If you’ve ever felt far from God, afraid you’ll “miss His will,” or exhausted by a transactional, try-harder Christianity, this conversation will minister deep healing. In this episode of Perspectives with Catherine Toon, Catherine and returning guest Jason Clark (Rethinking God with Tacos) dive into the tender, transformative truth that love is the long game—and that the lie of separation is losing its grip. Together, we talk about: - Why the message of God’s love is surging globally—and why it’s setting people free - Healing religious trauma rooted in “distance,” fear, and performance - Union with Christ (not striving) as the foundation for identity in Christ and spiritual healing - Obedience as a gift that matures us into love (not a fear-based scoreboard) - The difference between boundaries that heal vs. control that crushes - How Papa/Jesus/Holy Spirit leads you in peace, intimacy, and real freedom Connect with Jason Clark Website: AFamilyStory.org Community: Rethinking God with Tacos (Facebook) Podcast: “Rethinking God with Tacos”, most major platforms YouTube: @Rethinking God with Tacos “Rethinking God with Tacos BOOK” available on Amazon If this blessed you: • Subscribe for more conversations on God’s love, identity in Christ, and inner healing • Share this with a friend who needs hope today • Explore Catherine’s resources & community for next-step support Exhausted and worn out? Hayes Carll joins Wheels Off for a wide-ranging, deeply reflective conversation about songwriting as a lifelong practice rather than a race. Speaking candidly about his early obsessiveness, creative doubt, and eventual comfort in his own voice, Carll traces the evolution of his process—from locking himself in a room chasing melodies to learning how to trust silence and timing. The conversation explores how Carll writes songs today, why collaboration has become central to his creative life, and how working across different mediums has sharpened his instincts as a songwriter. He discusses the freedom that comes from not playing it safe, and the idea that creativity is not about speed or output, but about staying curious, present, and willing to be vulnerable. Maduro captured.I marvel at how methodical President Trump has been in dismantling the evil Democrats, and how he has Republicans winning the short game, while positioning the long game. And I will tie all this to what's happening with Venezuela and Maduro in this broadcast. The best example is how he stopped illegal immigration. You've heard me talk about this, but it bears repeating. Trump did what Democrats knew could be done, but pretended could be done. He closed the border. Consider the optics of this. While Democrats encouraged millions to invade America, and gave all kinds of excuses for doing so, Trump just stopped it. In its tracks. That's the short game.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

In this episode of Distinguished, Dean Arun Upneja speaks with Ian Livingstone, the co-founder of London & Regional Properties, one of the UK's largest private real estate groups, about what it really takes to build a £30 billion global empire, through booms, crashes, and everything in between. You don't have to know exactly where you're going to start walking toward it.In this episode of Stay Magic, Sara Walka shares the magic of Capricorn season and why this energy is perfect for casting a vision you can't fully see yet. She also reflects on 10 years of The Sisters Enchanted (!) and the seeds she planted back in 2016 that she never could have predicted would grow into this.If you're afraid of getting your long-term vision "wrong," or you're stuck because you don't have all the answers, this one's for you.In This Episode:What is Capricorn energy good for?Capricorn is the energy of foundations, devotion, and the long game. It's not about quick wins, it's about planting seeds for things that need time to grow: ideas, finances, relationships, wisdom, and identity shifts. This is the perfect season to think beyond the year ahead and ask yourself what you want to devote your energy to over time. What does the sea goat symbolize?Capricorn is represented by the sea goat, a creature with hooves on the mountaintop (the long view, what we can see) and a fish tail in the ocean depths (the unknown, what we can't predict). This symbol reminds us to hold our visions loosely: trust where you're headed, even when you can't see the full picture. What is a Saturn return?Saturn takes about 29.5 years to move through all twelve zodiac signs. When Saturn returns to the sign it was in when you were born (around age 29, 59, and 88), it often marks a major shift in what you're devoted to and how you see your life's structure. These are powerful turning points worth reflecting on.How do I cast a long-term vision when I don't know the outcome? You don't need a detailed plan, you need a felt sense of what you want to devote yourself to. Create a sacred space, a talisman, a sticky note, or a simple reminder of that energy. The Capricorn invitation is to do the work, trust the process, and let the path reveal itself.Journal Prompts for Capricorn Season:

