Opportunities for educational equity under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act – which replaced No Child Left Behind in 2015. States are responsible for implementing this important piece of civil rights legislation to leverage federal dollars for low-income students and school improvement. ESSA is an opportunity for states to do right by their kids by using the law to collect data and track the performance of all students so that families and the public know how schools and kids are doing; and use data to target federal dollars effectively and equitably to school communities. It is not enough for states to treat ESSA as a compliance exercise, each state ought to seize the opportunity to design an accountability system that meaningfully sets goals, weights indicators, and disaggregates data by subgroup – and then reports that out to the public in a transparent and accessible way.

We will be speaking with an Indy mobile app/game developer to discuss the need for diversity in mobile educational apps/games. This should be a real eye openner for those of you that understand the need for edu-tainment and how to use these for the advancement of education in a diverse world.

I am an educator working in further education in the UK. I also run a martial arts studio, writer, author, and I am in the process of setting up a leadership and communication consultancy.  Over the last ten years I have seen mental health issues rise dramatically with our teens, so I became a Youth Mental Health First Aider, and a Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner, to help deal with this.  As a media lecturer I love looking to the past at the Hero's Journey, and using that in the present as a vehicle for life. How can we embrace our own heroes journey to stay up to date with the modern world, and prepqare our students for a career that will pass through 2030, 2040 etc. What will that even look like?

We have heard the phrase "The Children are our Future" so many times it loses its effect. However, it doesn't make it any less true. With our government in a very weird place we need to look at our next generation of voters to possibly be the fix. Listen in today to see what our children can do help the nation.
