Send us Fan MailTerry Garrison, Nick Brunacini, and John Vance (The Silverbacks) are back with a new Silverback module (available to all Blue Card subscribers). We pick up part two of Boss Power and get blunt about how a leader's angels and demons shape firefighter behavior and department culture. We keep coming back to one simple filter that prevents most boss mistakes: focus on the work, use the process, and do not let ego drive decisions. We talk about:• angels versus demons as a practical leadership model • why boss misconduct carries bigger consequences than worker misconduct • how demon-led management triggers sabotage, rumor, and malicious obedience • positional power versus informal workforce power • focusing on the work as the cleanest way to lead and correct behavior • inclusive communication that brings the workers in early • why you do not know someone until they have power over you • cosplay leadership and the danger of not understanding fireground work • tradition, SCBA, and the cost of unnecessary risk • line of duty death learning, accountability, and executive responsibility • “Take the process seriously, not yourself” as a leadership anchor • discipline that stays human while following a clear process Please go to BShifter.com, go to our events page, and you can see what's coming up there. Many of us have wondered what it will be like to see Jesus as He is in all of His glory. We're told, as Christians, that will be a reality one day in heaven. But wouldn't it be nice to get a glimpse of that glory here on earth? We argue there's no neutral gear for a boss, and we share practical ways to protect credibility, service delivery, and values when budgets and politics get loud. • new Silverback Leadership module built from Alan Brunicini's functional boss behaviors and no-brainer management • leading for service delivery rather than ego, ceremony, or titles • why fire chiefs cannot delegate away responsibility, only tasks • political leadership versus operational leadership and why operations must make sense • how community connection makes budget cuts harder to justify • what management wants versus what workers want and how to navigate both • value-based decision making when staffing cuts clash with safety • explaining staffing, response times, and resources by describing the work • a real efficiency committee story that ends with support for more funding • overtime and MOU realities and the importance of early notification • credibility loss, absentee leadership, and getting stuck in the middle • angels and demons as daily boss impulses, with “be nice” as a powerful discipline Order the 3rd Edition of Fire Command here: https://bshifter.myshopify.com/products/new-fire-command-3rd-editionFor Waldorf University Blue Card credit and discounts: https://www.waldorf.edu/blue-card/For free command and leadership support, check out bshifter.comSign up for the B Shifter Buckslip, our free weekly newsletter here: https://lp.constantcontactpages.com/su/fmgs92N/BuckslipShop B Shifter here: https://bshifter.myshopify.comShare this podcast with your friends, and don't forget to like and subscribe!Thank you for listening!

Postcolonial? – How Does the House of History Confront Europe's Colonial Past and the “Colonial Matrix of Power”? Part II

This spring, the House of European History – a flagship museum of the European Parliament – has opened a temporary exhibition under the title Postcolonial?that features unique artworks, historical objects, and personal stories. Knowing the multifaceted and controversial legacies of European colonialism and being aware of just how closely intertwined the European integration project and thehistory of decolonization have been, this amounts to a significant and urgent intervention. The exhibition asks explicitly how Europeans preserved their power as their empires collapsed and aims to show how the “colonial matrix of power” continues to shape the world we live in. The exhibition ultimately ambitions no less than to help us rethink what it means to be European – and thus raises a host of essential and challenging questions. Our podcast features two of the exhibition's main curators – Kieran Burns and Ayoko Mensah – and two eminent experts in colonial history, postcolonial theory, and questions of European and postcolonial memory – Diana Natermann and Aline Sierp. Moderated by Ferenc Laczó, they jointly examine this crucial new exhibition in depth – and consider what it means to have such an exhibition at the heart of the EU today. The first part of the podcast explored some of the mostthought-provoking parts of the exhibition. This second part focuses on the links between the main themes of the exhibition and the history of European integration; asks whether there might be a risk here ofoffering a dichotomous and too moralizing reading of history; and considers what a thorough rethinking in the light of colonial history of how to be European today would imply – and what might be most in need of revision in theHouse of European History itself in accordance with that process of rethinking.

I'm challenging you: there are three sources of Power. There's Power in prayer. There's Power in the Blood of Christ. And there's the Power of the Holy Spirit - that's the Power released to us through the resurrected Jesus! I may be 94, but I want more power, in Jesus' Name!  In 1 Cor 12:28ff, Paul is talking about the Baptism in the Holy Spirit and the different gifts He gives us, “In the church God has appointed apostles, prophets, teachers, workers of miracles, helpers, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking with different kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? No. Are all prophets? No. Are all teachers? No. Are all workers of miracles? No. have all got gifts of healing? No. Do all speak in tongues, do all interpret? But covert earnestly the best gifts!”  I strongly believe that if you've received the Holy Spirit, you should call upon Him to give you some of the gifts! Come on! We NEED the gifts of the Spirit. I need the gifts of the Spirit. They are the demonstration you have received the Baptism!  Whatever the gift, whether it's speaking in tongues, prophesying, discerning of spirits, whatever it is, Paul said, “Seek the best gift.” I did. When I received the Holy Spirit, I took this literally. I said, “Holy Spirit, I don't want the vocal gifts” - yes, like Paul, I can speak in tongues ‘more than anybody', and I don't claim to interpret tongues or to be a prophet, I don't claim to have the discerning of spirits, knowledge or wisdom - but I said, “Holy Spirit, what gets me excited is I want the practical gifts: the gifts of faith, of miracles and of gifts of healing!” And to me the most important was the gift of faith - and that's what I asked for! Because without faith you can't please God! Come on! To please God I needed faith!