The conversation reinforces that real progress is built through consistency, self-awareness, and intentional choices made over years, not through hacks or intensity spikes. At its core, the episode challenges listeners to commit to the long game and become the kind of person who shows up—especially when it's harder, not easier. 00:00 Why This Episode Exists: Choosing the Long Game 02:10 Dave's Background and the Foundations of Discipline 05:45 Education vs. Self-Education and Owning Your Growth 09:20 Leaving Comfort: Moves, Risk, and Alignment 13:40 Marriage, Family, and Letting Constraints Sharpen You 18:30 Fitness as Identity, Not a Phase 22:10 Coaching, Craft, and Rejecting Short-Term Fitness Wins 26:15 Why Garage Gym Athlete Is a Long-Term Play 30:05 Community, Consistency, and Doing Life Together 33:45 Choosing the Hard Right Over the Easy Wrong (Final Takeaways)

In this episode, I sit down with percussionist Doug Perkins for a wide-ranging conversation that starts with a few personal connections and quickly opens up into a bigger discussion about music, teaching, and the kind of “improbable events” that can change a person's life. Doug and I talk about our shared link through LSU and Brett Dietz, and Doug tells the story of how he learned bass guitar in the eighth grade to get into a jazz band, which led to rehearsals at home, a punk band with Brett called The Septic Creptics, and a deep early education in groove, feel, and listening. We dig into the teachers who shaped Doug's path, especially Jack DiIanni, and why fundamentals, sound, and real-life performing situations became such a foundation for everything that came next.Doug shares how his background in drum set and bass informs the way he plays and teaches, especially when it comes to music like Steve Reich, where micro-groove, ensemble feel, and knowing your role inside the bigger texture are everything. We also talk about how students learn now, how algorithm-driven listening can shrink context, and why so many young musicians feel pressure to avoid mistakes when everything can feel like a permanent record. Doug explains how he actively teaches context, lineage, and listening, and why basic production skills matter more than ever, including signal flow, microphones, sound reinforcement, and the simple confidence that comes from knowing how to set up a PA or wrap a cable correctly. From there, Doug takes us into his world at the University of Michigan, where he helps lead a large percussion studio with a faculty team that spans orchestral playing, contemporary music, improvisation, and drum set. We talk about the balance between performing and teaching, and how parenting an 18-year-old college student has changed the way he supports first-year undergrads. Doug also tells the story of his long relationship with composer John Luther Adams, including how a formative early experience with Strange and Sacred Noise eventually led to performances in the Alaskan tundra, floating stages in Central Park, and outdoor concerts where the audience hikes in and the environment becomes part of the piece. We wrap up with what's ahead for Doug, including significant projects, collaborations, performances, and the ongoing joy of bringing students into real work that proves their “crazy ideas” can matter in the world.Music from the Episode:Nagoya Marimbas (Steve Reich, composer - Todd Meehan & Doug Perkins, marimbas)XY (Michael Gordon, composer - Doug Perkins, percussion)Strange and Sacred Noise (John Luther Adams, composer - Morris Palter, Rob Esler, Steven Schick, & Doug Perkins - percussion)Thank you for listening. December 27, 2025: (Repeat) The Long Game: Investing, Mortgages, and Year-End Money MovesWhile we're out of the studio this week, we've collected a selection of great discussions from the past few months. For young men, knowing every player stat is easier than understanding investing—but it doesn't have to be that way. We respond to a listener's question about the rise of sports betting and show how the same competitive spirit can be redirected toward “betting” on the markets—tracking long-term wins, company performance, and financial growth. After the break, we dive into a headline-grabbing idea: 50-year mortgages. The Federal Housing Finance Agency is floating the concept, but would stretching a home loan over five decades make homebuying more accessible—or simply saddle borrowers with far more interest over time? We lay out the potential benefits, the pitfalls, and what this could mean for future homeowners. We walk through the essentials of year-end IRA planning—from maximizing contributions to handling required minimum distributions and reviewing