While The Horns of Nimon was officially the end of Season 17, efforts have been made over the years to complete the unfinished story that was meant to be the season finale – Shada. And we are discussing the “definitive” version of that story that released on the 2021 Blu Ray release, mixing live action with animation in an episodic format. Given that the production team had hoped that this story would make everyone forget The Horns of Nimon, we ask – is this story as great as its legendary reputation would have it?   Join us as we discuss the edits that had to be made to make it work (including new music, FX, and a couple of short scenes), Skagra's bonkers plan and his amazingly camp stylings, how this story could had been a four-parter, the pettiness of artificial intelligence, and (of course) Tom being Tom. Shada is a story from the British science fiction television series Doctor Who. Written by the series' script editor Douglas Adams, it was intended as the final serial of the 1979–80 season (season 17) but was never originally completed, owing to strike action at the BBC during studio recording. Entering production as a six-part story (6 x 25-minute episodes) in 1979, plans were later revised for the story to be broadcast as a four-part story (4 x 25-minute episodes) in 1980. Ultimately however, the story was never completed in either format. The BBC released a completed version of Shada in 2017, with missing dialogue newly recorded by the original cast, using the same audio equipment employed in the initial shoot, and animated by the team that undertook the reconstruction of the 1966 serial The Power of the Daleks.[2][3] This version was released on DVD and Blu-ray in 2017, and finally broadcast on television as a feature length TV movie – which was titled The Lost Episode rather than Shada – in 2018. A new version with enhanced animation and split into six episodes was released on 20 December 2021, as part of a Season 17 Blu-ray boxset.[4][5] Previous attempts to present the story include a narrated reconstruction for BBC Video; a re-imagined audio play by Big Finish Productions, also offered with basic Flash imagery on BBCi and the BBC's Doctor Who website; and a novelisation by Gareth Roberts, based on the latest shooting scripts, with the author's own additions.[6]

Linda also happens to be Keith's original coaching mentor on his path to become a Board Certified Nurse Coach. In the course of their conversation, Keith and Linda discuss the meaning of the similarities and differences between the terms holistic and integral, and how Linda has brought an integral approach to teaching coaching to thousands of nurses. Along with her colleague Barbie Dossey (another Nurse Keith Show alumna) and other nurse luminaries, Linda was one of the groundbreaking nurses who shepherded the creation of the Board Certified Nurse Coach designation and its acceptance and validation as a true nursing specialty. Linda wants nurses to understand that it pays to be integral and holistic on both a personal and professional level. Linda Bark has pioneered new professional health pathways by starting a nursing private practice in 1970 and by bringing holistic nursing to hospitals in the 80s. During the 90s she led medical tours to China, lived in China to discover how to help Westerners create a context for Eastern healing, and consulted to organizations nationwide to start healing centers. Ms. Bark has two nursing degrees, a masters in life transition counseling, and a PhD in philosophy and religion. She combined her education and experience to create the Wisdom of the Whole Coaching Academy, a home for discovery and exploration of a new integral way of coaching that benefits the coach, the client, and the world. She has trained coaches internationally in such organizations as the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, as well as KPMG and Welji in India. Linda has been involved in many professional areas. Dr. Bark received first place for professional development for her textbook The Wisdom of the Whole: Coaching for Joy, Health, and Success. She has been very instrumental in helping create national coach certification at AHNCC and NBHWC. Currently, she is an advisor to the Indian government to design a health coach certification there. Peer-reviewed research shows the efficacy of Bark's coaching model. Her work is multifaceted and includes her coaching academy, her private individual clients, and her corporate clients. On episode 457 of The Nurse Keith Show nursing and healthcare career podcast, Keith welcomes back psychiatric nurse practitioner Claire Ellerbrock, DNP, APRN, PMHNP. In the course of their conversation, Keith and Claire discuss the common challenges faced by new psych NPs, what Ms. Ellerbrock loves most about this particular role, what psych NP students fail to learn during their education, and how her services support these newly minted providers in thriving in life and professional practice. Claire Ellerbrock is a psychiatric nurse practitioner in Columbus, Ohio. Claire found that while her graduate program provided her with a degree to practice, she could have benefited from more clinical guidance to confidently enter practice treating complex patients. This realization led her to create Stress Free Psych NP, an online educational platform that guides both new and experienced psychiatric and family nurse practitioners to more confidently and competently treat their patients with mental health needs. Claire's flagship course, the Mental Disorders Crash Course, helps providers to more effectively diagnose and treat the most important mental disorders commonly encountered in practice. Her vision is to help empower all nurse practitioners with the knowledge needed to not only excel in practice, but do so with less stress along the way. Passionate about health equity and providing quality mental health care to marginalized and under-served populations, Claire received her DNP from Kent State University, MSN from Case Western Reserve University, and BA in Psychology from Washington University in St Louis. In the course of their conversation, Keith and Ms Smilios discuss how numerous Black nurses fled the Jim Crow south in search of opportunity in the non-segregated north, and how many ended up working at Sea View Hospital on Staten Island, a facility focused on the treatment — and to a large extent the warehousing — of thousands of TB patients. Listeners may be shocked to learn that the American Nurses Association barred Black nurses from being members until they gave in to pressure in 1949, despite Black nurses' impressive contributions to the development of the profession. A native of New York City, Ms. Smilios holds a Masters of Arts from Boston University in Religion & Literature where she was a Henry Luce Scholar and a Presidential Scholar. She also taught Essay and Research writing in the university's writing program.  In 2007, she left Boston and moved back to New York City to teach at an all-girls high school. There she created and ran an intensive summer writing program for teens.  Maria formerly worked as a development editor in the Biomedical Sciences editing books in lung diseases, pediatric and breast cancer, neurology, and ocular diseases. It was during this time when she read a line in a book that led her to discover the story of the Black Angels.  Through writing the book, she has become in involved in advocating for affordable and accessible TB drugs in TB-heavy countries, working with and supporting organizations such as EndTB and Partners in Health. Many APRNs stay late at work or bring charts home to catch up on documentation, and using smart phrases, practicing problem-focused chart notes, and other hacks can significantly reduce the charting burden.
