    Katrina Burrus interviews Peter Brabeck on his leadership successes and challenges @Nestle.  Peter Brabeck joined Nestlé in 1968 in Austria as a salesman, later becoming a specialist for new products. His career within the group included a span of almost ten years in Chile (1970–1980), first as national sales manager and later as director of marketing. In 1981, he was appointed managing director of Nestlé Ecuador and in 1983, president and managing director of Nestlé Venezuela. In October 1987, he was transferred to Nestlé's international headquarters in Vevey. As senior vice-president in charge of the Culinary Products Division, he had worldwide responsibility for that business area. On 1 January 1992, Brabeck-Letmathe was appointed the executive vice-president of Nestlé S.A., with global responsibility for the Strategic Business Group encompassing food, Buitoni pasta, chocolate and confectionery, ice cream, pet food, as well as industrial products (aromas). At the same time, he had worldwide responsibility for marketing, communications, and public affairs. In particular, during his time as executive vice-president, he conceived and implemented the unique branding policy of Nestlé, characterized by a strict hierarchy of strategic brands on the global, regional and local level. On 5 June 1997, he was elected to the board of directors and appointed chief executive officer of Nestlé S.A. ERIC WISEMAN Mr. Eric Wiseman is Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of VF Corporation, a global leader in branded lifestyle apparel and footwear with more than $12 billion in revenues. Mr. Wiseman has 35 years of experience in the apparel industry. His career with VF began in 1995 when he joined the company as Executive Vice President of the JanSport® brand. He then held a progression of leadership roles, including Chairman of VF's Sportswear and Outdoor Coalitions and Executive Vice President, Global Brands. He was named President and Chief Operating Officer in 2006 and elected to VF's board of directors that same year. Mr. Wiseman was named CEO in January 2008 and Chairman of the Board in August 2008. Mr. Wiseman also serves on the board of directors of Lowe's Companies Inc., CIGNA Corporation and the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), as well as the Board of Visitors of Wake Forest University School of Business. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and an MBA from Wake Forest University.

It is a private event for trade visitors only. In this video, I interview Jean-Marc Pontroue, He is CEO of Roger Dubuis watches.  Roger Dubuis joined the Richemond Group in 2008. Richemont owns several of the world’s leading companies in the field of luxury goods, with particular strengths in jewelry, luxury watches and writing instruments. The Richemond group encompasses several of the most prestigious names in the luxury industry including Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Piaget, Vacheron Constantin, Jaeger-LeCoultre, IWC Schaffhausen, Panerai and Montblanc to mention just a few. Who is Seth Berkley Seth Berkley joined the GAVI Alliance as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in August 2011. The GAVI Alliance is a public-private partnership whose mission is to save children’s lives and protect people’s health by increasing access to immunization in developing countries. Since its launch in 2000, GAVI has prevented more than five million future deaths and helped protect 288 million children with new and underused vaccines.  Under Berkley’s leadership, the Alliance plans to deliver vaccines to another quarter of a billion children and prevent four million more deaths by 2015. Dr. Seth Berkley is a medical epidemiologist by training. He is the current CEO of the GAVI Alliance and a global advocate on the power of vaccines. He is also the founder and former CEO of the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative.

    Leading Swiss Private Banks with Charles de Boissezon Charles de Boissezon has taken over as CEO of Geneva headquartered Hinduja Bank and brings with him 37 years of International banking experience in London, Hong Kong, New York, Geneva, Chile and Jersey. Charles is both French and British.  He grew up in Vietnam and Hong Kong and spent his formative years in Geneva attending the College de Leman School.  He then left for the USA to earn his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts. After graduating in 1971, Charles moved to London and joined HSBC as a trainee banker. Over the next 30 years, he held positions of responsibility at HSBC Offices worldwide in Hong Kong, New York, Djibouti, Chile, Brazil and Argentina. When he quit in 2003 as Member of HSBC's Executive Committee based out of Geneva, he was an exceptional manager with a lot of international business acumen.  He joined Banque Piguet & Cie SA the same year as Chief Executive Officer, a position he held until 2008. His multicultural up-bringing has allowed Charles to better understand people and appreciate that here are different perspectives to all situations, depending on one's circumstances, history and experiences. It helps to open one's mind and perspective and understand others which is the first step in getting things done. Charles de Boissezon is now CEO of Hinduja Bank (Switzerland) a multicultural and very flexible bank represents a unique asset.

Have you wondered how it all started and what secrets the Universe holds? For most of us, these matters are beyond our comprehension and yet these are questions scientists at CERN are exploring.  CERN is the world’s leading research body for particle physics. Some questions asked to the Director General of CERN Dr. Rolf-Dieter Heuer is what does he attribute his successful leadership to? “Nobody knows everything, so you have to listen to the experts but the experts don’t all agree so you need to make a synthesis and take responsibility if it goes wrong” says Dr. Heuer. “What do you need like competencies to gather funds in an economic downturn?” host, Dr. Katrina Burrus asks as his role at CERN shifted from physicist to diplomat. What is the predominate culture at CERN? What is the advise you give to CERN for the next 25 years? What leadership competencies do CERN need in the future? “Take the advice of people you trust but make your own opinion and take responsibility if it goes wrong,” continues Dr. Heuer. Who is Rolf-Dieter Heuer? Director General of CERN, Rolf-Dieter Heuer, upon taking up office in 2009. Dr. Heuer studied physics at the University of Stuttgart. He then obtained his PhD 1977 at the University of Heidelberg under Joachim Heintze for his study of neutral decay modes of the Ψ(3686). His post-doc studies include the JADE experiment at the electron-positron storage ring PETRA at DESY, and from 1984, at the OPAL experiment at CERN, where he also became spokesperson of the OPAL collaboration for many years.Having been offered a full professorship for experimental physics at the University of Hamburg, Heuer returned to DESY in 1998.
