. The final note is simple but urgent: appreciate the people near you. Take the photo, make the call, share the meal. Jimmy Jam is on Celebrity Jobber with Jeff Zito this week. What type of work would Jam be doing if not for being an R&B/pop songwriter and record producer since the 1980s with various artists like Lionel Richie, Herb Alpert, TLC, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Boyz II Men, Usher, Chaka Khan, and more? Many celebrities will tell you that if not for that one lucky break or meeting, they would have been working at McDonald's, like Rachel McAdams, or teaching middle school drama, like Jon Hamm. In other words, they may have been just a jobber.

LONDON BABY!

Jenn is prepping for his last couple of episodes of season 7 so we're putting a recent episode of Super Awesome Mix on the feed this week.  The focus is on gratitude and in particular, songs that feature the words 'Thank You'.  We kick off with Sly's Thank You and the relief of being yourself again, then trace how Dido's gentle melody got flipped into Eminem's Stan without erasing its original warmth. Andrew Gold's Thank You for Being a Friend sparks a riff on friendship rituals, party etiquette, and why the Golden Girls hook lives rent-free in our heads. DJ Khaled and Big Sean bring gratitude to ambition, reminding us that success without appreciation rings hollow. Boyz II Men drop us into a 90s harmony cocoon, proving that a simple refrain can feel like community.  The mix widens with Logic's Thank You, closing on real fan voicemails from around the globe—a living map of music's connective tissue. Alanis Morissette's Thank U honors letting go and landing; Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre rework Sly's groove into a modern head-nod; Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats turn repetition into affirmation. Diana Ross glows with a love that adds to an already good life, pushing back on the myth that gratitude only comes from struggle. How We Heard It
Sweet, sour and salty: great songs about giving thanks

How We Heard It

The United States may have an official day of gratitude every November with Thanksgiving, but for many of us, most every day could be a day of appreciation. A sincere "thank you" is rewarding for everyone: It feels good to say it and it feels good to hear it. However, appreciation can be complicated and "thank you" may come with a twist. Sometimes we're grateful (in hindsight, at least) for the lessons we've learned from difficult people. Sometimes we feel generalized happiness for family and/or friends. Sometimes we're just thankful to no one in particular that we're happy for no reason in particular. And of course sometimes expressions of gratitude are just a cover for dark feelings. In this episode of "How We Heard It" your hosts sift through an array of old and new songs that directly or indirectly express gratitude. Artists include Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, The Kinks, Sly and the Family Stone, The Beatles, Big Star, Natalie Merchant, Taylor Swift, Bob Hope, Elton John, Louis Armstrong, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, The Beach Boys, Backstreet Boys, Alanis Morissette, James Taylor, Small Faces, Kool & the Gang, U2, Spice Girls, Boyz II Men and many more. Thanks for listening!