beneficiaries. We highlight key deadlines, common pitfalls to avoid, and tactics that can help strengthen your long-term savings. We'll also answer a listener question about donor-advised funds—a charitable giving tool that lets you give now, decide later, and save on taxes today.Join hosts Nick Antonucci, CVA, CEPA, Director of Research, and Managing Associates K.C. Happy Holidays from the On with Kara Swisher team! To celebrate, we're gifting you a recent episode of a new national security podcast from the Vox Media Podcast Network. “The Long Game” is hosted by Jake Sullivan, President Biden's National Security Advisor, and Jon Finer, his Principal Deputy — both senior aides who sat in on the classified Presidential Daily Brief each morning and translated raw intelligence into policy advice. On this episode of The Long Game, Jake and Jon cover: - The fast-escalating U.S. pressure campaign against the Maduro regime in Venezuela — including the growing American military buildup and Trump's post calling Venezuela a “foreign terrorist organization.” - President Trump's decision to allow the sale of Nvidia's advanced H200 AI chips to China — announced on the same day that the DOJ called the chip a cornerstone of “AI superiority.” - A Red Team/Blue Team exercise on the U.S.-backed peace proposal for the Ukraine–Russia war, with Jake and Jon stepping into the roles of advisers to Zelensky and Putin. In this episode of the Crypto 101 Podcast, CoinShares CEO Jean-Marie Mognetti joins Bryce to unpack how institutional adoption of crypto is unfolding in real time. He explains why Bitcoin ETFs, Ethereum exposure, and digital asset treasury companies are driving growth—but also creating short-term technical pressure through trade unwinds. Mognetti emphasizes that institutions are still in the earliest learning phase, while retail has led adoption, flipping the traditional investment pyramid. He closes by stressing long-term conviction, disciplined portfolio construction, and the importance of not confusing temporary market mechanics with Bitcoin's broader macro trajectory.Check out Gemini Exchange: https://gemini.comCheck out TruDiagnostic and use my code CRYPTO101 for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comCheck out Quince: https://quince.com/CRYPTO101Get immediate access to my entire crypto portfolio for just $1.00 today! In this Kitchen Side episode of The Long Game Podcast, Alex Birkett and the team unpack a question that's coming up more and more: who actually “owns” being found in AI search—and what AI visibility means for modern marketing teams. They explore why the “AI is killing SEO” debate misses the point, and how AI search is collapsing traditional channel boundaries while changing how buyers discover brands. They also dig into what's actually being cannibalized (undifferentiated, consensus content), how teams should rethink success metrics as clicks get harder to track, and what the velocity vs. quality debate looks like now—especially as some teams bet on subject-matter depth while others bet on scaled output with AI-assisted production.Key TakeawaysAI isn't “killing SEO” so much as reducing the value of undifferentiated, consensus content that used to earn easy traffic.Losing traffic doesn't automatically mean losing business value—teams should validate impact through conversions, leads, and pipeline, not sessions alone.AI visibility is increasingly a composite outcome of everything a company publishes and does (content, comms, brand, product, reviews, community, and customer experience).Measurement is getting harder as discovery shifts to “dark” channels (e.g., AI tools) and attribution breaks—teams may need new proxies and self-reported attribution.“Listicles dominate AI citations” may be partly a prompt and sampling bias problem—inputs strongly shape outputs and visibility reporting can be manipulated. The hardest visibility problem is higher up the funnel: influencing problem-aware searches before buyers even know what category or solution to ask for.Content teams are splitting into different bets: deep, SME-led quality (often from people who've done the job) vs. high-velocity production supported by AI.A modern in-house writer role trends toward “jack of all trades” output (research, PR-like writing, CEO comms, etc.), using AI to lower marginal cost without collapsing quality control.Show LinksConnect with David Khim on LinkedIn and TwitterConnect with Alex Birkett on LinkedIn and TwitterConnect with Allie Decker on LinkedIn and TwitterConnect with Omniscient Digital on LinkedIn or TwitterWhat is Kitchen Side? One big benefit of running an agency or working at one is you get to see the “kitchen side” of many different businesses; their revenue, their operations, their automations, and their culture. You understand how things look from the inside and how that differs from the outside. You understand how the sausage