Back in March, we were proud to participate in the Who Against Guns movement. We helped other Doctor Who podcasters raise over $20,000 to support gun control. In the course of that effort, several donors won rewards from the participating podcasts. Our winner, Dr. Thomas Rodebaugh, asked us to talk about one of his favorite DW stories, "Warriors' Gate". Join Deb, Erika, Lynne, and Tansy as we dig into this incredibly juicy story. Also covered: Deb is thrilled to see new Doctor Who content in the form of the new promo that aired during the World Cup final! Tansy has a sweet new bag and a lovely new pin! Lynne flipped over the Doctor meeting the Muppets for a Pigs in Space sketch! Erika is thrilled The Memory Cheats is back for season 3! shouts out the new book by Michael, the host of the Tin Dog Podcast! enjoys the first ep of the new DW podcast, The Moment! Can it be?! Kyle and Erik are talking about episodes of Doctor Who from after 2005?! Yes indeed! For nearly 6 years, the fellas have talked about episodes of the 1963-1989 seasons, but this month is different. Anna Lynch, the raffle winner from the #WhoAgainstGuns initiative, has chosen three new/modern Who episodes: "Partners in Crime," "The Doctor's Wife," and "Listen" and K & E get into things like fan wank, nostalgia, and companion story arcs. Next month...it's the beginning of the end.
Reconstructions of missing episodes; The Macra Terror - Alyssa promised that she would make Chip watch his very first reconstruction of a missing classic Doctor Who episode, as chosen by a random #WhoAgainstGuns donor. Thanks to David H. Adler, it’s time for “The Macra Terror” in living color…well, not color, but in living motion…well, not motion. Host Chip Sudderth and Alyssa Franke.
MUTTER’S SPIRAL Podcast is back, and we are FINALLY finishing our discussion of the PETER CAPALDI Era of Doctor Who! Part 1 was back in episode 151, and after a short hiatus, we will wrap up our dive into Capaldi. We'll talk about where we feel he ranks in the pantheon of Doctors; how his seasons stack up against others in the modern era; and go in detail about companions, other favorite stories, and anything else we can think of! John especially has some really eloquent points that he makes about the Capaldi era, so that's worth a listen right there! We also give a wrap up of the #WhoAgainstGuns campaign and talk about the Target Novelizations that have just been released in the UK and on Kindle, although the physical US release isn't until June. We hope you enjoy it!