There is POWER in the Blood of Christ! In the early years when I was still a pastor, we used to sing a lot of great songs about the Blood - many will know the song, ‘There's Power, Power, wonder-working Power, in the precious Blood of the Lamb'. There's Power to overcome sin, Power to break the curse! The significance of the Power of the Blood of Jesus was foreshadowed in the miracle that brought the children of Israel out of slavery in Egypt - which is prophetic of our being brought out of a life of sin into the life of Christ! They had to sacrifice a lamb and put the blood on the doorpost of their houses. Why? Because that night the angel of death was coming to slaughter the firstborn child of every family living in Egypt. But when the angel of death saw the blood on the doorposts of the Israelites, he passed over and they alone were spared. The Israelites had to remember this every year at Passover and they still do! But we have to come under the covering of the Blood of Christ as our eternal protection. When we take communion, we are reminding ourselves of the Power of the Blood. Scripture is clear: without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin. Hebrew 9:22. We cannot have a ‘bloodless' Gospel. I'm sorry, you can't! When we take communion, we must remember that it's the Blood of Christ that cleanses us, saves us! The Blood that He shed paid the price of our sin! Come on! This is the basic essential of the Gospel! You cannot have salvation without the Blood! This first part of the podcast explores some of the most thought-provoking parts of the exhibition: it discusses how the curators selected the artworks, objects, and stories to be featured in the exhibition and reflects on the ways theexhibition builds on current scholarship – and why its makers decided to place a clear emphasis on how Europeans largely preserved their power even as their empires collapsed. The second part will focus on the links between the main themes of the exhibition and the history of European integration. The episodes are based on a panel that was held at Maastricht University's Brussels Hub on May 11, 2025, and was generously supported by the Arts, Media and Culture research group of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Jesus made a very strong statement in Acts 1:8. He said, “YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER! You will receive Power after the Holy Spirit is come on you!” I want to challenge you of the necessity in the Church of POWER! Power motivates and drives everything God does and everything that we do. We NEED the Fire and Power of God! In Matt 9 when they bring a crippled man lying paralysed on a bed to Jesus, He doesn't heal him straightaway, but instead says, “Your sin is forgiven.” But that can't be seen! And who is Jesus anyway? The religious leaders questioned, who can forgive sin but God alone? But Jesus continues, “So that you may KNOW that the Son of Man has POWER on EARTH, I say, crippled man, get up and walk!” Christ's  Power could not be seen in the forgiveness of his sin, but it was seen in his healing - when the dying man got up and walked!!! I don't copy other people, I just want to be like Jesus, I want to do what Peter and Paul did! Because this Power was in the early Church! Jesus gave it to them!  Thinking about these Scriptures recently, I have concluded there are three sources of Power open to us. ONE: you will receive Power after the Holy Spirit is come on you. TWO: there is Power in our prayer. The prayer of faith will save the sick, James 5:14, and the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man ‘avails much' - it is the Power that will move mountains! James 5:16. Elijah was no different to us! James 5:17. He prayed there would be no rain in Israel, and there was no rain for three and a half years until he prayed that it would rain. And it did! THREE: the Power of the Blood. In Cor 11:23ff, Paul writes, “I received from the Lord what I have passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night He was betrayed, took bread, and when He had given thanks, He said, ‘This is My Body broken for you, do this in remembrance of Me.' In the same way after supper, He took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in My Blood, do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of Me.' For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes!” Watch the YouTube version: https://youtu.be/IxGXbTpYuW8  For more information on the Ministry of David Hathaway https://www.eurovision.org.uk

Jeffrey Epstein's relationship with Les Wexner was not just financial—it was the foundation of Epstein's rise from a mysterious money manager to a figure embedded in the world of extreme wealth and power. Wexner, the billionaire founder of L Brands and longtime CEO of Victoria's Secret, granted Epstein unprecedented access to his fortune, his homes, and his reputation. Epstein was given power of attorney over Wexner's finances, a level of trust so unusual it raised questions about the true nature of their bond. This arrangement allowed Epstein to control massive sums of Wexner's wealth, acquire luxury properties, and build the image of legitimacy he later used to lure victims and cultivate influence..Yet Wexner has long insisted that he, too, was deceived by Epstein, claiming that Epstein stole money and betrayed his trust. That narrative, however, collapses under scrutiny. Maria Farmer's testimony places abuse at Wexner's heavily guarded Ohio estate, and Epstein's use of Wexner's assets—such as the Manhattan townhouse he effectively gifted him—suggests far more than a duped investor. The fact that Wexner enabled Epstein's ascent, while escaping the same level of media and legal accountability as other Epstein associates, underscores how wealth and influence insulated him. Their relationship was not incidental; it was the keystone that transformed Epstein from a grifter into a predator with access to the corridors of power.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-moscow-murders-and-more--5852883/support.

Concluding on "Culture and its Realm of Actuality," in Hegel's Phenomenology via sections 519-526. We get into some of the ironic psychology here: In giving loyalty to the king, the nobles actually boost themselves qua givers. They should be grateful to the king to get wealth back from him, but being dependent on the king makes them resentful. The result is duplicitous people resenting those they claim to esteem, and moral language that is thus used inconsistently (the king is "good" when praised by "bad" when resented), which encourages jaded moral nihilism. Continuing on Hegel's Phenomenology, "Spirit" chapter, now up to sections 511-526, which finishes off the sub-section of "Self-Alienated Spirit" called "Culture and its Realm of Actuality." Whereas in our last discussion, obeying the state (public power) ran counter to hoarding wealth (private power), at this stage, the two converge, because the state gets concentrated in a single monarch who both receives our power and doles out wealth to his supporters. So putting your effort into obtaining private wealth ironically requires surrendering your agency (and hence wealth) to the state. Get more at partiallyexaminedlife.com.