is made. Kamala Harris refuses to be a “Good Woman.” You should, too.In this rare and deeply personal conversation, Kimberly is joined by Vice President Kamala Harris to reflect on womanhood, ambition, partnership, and the mental stamina required to cut through doubt and criticism.Harris reframes one of the most enduring and limiting expectations placed on women: the pressure to be a “good woman.” She unpacks how humility has historically been used to police women and makes a case for a different standard rooted in conviction, self-trust, and refusing to shrink.Drawing from her own life, Harris reflects on the weight of being “the first,” the importance of choosing the right circle to get you there, and offers rare advice for single women balancing ambition with finding “the one.”Kim's biggest takeaway? Don't let things happen to you.Together, they discuss:Why ambition was never the problem and why women were taught to hide it.The myth of the “good woman” and how it has been used to police women. How to cut through doubt, noise, and projection without letting it live in your head. What power, partnership, and finding “the one” really look like without the timeline panic.Related reading: 107 Days: A Memoir of a Campaign That Made History (2025).[2:54] The Village That Raised Her[9:30] The Myth of the Good Woman[12:20] Advice for Ambitious, Single Women[20:14] Stamina, Staying Power & the Long Game[23:54] The Weight of Being “The First”[28:38] What She Needed More Of[32:52] Who She's Becoming Now✨ You're Gonna Want to Subscribe to This:Drop us a 5-STAR review (with a compliment — we read them all)Follow us (@richlittlebrokegrls) on Instagram for daily clips & chaos → [instagram.com/richlittlebrokegrls]Join the RLBG Community for exclusive events & LIVE girl talks → [richlittlebrokegirls.com/join] Stalk Kim on TikTok & Instagram (@kimberlybizu) for more unfiltered hot takes → [instagram.com/kimberlybizu & tiktok.com/@kimberlybizu]Shop Kim's favorites on ShopMy → [https://shopmy.us/kimberlybizu]

What if the reason your body is changing has nothing to do with willpower and everything to do with physiology, recovery and time?In Part Two of this powerful conversation, Tom Nikkola returns to dismantle some of the most persistent myths around metabolism, weight, hormones and healthy ageing. If you have ever wondered why your body responds differently as you get older, why shifting from high intensity to strength training feels confusing, or why “quick fixes” rarely work, you will find clarity here. Tom explains why many people temporarily gain weight when transitioning away from high intensity exercise, how glycogen and calorie demand shift and why the body can take up to a year to settle into a new training style. He also unpacks the complex hormonal changes women experience during perimenopause and menopause, the role of bioidentical hormones and why sustainable results require patience rather than urgency. Other key topics include:Why social media messaging about instant results harms real peopleHow to recognise the difference between outliers and realistic expectationsThe interaction between MTHFR, detoxification and gut functionCOMT, B12 metabolism and why some people become anxious on methylated B vitaminsThe value of saliva-based genetic testing and why testing beyond MTHFR mattersWhy nature time, sleep and strength training outperform almost every “biohack”Tom also shares the “one thing” approach from the book The One Thing, which radically simplifies health into the most impactful daily actions: high protein intake, regular resistance training, quality sleep and time outside. Acclaimed fiction writer and long-time creative writing professor Elizabeth McCracken joins co-hosts Whitney Terrell and V. V. Ganeshananthan to discuss her ninth book and first volume about craft, A Long Game: Notes on Writing Fiction. McCracken reflects on her long-held reluctance to attempt such a project and the impossibility of creating absolute rules for writing. She explains why she doesn't believe in “show don't tell,” “write what you know,” “write every day,” and other classic canards of craft. McCracken talks about the importance of imagining characters' physicality; well-executed present tense; how time can shape narrative; justifying flashbacks; and writing outside one's own identity. What actually drives agency growth when pipelines are noisy, buyers are skeptical, and everyone sounds the same?In this episode, Dan Englander sits down with Alex Marshall, a longtime agency growth leader with two decades of experience across holding companies and independents, to unpack what really moves the needle. They explore why trust and relevance matter more than tactics, how storytelling shows up late in the sales cycle, and why relationships compound over time even when results aren't immediate. This is a grounded conversation about growth as a discipline, not a hack.
Today's guest didn't just enter the music industry — he grew up inside it. He isn't just a Grammy-winning producer or a respected solo artist. He's one of the rare creatives who's built a career rooted in loyalty, advocacy, and taste — while learning in public and evolving in real time. And The Writer Is… FINNEAS! In this episode, he breaks down: Growing up in the industry without losing your footing The quiet flaw baked into today's music industry — and the one trait he's seen in every truly exceptional artistLoyalty over leverage — and why relationships still matterAdvocating for artists when you already have a seat at the tableLearning as you go without pretending you have it all figured out This one is grounded and essential for anyone trying to build something that actually lasts. Dorie Clark is an executive education professor at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business and Columbia Business School, and is the bestselling author of several books, including The Long Game and Stand Out. A frequent Harvard Business Review contributor, she has consulted for leading organizations including Google, Microsoft, and the World Bank. Dorie is former presidential campaign spokeswoman, an award-winning journalist, and a four-time Thinkers50 honoree who was named the world's top communication coach by the Marshall Goldsmith Leading Global Coaches Awards. Dorie holds degrees from Smith College and Harvard Divinity School. In this episode we discuss the following: While Dorie was working grueling hours on the campaign trail for low pay, her boss was earning 10 times her monthly salary in one hour speeches—and that sparked Dorie's curiosity. She realized that the massive pay difference came down to scale. Even if Broadway actors are just as talented as Hollywood actors, the Hollywood actors reach millions more people, thus commanding a premium. Dorie also saw that her boss had earned trust of other high status people who vouched for him. By building up social proof through brand affiliations, media appearances, and content creation, we make it easier for people to trust us. And we can also increase our scale.

Donald Trump's kleptocracy didn't happen overnight–it was part of the Kremlin's long game. With reports of Russia trying to explode planes headed to the US, we're running out of time to wake up before it's too late. In this week's bonus show for Gaslit Nation's Patreon supporters, who keep our independent journalism going in these dark times of institutional rot, media capitulation, and complacency, Andrea warns that we're nearing the point of no return. Putin can now say the U.S. and Russia are aligned, because they are. Trump's regime is declaring a return to the Monroe Doctrine, claiming the Western Hemisphere belongs to the U.S. That's exactly what Putin does in Eastern Europe. The Pentagon is handing Trump's gestapo-like immigration agenda $2 billion on top of $75 billion for ICE in Trump's Big Ugly Bill. Like Putin, Trump is building a gulag and gearing up for conflict with our neighbors, including Mexico, Venezuela, and whoever else he wants to casually kill. As we've long warned, Trump wants to become the Putin of North America, because that's his plan for staying in power indefinitely: enrich his family, build a dynastic oligarchy, and protect it with sadistic security services. To help us fight back and stay grounded in the gaslighting, this special bonus show includes a discussion of Gaslit Nation's Book Club: Total Resistance by Hans von Dach–a civilian guerrilla resistance guide produced by a Swiss military theorist in preparation for Soviet occupation during the Cold War–and Deaf Republic, a play-like book of poems by Ukrainian-born poet Ilya Kaminsky. "At the trial of God, we will ask: why did you allow all this?," Kaminsky writes, "And the answer will be an echo: why did you allow all this?" We have to stop the worst from happening and wake people up before it's too late. For ways to fight back, check out, and share, the Gaslit Nation Action Guide on GaslitNationPod.com. The full discussion of this month's book club will be published on Patreon Monday morning, along with the Zoom link for the Gaslit Nation Salon at 4pm ET later that day. To get access to that, join our community on Patreon at Patreon.com/Gaslit and get invites to exclusive events, bonus shows, all episodes ad free, and more. Sign up at Patreon.com/Gaslit – discounted annual memberships are available and you can give the gift of member. Thank you to everyone who supports the show – we could not make Gaslit Nation without you. Show Notes: Today in Washington, DC! Celebrate voices of resistance with COURIER. Reflect on 2025's lessons and explore how courage drives the fights ahead. Andrea will be speaking tonight, joined by other independent journalists and activists. On episode 109 of Native Land Pod, hosts Tiffany Cross, Angela Rye, Andrew Gillum, and Bakari Sellers discuss Jasmine Crockett’s campaign launch, and bring on one of our favorite guests: Elie Mystal. Racial profiling, birthright citizenship, executive power, and campaign finance are all up for judgement by the US Supreme Court. There’s no one better to walk us through SCOTUS’s recent and upcoming decisions than the Justice Correspondent for The Nation, Elie Mystal. Elie on Executive Power: https://www.thenation.com/article/politics/supreme-court-ftc-slaughter/ Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett (TX 30) is running for senate in Texas in 2026. There’s a lot of chatter out there about her announcement, that she’s a Republican plant, that she can’t win–and it’s true that it’s tough for a Dem to win a senate seat in Texas. Our hosts take a critical look at the media coverage of her announcement and speculate on a possible path to victory. We’ll get to more of your questions this week, including one about legacy media’s complicity in the Trump administration's agenda. A lot of y’all had smoke for Tiffany in the questions this week, we’ll get to those in our MiniPod.
